Live & Let Die and Octopussy are lousy movies

Just like the Moonraker goes~

True. Althoughy The Dalton films were not "bad". Just not as good as Rogers

A View to a Kill is in my Top 3 worst Bond movies.

The Man with the Golden Gun makes up for it, slightly controversial opinion but its my favorite Bond.

Moore had his ups and downs but overall a vretty enjoyable Bond ouvre. Perhaps the best overall.

>implying this isn't the best quip in the entire series
youtube.com/watch?v=HmQnEyiGdGQ

did the other guys really not know the chink got tossed out?

Would it matter if they did?

*cough*

Octopussy is hands-down the worst Bond movie
I'd heard solid arguments advanced for others, but seriously, there is nothing in Octopussy that redeems it in any way at all
It's amazing the franchise didn't die right there

I still can't believe they had the balls to stick "pussy" in the title like that. Especially in the 80s.

After having Pussy Galore as a henchwoman a few years before I think no fucks were given by anyone

Moonraker was unironically 10/10.

Best shirley bassey song
Goldfinger's good and all, but shirley's best is moonraker

>asian man on stairs
>*pulls lever*
>stairs become a slide
>mind the slant

raimi with the cowriting credit

The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only are great Bond films. Octopussy is decent. Moonraker gets too much hate. The first half is actually a solid film and most of the jokes land. It gets a little too silly towards the end but not enough to make it even remotely the worst Bond films. Especially when the likes of Diamonds Are Forever, QoS, Spectre, and Die Another Day exist.

I think Goldeneye has the best theme

Get off my board

I think it's pretty good. I prefer tomorrow never dies, as far as songs go. TWINE pretty good too

>The Man with the Golden Gun makes up for it, slightly controversial opinion but its my favorite Bond.

It's my favorite too. I just enjoy the surrealism of it all.

>Balls of steel
God bless Roger.
youtube.com/watch?v=aJIdgoYeTB4

Hmm judging by this official ranking you appear to be wrong. The Spy Who Loved Me alone nearly makes up for the dodgy ones I suppose.

Top 007 Tier

I quite like View to a Kill. Music's good, villain is fun and it winks at how old Roger Moore is.

...

>it winks at how old Roger Moore is.
Moore said he knew it was time to retire when he realized he was older than leading lady Tanya Robert's mother

It the fucking current year, and we're still not capable of space laser battle funtimes. Come on USA and China, get it together.

No, it's laughably dated and quaint in an amusing way but seriously not "realistic". The "fun" value is strictly objective. You're simply a salty cunt who thinks everything was better when he was 12. The contrarianism in this thread is beyond retarded, it's literally like everyone just flipped the popular opinions and ran with that, combined with retard nostalgia goggles. The Moore Bonds are bloated, indulgent garbage, the worst "capeshit" of their era.

Sometimes I imagine a view to a kill but with timothy dalton

>no bad films
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAohgodstopHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

>t.capeshitter

wow. you must be fun at parties

I don't think Connery ever had any bad films, apart from maybe Diamonds are Forever. Moore has all the movies that are in the middle tier, with maybe only The Spy who Loved Me and Live and Let Die near the top 10.

>official ranking
Fuck off, bro.

...

umm... imagine licking her octopusy...

delet NOW

>people unironically believed this could be us right now post-2000

I don't know if I;m glad or upset this was never a reality in our timeline

how did he get away with it????

youtube.com/watch?v=2QUacU0I4yU
>Roger Moore's face when she refuses it
"Well, guess I'll just keep it for myself then.

You know what's funny to me in old "futuristic" movies is that all of them have these really thick monitors and TV screens and so on. Like, apparently not a single filmmaker predicted that we'd have flatscreens.

...

License to Kill was once very underrated and is now kind of overrated

...

>62 KB, 447x427

Timothy Dalton deserves better.

Why is he so short?

...

She's just really tall

He's obviously holding both of them aloft just using his shoulders, such is his strength.

Mmmm.

>Octopussy is hands-down the worst Bond movie
>not skyfall

not one redeeming thing about that joint

...

First you name what makes the garbage pile known as Spectre any better than Skyfall.

that's not Pierce Brosnan wtf

yeah true, forgot about that pile of shite

Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only don't belong on the awful tier

No problem carry on, sir.

Omg!

For your eyes only has the worst opening though

how does something like Quantum of Solace even get made? How do they look at that and go yep this is a great movie ready for release.

It's a continuation of Casino Royale and Jason Bond trend. It has issues but it's miles better than capeshit Bond like Skyfall and Spectre.

Daniel Craig edited or wrote most of it I think because of the writer's strike. Not his best strength.

Literally the Bond whose films sagged the entire series.

The heck? I agree with you that QoS is way better than those two but calling them capeshit is strange to me.

The Man with the Golden Gun, Moonraker, Octopussy, and a View to a Kill are legitimately fucking terrible movies that are among the worst of the entire franchise.

The Spy Who Loved Me is the only truly great Moore film.

Quantum is fucking awful and is plagued with script issues due to the writer's strike and is abysmally shot+edited, you just pretend to like it because contrarian memery

Movies like Transformers 5 and Suicide Squad have been given the go-ahead for release. The standard in Hollywood for "ready for release" is apparently not that high at all so basically you'd better hope the person in charge of the final cut knows what he's doing because nobody is going to bother correcting him.

Neither of us said we liked it, we just said it's better than Spectre and Skyfall.

I did like it though.

Skyrim > Skyfall

The plot is literally capeshit tier and funnily enough is similar to capeshit that came out before the movies.

It has James Bond doing spy shit, is even somewhat clever and artful with the Tosca scene and Mattis' death had great symbolism. It's James Bond done in the vein of Jason Bourne and it succeeds in this regard. It's low scale and grounded and succeeds to portray the cynical nature of secret services.

I agree.

>Best bonds

1.Connery
2.Dalton
3.Brosnan
4.Moore
5.Craig
6.Lazenby

>Best films

Thunderball
GoldenEye
The Living Daylights
OHMSS
Goldfinger

>Best themes

Nobody Does It Better
Live and Let die
Diamonds Are Forever
Thunderball
Tomorrow Never Dies

The only capeshit I can think of that's similar to Skyfall/Spectre is BvS and MoS in that those two capeshit are mopey, overly dark bullshit with poorly done action scenes, just like Skyfall and Spectre.

R.I.P You beautiful man

>Live & Let Die
I loved it as a child and recently I read the book and immediately like it more than the film.

No joke the Bond films have aged to be pretty cheesy with weak over the top villains.

The Craig films at least brought some realism into the series (QoS is one of the worst Bond films ever so I in no way think that was a good movie) and Brosnan is right: his films should have been like Craig's. TWINE is like his only Bond film where he actually acts well i.e. serious and not so comedic.

The "I never miss scene" is by far one of the best Bond film moments. Also if you are not aware: the Bond films from Dr No to Die Another Day TECHNICALLY follow after one another and so knowing this it makes Bond killing the female in TWINE that more emotional. Remember that Bond at the beginning of For Your Eyes Only is visiting the site of his wife who died in On Her Majesty's Secret Service and in The Spy Who Loved Me, Bond says his wife died tragically and he never wants to remarry.

It's the Craig films of course that are a reboot.

>is visiting the site
Her grave I mean. On her tombstone is the words "WE HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD"

Skyfall is the most beautifully shot movie in the whole goddamn franchise, that alone elevates it above most bond movies, you just hate it because it's """"""reddit"""""""""

Skyfall had "WAS GETTING CAUGHT A PART OF YOUR PLAN" sequence which was also in Avengers (and relied on the MI6 being utterly incompetent at basic computer security). While Spectre had the MC's agency becoming the enemy which happened in Winter Soldier and had the main villain be JB's brother. It's not so much about the tone, Mendez made sure it was maudlin as fuck but about the quality of the script.

On the contrary I love most of the films in the "Essential Redditcore" list, but not Skyfall.

And what Bond movies with Sean Connery were bad?

...

Found the list, just for reference.

>Its the best because it looks pretty
Millenial as fuck

Never Say Never Again

>cinematography is worthless in a visual medium!!!

I bet you're a dipshit who thinks muh plot is the most important part of filmmaking

>MUH PRETTY COLOURS

>hurr durr the movie was bad because hacking doesn't work that way!!!111!!! fucking redditors!!!

>beautifully shot movie
I'm not watching a JB movie for art. If it's there, fine, but if it fails to provide a good plot and well acted JB antics, it's a shit Bond movie.

Plus there is Mendez' hubris. From the get go you can sense he has no humility when dealing with the franchise. He tried to subvert almost everything about James Bond and it shows. It's might not be obvious to everyone in Skyfall but in Spectre it's clear as day. "Do we need these spies anymore?" is the writing on the wall. Fuck you Mendez, if we don't, don't make a movie about them. Then there is the ending where Bond spares the villain and abandons the agency because he is tired and wants that 20 soemthing pussy. Casino Royale was bad enough with this.

>I bet you're a dipshit who thinks muh plot is the most important part of filmmaking
Like 99% of film critics?

>MUH PRETTY SHOTS

>the writing on the wall.

I see what you did there.

I don't and I made it

youtube.com/watch?v=-0q0ilju3tU

I honestly had no idea

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is unironically my favorite bond movie.

The shittest Bond theme tune ever made. I couldn't even remember how it went before clicking on the link. For all its faults the Skyfall theme was bombastic enough to be great.

it's not a bad song
it just doesn't fit with the bond series
that includes thom yorke bleep bloops

That's the power of morphogenetic fields for you.

Octopussy and A View to a Kill

>People still unironically defend Craig

I preemptively declare that the next Craig film will be one of the best in the entire franchise because after Spectre flopped hard they're going to be really dedicated to getting it right.

>really dedicated to getting it right
They'll be really dedicated to giving people what they think they want. Cue cookie cutter audience tested bullshit and feminism.

youtube.com/watch?v=aC8Ls-5nRxM

BEST BOND FILM COMING THROUGH

Oh come on, the last time they were dedicated to getting it right we got Casino Royale and that was a fantastic film.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=D9vvzcS0fgI

How does MI being a better James Bond series make Bongs feel?

MI and Tom are based so its ok

Then they made 3 other movies. The craft is gone and in today's political and cultural environment I seriously doubt they can make anything that will capture the essence of JB and be watchable.

Bongs have Kingsman so they're doing pretty fine.

Spectre > Skyfall.

Skyfall has a great first act but the over use of being in England ruined it especially everything at the house that didn't feel like Bond.

Spectre was a rollercoaster from start to finish despite Waltz's reveal.

Spectre was trash

>Spectre was a rollercoaster
Which didn't fit its style at all.

Spectre had some extremely poorly filmed action scenes which is terrible to see in a Bond film. At least the Home Alone scene in Skyfall was well filmed. Granted, John Wick is better than either of them.

>John Wick
>good
Overchoreographed bullshit that is way too obviously based on comics.

Idiot

Go on, prove me wrong. Atleast 80s action hero stuff had the decency not to take itself seriously.

>Spectre had some extremely poorly filmed action scenes which is terrible to see in a Bond film
Example?

Skyfall's last act was trash

>Skyfall's last act was trash
I didnt say otherwise, QOS, Skyfall and Spectre were all shit

>Pre Credits
>Blofeld's Meeting
>Train Scene
>Snow Scene
>Bond Escaping Blofeld's Base
All these scenes in Spectre were fantastic. Not referring to Blofeld revealing his identity though

>Example?
The helicopter scene was complete garbage.

>Train Scene
Oh yeah it sure was great when everyone else on the train suddenly disappeared so Bond could have a shit shaky cam fight
>Snow Scene
When he magically pulls a plane out of his ass?
>Bond Escaping Blofeld's Base
Yeah it made sense when he drilled into Bonds head and then literally nothing happened

youtube.com/watch?v=CTJlmlZWWHA#t=1m11s

Find me even a single scene in either of those films which is better than this.

This exactly what I'm talking about. John Wick kills X henchmen who have the decency to come at him 1v1 or 2v1 tops. The only difference between this and capeshit is stylistic.

Goldeneye belongs in top tier

OHMSS to TSWLM is the best run in Bond history, all kino

Diamonds and MWTGG are horribly underrated

Diamonds has the GOAT soundtrack of ANY film, listen to it

>Octopussy is hands-down the worst Bond movie
Spectre stole its twist from fucking Austin Powers, man. Craig worst Bond.

>Atleast 80s action hero stuff had the decency not to take itself seriously.
You're confusing the fact that it's played straight with taking itself seriously. It clearly doesn't take place in the real world.

Craig is shit

>The Craig films at least brought some realism into the series
Lmao, maybe comapred to Brosnan. Maybe.

Fuck who is best Bond

Who is best Bond Girl

...

...

>people putting Spectre into anything but pretentious meme trash tier

>The Craig films at least brought some realism into the series
Why do people say this like its a good thing? Bond isnt about being realistic is a power fantasy

Its a power fantasy*

muh pure waifu

Wasn't she a tranny?

This kind sir, is correct along with Famke Jansen. I know everyone wants to say Denise Richards, but the AIDS patrol is watching.

These two aren't mutually exclusive and in fact
>Craig movies
>power fantasy
>it's repeatedly stressed that Bond is either too inexperienced or too old/outdated

>Wasn't she a tranny?

God I hope so

Pierce Brosnan is the best bond

I think they had her confused with todayifoundout.com/index.php/2012/12/was-one-of-the-bond-girls-really-formerly-a-man/

>connery is best bond

truly this is the most reddit opinion ever

Who still zozzles?

Fuck off Cred Forums

BASED

..but the world was not enough

Moore's worst is still better than Craig’s best.

I unironically liked the Dalton Bond. In the books, Bond is one ruthless cold motherfucker. Dalton got closest to that feel imo. Shame that he only got one okay film and one shitfest. They might have hit stride in a third outing.

>the only Bond with no bad films.

True, though he was the worst Bond.

>Wasn't she a tranny?

no that was pic related.

He didn't fly so good!
Who wants to try next?

That is wrong.

Patrician OP

Here is the definitive ranking of the Moore films:

1) Octopussy
2) The Man with the Golden Gun
3) Live and Let Die
4) For Your Eyes Only
5) The Spy Who Loved Me
6) A View to a Kill
7) Moonraker

Wow, she looks really good. I never would have guessed. I suppose this Klinefelter's syndrome thing helped, but I didn't realize they had such effective sex change technology so many years ago.

Wow! I am really interested to know your reasoning behind placing Octopussy in first.

>Dalton got closest to that feel
Connery was way more sociopathic

What? I thought people loved Licence to Kill.

I know right? Even in the 90s they put bulky CRTs in the future with flying cars and space colonies.

I hate Craig in this role
Emotionless bastard
Apparently he's more accurate to the books but I don't care

You should watch Logan Lucky, Craig is great in that.
