They were.
Political correctness wasn't a thing.

Truly those where the days

It was mocking his bigoted views.

Fuck you, Onslow is /ourguy/

Onslow was just a very honest guy from what I remember

How? There is still nothing but wogs and queers on telly now.

It actually wasn't. He was a bigot etc. But the show portrayed him as "honest" while his sister in law was the butt of the jokes - mocked for her pretensions.

The 90's were INCREDIBLY politically correct. It's just that the late 2000's until now are on an absolutely insane level.

So were Archie Bunker (U.S.) and Alf Garnett (U.K. played by a jew).

They were mocking bigoted views of the working classes. Do you honestly think the BBC in the fucking late 90s would air fucking pro-racist and homophobic views? I never watched much of the Royal Family but I guarantee the audience burst out laughing at him when he said it.

>tin of Boddington's bitter

them were the days lads

*Early 90s actually

>Gay couples appearing on quizzes
>Pansexual dating shows

>ywn have room for a pony

...

I miss the gameshows with crap prizes. Enjoy your sewing machine and £30 luv, you've earned it.

Not the Royal Family. Not late 90's. Not (openly) mocking. More akin to Al Bundy. Views the "working class" as crude/bigoted but "honest" while the white middle class are seen as poseurs who mask their ignorance and bigotry.

>ywn achieve this level of comfort in life
>ywn achieve this level of contentedness as a result of self-sufficiency
>ywn grow old in a comfy suburb of London with your affable neighbours
>ywn get to make sweet, tender love to a prime Felicity Kendall every night
Why do old sitcoms make me feel like killing myself so much Cred Forums?

Imagine Hyacynt having access to facebook and youtube.

Nostalgia is dangerous, specially when you're nostalgic for something you've never experienced.

Oh okay, so did the character appear before the Royal Family or something like that? There was actually a significant cultural shift from the early 90s to the millennium.

...

Oh, I thought you meant Onslow/Keeping up Appearances, nvm

>Happy Days
I'm afraid you've lost me there pal.
Regardless, nostalgia really has nothing to do with it. I'm just mad I'll never get to shag Felicity Kendall
