what's with all the niggers?

sold sette to who what now?

Remeber the reason sette was sent is her loli body and the amulet tricks night duane into thinking she is mikaila. Da sent her on a dangerous mission that she didn't even know the specifics on, just so winilis would put in a good word for him with beadman. Plus for all we know her job might not end a him to Winalis, remember she was suppose to go on the boat before stock tried to send her back.

>Sette would understand.

Nary really does trust Sette to take care of herself.

Do you think the Queen knows that they know?

It's been long said Nary probably is a tough love chap. The beatens and what not are just to make her strong. Seeing how fucking corrupted and generally shitty sharteshane is it was probably the right choice. Not to mention he instructed her to come home if the job was fucked. I could imagine sette would understand especially if she knew how much Nary hated how he plateaued as a mobster. Sette isn't good at subtext but he pretty much said so when he was explaining why Stock left.

>Sold his daughter
FUCKING WORST DA EVER

here is the page

he merely rented her

...

Hot damn Sette truly is her father's daughter.

I feel like everyone knows about one person but not who is being that one person which will lead to plenty of twists later.

>the king is scared shitless
>Ruck is completely enraptured by a lit cigar
>and is holding a shot glass with one of his tiny head-hands
couldn't find my copy of this without the text, but it's almost fitting here

I can't make up my mind whether the Queen or Beadman is the one who's on top of the other. They're clearly the two players with the clearest view of the map, but who has the edge in information?

And of course neither of them know what's going on in Alderode.

I like this setup. The gang's slowly making their way up to Alderode and fuckin' Nary is going to be there waiting for them. It feels like he's going to bookend the entire tale and Sette will in the end have to choose which dad to side with.

The man,
The myth,
The Legend.

>nary stole the ashtray

Just wait until we hit Alderode and an as of yet unseen third player comes out swinging, trouncing both the Queen and Beadman.

Fuck meant to reply to

It didn't occur to me until now but Nary really reminds me of Bill Sikes from Oliver with lamb chops and the thievery.

Nary's probably working for all three of them.

A smarter person that myself could probably make a pretty neat connection between that and the fourth frame.

>Beadman accuses 'Nary of abandoning his daughter for profit
>'Nary doesn't deny it
>the official Cred Forums 'Nary Defense Force mobilizes
I do not understand why you're romanticizing this piece of shit. The man is scum, his word is worthless and I don't mean to cast dispersions on a man but he's probably contributed to the apocalypse.

It's more of a Sette Defense Force, I think. We want to believe that Sette's undying devotion to Nary has at least some good reason for existing.

He sold his daughter off to Alderode in exchange for getting appointed as Sharteshanes ambassador to Alderode. The man has a strange way of abandoning her when he's about to follow her across the continent.

RIP, dead lawyer, taken before your time.

Oh what the fuck, I wasn't looking for it. That'll teach me.

Weirdly that line made me start defending him when yesterday I would have said he didn't care about her at all.
>If she's mine she'll make her way
That can be read as either 1: He isn't convinced she's his. or 2:He does know she's his and has faith in her abilities with her being able to make her way proving that fact to any doubters.
He's still not a good parent but now I'm not too sure he's uncaring.

Nobody's romanticizing the childbeater. We're just debating the extent to which he actually cares about Sette.

Sette a cute!

She doesn't have a navel. "If she's mine" only means that if he has succeeded at raising her to be his daughter she'll rise to the challenge. Which begs the question why doesn't Nary have any biological children. Is he depressed or infertile. Adopting Stockyard and making him his heir would have been the logical way of continuing the family business. Nary has a history of sending people he cares about out of the country. If Stockyard hadn't cocked things up he might have been running Cresce one day the way Nary is about to run Alderode.

Nice catch

>Is he depressed or infertile
Knowing Ashley he's gay.

I don' think I've ever seen a man as spooked as that king.

Can you really blame him? The poor schmuck's sitting at the same table as a literal rapemonster.

>She doesn't have a navel. "If she's mine" only means that if he has succeeded at raising her to be his daughter she'll rise to the challenge.
Why are you so quick to assume that?
If you assume that Sette's lack of attributes must mean her lack of relation than you must also assume that Sette's ethereal nature would mean that any and all normal logic can be safely tossed out the window, if Sette is of no woman born she can be related to Nary by some other less than natural means.

>Why am I even at this meeting?

Maybe he wants to move in with his new boyfriend Bastion at the Winalils estate? They can adopt Sette together once she arrives in Alderode.

The thing is you can care about your kid and still be an abusive piece of shit.

>if Sette is of no woman born she can be related to Nary by some other less than natural means.
The khert sees her as human, for what it's worth. She could be some kind of construct, a clone or something. But anything I can think of "outside the box" doesn't discount 'Nary as contributing material to her. I don't know mang, shits gonna get weird.

...

This is fucking gold

>My moustache hurts.
>Tfw no-one here even plays Strip-Cross-The-River
>I wish I was at home banging my pymaric right now

Fantastic.

Holy shit, remember that Bell has an Ehfeby bite on his neck. Ruck is playing things more than Beadman realizes

Ruck still seems to be in the best position from my perspective

I want to kiss Sette's dirty feet!

He took the cigar stump which probably had genetic material from the snake-guy.

That's perfect.

THE DELEGATES SONORIE
GIVE ME BACK THE DELEGATES

All right, this is so fantastic, it compelled me to create and contribute lower quality OC that's been kicking around in my head for a couple updates.

There's evidence of Ruck playing literally every major antagonist aside from maybe Delicieu so far.

How do you think she'd feel about that?

I still feel there has to be some connection between Ruck and Ilganyag. I highly doubt she'd just give up her loyal cult of stooges despite helping (and soul-fucking) them for ages.

jfc I want to tweak them little potay-toes and make her a hot bowl of soup.

...

Evidence? Really? Bell's bite is nothing new but if there's more I'd love to see it.

she'd probably let you do it, while showering you with insult like a spoiled princess.

The Black Tongues as a whole have completely failed her, she wants a way back into the world and Duane represents the best possibility to do so.

I like to think there’s ANOTHER efheby we don’t even know about pulling Bell’s strings just to screw over Ruck

amazing
Does he have pocket mosbuiks?

So Cope seems to be suggesting that Nary did literally sell Sette to her new owner. How do you own a Sette, does she come with paperwork?

>Bastion fucking with Sette, too

Does this guy realize Duane is literally going to eat him while he screams for mercy?

>How do you own a Sette, does she come with paperwork?
Of course not! Reading and writing are stoopid!

Bastion was the guy who made the now seemingly-deathless Duane. If there's an off switch, he'll know about it.

well fug

But does he? Up until now he seemed just as baffled by Duane as anyone else, to the point of abandoning him for ~6 years. He may instead just fucking re-murder him, worst case scenario.

He abandoned Duane only because he thought it didn't work. Turns out it worked, just took a bit to kick in, and somebody may have been trying to keep Bastion in the dark on purpose. Either way if Bastion knows the spellfuckery that sustains Duane no doubt he can fuck with it.

Somebody ask Ashlee if Nary stole the ashtray.

>Cresce has the Queen, backed by the Black Tongues, now supported by a mind melting Senet Beast.
>It also has Beel, leading the revolutionary forces of Cresce, backed by the biggest Mad Man of the Black Tongues, with a god damn super weapon capable of wiping a whole city.
>They are both backed by the Disney of the Unsounded universe.

Jesus fuck. How fucked is aldelore?

>Bastion fucking with Sette, too
Remember Bastion is a transhumanist that wants to cure death, Sette is allegedly unaging, of course he would be fascinated by her.

Hard to say. We haven't seen Alderode yet. They have their Dammakhert and that's a fuckin wild card.

I wonder then did Nary buy her from someone?

Stealing the ashtray for some kind of sample rom Ruck would have been a really nifty small detail, pity it couldn't really work in this scene.

Nah, we have the queen, who thinks she is in control of a snakeman.
We have Bell who is controlled by a snakeman.
And we have Disney who thinks he knows what the snakeman is doing, but doesn't.

It reminded me of Assassins Creed: Black Flag, where you impersonate a traitor early on in the story to get your foot in the door of the local illuminati movers and shakers. And then while they're busy looking over the map of the Caribbean you pick all their pockets.

>Jesus fuck. How fucked is aldelore?
Not very, if you take a close look at what everyone want. At least not so onesidedly. The Queen is the most dire threat, because she obviously has a plan to dig into Alderode on a metaphysical level and up end the whole system. For better or worse, doing that to Alderode would cause a lot of cause and probably end their status as a country of any political importance. Not to mention the existential crisis it would cause. Bell is a war mongerer, but his plan is just a bigger war with a Kaiju cutting across it. Tough stuff, but three dads, and it was mostly two of them, almost managed to kill it on their own. We've seen a future of it terrorizing Alderode's interior, but it'd take more than just the monster to get there. We know a civil war of some sort is involved. We still need to know what's up with Bell's Alderode contact, who is no doubt playing the same kind of game Bell is on his side and thus sees what's going on as an opportunity to increase Alderode's power. Or perhaps one part of Alderode, hence the civil war.

Beadman is actually the least worrisome, because what he really wants right now is to subvert Cresce. He ultimately wants the power balance to remain the same, and his plans mostly have to do with selling shit to Cresce, rather than doing anything to Alderode. His plans just include causing a big war between the two, which as far as he cares is just business as usual for the countries.

>"That's some bloody silver, it is! Why, oim gonna' take this the wai to the King of Sharteshane!

Why do I feel like booting would actually be some kind of pymaric-based punishment for Shartes?

>He may instead just fucking re-murder him, worst case scenario.

Hahahaha! No, I don't think so. Duane is a better wright by miles, and much stronger physically. If it comes down to a straight fair fight, Duane will be eating Bastion's entrails.

seems more likely, but Lady Ilgy has uses for Duane and will likely warn him if she finds out about such a trick.

God I hate Nary so fucking much.
I hate the dickless wonder too but at least that faggot is aiming high. 'Nary? Just a punk bitch all the way around.

...

He's ballless, not dickless. Unless you meant Duane.

In any case there's still a lot we don't know. Nary's definitely a cunt to Sette, but he's also a cunt in general. How do we know he ever intended on holding his end of the bargain up regarding Sette's sale? Shit, we don't even know what the bargain IS.

Oh man. Everyone involved with Ruck is going to get fucked over so, so badly. None of them get it. Too caught up trying to think like each other.

That's how he'll take Beadman too. Smaller folk have smaller ambitions, and Beadman's let his eyes get too big.

Okay so I think I'm starting to see the shape of the scheme that's at play here. Beadman seems to be the central instigator, the one who connected several unrelated schemers together and is manipulating things for his benefit. He's the one who put the Silver on its crash course for Alderode, apparently, and also helped Bell stage his coupe against the Sonories.

I'm still not sure how Ruk and the Blacktongues fit in this or what his actual long term goal for the silver was. His plan for Cresce seems pretty clear now: he wants a change in leadership so he can open up their markets to his rapacious greed, but I'm not sure he knows what he's doing with the Silver. Unless his goal is just unimaginable destruction. And when it comes to Ruk and the blacktongues... yeah I got no idea.

I think it would be a mistake to attribute too much to Beadman. Based on what we know of Delicieu, Ruk, and Bastion, all became part of this under their own instigation. None of them would be where they are without Beadman, though. Rather, everyone has their schemes that brought them into Beadman's sphere of influence and he saw an opportunity to encourage them for his own benefit.

Consider: The Queen wants to fuck with Alderode's fundamental nature. This brings her to Ruk and the Blacktongues, who are only open to the deal because one is addicted to novelty and the other have been cast adrift with their original patron and more prominent and worthwhile members keeping their distance. As part of this Delicieu had some plan we don't know the entire details yet for a pain monster. This brings him to Beadman and the Queen, the later of which he wants to finance his project. Already with her own plans, the Queen rejects him but this brings Bell into play, who himself has some unknown connection with another warmonger in Alderode. They finance Delicieu's purchase of the silver to strike at the Queen and possibly Alderode for unknown ends. Presumably Bell wants to turn it to Alderode and the Aldish instigator is fine with killing the Queen and perhaps using the silver as a false flag rallying point or to strike at their internal opponents in a civil war. Beadman is fine with this because the Queen seems fucking insane and at least Bell can be dealt with and just wants to kill people. He no doubt thinks Delicieu is just insane and his thing will just be a weapon that won't upend the world, despite that being Delicieu's goal.

Beadman is a hypocrite in the end. He chastises the Queen for riding a tiger, but is himself tied up with a bunch of crazy people who might not play the way he wants them to. The shape of things as I see it is everyone trying to play everyone towards their own ends and I expect it to explode in glorious fashion.

So on that note, the ones that depend on Beadman the most are Delicieu and Bell et al. for the silver. Presumably Bastion would've found Duane on his own and worked out some sort of deal even if he couldn't put in a good word for Nary. The Queen and her scheme doesn't really need Beadman, as his meeting with Ruk was ancillary to how that worked out. Did the lawyer really do much? Presumably, but surely the Queen could've provided anything he was necessary for. Bell might has found some other way to strike at the Queen. Delicieu would've been the most hard up, as the silver was said to be a rather stupendous find, not so easily replaced.

The point to get is that everyone is wrapped up in each other, Beadman just has a shorter distance between several parties. We're still missing much of the Alderode connection, though, which probably has a core of its own.

>Rather, everyone has their schemes that brought them into Beadman's sphere of influence and he saw an opportunity to encourage them for his own benefit.
But that's exactly what I said happened.

man this shits getting complicated

>If she's mine

Huh.

So where do Sette, Duane, and Quigley fit into all this?

Yeah it seems like not even Nary knows for sure where Sette came from.

I really like your summary of the situation, so I'm going to add a few of my thoughts, if you're still around.

It's true that the Queen doesn't need Beadman, but she does need Ruck. His venom is crucial to the plan to mess with the Dhammakhert. They're using Delicieu's old research mapping the human soul, and the Epheby venom to dissolve and make it possible to mess around with in order to find out how to do it. So unless she could find another Rape Snake, she would be screwed.

This brings us to the second point that you didn't mention, which are the bite marks on Bell's neck. It's been mentioned a thousand times already that he's being used, the only question is by whom? Is it the Queen, using him to draw out the traitors and purge them all, "bleeding in the water" as it were. Or is Ruck playing everyone at the table, every one of them thinking that he's working for them? It could even be a completely new Rape Snake, as some people have speculated. This along with what's happening in Alderode with the plague and Bell's co-conspirator are the biggest mysteries right now, as I see it.

Quigley seems like he just got roped in by circumstance (as did more than half the people in this clusterfuck), Sette and Duane seem somehow central to the plot in ways we don't really know. Apparently Sette's true purpose was to ferry Duane to Stockyard without him knowing, and Bastion seems to have created Duane for some unknown purpose besides just for the hell of it.

Too much mystery surrounding Sette and Duane; it's not really clear how/if they factor into this set of conspiracies.

Quigley is a nobody and a bad father.

This has inspired me to make a comprehensive unsounded relationship map for the main plot of the story. Will probably take a few days to put together but fortunately it's a long weekend so I've got time.

Given that both Duane and the Silver were meant to reach Ethelmik and Stockyard I'm tempted to think that Duane was a part of the Silver plot from the beginning, like as a component for it, but it could also be that he's just completely unrelated and Bastion was trying to bundle his own project into the Silver project, kind of like grouping Amazon orders together to save on shipping.

>Bastion seems to have created Duane for some unknown purpose besides just for the hell of it.
The impression I've gotten is that Bastion "It's never okay to die" Winalils isn't fond of death for some odd reason or other, and would rather defeat it, and so Duane (sort of like Timofey) is his prototype deathless man.

However, I suspect that the fact that Duane was both a tacit and innate caster isn't coincidental to his being chosen for the project, and so that doesn't bode well for it being generalizable to a broader population.

I do wonder if he also did up Mikaila in a twofer because when else would he next find a suitable candidate?

looking forward to it

Important to note: Beadman set Ruck up to finangle his way into control of the Black Tongues. But WHY? What exactly does Ruck want with them? To me he's the most intriguing player because I cannot guess his motivations at all. The Queen, for all her intrigue, ultimately seems to want what's best for Cresce. Beadman wants what's best for Sharteshane, and more specifically for his own company. Bell wants what's best for Cresce, according to his own interpretation of that idea. The Aldish players in this want what's best for Alderode, however they conceive of that.

But what does Ruck want? He's got no national loyalties, and we've seen no real motivation for the things he's done. Is it as simple as him being an immortal Senet beast who's bored and wants something to do? Or is there more to it than that?

>But what does Ruck want
Ruck wants to see new things. He grows fond of humans that he deems interesting the same way one might be fond of a new mechanical bobble they found in a pawn shop. They want it work for a bit then take it apart to see how it happens. The pain silver, breaking into Alderode's funky khert, Bastion overcoming death, these are all things he wants to learn about and possess, even if only for a brief time before his attentions destroy them. It's why Beadman thinks the Queen is nuts for relying on him. We saw what happened to that lawyer when his interest in something else made him choose. As soon as running the Blacktongues or working with Sonorie ceases to be the most interesting use of his time, he'll tear them apart just as easily as not if the fancy strikes him.

>The impression I've gotten is that Bastion "It's never okay to die" Winalils isn't fond of death for some odd reason or other, and would rather defeat it, and so Duane (sort of like Timofey) is his prototype deathless man.
It's not death per say, it's the loss of knowledge. The knowing is what hooks the black tongues, access to the the library of eternity known as the khert is the promise made by the lady. Living forever is just a means to an end.
>However, I suspect that the fact that Duane was both a tacit and innate caster isn't coincidental to his being chosen for the project, and so that doesn't bode well for it being generalizable to a broader population.
Bastion was looking for a tacit/innate caster for awhile, Duane just got caught up in the machinations of Bell/the queen/our unkown aldish players. The interesting thing is Winnalis was in a position to know about Duane's ambush. To my mind Bastion is in deeper with the Aldish conspiracy than we've been shown. And where are our plucky gang headed? What was always going to be Settes eventual destination?

Beadman's problem is also our problem as readers: we know nothing about the current goings-on in Alderode. We got our brief flashback when Sette peered into Duane's memories, but we've had no glimpses into Alderode's present, as we've gotten with Cresce and now Sharteshane. We don't know what's going on there at this very moment, so we can't yet suss out their role in things.

Yeah, Ruck is an enigma. My best guess, unless he really is just a hedonist riling up the spiderpaws for his own sick kicks, is that he started feeling Duane going into the Khert at night, and just had to find out what it was that was doing that to the world. He does seem pretty curious, and claims to be more sociable than the rest of his kind.

I think we all know that if Bastion zombiefied Mikaila there's nothing in the universe that could save him from Duane

If I remember correctly from the tumblr, Duane being an innate caster, a tacit caster, and a Soud had something to do with his being used as Bastion's guinea pig. Mikaila's only two of the three.

>Mikaila's only two of the three.
No, she's definitely all three of those.
Pretty sure that being a Soud didn't play a part in it though.

I'm pretty sure she's all three, so she could have been zombified. But Lemuel tore Bastion up pretty bad as soon as he realised what was going on, I doubt he would have let him touch Duane if he's already done it to Mikaila.

Oh, completely forgot she was tacit.

Yeah either Bastion or Duane is totally fucked

I'm not sure if that is a raising thing or if even he isn't sure if Sette isn't or is his.

Delicious Lizard is the key to all of this.

Man I forgot how much I love Ruck's weird babbling. Has a nice rhythm and vocabulary to it. Sometimes I wonder if Sette and Duane are the main characters just so she can have a gutter urchin and a posh priest bicker with each other in their unique voices. Cope is probably the best writer among the webcomic artists I know of, her stuff is just incredibly readable. Her prose bits don't stop me dead in my tracks like other comics have, though it probably helps none are in the actual comic itself. Still, the side stories are great to read.

>He was only a mouth. For you I shut him.

Agreed. I almost hate to go on about how good I think her writing is, I feel like it makes me sound like a shill or a fanfaggot or something.

She's definitely pro level though and even then among the best. Her shit is so DIFFERENT. Even street urchin Sette has a unique voice that's not some Cockney ripoff or Dickens riff. And Duane legitimately speaks beautifully in a way that a lot of writers WANT their educated characters to speak but then they can't actually pull it off.

Cope's got bonkers talent and it's weird she's doing this on her own and hasn't been spotted by a major publisher. Maybe her shit's just too unmarketable. Child rape and castration and gore and a whole lot of darkies.

She specifically doesn't want to publish through someone because she'll lose control.

>I feel like it makes me sound like a shill or a fanfaggot or something
you just gotta balance out the shilling with shit talking

I forgot how silly Scardest Paul was.

I wonder

Can the Damnakhert “sting” non alds?

IIRC you have to be "woven" into it. Which is why the gefendur hit squad that got Duane were all immigrants.

Probably not, or they're be pretty much no way to invade Alderode's territory without somekind of super secret hit squad to blow up their Khert towers to open it up. I suppose it also comes down to how you actually single someone out in the dammakhert to begin with. But I'd wager it only affects the people born into it.

Yeah, it's only people affected by the Dammakhert, Souds because they aren't affected by it, can't be stung.

Ah right, I forgot about that. Fits in nicely again with them being looked at as inherently suspect along with all the other ways them not being affected by it makes them uniquely other to the rest of the Alds.

>If I ever meet a more felonious and disrespectful little girl I'll kiss a Crescian!

We're waiting, Duane.

Well he might see the queen someday so maybe he can smooch her

He's also used the expression "sooner take tea with a Sonorie" so it looks like we've got an upcoming chapter: "Duane's Big Date."

>Weekend at Duane's

Seems like a great cheesy 90's sitcom plot. I can already imagine it...

It takes a lot of balls to point at a ten foot high snake/rape hybrid that just instantly de-torsoed a lawyer in front of you four panels ago and tell him he can't do something.

>Balls
Jokes aside, being a whiny cunt who thinks the world is owed to him has a habit of making people talk big against all reason.

I really appreciate the restraint Ashley showed here when it came to obscuring full view of Bastion's dick. She's a fujoshi for sure but at least she's a classy fujoshi.

Unsounded is a family comic.

Ain't no law 'gainst titty birds.

Is there any doubt that Unsounded is the greatest webcomic ever? Cope's artistry, longevity, and reliability are beyond anyone.

what gets me is that there must have not only been a Dark Paul, but also a DARKER Paul, to leave Darkest Paul to go with the superlative

I don't understand why Unsounded isn't more popular

He's a Sharte and his moniker fits into their stupid naming tradition..
Reference to "Darkest Pall" for a maximum tryhard edgelord.

Doesn't hurt that she's a cool person. I was creeping on her booth at Otakon when some girl dressed as Samus came up to her neighbor's table. Ashley asked her favorite Metroid game and the girl said she didn't know anything about Metroid. Ashley like couldn't help herself I guess and yelled "fake gamer girl!" Samus got pissed and Ashley apologized but was the cutest goddamned thing I've ever seen.

it's high fantasy with a really involved storyline and in depth world building, so the only way it'll get popular is if HBO does a series adaptation of it and puts lot of sex scenes in it

Number one of list of things to do if suddenly sensationally rich

>throw money at Cope until she organizes a proper animation team and VAs

Starts too slow for most. Or at least thats the reason I've heard.

Also kind of hard to recommend the comic when there's a pedo in it. People who hear that tend to be immediately not interested.

I mean, he's a bad guy. Obviously, not everyone wants to read stories that deal with that, but there's plenty of respected works with pedophiles in them.

>tfw the same type of baldening is happening to you but you don't have a cute wife to joke around about it with

I'm sure you're still pretty.

Stop being nice to each other, it makes me uncomfortable.

...

Bastion's sister died very young.

This is also why I believe Ssael is real.

It's just not for everyone IMO. The secret plots really are secret and have to be guessed at, and the character voices are great but they are to sone extent overwritten, it's just the general style of the thing in a Victoriana kind of way. I think Unsounded is just a bit of an acquired taste, and I'm really glad it has a following here so we can talk about it.

>immigrants

it seems like that's what they were, but that doesnt quite fit in with how alderode is, being extremely, extremely insular

i recall she thinks the comic form is ideal for unsounded

better! get her an inker, a colorist, and an ... uh ... art consultant? i dont know

Ashley has talked before about Unsounded as an illustrated prose story, just because of how much work and time it is putting it out as a comic. That would be bad news for me but also IMO still very much worth reading.

I don't think she needs any help on the art side of things. I had a couple of issues with the big brothel fight scene but Cope seems pretty supreme in her illustrative powers and her composition of even fairly simple scenes is often superb.

I don't think she'd want to give up doing part of the artwork if she values control, someone to do tedious shit like grocery shopping or cleaning for her to free up time would probably be better.

Basically she needs a house husband/wife.

with a HUGE dong.

or, she can catch herself a sugar daddy of sorts, a wealthy renaissance style patron

>as an illustrated prose story
>just because of how much work and time it is putting it out as a comic.

Lolita comes to mind

I'm pretty sure Ashley doesn't earn enough to support that.

I volunteer.

A fujoshi who draws a zombie giving himself a blowjob by straight up ripping his head off his visible spine is a fujoshi who deserves all the awe and respect.

It has to be someone who could work from home and make turbobank and still shop and cook and clean
Or hire a maid I guess

>his visible spine
that's the knife hilt not spine

So this proves that Murkoph is Ssael

I love the notion that it's easier for him to just stick a knife in there and get it later than bother putting it down. He's definitely the kind of guy who'd have weapons hidden inside himself.

I hate morbi so fucking much

He's speaking flowery, but no

He's got priest's marking on his face, but that's also not a guarantee that he was one. Some have put forward that if not a former cleric, then he learned to mimic one to get close to victims

I hate that my dick is unsounded

>First Morbi was a /d/eviant and a drawfriend
>Later becomes a huge cunt
>The becomes a sjw
>Then becomes a shill
>Now he's a beggar
Fascinating transformation but depressing all the same.

In other news: Duane still confirmed for best dad, Nary loses the dadbowl

That's the opposite of news

Nobody's saying Nary isn't a shit father (and a shit person in general), but you can be a complete shit and still care about your child.

To be fair Nary was going up since the letter. Also Sette's an unreliable judge.

Remind me, did Sette eventually get raped by the guy before stabbing him in the balls?
Is ashley a pedo?

what, no

bad touch'd yeah, and unshirted, but she also has nothing there in the first place

Same.
The worst part is he keeps getting money. I don't think I've ever hated someone so hotly in my life.

I mean she has a mouth even though putting your dick in it is a recipe for death
and she eats so that means she must poop which means she must have a hole in her butt to poop from
Anyway good I'll start reading it again

I meant to say no nips when nothing there

Nobody knows what's below the belt exactly

>Nobody knows what's below the belt exactly

And ashley will gladly draw snakerape but she'll never draw sette porn
what a tragic world we live in
I do remember she said something to the dude before he tried to rape her, like" I don't have what you want"

to be fair, being her age, Sette might think that all men want boobs, since it's what they oogle at (and grope) with tavern wenches

It's all speculation anyway.

By the way does Ashley have a stealthy foot fetish or is it something people are just joking around

No foot fetish. She just hates drawing shoes.

most people hate to draw feet because they're hard and put shoes on their characters at all times. That's new.

Direct contact with Cred Forums rarely goes well for authors.

Other than ashley and abbadon and kaz, are there any examples?
And kaz isn't a really good example either

I'd say it's fairly popular. Ashley has a really successful patreon and has had 3 successful kickstarters that have gone well beyond the initial goal.

Neither is Abbadon.

I mean, he used to pass by sometimes and answer questions a lot like ashley does before the great shitpost waves of last year

Ashley does it right. Pops in sometimes to answer questions, ignores the idiots, gtfo's in short order. But she's older, I think, and isn't a snowflake baby fazed by the dregs of the internet.

>spawns autistic shitposters who spam threads on /tg/ and Cred Forums
>rants about Cred Forums on his discord
>rants about Cred Forums on Cred Forums
>admits that he finds the way the site has gone frustrating and taxing but still checks it out
>weird loop between discordites and Cred Forums posters creating a hidden influence group on threads
At the start it was fine, but the dude should chill out and leave off coming here (which I think he mostly has done now). I think abbadon is a cool dude with a cool comic for the most part but his posting here trainwrecked pretty badly. Plus he just directly and overtly 100% shilled K6BD here when he was starting out.

Agreed. Nothing asked or given, don't engage too directly. That's the only way to do it.

I was still fucked up about the last one not getting to the 3 book reprint.

>Poppy o'possum devolved from three-days-a-week colored comic to two-times a week black and white webcomic to "updates sometimes" during the week webcomic to "uuuh hiatus?" webcomic to "I'm gonna stop drawing things and writing things instead we cool yeah we cool" to "listen uh I that writing thing? I'm just gonna update it whenever okay" to vg cats tier joke
it hasn't updated in 2 (two) months without saying anything at all, no magnum opus like kaz's, just "listen, I'm becoming allergic to money and I don't really want to stay alive for long"

We can't be blamed for Kaz's lack of fucks to give about his own work

If anything, Tumblr and Reddit are worse for creators if Paranatural, Homestuck, and Poppy O'Possum are anything to go by. All of which spiraled downwards in a flurry of virtue-signalling, pandering, and soapboxing.
Shit, even Ava's Demon got harassed into hiatus by some psychotic tranny.

Not that Cred Forums is *good* for a CC, it's just that no webcomic has spiraled downward in a flurry of shitposting, irony, and dank memes.

I wonder who's behind this post

Same thing happened to Erfworld without engaging anyplace like that.

I don't know who you think I am, user, but I'm not them. What part of that post do you take issue with?

>Shit, even Ava's Demon got harassed into hiatus by some psychotic tranny
Ah, yeah. I remember that. That was weird. Shame about paranatural too, I remember liking it for a while, I think I stopped reading after the train bit

For me I am rarely bothered by so-called "pandering" as per but Paranatural went really really badly wrong on the pacing front. It was evident that not much beyond the first chapter had really been planned out, so the story just started to slow and grow arms and legs like crazy, with the quality of art suffering too.

What I don't understand about poppy is that the dude literally gets half my paycheck by drawing a page. Hell, now he just has to write like half a page of words instead. He could be living like a king. And yet he does nothing. even his lewd tumblr is super dead. He subsists off air.

On an opposite note Stand Still Stay Silent draws gorgeous artwork four times a week and hates the thought of patreon and just won't accept payment for her efforts.
I mean what the heck man. Look at fucking Lackdaisy. She gets 7K each bloody month and updates once every blue moon.

I was so disappointed when that happened. I want to keep reading Poppy but there's no appeal left in it. Unsounded's prose is better but I feel like it would suck most of the enjoyment out if Ash went down that path.

Minna Sundberg is like enormously and industrially talented, you can't really expect everyone to be like SSSS. That's beyond what people on Marvel/DC/Image deadlines would be putting out. Ashley also puts in a huge commitment, as does Abbadon really because he's generally drawing the page as he updates rather than having a buffer and still manages 2-3 times a week most weeks.

Lackadaisy is like lmao 'regular' updates but I don't care because holy fuck that comic.

Let us remember the good old days of poppers and forget about the new ones.
We know he's gonna pull the plug on it, the real question is "is he going to delete everything too afterwards"
I already bought her bloody books
I want to give that woman my goddamn money, she deserves every penny

Don't know what it is, Ashley also resisted doing Patreon for a long while.

What a strange thing. There's thousands of people who get money from patreon that shouldn't by any right be getting a single dollar and at the same time there's people who do incredible work and aren't that well known who refuse to get money.
I guess it's some psychological thing.

>Look at fucking Lackdaisy. She gets 7K each bloody month and updates once every blue moon.
At least Tracy's semi-regularly releasing SOMETHING and giving updates on what she's up to, not to mention the fact that the quality of what she is putting out is crazy good.
Like, she's got the only webcomic out there that I'd put above Unsounded in the art area.

Fucking Morbi, man. Poppy was my second-favorite webcomic for a while before he went and fucked it all up.

Some content creators are more driven than others, some are resistant to split the community, and some are depressive. Honestly I'm almost surprised Gunnerkrigg Court is as consistent as it is given how horribly Tom's life is going. I guess he uses it to cope whereas a lot of other writers come to see their comics as a chore that requires too much time and commitment to maintain.

>Honestly I'm almost surprised Gunnerkrigg Court is as consistent as it is given how horribly Tom's life is going.
The police finally caught up to him, huh.

What was your first one
Don't say prequel

Unsounded, of course.

I think a big part of this stuff can come from not knowing exactly where you're going to go. Like I'm sure if Ashley for some reason did end up going illustrated prose she would still have a general idea of the structure and content and pacing of whatever she put out. But I don't think the Poppy guy does have that.

It's like... when shounen manga are forced to continue after the big bad is defeated. Or all those 90s webcomics that were two guys playing videogames making jokes and started these long dramatic arcs and ended up with one of them being jesus and killing satan or some dumb shit. You need to know, kind of, in your head how you WANT something to be. Because you're gonna have to change it up as necessary.

Patreon comes with its own set of hassles and obligations and I can get how if you're wired a certain way you would not want to go down that route without being sure of it.

I hate to make a "webcomics I like the most" power chart but I do like unsounded and k6bd and oglaf and SSSS a whole lot. There's a bunch of other webcomics I check regularly whenever they update that I like too, but those are the top ones I think.
Oh, trash knight is gaining traction too.

At this point I'm down to following only one webcomic besides Unsounded regularly. Used to be I had ~5-10 I checked regularly or semi-regularly. I want to go back.

I can kind of understand the unwillingness to just take money from strangers so there's this compulsion to give SOMETHING to patrons, but I give Ashley $10 a month because I want to make sure the story continues, not because of any of the Patreon rewards. The high quality pages are nice, and the random bonus shit but if she gave absolutely nothing I'd still give $10 a month. I'm certainly deriving more than $10 of enjoyment a month from it.

If there's one thing about unsounded threads is that they're also usually really civil.

I would prefer Unsounded animated to live action. It'd be way too expensive to do it justice in live action, with all those fantastical monsters and constructs. It'd definitely be a labor of love though, not really something you could expect to make money.

It's extremely rare for threads to last this long. I think the plot revelations combined with finally seeing a lot of Nary made this one build up enough momentum to carry it through a couple days.

FUCK YOU ASS WHOLE

>Live action

No thanks

Can we take a moment collectively to rthink about just how best dad Duane is?

Thank you.

I think he's a shit dad actually.

Well shit user, why do you think that?

I think he's a pretty swell dad.

jesus fuck

But he's a wonderful husband and a great Da'.

Right, he's pretty good with Sette OK? And he was good with Mikaila at the age we saw her.

But despite everything he is a bit of a fascist asshole priest and were he not to have turned into a horrific undead monster and were to have continued to serve as a prestigious cleric in Alderode, I am 100% Mikaila and he would have butted heads pretty massively as she got older. It might have been even worse for a son, because Duane would have put far more expectation on any son of his. I mean, think where Duane's conduct actually got Mikaila and Leysa.

Cred Forums made Morbi though same with Hiimdaisy, Cred Forums didn't cause their problems they did that themselves.

patreon kills productivity, why should an artist put in effort if the fans are willing to pay them anyway simply to exist?
The temptation to be lazy and live off the patreon dole is too strong for even some of the most principled of artists.

...

I don't get this but I'd love an explanation

Fascist asshole goes a bit far, he lives in a fascist and patriarchal culture and so he is shaped by those things but at the core of it he is a good man.

We see that right before he died. Ssaelism and Alerode culture basically forbid women from becoming spellwrights. He tried to persuade Mikaila away from it but we see him relent before he dies, his upbringing and cultural beliefs pushed him to try to change Mikaila's mind, but his core decency led him to accept that she would not have her mind changed and agreed to teach her when she gets a bit older, as long as she doesn't cause a ruckus between now and then.

It is a compromise between his cultural beliefs and his desire to want the best for his children. Expecting someone born into such a society to shuck off all the cultural baggage that goes along with it and become a perfectly good person instantly is ludicrous.

In the Ask Sette/Duane blog Ashley has occasionally done Duane has begun to question keeping women out of pymary in general, and not just his daughter's exception, after hearing about what Vienne accomplished from Quigley. He wonders if perhaps that is one of Cresce's advantages, that if women are just as capable then Alderode is only pulling from 50% of its population and so has fallen behind.

I would imagine he'd be one of the fathers who is really anti-gay because they're big in the church and then their daughter comes out as gay and they see it's not that big of a deal. They don't believe their daughter is a monster or anything so it must be the anti-gay thing that's the issue so then they become pretty accepting even if they don't understand it.

>Duane
>Sexist
As far as the aldish go he's a goddamn gender egalitarian
He thought it was unfair that Sarthos had been born a woman and respected her for being brilliant, He thought is wife was one of the most brilliant people he had ever met and He was willing to teach Mikalia pymary despite it being illegal.

Do you read the comic? Duane eats people. Quigley inspired an opera, while Duane only inspired his own funeral and Mikaila's. It is some savage and yet also accurate shit talking.

Some guy did a "epic rap battles" thing with Duane and Quigley.

>Quigley
That's quigley?
It looked kinda like Duane.

I love these threads and how we can discuss Unsounded lore and porn without either side getting swallowed up by the other. And we still find time to discuss other webcomics too.

...

...

You really should look at it, it's one of my favorite fan produced things ever. unsoundedcomic.tumblr.com/post/170361747350/unsounded-rap-battles-of-history

...

>Prestigious

Nigga they were hard up for the money a promotion to composer would give

Seconding, it's fantastic.

those are some sick rhymes I gotta admit
quigley's game is stronger than duane I gotta say

Duane was a priest in good standing with a heroic military past in one of the two most important Ssaelit temples in existence. He absolutely was prestigious. A composer is literally as prestigious as an Aldish wright can possibly get. Prestigious doesn't mean "wealthy" senpai.

Clerics are prestigious/respected by don't have any pay. Due to this, clerics are commonly alreayd from wealthy families, otherwise they aren't able to support themselves.

I believe Duane supports himself by also teaching pymary at the Temple.

>a fascist
Alderode might be shit but they are also the only democratic nation in Kasslyne and while the castes are not equal Duane desperately believes in the promise of equality.
>asshole
He's probably the nicest character in the story outside of Matty and Lori Ripa.
>as a prestigious cleric
His family was pretty poor, also soud aren't very well liked in alderode and ssaelit aren't liked well anywhere.
>I am 100% Mikaila and he would have butted heads pretty massively as she got older.
Probably since they are both pretty bullheaded but he had already resolved to teach her pymary before they had died.
>It might have been even worse for a son, because Duane would have put far more expectation on any son of his
Pretty unlikely, Duane did not follow in his father's footsteps it would be odd for him to expect that of Simon.
> I mean, think where Duane's conduct actually got Mikaila and Leysa.
He acted out of a sense of honor in the defense of innocents, and while it possibly played a role in his death he is not the one that actually killed himself or Mikalia.

And despite this Bodie wasn't giving him the time of thought

the motadwe thought highly of him but his station still wasn't particularly high, also considering the prejudices against the gold caste

fuck you

it just flows better than Duane's. You can't deny this.

>the only democratic nation in Kasslyne
u wot

Yeah?
Cresce is a monarchy, so is Shartshane although one with the king being a puppet and it actually being ruled by an oligarchy, Ulestry is a theocracy and the various other countries seem to be much of the same as those three.
Alderode has Vits council which seems to be a parliamentary style democratic state with each council member being a chosen representative of the castes.

I don't recall, was it ever described how Vits lords are appointed?

Also for some reason until recently I didn't know there were just four of them. Definitely makes Lemuel's concerns about a rebalancing of the council more justified

>Alderode has Vits council which seems to be a parliamentary style democratic state with each council member being a chosen representative of the castes.
The actual council is 4 people so it's definitely not all the castes.

>I don't recall, was it ever described how Vits lords are appointed?
Elected by eligible men who live in the ghers, I think.

>It's extremely rare for threads to last this long
Not too rare, but they've been in a lull for awhile. There's been a lot to talk about recently, but for a good chapter or so there just wasn't too much to discuss over. That's just how it is sometimes. When Ethelmik was getting Ethelmik'd, threads could be up for awhile. Obviously this particular thread is a bit of an outlier because we've begun discussing broader topics.

>ywn read the Silver detonation for the first time again

shit was a fucking TRIP

Also, what an odd choice to make giant dogs the primary beasts of burden of kasslyne

Not really. Dogs are beasts of burden for any culture that doesn't have horses.

It'll blow up again. And it'll be even worse this time. And I'm convinced it's going to kill a lot of beloved named characters. Calling it now!

Duane is sexist, but it's a character flaw, not an all consuming part of his character that makes him a monster. Duane is a fundamentally decent man who is nevertheless a proper Aldishman. When forced to choose between his morality and his socializing, he has chosen the former. But he's still had to choose. Sarthos he got to know a just another guy before the reveal happened, so the perception in his mind was already incredibly positive. Also perhaps the relief that he wasn't gay. He loved his wife, but his wife was also his female counterpart: a skilled woman of strong morals who was nonetheless a proper Aldishwoman. She didn't necessarily challenge his preconceptions about what was right and proper for a lady. Mikaila he only relented upon after what seems to have been years of struggle since the day she could make the world move.

We haven't really seen what Duane's like when the situation is less favorable to his temperament. We see him easily descend into petty insults about Sonorie in a bar like setting, hardly the most nuanced of places so I don't hold it against him. But what about when he meets our grouchy female priest who raises girls to be eaten? Or even just a standoffish female officer with a poor sense of propriety? I doubt Duane will come off too favorably there. But I also doubt Duane will ever be like the man most people imagine when the word "sexist" or "misogynist" comes up these days. They've become incredibly loaded words, ones that come to encompass a person's entire personality and being. If there's one thing Unsounded is good at, it's the nuance of the characters.

We know Delicieu will appear again this chapter so it's practically confirmed that something awful will happen.

He's on the cover, but it might not mean much, big plot event wise. I doubt much with the silver is going to happen ion the scale of Ethelmik until we get to the place it and the Queen are heading. Probably just gonna fuck with Ana a bit. It's been a hard chapter to predict though. I didn't think we'd be getting Shartes being Shartes scenes either.

who is this sarthos person that's been mentioned a couple of times

There's a written story about Duane's time in pymary school. Sarthos was a fellow student he had a relationship with.

The Silver third option Duane fucked and ruined the life of in magic high school.

Oh no

what the fuck did he do

Side story character. You know how there are a few cultures in the world where if a woman didn't have a man available to be a head of household a woman could choose to live as a man for the rest of her life, with all the duties that entailed including later finding a suitable wife?

In Alderode if you're a woman who can perform pymary you have three options. Give up on it, learn womanly pymary like how to make the house smell and look pretty, or live as a man for the remainder of your life including becoming a husband to a wife of your own and eventually adopting children and be allowed to perform pymary. A third option is a woman who leaves behind her life to become a man for those purposes. Sarthos is a third option Duane met and had a thing with.

Does her having a relationship with another dude invalidate that status or something?

Don't forget that fraternizing between different castes is a big no-no.

Have we seen any silvers? I feel like aside from the purple eyes, is there that much difference between platinum and silver hair?

To be honest I don't know what happens in the story beyond what I wrote there, I haven't read it myself yet.

We've seen the silver woman at the black tongue party Silvers might have dark skin, while Plats are pale

Dark skin.
The hot girl in Juste that Bastion banged was one, as were a couple of the named characters in the flashback.

casualvillain.com/Unsounded/Stories/emanations.html

SARTHOS SPEAKS TO YOU.

>Duane is so attracted to Sarthos he almost believes he's gay before the reveal
>Mikaila is super into Will, who apparently Duane rags on all the time if you read the side material as he's kind of a shitty wright, also his dad's a dick
Them Adeliers got the silver fever. I do too.

shit, forgot my image after taking time to track it down

Kind of? You get to take on all the privileges of being a man so you must also accept all the burdens and limitations of being a man. As has been said you're supposed to marry and provide for your wife and children, that sort of shit. I seem to recall Ashley talking about how gays are treated in Alderode and while I can't recall perfectly I think it's a thing that's "fine" behind closed doors and whatever as long as you're doing the duty of your sex. Having children for both, but for men providing for a wife and children and for women maintaining the household and raising the children.

I imagine being a Third Option gives you even less wiggle room about how you should act, since you are the odd one out you are likely expected to be the exemplary model of masculinity.

Ashley makes the best boys.

>Duane is sexist, but it's a character flaw, not an all consuming part of his character that makes him a monster.
First time dealing with crazies on the internet?
>Duane is sexist
>that makes him a monster
That simple. While a rational person might understand a character (or human being) can be flawed and still moral an internet extremist can not. At this point I just avoid identity politics and am much happier for it.

Being gay is worse for dudes (and so third options) in Alderode than it is for girls, IIRC.

Being Third Option'd honestly sounds like a fairly comfy life for a particular sort of lesbian.

I feel that's true in most patriarchal societies. Women are lesser, so women fucking other women is whatever. A man subjugating himself to another man has put himself below other men, like a woman.

Silvers are brown-skinned, while plats have that super albino complexion.

Some but not all, e.g. lesbianism was never illegal in England but medieval Germany put lesbians to death.

I would like to see something like this for the Aldish castes.

Well, there's suitcase from BCB. He tried partecipating in the threads last year. It didn't end well

can you even imagine how much racial-emphasis porn there must be between Cresce and the Aldish castes

I am really worried about how people are going to react when Duane goes Full Sexist Nationalist Asshole, like Cope's implied is coming. I hope she knows to just ignore them and keep doing her thing, but it's real demotivating when you have SJWs constantly spreading lies and shit about you.

Hasn't she been accused of being a pedophile before? She can handle it.

>tfw beautiful head of hair like glamour-Duane
If I ever lose it to balding I'm killing myself.

Something I rarely see people mention is her ability to keep to schedule. That's a great talent in itself, and most webcomic artists should try to emulate it.

And the best brown girls

The fact that she has a schedule and keeps to it and lets us know if there is any deviation from the schedule is a fucking godsend.

Too many creative projects I have followed over the years end after months or years of delays with vague reasons or promises of when they'd be back.

The comic is going on hiatus at X.
It will be back at Y.
This is because of Z.
All of this happening months before X.

And having that kept to is incredibly refreshing.

Or worse, they give you a schedule and they blatantly fail to keep it

morbiiiiiiiiiii

Sounds familiar.

what manner of glamors could hid tiddies like those, GOT DANG

You don't get glamoured. You get your ovaries pymarically burned out and cut your hair short and (probably?) change your name. Maybe you wear a binder or something?

Ashley had I think a third option character who was one of those fanatical Gefendur knights in Sharteshane in her old RP and I've gotta say I'd be super interested in seeing how that played out.

Oh shit I didn't know they burned out their ability to have kids.

Yeah. The other thing I forgot is that you don't go third option just to do pymary. You can do it for any male exclusive career, and there are a host of those in Alderode. The governor of Duane's home province is third option.

There's some insight here into them (and into Bastion's family and why he has such a death complex):

unsoundedcomic.tumblr.com/post/141678851300/perhaps-youve-already-been-asked-but-what-are#notes

unsoundedcomic.tumblr.com/post/163007934280/can-you-tell-us-more-about-marhettinn-or-is-that-a#notes

If you think about that "pymary is for men and if you were meant to be a wright you'd be born a man" and take it to Mikaila who was born a tacit caster, I think you start to see how painful and spiteful things can be in Alderode.

Oh yeah I knew about the governor and other male jobs. Pymary of course is just the big one we have a lot of exposure to since we really haven't seen much of Alderode. It's still something of a mystery.

Dug up some older still stuff:

>Can a Third Option wright get hitched? What is Alderode's attitude to homosexuality, generally? Cresce seems fine with it?

>Sure, women who choose to live as men are in Aldish society's eyes men in all ways. They're not only allowed to marry but, as men, they're expected to marry. The Aldish don't see female/female relationships in the same class as they do male/male. Ladies getting it on is natural and sinless (and to many guys, hot); men getting it on is dirty, unproductive and debauched. Cresce's acceptance of all sexuality is just one more reason for the two countries to despise each other.

The question above that was about FM Hunters, which might be the most anime thing in the setting and which is totally the thing you'd make a show/vidya about.

And here I think is the very original answer. Ashley actually kept this shit going for months on the old formspring Q&A with people trying to guess what third option meant before someone came close:

>This was probably guessed at but, eh, what the heck! Would the Third Option be cross-dressing/impersonating the opposite sex? Or maybe even a sex change? I expect an evasive answer but I couldn't help but guess.

>I actually don't mind answering this, it's not a big spoiler, just an aspect of Aldish culture. You're pretty much spot-on. In Alderode women are allowed to give up their womanhood and live as men. It's an extremely old practise that began during the great civil war that saw the abolition of the Crown and the beginning of Vits rule. There was a wright shortage when Cresce attacked, and Vits - which prides itself on compromise - thought the thing to do was take a bunch of Silver and Plat girls, dress them as boys, treat them as boys, and send them off to learn offensive pymary and join the army. Afterwards they were expected to go back to being girls (women, at this point) but some of them didn't want to. Again, in the spirit of compromise, Vits said if they agreed to undergo sterilization, bound their breasts, and lived in all ways as men, they could be men.

>Since then it's become the seldom spoken of Third Option: if a girl's parents want it, they can raise her as a boy and she can have all the rights of a male - but ONLY if in pursuit of Pymary and if she agrees to the rules. This is not some solution for the transgendered or gender inequality, mind - it's to solve the perceived problem of squandered pymary talent.

>It's also slightly taboo. It doesn't happen that often and it's really not a subject of discussion in polite company.

I used to follow and ask all the Q&A extra stuff on the comic religiously but I pretty much spaced out after it moved from formspring. I dunno how much that 'pursuit of pymary' thing holds up at this point.

>what did he do to her
Take her virginity which is gay

You mean his virginity, don't you? You would not want people to think you are not a proud Aldish citizen would you?

>unsoundedcomic.tumblr.com/post/141678851300/perhaps-youve-already-been-asked-but-what-are#notes

Delicieu was an Ald?

>ywn break another man's hymen
Why even live?

casualvillain.com/Unsounded/Stories/orphans.html

These are just full of info, like what the scar/burn mark on Quigley's chest is

Yeah the original one, Bastion's master. The current Delicious Lizard appears to be one of the two-toes Delicieu experimented on and gave the ability to use pymary through mysterious circumstances.

I went back to check and huh, it looks like Horace was at the Black Tongues' meeting as a patron.

Two-Toes have a native pymary themselves.

ah the unsounded tumblr archive is full of treasures, thanks for turning me on to it

Please don't be this much of a creeper.

What are people's theories on Lady Ilganyag?

>saving pictures of old women

Do they? Where has that been said? I thought a big part of Delicieu's original work on two-toes was to give them a soul and therefore let them to use pymary.

So not pymary but something else.

I have such a hard time with Unsounded's cosmology. I need to give the whole thing a reread.

In the interest of prolonging this thread's life, what are you having trouble with?

In brief

>cosmic chaos

>Riv and Yerta create the First World in her womb

>They disfavor it for whatever reason and decide to start again

>Create the Khert to mind the universe and create the new (present world)

And after that, depending on who you ask, Sonum Ssael is murdered, wanders the Khert for ages until he finds the dwelling place of the gods, kills them, and takes their place

Damn, Vienne

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Which probably digs at her a little bit.

>depending on who you ask
you mean asking the people who are right versus asking the crazies

>grouchy female priest who raises girls to be eaten

remember, Duane is
>a proper Aldishman

and that entails believing that both sides of Alderode, the gefendur and the ssaelit, should respect each others customs and horrific traditions

He thinks they should coexist

He's got nothing but scorn for the gefendur though, and this is a CRESCIAN gefendur

>Horrific traditions

Have we pulled any skeletons out of the Ssaelit closet yet?

Delicieu's reference to "a god" and then "the old god" during his fight with Duane.

You'd assume it is Duane's conversation with Lady Ilganyag but Delicieu was a black tongue himself and should have talked with her. And he blames Bastion in the conversation, and Bastion's the one Black Tongue Lady Ilganyag didn't give up on.

So who's the 'god' and who's the 'old god'? They come across as separate. You could see a Ssaelwasright.txt overthrow of the 'old gods' here except Ilganyag is incredibly dismissive of Ssael herself.

They burn people alive in public executions?

My current suspicion is she is Tirna, or an inspiration for her. The biggest clue is that they both have stark red/black colouring. Also, this page makes it sound like she's more contemptuous of Man than she lets on to Duane, fitting the dual interpretation in Gefendur theology of Tirna being either repentant about trying to kill humanity (having this character in interactions with Duane) or still enraged by it.

IAWTC. Shared theme of child murder too.

Too bad Bastion is a eunuch.

Dick still very much functional. It's an important part of the canon.

that's weird?

Well the Delicieu Lizard there likely sin't the Delicieu that was a Blacktongue, just taking his name. So he may have incomplete information on Lady Ilganyag.

The first reference is either Lady Ilganyag or Murkoph most definitely. He mentions walking the khert and meeting a god, specifically this past night. So that's pretty clear.

The old god is a bit more of a puzzle. He's saying the old god will deal with Bastion. I have half a mind to say the old god might be Ruck. If Lady Ilganyag is considered a god, as a senet beast, perhaps another one might as well? Knowing what we know now, Ruck did deal with Bastion and perhaps if Delicieu is working with Ruck he would know that he's heading to Juste to deal with the Blacktongues and by extension, Bastion.

If that's genuinely the worst the Ssaelit have on offer then it's nothing. The Gefendur eat children, for God's sake.

It's almost, kind of, like Christianity pitted against old Roman paganism. The Ssaelit faith is pretty blatantly based on Christianity, and one of the big points of the early Christians was that there was no more need for blood sacrifice.

I think we're going to find out some bad shit about Ssaelism in the coming chapters. We've had the best face of the religion shown to us by way of Duane, and that's really it. Meanwhile we've seen a lot of Cresce and other Gefendur areas and their practices. I would bet some funky shit is gonna be revealed.

Ashley isn't one to write things black and white with one obvious good or bad guy.

Pretty much every bad thing people have said about them so far is flack for their presumption of Ssael’s god slaying or general hate of Alderode as a whole tainting it

I feel like some of their truly gnarlier practices would have been referred to by now in some fashion

who's that brown semen demen

Knock is such a nice girl.

That was months ago. It's not the same cigar. Glass said it was 'cause it looked like it was worth something.

The problem is he's counting on Bell to actually be his own man and not an efheby's bitch.

That's Ana, or Anadyne Frummagem. You should read the comic if you haven't, it's really fun.

you have to remember how little we know about what's actually going on in Alderode. That country's gonna have a few surprises in store by the time we get there

>frummagem
hmm

so she's basically an older version of sette

I still think Sette is somehow a pawn of that one Goddess that Ssael supposedly spared/talked to.

No, they're pretty different. Knock is closer to Sette.

Tirna? Yeah I've seen people theorize that before too. It's worth noting that even some Gefendur believe Tirna was confined to a mortal existence before Ssael ever came into the picture.

personality-wise, yes. Body-wise, no.

She's not exactly like either of them because she's got more family loyalty and, for better or worse, takes pretty much any hardship as a challenge rather than a limitation. But yeah, I was speaking of personality. I can imagine Sette would admire Knock and think Ana was a bit dippy.

I now have this 'What If?' thing in my head where Sette is of age with Anadyne and Knock-Me-Down and ends up taking Stockyard's place in breaking out and setting up an operation in Cresce.

God, that would be glorious. I hope Sette doesn't die or sacrifice herself at the end of all this. I want to legit see her the queen of thieves.

Nah, she'd call herself King of Thieves. Sounds like more like da, and being da is her endgame. KING SETTE!

So she's trans? How progressive!

Oh for fuck’s sake user

I think the ugliest part of Ssaelism might not be the religion itself. Remember the scheming that was happening in the flashback with Duane? Ssaelism is the underdog religion. It's practiced primarily by a caste that isn't well liked or well trusted, its practitioners have been hit particularly hard by the weeping plague, and they might lose representation on Vits. They're considering going to some very ugly lengths to 'balance' that.

Do you actually think Christianity was the first or only religion to not require human sacrifice? Fucking stupid Christfags.

The abrahamics NEVER required human sacrifice you dolt

user refers to the end of the sacrifice of animals as was done in the temple because Christ's death was the ultimate sacrifice, negating any further need for blood to be spilled for the atonement of sin as the jews had done for ages

Fucking stupid fedoras/paganfags

You really believe that?

Man, the old testament is full of human sacrifice by the ealy jews. Archaeologists also agree that human sacrifice was common there originally.

THE SHARTS ARE PUTTING SILVER INTO THE WATER

IT'S MAKING THE TWO-TOES GAY

Unless Bell is being controlled by Ruck for Sonorie as an excuse to use the Silver and wipe out Alderode For Good while keeping her hands clean.
