Why couldn't they keep the Nick cast? It was perfect.

What am I even looking at right now.

>We're being respectful of the franchise

>Weird ass energy weapons
>Raph is the leader
>Leo is a "trickster"
>Ugly art-style
>Changing weapons

Yup, suuuuper respectful.

Most of the changes are just window dressing and don't mean much, but making Raph "the leader" and Leo "the trickster" is the most colossally bullshit thing. This is Venus de Milo levels of missing the point.

>but making Raph "the leader" and Leo "the trickster" is the most colossally bullshit thing
No more bullshit than making April objectively unattractive.

Always a good sign.

I know pixel cuck is too much of a wet sponge to stand up against a toy company, but has anyone else directly insulted the new designs to the showrunners yet? If so, what is their response?

Ever notice how most incarnations of TMNT hate Bebop and Rocksteady?

Laird hated the 80's cartoon pretty passionately, which is why none of the material from it popped up in subsequent iterations of TMNT until he sold the franchise to Viacom.

Now Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang are fucking everywhere. They were in the 2012 cartoon, they're in the IDW comic, they even made it into the 2014 Paramount movie.

funny thing.

Rob Paulsen is voice directing this show.

Remember when paul feig said something similar at first about fembusters, and then went crazy and started insulting everyone as a misogynist after all the complaints. I wonder if the criticism will break any of these theee fuckers the same and theyll get insulting and offended on social media in a similar way.

Ignoring 2003 turtles again. It’s a sad world we live in when the best turtles cartoon is the least liked.

Based laird hating the shit show that started the decline of the turtles.

>hurr look how edgy i am hating on an actually good tv show and characters because its not like my edgy comcis turtles
I cant stress this enough, take a long walk off a short pier and never post here again.

Eastman was always more accepting of different versions of the turtles, while Laird was more persnickety.

The way Laird tells it, Eastman kind of browbeat Laird into approving Venus de Milo because Saban wouldn't greenlight Next Mutation without her and it was the straw that broke the camel's back on their friendship. Eastman sold his share of TMNT to Laird not long after that.

Fuck man, didn’t mean to hit such a sensitive nerve. I’m sorry that not everybody loves ur shitty childhood show.

Also the oj comics are objectively better than all the shows and I never said the turtles had to be serious and edgy to be good, I just said the first cartoon was trash. True patricians know that 2003 turtles is the best turtles cartoons.

Finally, I’ll fucking fight you if you message me disagreeing instead of apologising.

Eastman is a filthy sellout. Laird has my respect. But at the same time i’d probably do the same thing as Eastman sell my franshise for money if ever I made something that became big.

rest in peace sweet prince(ss)

87 turtles were god tier and you seriously need to end your miserable excuse of an existence if you disagree.

I wish they were more tongue-in-cheek about nerd rage. Just as long as its not TTGo levels of smugness.

Hey, you better take back what you just said or ur done for mate.

They really need to stop making April a kid

Wait, what? I thought 2003 was the favorite series?

It's cool that you're nostalgic for it but the 80's cartoon is trash, dude. The pilot season is the best the show ever was.

The writing was lazy and derivative, the animation was horrendous, and there were tons of small mistakes where the wrong turtle would be speaking or there would be two Donatellos on screen. It was a crappy show shoved out the door to sell toys.

That's not the biggest problem of the picture, but the fact that apparently 80's was made in 1984. Also, the logo that they have put above 1987 is actually used to sell old 80's toys

>I wish they were more tongue-in-cheek about nerd rage.
How about they dont faggot
All the life energy i wasted on those videos...

No, everybody hates it for some reason. I’ll never understand why. And a lot of the people who grew up watching the first cartoon seem to think it’s too serious or edgy.

I think the 2003 series has some legal issues where they can't really reference or promote it too much. I know for a fact they can't get any of the VAs for it in a crossover because they were non-union.

...

With KrangShredder? No thanks

Well that sucks. And if that’s the case the worst part about not being able to acknowledge it is that it’ll be completely forgotten at one point and future interactions of the turtles will probably avoid using it as a source of influence.

It’s not a perfect show but it did so much else right. Plus you can’t deny before being revealed as a utrom, 2003 shredder as pretty badass.

>We're being respectful of the franchise
>Changed characters personalities
>Turned splinter into that... thing.

*teenager

Not really, no. But to each their own.

>Turned splinter into that... thing.
Its called down syndrome and you wil be fucking respectful shitlord

Oh shit what if he looks like a goblins because he does actually have Down syndrome in the show because the writers wanted to go full sjw

Utrom Shredder made total sense in the context of the show (his feud with the guardians was foreshadowed super early) and it suited the more sci-fi feel the show had, but yeah I wasn't a huge fan of it.

I loved Utron Shredder. People hated that twist?

>TMNT
>centered in anything but lodsamone

How naive of you, Cred Forums

Being an alien made him more cool to me. I dont understand why that triggers so many people. Its not like a twist like the mandarin when it made something less cool then it really is.

I hated it because it made the show more sci fi and less ninja, and I hate when tmnt shows do that. There needs to be an even balance of ninja, sci fi and teenage slice of life in tmnt.

>the fucking hair pieces
Kek, but why though?

Jesus Christ, is that the quality standard that the new toys will have? Disgusting.

Shredder is best as a normal human.

In your eyes.

Well you're wrong, but hey, opinions, man

Laird was the guy that favored the more sci-fi tinged stories, while Eastman was more about the gritty street level stories. 2K3 was closely supervised by Laird and his influence can be seen very clearly.

Yes

Ninja shitbis the most boring aspect of TMNT though, the mutants and sci fi stuff is the only great parts

That’s why I said there needs to be an even balance. Too much ninja stuff would suck. Also there’s nothing stopping decent writers from making ninja bits that don’t suck.

But even the scifi shit becomes too much and it thus turns to shit.

Incorrect.

Damn, that's awesome. Is this his first time directing? Maybe a start of a new path for him, hope he's successful.

Its never actually gritty or cool in the cartoons though

True. The cartoons are made for kids. If they're good enough for adults to like them that's a bonus but they're ultimately made to sell toys.

I'll be waiting for it.

Sauce?

>what is filename

Tales of the TMNT v2 #36

Tristan Jones's run on Tales was fucking amazing. And when he was paired up with Paul Harmon it was even better. Some of the best TMNT comics ever made.

I wonder what Super Shredder is gonna look like? You can tell how great a TMNT adaptation is from how cool their Super Shredder looks.

Yeah, thats why i prefer all the crazy sci fi stuff in them.

You know, I wanted to get into the original comics but the space stuff is really fucking annoying to me.
I'm assuming if I skip over the issues with all that sci-fi alien garbage, I'm going to miss the plot when they return to Earth?

I just want to read more stuff with the Foot and Karai and Casey Jones and stuff. Not "we're magical space ninjas!"

Secret History of the Foot Clan is my fav TENT book.

>I'm assuming if I skip over the issues with all that sci-fi alien garbage
I want to punch you in the nads for making me this angry from the awfulness of your views, i hope youre happy

>I know for a fact they can't get any of the VAs for it in a crossover because they were non-union.

God I hate the VA Union leaders.

It's not interesting to me.
I enjoyed the Utrom stuff in TMNT 2003. I didn't enjoy their adventures on the Triceritron homeworld

It's going to be shit

As long as they heavily fetishize April's ass every episode all other sins will inevitably be forgiven.

The thing with the Utroms and the trip into space is really the only huge sci-fi thing that happens in the Eastman and Laird material. I think it's four issues altogether? Most everything else is more grounded ninja stuff, except for maybe Donatello's microseries issue.

So for the most part, Vol.1 takes places all on Earth apart from those two storylines?
I can slog through it in that case.

Add
>Fat splinter
That makes me angrier than everything else.

Don't forget to read Tales of the TMNT v1 while they're on the farm.

Hun is shit so he'll probably make it in the new series.

I liked Hun. Until they reduced him to generic "lolz crud I fell!" garbage.
He was a good opposite for Casey. Then again both of them got switched to "lolz comedy classic" characters

I love the insane bastard. Ch'rell resorting to destroy the multiverse just to get rid of the turtles is a level of petty even Black Manta strives for.

Unions in general were a mistake. They seem like good ideas at first but they go horribly wrong.

Calm down, nerd. Here, watch this video. It's Batman-focused, but you could use it as well.

youtube.com/watch?v=d6UDEi8H43M

Love that adult manchildren who can't get over the shitty toy commercials they liked when they were four are still so involved that they sabotage the shitty toy commercials of the next generation.

Hun becoming Casey’s dad in the Idw series was the coolest thing to happen to the character

I loved how he just kept mutilating stockman every time he fucked up

That black dudes hat makes me think the opposite.
They're going to push all the agenda.

>Skip 2003
>No Mirage logo
>1987 in Mirage spot

They desrve to be sabotaged for being shit. Also fuck you for using the “lol manchildren grow up” excuse when MCU and star wars are trying their best to appeal to grown normies and ruin them to appeal to their awful entertainment preferences

yo fags i want to get into the turtles where do i start?

As a Japanese human

Otherwise, like Utrom Shredder and pre-reshoots White Shredder, they're weeaboos

>Leaving out the best cartoon of the series
Are they just jealous that they can never match the 2003 turtles?

>and pre-reshoots White Shredder
I thought the whole white shredder was always just a rumor

niggangelo is kind of hot

It worked for Wolverine and the X-men.

That or 80sfags controlling everything so they force you to think the stupid toy commercial they grew up with is the only incarnation of the entire franchise 1984-style.

That show was awful.

So they did designed the turtles to look black now, god this is going to fail spectacularly...

Eastman stopped caring about TMNT after the movie deal; he used the money made off the first cartoon and toy line, to buy Heavy Metal and turned it into a godless porno comic to promote his trophy wife's failed modeling career and the movie deal basically gave him enough money to stop giving a shit about the original comic.

Partly because Eastman realized that the original vision of the franchise was overwritten in the minds of the public with the cartoon and decided to just roll with it. Laird was the one who never fucking forgave the 87 cartoon for becoming "THE" version of the franchise in the minds of everyone.

Eric Sachs = Oroku Saki

Replacement Shredder wasn't even named.

Also the tie-in game or something didn't separate them

Actually that show worked (and I use "worked" loosely here) because of everything else. Cyke and Wolvie were WASTED on that mess. Wolverine could barely use his claws.

Better than 90s and Evolution at least.

Though then again, 96% of Marvel cartoons suck shit with the good ones getting unfairly cancelled and replaced by shit.

The space arc only ran for about 4-5 issues (IIRC it's issues #4-8, with #8 being a swords and sorcery type X-Over with Cerebus that serves as a coda for the space arc).

The space arc is relevant however in that without it, you don't get the backstory for the Space Tyrannisaurses that become a major plot point in Return to New York.

Hahahahaha, no it isn't. Fuck off with this meme already.
It's easily the worst X-Men cartoon.

The Kurt episodes and the future episodes were enjoyable

I know we should be talking about the trainwreck of a cartoon but, wtf is the black guy wearing on his head? It's like a friggen evil clone of Wander's hat or something...

>They really need to stop making April a kid

You know this is really the big issue I have right here. You can make her whatever but let her be an adult.

>Better than the 90's
Oh boy I was trolled, good show sir. You were sneaky.

The difference is that WatX did everything it could to make Cyclops into a putz to justify Wolverine being a leader, despite the fact that there other people qualified for the job as well.

They have a chance here. They could actually have Leo slowly mature and grow into his role as the leader.

>how do we make Michelangelo cool and hip but at the same time wacky and a hilarious goofball in the present day? I know let’s make him black
Guaranteed he’ll speak exclusively using black lingo

03 is just as much of a toy commercial friendo. Remember that shitty battlewagon they had?

So does no one on Cred Forums know about how much of a suck up and shill pixel dan is?

the perfect clevage

I understand the need for Unions, especially in certain areas. The Voice Actors one however comes across as the scummiest one that I'm aware of.

At least the IDWverse took its time with them and turned all three into real threats.

The IDWverse may be leaning farther into mutant nonsense then ninja action for some, but it is taking its time and building up the cast slowly.

Sorry, I don't like having one of Marvel's shitty XTREEEEEEEEEME decade being thrown at me nonstop.

Triceratons are always a low point.

>Laird was the one who never fucking forgave the 87 cartoon for becoming "THE" version of the franchise in the minds of everyone.

Peter Laird and Stan Sakai were close friends before TMNT got huge, when they were both just normal guys toiling away on their black-and-white indie comics. Sometimes I wonder, who was the smart one? Sakai, the guy that refused to sell out his vision and toils away in obscurity to this day, or Laird, a multi-millionaire whose vision was eternally compromised by a crappy cartoon that permanently supplanted the source material as the most recognizeable version of the TMNT?

youtu.be/MfyfX_ZKTgQ
Eh. He sounds all right so far even though it was definitely an affirmative action casting decision

I tried watching rips recently. Frankly the 4kids audiobalancing is so terrible it's hard to watch. Their shitty soundtrack overwhelms whatever dialogue is going on.

Yeah but at least it wasn't all campy and stupid.

I do admit that the old toys did have a unique "cartoony/ridiculous" feel that the more "restrained" 2003 ones lacked.

That's the tragedy of TMNT. The best shit comes from balancing their two influences.

I didn't mean to imply that the IDW comic was bad for using those characters.

But it's kind of obnoxious that every new version of TMNT can't mine the 80's cartoon material fast enough. Bebop and Rocksteady are fine, but I would never consider them core elements of the TMNT franchise.

Though I'm sure there are plenty of 30-somethings that buy TMNT shirts from Hot Topic that would tell me I'm wrong.

Ch'rell and Shredder being the same character was retarded. However, Ch'rell as an even angrier Utrom is pretty good. Has IDW touched on Ch'rell yet? I know they teased him once. But I'm like a year behind.

is anyone gonna tell that user...?

>The best shit comes from balancing their two influences.

It's nuts how true this is. All you have to do is look at Bodycount by Eastman, and TMNT vol 4 by Laird. Even the TMNT vol 1 issues they wrote individually are noticeably worse. It's a case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.

At least Bebop and Rocksteady are being portrayed the best way: Two idiots that are powerhouses and a good team.

I can agree. Other than Krang being early, they let the Wolf cartoon stuff build slowly in IDW. It took like 20 issues for Bebop and Rocksteady to show up? And they remained an actual threat to the turtle for a long while. Hell, I'm not sure they ever took them down in a straight fight yet.

>Yeah but at least it wasn't all campy and stupid.
user, campy and stupid is unavoidable in TMNT, in every version. 2003 should get some praise for trying to make a dramatic serialized action cartoon when absolutely nobody else wanted to, but it was the most awkward teenage version of TMNT there is. It's deathly afraid of anything that might be considered "goofy" and constantly tries to assert it's hardcore while still under almost entirely the same censor restraints as the shows it disdained and tried to separate from. It doesn't reach anywhere close to the comics it's trying to emulate, and the only times when it really carves out a unique identity are when it somehow bombs into terrible sci-fi territory like Fast Forward. It's not bad, but it's far from a masterpiece or a "definitive" turtles.

Frankly Laird was smarter until he let the bitterness consume him. Yeah more people may know the goofy kids cartoon, but he maintained control of the comic, and the other media kept his comic in peoples minds for a long time. If he ever released his stuff through a decent publisher and consistently, he'd still be well known I think.

Then again Sakai lives in Hawaii which isn't cheap. So I guess he's doing okay financially, and if he loves doing the comic, than that's good enough and he wins too.

The IDW books are cool, enjoyed a few

I grew up on it, and while I will always have a loving memory of that show, it's no masterpiece. If anything, the Red Sky seasons are actually written a bit better than the stuff I remember most.

It's not a masterpiece by any means, or even a great cartoon, but I think most of us can say that it is what made us fans in the first place.

I'm just so glad IDW has given the triceratops thing some logic.

True or fucking true: The original movie is surprisingly one of the most faithful and atmospheric comic book movies ever made.

I thought it was fucking retarded. It completely downplayed the ninja themes of the show and turned it 100% sci-fi space stuff, which I never really liked for TMNT beyond Triceraton shenanigans.

I like it best when Shredder is a human. It makes him feel more effective and scary when all the other characters are mutants, aliens, and monsters, yet a normal man in armor is the deadliest fighter through his sheer ruthlessness and cunning.

You could not be anymore wrong my dude. The bantz between the turtles in that movie made it a fun watch though.

He hasn't shown up since he vanished in the Leatherhead arc. They finally went through Krang's court trial, and now Triceratons are invading Earth because of misunderstandings and Bishop being a dumb asshole.

It makes me of two minds about IDW Shredder. He survived and thrived through the main Krang arc, but he died before Triceraton war in the streets and other insanity could be unleashed. I agree with doing a full and complete Shredder storyline before he can become a Team Rocket gag, but was it too soon or not? I'm not sure.

Nigh perfect blend of 1987 and Mirage

Preach my friend

>The original movie is surprisingly one of the most faithful and atmospheric comic book movies ever made.

Speaking as a hardcore TMNT fan, the 1990 movie is the perfect synthesis of the entire franchise. It is the platonic ideal of TMNT.

Dude entire scenes were lifted from the comic. Meeting April in the lair was the same, rooftop between Raph and the Foot was the Leo and Foot Micro switched to balance the movie, the move to Northampton was there, the fight with Shredder was still largely a fight between Splinter and Oroku Saki. It still ended with his death and so forth.

True, but it's moreso a 10/10 mix of Mirage stories and the cartoon's personality.

>Leaving out 2003
And just like that they've lost me.

Logic YES. But are they interesting and good characters? No. The Triceratons in IDW are get this....

- Dinosaur mutants who became their own species sort of speak.

- Then they are mass cloned for the most part so there's no stand out Triceraton character. Even the ones that aren't clones look super samey. And even worse there is NO distinction between the males and the females.

So who the fuck cares about them? I think the best character designs for the Triceratons came from the FIRST cartoon of TMNT where each one looked unique. The fact Female Captain Triceraton has a love affair with Male Commander Triceraton means nothing to me because I can't tell them apart if it wasn't for the female having a broken horn.

Triceratons suck in IDW because of the decisions made in how they look. Shit man, Mutanimals are fun because of how distinct each of them looks. Even the turtles themselves despite having a history of looking clone like were able to stay distinct physically in IDW under most artists, but the Triceratons? Not a chance.

Shredder's death scene is one of the best in the series, and what it's done to Splinter has been absolutely fantastic to read. Even when I thought the new villains were dull (they keep hyping Null and I keep not caring about her), seeing Splinter regress back to his ruthless professional ninja ways through a series of small allowances has been extremely gripping.

I wonder if legal shit is preventing them from using him. Do you recall the issues he was in? I'll check my IDW Collection hardcovers sometime to see if his name still pops up. Maybe they edited it out.

Feelings on using Ch'rell as Shredder for a big reveal at the tail end of the inevitable Return of Shredder arc?

tell that to the people who were slaves to the company store.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Company_town

Best Shredder.

Also
>All the Turtles struggle to fight Shredder, each gets knocked back
>Leo goes all out, still gets knocked back
>Quick shot of Shredder's arm being cut, and Saki clearly realizes he might lose

I came when I first saw that. Based fucking Leo.

I agree, it’s a perfect blend between campy and goofy and dark and gritty.

It’s the ideal tone for a franchise like this.

I know it's probably chiefly because the puppetry and effects aren't there even now, but god I love seeing a true master ace a guy by hardly moving. Splinter KOing him by hardly doing anything is great.

And Casey's OOOPS. Ah man that's the stuff.

The better question, why the fuck was Donnie obsessed with food in this film?

The way it mixed the pseudo Frank Miller thing and the turtles being dumb kids was fantastic.

Anyone else dislike Shredder as the turtle's nemesis? He always feels like he's either Splinter or Hamato Yoshi's enemy. The turtles are just minions sent to deal with someone else's problem in this scenario.

To me the best nemesis of the turtles is Hob from IDW. The turtles defend mostly humans from all sorts of dangers and befriend humans like Casey and April. But Hob believes humans need to be made extinct and his only human "friend" Hob kidnapped her and is blackmailing her into working for him.

I don't recall that, but probably because aside from fixing a car, they didn't feel like leaning into his tech skills had too much of a place in the more serious minded and grounded film. Nobody was showing off sci-fi tech for him to figure out.

If you have to try to convince us everything's going to be OK, you've already fucked up.

Sam Riegel (2003 Donatello) and Mike Sinterniklaas (2003 Leonardo) now are. Both having relocated to LA almost a full decade ago now.

Though Greg Abbey and Wayne Grayson are still non-union NY VAs.

>Chadatello

I like him as the big bad two rungs above them at nearly all times. I like that as kids their stuck in their fathers war. He's great as a big threat and something to grow through before they advance to something else. He's not their endboss though. Because TMNT isn't REALLY a superhero comic, it's a bit more about the turtles growing up, there is no endboss. There's just the next thing life throws at you.

If they have any endboss, it's the moment Splinter dies of old age. The moment in a persons life that the last vestige of childhood goes away.

It's not legal shit, they've just had other things going on and he's not a priority. IDW does have a tendency to let plot lines linger for a while, Krang was waiting trial for quite some time.

>His shell is a removable piece of tech and it has an A.I
GAY

I wasn't sure. Some people have the idea that legal shit is preventing the 2003 series from seeing DVD release.

Hob stopped being a real nemesis a long time ago though, and that's when he became so interesting.

>The turtles are just minions sent to deal with someone else's problem in this scenario.

The blood feud between the Foot and the Hamato is a super-underexplored element of TMNT overall, but it was a big part of the original comics.

Oroku Nagi attacks Tang Shen, Hamato Yoshi's wife.
Hamato Yoshi kills Oroku Nagi.
Oroku Saki, Nagi's brother, grows up, trains, and kills Hamato Yoshi and Tang Shen.
Splinter, Yoshi's pet rat, trains his adopted sons, they grow up to kill Oroku Saki.
The Foot declare war against the turtles for what they've done and are a perpetual thorn in the turtles' side.
It isn't until they strike a deal with Karai and help quell the in-fighting between Foot factions that the turtles are freed from the cycle of violence.

It's a super fascinating story. By the time the turtles challenge and kill the Shredder, all the original participants in the inciting action are dead. It's violence begetting violence. The turtles inherent an old grudge. That kind of moral ambiguity is what made the original Mirage comics so compelling.

That sort of rumor always pops up when a franchise has multiple versions with different companies involved. It's almost never true.

Hob's story is really if he'll let go of his hate and just let himself be friends with people or if he'll always feel the need to strike out at somebody in anger.

Gotta admit, it's weird that Shout Factory hasn't done anything with the show. They get to everything. Also where's my Extreme Ghostbusters?

Man it's so easy to forget Nagi. I think every single version of the story since the original got rid of him.

I wonder if IDW can do something fun with him?

Wait, seriously? His shell is going to be his sassy robot sidekick?
Kill me

>90s
>Evolution
>Shit
God this post is rancid

From what I've heard, Donnie is a "soft shell" turtle with interchangeable tech shells.

Evolution might be the most atmospherically on point version of X-Men yet.

>Leaving out 03
>Leaving in NM
Oh fuck off.

These fuckers need to be stopped.

That's not damage control, people have really jumped the gun on this show even though they haven't seen a single clip of it in action, they're basically just telling people to stop bitching and be patient

What always surprises me is that there is still a fanbase for TMNT. It always strikes me as something that's super niche since the only real exposure people had to it were those who watched the original cartoons and the even smaller group of people who follow the comics. Is it still popular with kids?

I'd call Raph being the leader with tonfas and Leo being.....whatever the hell now, more offensive

Well since going in they've said they've totally change at lest two of the turtles personalities, it's going to make people wonder what the fuck they're doing.

They're trying hard to bring people in when those people don't want to see it. It's damage control.

There's been multiple cartoons and films since. It's got near constant media exposure, so kids have pretty much always liked it.

Nostalgic fans who have shaky childhood memories of the old cartoon are the ones who are loud and accept any dumb shit that happens. Comic fans are left with.... well actually IDW so we're doing alright now.

but turtles’ shells are attached to their spine. They’re not like hermit crabs.
And taking off his shell in the show would be weird and uncomfortable

Just please for the love of god don't drag Usagi into this

>Evolution
>Bad

Both 4kids and Nickelodeon brought a wave of newer fans.

The majority of Vol 1 is non-canon weird shit that is unrelated from issue to issue. Sometimes a story just starts with no lead-in as to why they are all pirates or 1930s gangsters or whatever.
It coincides with the Archie book not being adaptations of cartoon episodes and more or less becoming the "real" TMNT canon for a while

Alot of the bitching is from people that like the comics which are still now pretty decent with the IDW series and whatnot.
Some ppl grew up with the cartoons and like toy collecting...
And then theres the ppl that just kinda like TMNT in general and don't like seeing something this shitty done with the property... kinda like Transformer fans and the Micheal Bay movies. (AND the reboot TMNT movies)

Evolution was surprisingly pretty good for an alternate take.So I love both cartoons
Madhouse anime wasn't all that bad either. Though the Wolverine specific one was no good.

No worries, user. Usagi's getting his own series. Completely separate from TMNT.

bleedingcool.com/2018/02/06/usagi-yojimbo-stan-sakai-kids-tv-cartoon/

Since Usagi's not being adapted by Nick, I doubt they can use him on Rise of the TMNT even if they wanted to. The Robin Rabbit is safe from this bullshitery.

Now we just have to hope his series is good...

I liked the most recent version of TMNT show.
But that's mainly because Mae Whitman's voice does weird things to my penis.

Its not damage control, when people keep bitching about a show before they have even seen it, the company has every right to say hey just calm down a bit. This is TMNT 2012 all over again, people were bitching about the designs, april being a teenager, donnie having a crush on april etc... but once they actually sat down and watched it they realized that the show was actually good, why is it so hard to be patient instead of complaining about something 24/7

It comes with the territory. It happened to Sonic Boom too. Until we get actual content the preview content will be under fire.
But I gotta say... 2012 took some getting used to but these turtles are pretty damn ugly

youtube.com/watch?v=5EDImjMFjTs

So the Playmates rep at Toy Fair is making it sound like the new weapons, as well as Raph being the "self proclaimed" leader, are going to be temporary changes. Not sure why they're doing it like that but it sounds like the status quo will be restored sooner rather than later.

I mean it’s not a new thing for the other three to protest Leo as leader.
Also the perspective of the promo pic might be throwing me off, the designs look much more decent as toys

Were you here when the first promo image of Transformers Animated dropped?
Batman Brave and the Bold also.

Once the shows came out most people liked it well enough but the first impressions of the promo were overwhelmingly negative, and rightly so.
I feel Brave and the Bold is the best Batman show ever but that first look of it was NOT encouraging.

Is it wrong to enjoy both shows?

Exactly. IDW takes their time with this shit. They introduced human Bebop and Rocksteady in the first wave of one-shots right about when #12 was about to introduce the IDW Shredder.

Then we didn't see them as mutants till near the end of City at War which was another twelve issues later.

Nagi has a homage version in '03. That's about it.

He's a soft shell turtle, so he makes tech shells that are "hard" to protect his back.

Actually I.. take that back.
I think I prefer no-pupil designs overall even if they make no sense

Hit me with your best shot.

Respectfully disagree.

I submit into evidence, the fact that the first TMNT movie is still objectively the best.

>Wanting to taint 80s perfection with these two shitty incarnations
Not even 2003 April? What horrible taste

Fine; have this, Mr. Bossy.

There’s no reason for April to be a teenager other than turning underage bestiality into regular bestiality

Not him, but 2003 April's hair just never sat well with me. The color was too unnatural. Like, I'd understand if she was a goth girl in that incarnation, but she was "ordinary" so it just didn't feel right.

Kind of like due process.

Didn't the animation one arrange for animators to be paid extra if a show went to season 3? Seems like a sure way to get shows canceled.

But them hips user

That's worse, you pedo! Why don't you try that Fusion thread you started to spam requests?

My god these toys look like shit

And it's tragic how ultimately every iteration of the TV shows was plagued by some fundamental flaw. '87 was tainted by being too silly toy and humor centric, 2003 had way too much Utrom and government bullshit and while 2012 gave us the best version of Splinter and balanced Ninja stuff (if we forget the dreadful forest episodes) and outer space stuff quite well it was plagued by somebody's mutation fetish. The mutagen shit really dominated the show way too much, fucking everybody got mutated.

This is top shelf passive aggression
Well done user

Yeah, I’m not much of a toy guy but I have the first 2012 figures and they look much better. The new ones, ugly designs aside, look like cheap McDonald’s toys

Ehh, I figured this thread would be more appropriate. Plus, I got direct feedback!

How old even is 2003 April, anyways?

You're welcome!

>We're being respectful of the franchise

HAHA, sure BOI, SURE!

That shit looks more 90s than anything the 90s produced

Now I just need Stan to finally make a con appearance here. I just got a gallery edition book for my birthday and I'm dying to get it signed.

>Its not damage control, when people keep bitching about a show before they have even seen it, the company has every right to say hey just calm down a bit
That's literally damage control
>shit upsets people (damage)
>company tries to calm people down (control)
There was damage, they want to control it

Looks more 2000s to me. Like when they tried to make Looney Tunes edgy and extreme

Here's your fusion
>80s
>2003
>TMNT 2007 ninja April

>that awkwardly drawn "M"
Please don't tell me it's a licensed toy

1000000 times better.

she was to pure and feminine for this century...

F

Thank fuck someone else realizes this. In retrospect volume 4 just feels weird even if it's the official continuation of Mirage. I'm wondering Mirage canon ought be restricted to the Laird-Eastman-made stuff of volumes 1 and 2 of TMNT and volume 1 of Tales.

Close, but not quite
>80's April
>2003 April
>IDW April

Alright, yeah, I take it back. This is the right combination

THIS

I don't think Eastman or Laird had much of anything to do with TMNT v2. Laird said something about him and Eastman overseeing it in the foreword of the first issue but I'm pretty sure it was entirely Lawson's baby. Which is just as well. It wasn't very good and it ultimately went nowhere.

But yeah, I agree with you 100% that if it doesn't have Eastman and Laird's names on it I personally consider it apocryphal.

That's in a way even better in my eyes, since vol.2 is not something I really prefer, but stuck with since it was both Mirage and a direct continuation of vol.1 without the hiatus vol.4 had. All actually genuine respect to Lawson for being a workhorse, but vol.2 did get too weird in and of itself, even with the benefit of Lawson's closeness to Eastman and Laird and TRYING to keep to that spirit vol.1 did have, if that makes sense.

Does Mirage consider only the Eastman/Laird vol.1 and Tales canon? I swear I've read both E/L consider "The River" canon and that's that from the guest worker issues. Thankfully the E/L vol.1/Tales stuff alone is a fantastic arc for the Turtles....

Man you TMNT 2003 losers needs to GET A LIFE. This new cartoon is going to be littie, and you ain't ever going to stop it's popularity.

I met him last summer. Nice quiet guy. He always seemed a tad flustered at praise. 10/10 would buy a print again.

I read volume 2 thanks to the IDW trades, and I swear the whole thing felt like a fever dream. It was so surreal with nothing every going anywhere or getting explained but it all kind of came together. I liked it as one big chunk, but monthly it had to be a confounding mess.

N-no, it’s gonna be shit. Everyone will ask for tmnt 2003 to comeback, just you wait.

Those toys look way better than the models used in the show. The faces and feet especially are better, I also like that they have more muscles, the 2012 turtles always seemed a bit scrawny, all of them, not just Don.

Stan Sakai is one of the classiest people in comics. A true master. I hope he gets rich as hell off this cartoon.

Oh, IDW printed it? I guess volume 2 IS Mirage canon after all instead of being left out like the guest issues of volume 1?

I'd accept it but we need a do-over from volume 2 on with both Eastman and Laird at the least coming together for an ending to the Mirage TMNT, even if it's appropriately bittersweet they all split up in the future.

Santolouco needs to go back to this and lay off the Campbell influence.

They apparently both have an idea for the finale, they just will never get there. Even Laird seems to not be bothering with volume 4 anymore, which is frankly shitty of him.

I think you're right that The River was initially considered canon, but it became hazy after Rick Veitch ragequit Mirage and took his material with him.

And yeah, I honestly think City at War was the perfect ending for the Mirage TMNT. Everything wrapped up nicely.

I'm still miffed and cheesed that the Leatherhead and Rat King issues of Tales weren't in the Ultimate Collection. At least those! If they were they would be the ultimate collection of the original era.

did the reference that crappy Saban show or am I blind?

Man people really don't like Derrick J. Wyatt's style huh? Transformers Animated and Ben 10 Omniverse got the same initial "It's shit" reaction

Huh I actually find that kinda neat. If it's at all accurate and not just shitposting

Don't get me started. I was so sure they were going to release Tales of the TMNT v1 as volume 7 of the Ultimate Collection. I'm still pissed they never did.

It is shitty of Eastman, but it's really depressing the True Finale, so to speak, will never happen. Bluh.

I never knew that, either. Too bad. It's obviously the one guest tale that fits the atmosphere perfectly.

They weren't? Ugh. I have the old individual issues and a lot of the weird solo stories/anthology issues deep in storage somewhere, back when I wanted every issue and story that was Mirage-involved for easy access and figure out the canon. I'll give Mirage credit, they kept the ages of the TMNT and continuity amazingly consistent no matter how balls-to-the-wall insane the stories themselves were.

IDW has a spectacular ability to nearly release perfect collections then shoot themselves in the face.

Oh well. The IDW Collection series for their take on the TMNT seems to be spot on so far. the GI Joe and Transformers lines had goof ups along the way.

Stop lying to yourself mate

The Ultimate Collection is just the Eastman/Laird issues of the main series. I dunno why they left out the Eastman/Laird tales stuff for a two volume thing, but its there.

The IDW collections tend to color the black and white issues too. Not for the Ultimate Collection. I forget if they did for the original Tales. Like... I 100% forget. I kind of think they did.

The coloring isn't really bad I guess, it just feels fundamentally wrong. It's obviously digital.

WHAT'S THAT SPELL?!

Honestly, I'd just like to see 2018 April dressed up and hair done in the styles of the other Aprils to see how it works out.

I wouldn't even be mad at this especially because one of the guys, I forgot which one, actually wanted April to be black originally. It's the grrrl power bullshit and the problem glasses that make her shit.

April w named after Eastman's half-black ex-wife.

They briefly toyed with making her Asian before just saying fuck it and making her white like God intended.

You people are genuinely pathetic. "OH NO THEY MADE THE TURTLES USELESS ASS FRIEND BLACK WITH GLASSES MY WORLD IS CRUSHED."

Look at the rest of the changes, they matter waaaaayyy more. Which is still a minuscule amount.

Oh look, another snubbed show that's part of of a larger franchise.

Holy shit, you, yes you personally, are unironically literally, genuinely illiterate. I just said in my post that your dumb ass quoted that I wouldn't have a problem with black april as long as she'd be the cutest monkey in jungle.

Also, the post that I was replying to showed a re-designed April. I've already bitched and moaned about the horrible redesigns of the turtles and especially Splinter in lots of previous threads.

Furthermore, I was not complaining about glasses in general, I was specifically complaining about the tumblr style, SJW problem glasses they gave her.

Stop masterbating to underage cartoons user

Salami lives in California. He grew up in Hawaii, which loosely inspired Usagi.

Yea his first time at the post. Dude really deserves the shot. Its one of the bright spots that at least they won't sound muted and bland (one of the failings of 2k3 the non union VAs)

Which while I know his VA is top notch it does mean that Splinter in this one will be written as he looks. Old and doofy.

both are garbage
or the one with glasses is better

this franchise isnt a retarded sjw sitcom.

That might actually explain why so many shows on Fox get shitcanned so quickly.

...

I'm not sure why you bothered, but damn man nice work.

>mixed Aprils

>Raph is the leader
What the fuck?

man, what kind of tool replaces the raddest martial art weapons: nunchakus, with a boring ass generic flail?
OH I GUESS IT'S CREATIVE AND NEW SO I SHOULD LIKE IT INSTANTLY
The only weapons that look cool in there are the Tonfas because they don't look like fucking glow-in-the-dark dildos.

>did not fuck the turtles
fuck that movie

>Rise/2012 April

You're going to finish this, right?

they were the best thing in the second movie

I grew up with the original and I think 2003 is the best Turtle series

>Raph is the leader
>Leo is a "trickster"
>Changing weapons

what?? no... this cant be true. I refuse

"turtle wax" the jokes always make me laugh

never liked splinter was a rat then get mutated, didnt makes sense

...

and all of the turtles are different species of turtles

>Soft shell turtle.

If they going to the used concept from turtles. DO IT CORRECTLY!

MUH DICK

But why? I mean, I always liked it when they were slightly different shades of green. It made each more distinctive and unique on screen.
but who really wanted a science lesson in turtle taxonomy out of TMNT?

Because April being black is not diverse enough

So are the turtles like perpetually "teenage"

do we ever get the twentysomething mutant ninja turtles

or the mid-life ninja turtles

or the geriatric ninja turtles

do they suffer the same fate as Bart and Maggie and Lisa?

If so then when can we except a simpsons tmnt crossover

>or the mid-life ninja turtles

Believe it or not, yes.

> :O

I needn't soy more

Dude, are you not familiar with Sewer Surfn' Mikey?
That color scheme is very '89-early 90s. Random shapes with day-glow colors slapped all over the place was very much of the era

Mirage has had them all over the place. Volume 3 had them in their 20s and vol 4 they were mid 30s if not older.

everything about this is just gay and wrong.

why in the ever-loving fuck would they fuck with their weapons too???
I could give some leniency with leo carrying one sword samuri-style after having lost his other one as a story element or something but...fuck this so hard.

They weren't in the second movie. That was Toka and Razar.

raph's gorilla character design makes me want to break a window.

He’s talking about the shrek turtle movies

It's amazing how much better both of the black April fusions are than the actual in-show design. Though the 2003/2018 fusion has a peculiar dash of Janine Melnitz.

Evolution is by far and away the worst x men cartoon.
They do villains real well.
Shut it elf lips!

For anyone curious, here's the interview in the OP

youtube.com/watch?v=uy2RRoCOLp8

Guys maybe it’s a prequel that would explain the weapon and leader change

Of course they can’t call it preteen ninja turtles but it seems like that’s what they are teying to do

That cosplay needs more rope.

who is she?

Original comics remind me a lot of 2000AD comics in a good way.

>They include both Schumacher films.
>No reference to the second Batman film.
>0 references of Adam West.

...

Adam is there 2nd across 4th down

>people really ignore black April
WTF?

Oh shit you're right.

It's not as important as two main character being switched, you fucking moron

>Evolution is by far and away the worst x men cartoon.
In the trash your opinion goes.

Bottom April is CUTE

I think the idea of them all being different types of turtles isn't that bad, to be honest. It could lend itself to some interesting designs and characteristics. Key word COULD.

she looks easily obnxious

Too bad she’s black though

obnoxiously fuckable

Yeah, but at the cost of them being blood related, which sucks.

April was already black, she was Irish remember Cred Forums?

>waifufag
makes sense

You mean cliches? Yea.

people overreact everytime but DJW puts a lot of effort into the shows he worked on, sure not every design was a winner but when he got into a new property, he immersed himself into it, like the lore and mythology of the franchise and pulls in all aspects and still finds fresh new ideas too.

>Implying April isn't a main character by now

Changing weapons isn't that big a deal considering the franchise undergoes numerous reimaginations every so often.

Trickster Leo could be interrupted as battle savvy Leo who ensures his enemy falls into his keiku. But it'll probably be done stupid.

Everything else is shit.

Did you cry about black baxter stockman?Nobody gives a fuck. Her color was never important to anything she did throughout all of tmnt.

Not him, but
>Did you cry about black baxter stockman?
He was black to begin with

>Her color was never important to anything she did throughout all of tmnt.
There's literally no reason to change it, then. Except the entertainment industry's hateboner for gingers because they don't have souls.

i think the biggest issue is that they're making a black april in current times and it easily comes off as pandering, not to mention how ugly she is in general. if a black april popped up every so often it might not be as bad but her biggest roles were white and it feels more like a correcting the record move

Changing their weapons is like changing their headband colours both of which play a big part in identifying which turtle is which. Also let’s be honest sais>tonfas 2swords>1sword nunchucks>whatever the fuck money has now and wooden bo staff>>>>>>>>>>>>>>metal dildo

Every incarnation TMNT changes stuff in one way or the other.

Unions are fucking great because collective bargaining power means workers get treated fairly. The problem is it’s filled with perverse incentives, like the free rider problem, and unions themselves can be pretty corrupt. The VA union in particular gets a lot of unnecessary heat because they don’t give two shits if someone gets replaced.

They have been deaging April for years and making her less and less curvy.

there's no real reason to bitch about it either

You're proving my point. (most) of these characters being one color or another doesn't mean shit. A good chunk of anons are citing 80s teen as one of the best/fun/kino toons, yet how many are claming white baxtor ruined it for them? Same with black april. You're reading too much into a toon that isn't even aimed at people who regularly consume news/politics.

I'd be more worried if they started making black shreder or black splinter as their race is important to them. Shit I'd even argue to some extent Casey as well.

The comics had them all one band color. Why is one change good and another bad? The weapon choices may suck but TMNT isn't like Sonic, Mega Man, etc where you're lucky to get one comic/cartoon a decade. You got a faithful book, decent to good toons every so often to always draw from.

Do agree though that classic weapons are best and these look like shit. But the idea of one continuity changing it to (good) weapons wouldn't be a big deal.

might as well not call her fucking april then
call her SHAQUANPRIL like her ancient ancestors from Beta-tisha 12 will be calling her in season 3 when she finds out she isn't black, SHES FROM SPACE!

April has been black before, that isn't the issue. The turtles having their characters completely changed is.

>We're being respectful of the franchise
If you assholes have to say that.
Then it really makes me wonder

Baxter Stockman was originally black.

ha

thanks for the drawing idea user
ill post something later

>sonic has blue arms

>:(

The only reason he wasn't in the 80's cartoon was that they thought it'd be racist if he was a black villain.

So what I'm getting at is Laird is the virgin while Eastman is the chad?

>MOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
>THE BIG MEAN CREATIVES AREN'T RESPECTING THE SOULLESS CORPORATE PROPERTY THAT WAS PUSHED ON ME AS A CHILD TO SELL TOYS

>the entertainment industry's hateboner for gingers because they don't have souls.
That tired, projected meme is also part of the entertainment industry's century-long hateboner for gingers.

...

>MOOOOOOOOOOOOM
>THEY'RE RUINING IT MOM
>THEY'RE RUINING MY CHILDHOOD
>THEY'LL NEVER MAKE A SHOW BETTER THAN THIS 15 MINUTE LONG COMMERCIAL

How long until they add Venus De Milo to the main cast?

The 80's cartoon is not the original turtles

Yeah, because the cartoons are all based on fucking Eastman and Laird, right? They're dark parodies aimed at adults and not toy commercials?

Go fuck yourself.

JB Smoove was a top tier Bebop

Turtles sounding black is okay as long as they sound NY black.
IIRC the other two VAs are Jews, which is also very NY.

Bebop and Rocksteady are great

I just said that 80's are not original turtles. Why are you shitting youself?

>or black splinter as their race is important to them
Splinter is a fucking rat

>Why is one change good and another bad?
That depends on the change. The color-coded bands helped distinguish them. The movie had changes mixing two versions, but it was pretty damn well balanced.

>in season 3 when she finds out she isn't black, SHES FROM SPACE!
Sounds awful because I definitely see this happening, but to be fair in the original comics there was something even more off about her, if I recall.

Hasn't though

Changing a ginger into a black is definitely adding more soul, man.

...

Exterminate the jews.

>Raph is the leader
Was the MC Hammer song the only piece of turtle media this people saw before making the show?
youtube.com/watch?v=1zTJnjc-Xhg

...

In volume 4 it's revealed that April was a baby drawn with Kirby's magic stone (from the Donatello one shot), but drawn in ink instead of pencil so she was permanent. The baby was adopted by a normal family and then grew up into April. Ideally, it means nothing. She's still human, but has a mystic origin, and I don't think the plot point was ever finished. I remember it's revealed when she gets sick and the Utroms scan her and find out she isn't normal.

Going from 2012 Splinter to that is fucking painful

>omg how DARE you dislike what those poor corporation shit in your face you must stay loyal at all cost or else you are a comunist! *sucksucksuck*

>O yes Mr goldberg look at me defending your companie I deserve all your love now please

>April's a nigger

...

...

All the fanart in these look like they were drawn by tumblr users

I hate this wheel because 2/3 of it is trash. Adult April is best

2012 april never doesn't look like a smug bitch

Shut the fuck up about black april, I fucking hate the Irish and every time a ginger character is replaced is a victory for me. Hopefully this change is permanent and her baseball career lasts longer than another O'Neal

It's common for most of the Cred Forums posters you see now are under 21 and only started posting the last years.

Christ I don't believe that they were even around for mortal folly/recoil.

But again, I can't get all the Sari worship out of my head now.

sadly I think never, they hate her

It would be like Knuckles being the leader, and Robotnik's now a wacky teenager.

I'm really wondering if IDW can pull some wizardry and do something interesting with her.

Does the Usagi Special matter to the IDW Turtles?

Did shredder get deaged? Don't see how he could get worst than 80s.

2003 was good when they stuck to New York. Everything up to the Utrom exodus, and the filler stories before they went into space and shit, that was fine. That was great. Loved it.

When they went off the rails with the time travel shit, ancient demon Shredder, and that entire Chinese mystics season, it went downhill pretty fast. Hated most of the future shit except for the occasional standalone episode like the Stockman one.

The Nexus arc was the furthest into the magic side that I thought it could go without being too ridiculous. We also got Usagi from that so I wasn't complaining. But then they're in space, they're in the future, then they're in cyberspace in a shitty Rockman.EXE ripoff. I just gave up on the show at that point.

Most people who watched 2003 only saw the first couple seasons or the last couple and have polarising opinions about it.

>2K3 was closely supervised by Laird and his influence can be seen very clearly.
That explains so fucking much.

Each episode will be 11 minutes long

Donnie's looking a bit retarded there.

Is Leo a closeted homo now? Will he become the leader once he accepts himself for what he is and steps out of the closet. Give Michelangelo a Latin accent while your at it. Donatello needs to convert to Islam in the second season

Okay lay off the Infowars and Breitbart comments section you fucking loon.

What's with this "open-mouth for photos" shit? It's like an automaton trying to emulate enthusiasm.

I can't wait for Pandermaniacs.

I want a oneshot about a teleporter accident that leads to this.

>Is Leo a closeted homo now?
Are you implying he wasn't before?

I know that GI Joe Resolute is hated around here. But would fans partake into an entry like it? An ""adult"" leaning movie released in a webisode format?

Wait, people hate Resolute?

Damn, I didn't even like Beware that much and I feel bad for that snub.

>I fucking hate the Irish and every time a ginger character is replaced is a victory for me
As long as you're not a whiny faggot who's confused why whitey hates you right back for participating in demographic displacement based genocide and welcoming the propaganda like it's your fetish. Silly gross kike.

warrenellis.com/?p=6147
>"Sam Register phoned me up and said, we’d really like you to write a G.I. Joe animation, at a PG-13 rating, aimed at an older viewer. I said, I’ve never seen a G.I. Joe cartoon in my life. [...] I know nothing about G.I. Joe. It is meaningless in my world. 'Excellent', Sam said. Just the guy we need."
they base their hate on that Warren Ellis didn't do any research or read anything GI Joe related before doing the project

Small dopamine release caused by submissive physical action. It's been promoted culturally for most of your life to slowly make you more of a faggot. Compare your mental state when you clench your teeth and when you open your mouth wide. Every layer of your society is built to hurt you. This is not a meme.

I think it's clear he did some. I mean he took ideas from the comic and the cartoon. Granted, he took a bit more from the cartoon than I would like, but he basically nailed a tone I would love for future Joe projects.

It was a pretty good movie.

I would not be mad at Warren Ellis if he was charged to write a power rangers animated movie and didn't do research for that either. Or TMNT. If your entire personality is a hat, you don't need to be carefully researched.*

*Not that it's not usually still a good idea anyway.

Those a right up there with the sumo turtles as the most bizarre and bad turtle toys if all time.

>Sumo Turtles

Dear god...

>bottom april
>becomes a huge fangirl for the turtles
>constantly gets into trouble trying to get a front row seat to the action
Unironically would back this April design 100%

On a similar note, why is Cred Forums so defensive about this shitty April design?

...

>Donatello needs to convert to Islam in the second season

>>"We asked Nick if we could have jewish faith in April's character and while they said it was fine, we're not sure how to go about it because we can't directly mention it unless she mentions celebrating Hanukkah, but we felt it's too lacking to mention it in passing and decided it was all or nothing. Nick said nothing."
-Animation Podcast late 2017, via one of the creators

Can someone fucking stop them

what else do they want a jew character to be? Give her a shitty accent, a kippa and hand rubbing as an idle position?
I mean, muslims have to pray several time a day so it's visible. Jews will just ask for turkey bacon.

>We asked Nick if we could have jewish faith in April's character
>we're not sure how to go about it
If they had literally no plans or reason for it, why the fuck would they even bring it up? Please tell me this is fake.

Probably to say "I'm Jewish" directly according to "we can't directly mention it".

They weren't sure how to appease Nick but get it out there in their way at the same time.

Apparently the reason why Splinter is so fat is because he is actually lazy. He didn't teach the turtles any ninjitsu skills.
I'm not joking.
youtube.com/watch?v=kWh2_RFAPZo

They did that because Wolverine sells.

But The Turtles have always been a cohesive unit.
Leo doesn't sell.
Raph doesn't sell.
Turtles sell together.
Most little boys aren't content with just one turtle action figure, nobody wants to play a TMNT game where you don't have access to all four brothers, and nobody wants to watch a Donnie solo movie.

There is no reason to switch up the team dynamic. The only time Raph should be the leader is when Leo fucks off to have his "I need to train to be a better leader" retreats from the team.

How do you make turtles cliche, user? Either you don't know what that word means, or I just have no idea what you're talking about.

>SHAQUANPRIL
>Get it? Because she's black. :D
Are you 12? This isn't even a racism thing. I make jew jokes all the time, but come on user.

>pink hair
I hate it.

I mean basing their personalities on their shell type being cliche, like soft shell being insecure and a bit of a push over, and I'm worried that's pretty much going to happen since he has armored shells over his own to keep it safe.

G'job.

Maybe. Hopefully the type of turtle they are will be throwaway thing, but I will be genuinely upset if I hear Raph say something like "I'm a snapping turtle! What do you expect?!" I actually don't know what type he is, but it seems like the kind of thing they'd choose.

none of these really capture a fushion, much less in personality. they look like random art

There you go. I was placing it in v1 or something because of the Don story.

At least 80s Shredder was "80s cartoon villain" at its best.

I wonder if it's a matter of them trying to emulate Wolverine, or that Raph just has fans in the wrong places. One problem the CGI movie had was a bit too much of Raphael wank.

april o'neil

seriously, she's a pornstar named april o'neil

I couldn't find better ones

>At least the IDWverse took its time with them and turned all three into real threats.

That and they're pretty downplayed. I just counted, they're really only in 16 main issues out of almost 80 released and don't seem to come back into the picture anytime soon. Hell, it's been quite a while since saw them in the main series at all, almost 20 issues if I'm correct.

I think he is a snapping turtle.

made some april designs but dont have time to color them right now. i'll be back in a couple hours to do so tho

>porn star April
Good, good.

>We asked Nick if we could have jewish faith in April's character
The chutzpah of these fucking kikes. They hate redheads so openly but will deny it to your face and pretend you're a monster for noticing.

Good job, user. I kind of like center right April, but she's too much of a stick. I'm guessing your the same artist as pic related?

what's this from?
>leaving out objective best series
I'm fucking triggered.

>0.002 cents has been deposited into your account goy.
Keep up the good work dude.

More turtles means more toys so it’s always a possibility.

It was from Lincensing Europe expo. At that time it was the first look at ROTtmnt logo

>all the April OC in this thread

Keep it coming lads

Just

I like Chub April the best, but they're all very cute.

What OC?
This is the only thing that's been actually drawn for the thread. That fusion shit is taking images that already were done, and pasting them.

Give it to nu-Cred Forums to cream themselves over anything they perceive as free art.

#BestBatman

Wooooow.
Your try hard-on must be close to creaming with that fantasy.

Bottom April fusion is the best one and has the perfect idea about how to utilize her in a story. Shame it'll never get used

I'm not too big on the hair in the tri-fusion April (it's a personal thing) but I like how this turned out.

2012/2018 April is cute and deserves headpats, hugs and hot cocoa.

You think THAT'S Cred Forums? user, that's dumb.

Only two of them were, one was drawn for a previous TMNT thread, and the last one was drawn was back before this announcement.
None of those are new, user.

>one was drawn for a previous TMNT thread, and the last one was drawn was back before this announcement.
that doesn't mean it wasn't a tumblr user

yep, that's me

God your style

Bebop and Rocksteady in the current TMNT run were incredible, everything they touched just fucking broke, even the most carefully laid out plan, and every time it happens they go FUCK IT LETS JUST WRECK EVERYTHING. They are the Beavis & Butthead of the current TMNT run, plus they are as strong as the Juggernaut.

Then in one book they got a spectre that allowed them to time travel, and they almost destroyed everything.

Reminder that there's a dimension that exists, where the entire population of the entire universe is endless permutations of Bebop and Rocksteady.

I see your Master Shredder and raise with Omega Shreddermon.

The first two remind me of plumbers. Third one is cool, reminds me of a youtube/podcast reporter. You should try Karai next

100% agreed, that movie was PERFECT. And they got some scenes directly from the comic too, like where Raph and Casey meet. The sequel was pretty lame in comparison.

Turtles Forever makes up for a more entertaining TMNT movie, but the first TMNT live action is one of the best comic movies of all times.

dunno if i this is meant as a compliment or not...

sewer worker/plumber is the only thing i could imagine actually wearing a onesie like that, so yea. plus it could lead into her finding the turtles in the first place if she's connected to working in the sewers

Yeah that's what I assumed. Neat idea. It's hard to justify a jumpsuit these days. Really all you need is one article of clothing that's yellow.

>I saw it on twitter first.
lol It's all irrelevant, you slut.

Yeah but that one turned out to be really good
And it respected the characters. Hell, up until that point, even if TMNT wasn’t going to be good, we could still expect every turtle to act like they were themselves.
Now, this new series is going to exist

Why wouldn't they? It's shit.

That’s not real
Give me a sauce, it cannot be real

It isn't

Why does Cred Forums have such good character designers?

>>I saw it on
Doesn't change anything?

Give one example not in this thread because nothing in this thread is good, it's just god-tier in comparison to a steaming pile of shit.

...

The middle right one is my favourite.

>It's deathly afraid of anything that might be considered "goofy" and constantly tries to assert it's hardcore while still under almost entirely the same censor restraints as the shows it disdained and tried to separate from.
Do you have any examples of this beyond it's shitty adaptation of "City at War?"

It fit right in the gap between Mirage and Cowabunga Pizza Turtles. I loved it as a teen, but I'd have appreciated it more if I knew the franchise would start so far away from Mirage and have the source material be the CPT cartoon.

Wait, they made April related to Bebop? That's going to be an interesting dynamic.

is it a personal taste thing or something in my style that could be improved? definitely open to criticism

the black girls eyebrows are ugly as sin for example

No one site is better, mate. No matter how hard you wish it was.
Here a hint:
It's all shit.

...

No but each site has their own style that everyone knows it for.

offtopic but why arent movie posters this awesome looking anymore?

Wtf is that nigger wearing? It's like a tv exec dressed him.

Where's that abridged series based on the first movie?

well thats fine. was more trying to keep all base shapes within the last batch the same than going for an ideal look. rectangles for the first two, triangles for the third, and circles/curves for the last.

part of my philosophy when it comes to design is keeping a consistent shape throughout a character and being able to break down a lot of the design elements into them for easier construction. this goes especially for animation designs, where youd have to draw them a lot of times, so having a method to draw them quickly from those base shapes in a variety of poses is helpful

great but the black girls are ugly as fuck and i'm not racist, it just seems like everytime someone draws a black girl their style goes to shit

Movie posters used to be hand painted. I guess it's cheaper to have a guy shit something out in Photoshop these days.

>he wasn't in time for his dinner...
that's a damn shame, it was going to be an unforgettable luncheon

cant speak for everyone, but part of thats probably from being on tumblr. nonwhite characters shouldnt have the same features, but a lot of us just suck at doing it right. threat of potential outrage aside, its not like anyone on there gives us feedback on doing it right (or even CAN considering the quality of some "tumblr art")

im fine with it not being perfect tho as i prefer it more than being sameface shit. i'll likely only get better at it the more i experiment with it, so a bit of suckage is fine for the time being

What is it with artists and making black women have shitty haircuts, fat noses, fat eyebrows, passive aggressive expressions, etc?

Internalised racism and inability to draw non-white faces.

My niggas

He works because he's on another level. The best stories are when the Turtles show their growth by eventually catching up to Saki. He's not their equal or their rival, he's their superior, and worst of all he knows that. But because he's an amazing fighter but not honorable, he doesn't give a fuck, which makes him scary.

How would you redesign Master Splinter?

I'd have him as a poor farmer turned martial artist which lead him to the city in which he was turned into a dwarf mouse due to the ooze.

He knows about martial arts but he's mainly a farmer type of person with a massive garden and trains the turtles "Mr Miyagi style" by making them do chores as a part of training.

Sounds weird, but I love that for some reason more than him being Yoshi. I don't even know why, but I do.

While I agree its better than both of those, I disagree with Evolution being shit
Although 90s does get jerked fairly hard, I dont think its too bad

Retcon the ooze so that humans affected by it become more animal and the animals affected by it more human.

Roshi is a wise and honorable man who struggles to maintain his humanity and dignity as he... Splinters.

It's actually not MC Hammer in that Youtube vid. That's a one hit wonder rap group called Partners in Kryme.

I'd make a design/attitude inspired by Pai Mei. In fact, I think I might ask for that in the drawthread later. Thanks for the idea, user.

I wish Leo had gotten more focus in the movies. He's usually my favourite turtle.

I liked that they acknowledged that it was a converted mini-van.

So, as a fan of the ninja stuff in TMNT, are there any comics that do that exclusively?

I've been told to check out Daredevil, but it's pretty...dense.

Them being blood related makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. Honestly, in most versions we don't even have confirmation they ARE related by blood.

Where's his pig snout though?

What the shell

Believe it or not, GI Joe has a strong ninja through line. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow belong to a ninja clan named the Arashikage, and their bullshit influences a lot of what goes on.

The TMNT never have noses, no matter what type of turtle they're supposed to be. Really, their heads are more like a frog's.

Its such a shame they are wasting ben schwartz like this

If you draw them realisticially they are ugly and people say it's racist.

No one knows who that is because nobody on here is retarded enough to follow e-celebs

Not exactly what you're looking for, but if you like the eastern influence and grounded violence of the TMNT without the crazy sci-fi elements I'd highly suggest Usagi Yojimbo. It's a truly exceptional comic.

>mfw Mirage Hun
One of the few rags I just had to fucking buy after reading it online that year.

>It worked for Wolverine and the X-men
No it didn't, why do you think that shit got cancelled?

You and the current show runners don't know what a soft shell turtle is actually like do you

I will turn into a reverse king piccolo thing. hamato yoshi splashes Ooze on a splinter. And splinter will get his memories/ intelligence. hamato yoshi only used Splinter to get back at Shredder for killing his sons. After yoshi dies, Splinter created his own sons by using yoshi other pets like the turtles.

so i guess it was that guy that Regular Show was referencing in s8

It was fucking retarded, like they already had the baxter nanos to explain away why April was infertile but then they did that whole convoluted shit in order to make her emo and leave the cast.

I don't watch Regular Show, so I have no idea what you're talking about

>the reason why Splinter is so fat is because he is actually lazy. He didn't teach the turtles any ninjitsu skills.
Then why the fuck is he there

>being respectful by changing everything

Well that just seems like a intentional fuck you

>Creators cash out
>Franchise promptly ruined

Every time. It’s almost like the producers and moneymen resent creative people who make something unique and successful, and insist on arbitrary changes to quell their own insecurity at their utter, staggering lack of imagination.

The creators cashed out long ago. Arguably the best run of comics since their brief stints of actually doing their own comic has been happening for a few years now at IDW. With one of the creators acting as a creative consultant type.

>we're being respectful of the franchise

lol they're trying to convince themselves of something

TTGo is "h-heh, jokes on you, I was only PRETENDING to be retarded heh..." tier of management.

I was under the impression that Eastman didn’t fully sell the rights off until fairly recently...

Will they eat soy pizza in the show?

"They insulted muh glasses and agenda"
Get used to it, 'cause negative reactions to blatant retardation ain't gonna go the way of the Dodo

Yeah, and the IDWverse only started after that. He's been working with them from the start. He does alt covers, the occasional short, the annuals, and he seems to do some creative consulting, although how much we don't know.

I believe Laird and Eastman also have the rights to continue volume 4 as they see fit. Granted that's Laird's show and he doesn't seem to be bothering, but he technically could.

>a pornstar named april o'neil
hum...link please...for a friend...

It's funny you mention this but Sam Riegel is a voice director these days on Duck Tales while Michael Sinterniklaas runs/owns a voiceover studio with locations in New York and LA, so if they wanted to do a crossover, they could easily do it through Sinterniklass but I believe unions are still the main issue, specifically the LA one. (If memory serves me the reason the original VAs weren't in Turtles Forever was because the LA Union wanted a lot of money that 4kids the cheap bastards they were didn't want to pay at all.

They could at least make a product that will make lodsamone rather than this trash
I think that's all anyone wants

Evolution only got decent around the third season or something, unfortunately. It shat the hardest on Cyclops early on.

This. A lot of Cred Forums favorites are toy commercials, the thing is they didn't suck on purpose.

Are you nigger? Nigger isn't even a nigger thing. I make nigger niggers all the nigger, but nigger on nigger.

Are you the grill that draws squirrel girl? This looks exactly like that art. You got that tumblr feminist style of drawing. That said, I like the thin one with the long coat.

I have some advice for you.

1. Delete your tumblr
2. stop browsing tumblr
3. study classical figure drawing
4. ???
5. Profit
