When did I say STRICTLY anime? Like I said there is almost no use for learning Japanese at all unless you are planning on visiting Japan for an extended time or planning to live there. Or if you are with a business who will need your skills in Japanese. But learning for the sole purpose of watching anime without any English subs makes no sense and is a waste of time.

I never implied that. Regardless it takes time to learn Japanese just like any other language. Most people learning Japanese understand that picking the right anime to learn Japanese is important. For obvious reasons, one wouldn't pick Tatami Galaxy. Due to the overwhelming vocabulary, one wouldn't pick Fate/Stay Night. For obvious reasons, one would pick Kiniro Mosaic, Yuru Yuri, K-On! and so on. They speak slowly and discuss everyday things. Clearly something great for listening practice.
