Best Girl thread.

The only anime girl I know of to meet a former President of the United States.

I, like many of you, suffer from problems. My problems don't involve any of your implausible ones, but mine are worth voicing to you in hope of getting some advice. Anyways, I began to watch Azumanga Daioh about a month ago, and as I dove deeper and deeper into the series, the more and more I fapped to hentai of it. I continued to do so until the last episode. Then I watched the series again...and again... and again... I found myself checking out Osaka every on-screen moment she had. I began to stop going to my regular sites just to look at hentai of one person: Osaka. I eventually had 1000s of pictures and some doujins of Osaka. I began to spend what others called absurd amounts of money on merchandise, and my apartment is coated with Osaka everywhere. I've shut myself off from family and friends and felt an urge to just snuggle with my Osaka dolls. Osaka is all I need. She probably wouldn't like the way my family is or how my friends behave. I'm in love with Osaka. I keep praying that she'll come to see me one day and decide to live with me. I have nothing left to live for but Osaka. I know she can hear me, so I always talk to her telling her to come and visit me so our union can take place. So this is where you guys come into the picture. You're an all-purpose advice board. You definitely must know a way to help Osaka break free from behind her glass prison. Please help! She's my perfect girl, and she's longing for me as much as I long for her.

I can't tell if this copy pasta is really fucking old or just typed. With the fact that you just framed Cred Forums as an advice board I'm willing to bet really fucking old.

Which flavor of Ayumu is your favorite?

it was originally posted on Cred Forums

Why is Osaka the lewdest-minded Azu?

That makes sense. Cred Forums pretty much is a porn/advice board.

>you will never marry Ayumu and cuddle under a kotasu together

I can't go on living

Protip user: She only says Bill Clinton in the dub. The joke is that Former Prime Minister Mori was a disliked/corrupt politician so the dubbers changed it to Bill Clinton because muh localization. This is LITERALLY the most liberal translation you can get. Why are you watching the dub, user?

>Why are you watching the dub, user?
It's been a very long time since I've seen the show. Before I was into subs over dubs.

You should watch it in Japanese if you never did before. Osaka's voice is a miracle.

I always really liked how she was drawn at the very beginning of the manga.

It's been long enough and if the jokes change then maybe you're right. I'll get on it this weekend.

You missed quite a bit of Engrish.

I like the earlier style too. I didn't enjoy seeing so much changed in the 10th anni. manga. The Yotsuba style is nice, and suits that series, but I like the old Azu the most.

Chiyo's voice while she's eating always gets me

Pic related is pretty good if you haven't listened to it.

Best girl, it's kind of funny that in the beginning of the series you think the she will be more of a straight man/common man with the way she acts in the first episode but she just ends up weirder and more retarded than most of the cast, it's amazing.

Looks like they saw the future and the joke still applies.

Osaka is definitely hilarious.
I still find Sakaki to be mai waifu.

>"Give me the head first, please."

Goddamnit, my mind is too dirty for the pureness of Azu.

How can you say that when you aren't even reading her words?
あずまんが大王 is probably one of the few manga series that simply does not translate without completely butchering what makes the characters interesting. I will never get how Cred Forums is content to rip on English dubs for anime yet see nothing wrong with reading translated manga, which is the same thing: you aren't reading what the mangaka wrote, you're reading what someone else wrote, often by amateurs who shouldn't be interpreting creative works in the first place.

Naturally, plenty gets lost in translations and unless you do understand the culture you probably won't get many references that almsot any medium uses, at least to a certain degree, so in a sense consuming translated media while feeling smug about your superiority is ridiculous, though that doesn't automatically mean that saying subs>dubs is a vacuus argument.

A decade later and not many things from anime still gets as big a smile as many of the jokes and memes from Azu.

Fuck, my chinese songs got removed of my computer after my hard drive an heroed itself, and I forgot to include this one, thanks for the reminder user. It is indeed a good song, also it fits Osaka pretty well duh

What's wrong with this child?

Not really related, but I updated MPC and suddenly screenshots don't have subs and aren't full-res. Is there some option I'm missing or do I have to go back to that old-ass KCP build?

While I agree that it's harder than average to try to convey the contents of Azumanga, I really don't think it's quite that impossible. Stuff like SZS is more challenging.

I could actually feel my soul get warmer while I watched that again.

It's been a while since I felt that happy.

Sata andagi

I agree. Nice double dubs by the way.

I dont like to think of it as in the art style changing or anything. I just like to think she grew up

>Page 9
Not on my watch.

You're a nice lad

Thanks mate. You too.
I just got an urge to watch the victory parade where Tomo in the mascot suit with Chiyo and Osaka march in the sunset. There was a video on youtube that got taken down. I wish I could make a webm of it.

i agree with these post
But would also like to add that it doesn't really matter. Azumanga is actually quite funny even translated. I actually couldn't make it all the way through the anime because the 4koma is so much more enjoyable. Localization has always been a part of translating. Its no reason to dislike a character.

Oh hell yeah.

get out

>being aware this is the dub
Out you go too.

Official thread theme:

I've never actually seen the dub I only know that it wasn't in the sub because I've seen the series in japanese so many times.

Real official thread theme:

This time OP is not a faggot.
Osaka > all other anime girl.
I was kidding, OP is always a faggot.

Osaka best girl

I know second to the left should be the obvious choice, but I really really want to fuck the third to the right
>dat smug smile

I wanna eat sata andagi with Osaka, mouth to mouth.

That's a cute doujin, too cute to fap to even.

That was a adorable doujin.

It's always the ones you least expect.

Seriously though, I always liked that Osaka was, contrary to expectations, not totally naive about sex

Azu challenging
SZS more challenging

Kaorin slept with Sensei for better marks

fuck off

Good morning.

Don't know if you'll be back, but here:

I went to sleep before this was posted but I had the weirdest dream last night.

I always associated her with farts

5 > 6 > 4 > 8 > 7 > 1 > 3 > 2

The dub was fine. Azumanga Daioh's comedy is all about delivery, don't pretend for a second that reading jokes as text is the same thing as hearing them spoken by the characters in a language you understand.

They translated it correctly, and turned a shitty joke about a dude nobody outside of Japan really understands the culture behind into a joke perfect for the audience of "people watching anime in English". Are you seriously attempting to imply it would have been better if they left a shitty joke the audience would never understand in the series?

The ONE joke in Azumanga Daioh you can complain about with dubbing is the double entendre penis pun, and even that is a single joke that can't really get translated outside of TL notes.

Yeah, the dub was hilarious, anyone that says otherwise is a subfag that just can't understand that there's no point in making a perfect translation of an adaptation because that would just make it shitty. Jokes don't work in multiple languages every time, especially not puns like AD uses. If they dubbed it by just reading the subs out loud, it would be shit just like watching the subs without actually understanding Japanese culture.

The dub took a shitty joke that made no sense to English viewers and turned it into a shitty joke that made perfect sense to English viewers. That's the correct course of action, there's no point in translating something if you half ass it and don't bother making it something that the target audience can understand.

Don't pretend for a second the dub would be better if they kept the FPM Mori joke, because all that would do is confuse English viewers and make a funny scene confusing instead of funny. If you know FPM Mori and all of the cultural significance behind him, you should know enough Japanese to watch the series without needing subs for most of it.

>tfw Osaka got the best Azumanga doujinshi
>tfw the artist is too busy doing Railgun to do more Azu/Yotsuba porn

Half of Osaka's charm was her Jap VA. How anyone can defend the dub is beyond me. If you've watched anime for more than a few years her comedic quirks should come through just fine.

The English VA had lots of charm too. If you've had contact with real humans for more than a few years her comedic quirks should come through just fine.

I can't believe Cred Forums is still stuck in the past. You guys know that dual audio files exist, right? You can watch it dubbed AND subbed, so you understand the voices and can tell if they changed anything.

This is retarded. You're suggesting that a light SOL comedy like AD should require years of anime watching as a prerequisite? What are they supposed to watch the first 2 years? One Piece?

>people ITT think that it matters that an adaptation of Japanese 4-panel comics is somehow made worse when translated so the audience can understand it's jokes

I agree. If you know even just an intermediate level of Japanese, you'll realize that the Japanese version is aeons better than the dub.

Nice bait. Have fun watching something when you can't understand the culture around it or half of the references in it. Dubs are for people who want to understand and enjoy what they watch instead of saying "wow, this is so superior, if only I could understand it" while they stroke their neckbeard.

What if I enjoy watching subs and saying "wow, this is so superior, if only I could understand it" while I stroke my neckbeard?

Then subs are perfect for you, but Azumanga Daioh is too simple for you. You should be watching arthouse films and stuff like Boogiepop Phantom and Serial Experiments Lain with close-as-possible translated subs.

But I like simple, relaxing, slice of life shows.

>I like simple, relaxing, slice of life shows.
>but I refuse to watch dubs, they aren't accurate to the Japanese adaptation of a 4 panel gag comic!

There is no legitimate reason why you need need simple, relaxing, slice of life shows to be in a language you don't understand. Isn't having to read the translation of the show the exact opposite of simple and relaxing? You can't just sit back and relax and zone out if you have to read everything, it isn't a book it's a comedy SOL.

If the dub was bad that's completely different, but Azumanga Daioh has a pretty good dub.

It doesn't bother me the slightest reading subtitles.

But ok, if the dub for this is good, maybe I'll watch it sometime.

I'm really not that picky I think. I was just having a laugh but you countered by taking me seriously.

Nice user. Thank you.

Osaka is Love
Osaka is Life

Got nothing better to do. Time to spam with Osaka pics I guess...

>raspberry heaven starts playing

Nah son

My heart races evey time I see her. Am I in love ?

shit taste desu

>Half of Osaka's charm was her Jap VA
And 75% of Chiyo's charm was her Jap VA
Especially when she screams

This is the single best doujin ever made

Why can't I hold all this smug?

Yeaaas, good thread.

>idiotic southern accent that sounds palpably fake is "charm"
She was awful. You and dub holofags blow my god damn mind.

Why would anyone watch the dub if you can read subtitles?

The Best girl of all time

Why would anyone watch the anime when you can read the manga?

Why not both?

The quality of the fan translation of the anime was worlds ahead of what was done for the manga c 2004.
Have you forgotten the powergap between scanlation and fansubbing now that we're in the era of CRshit?
