Candy Shop is Renge's actual mom. The father is Kazuho and Hikaru's father. In other words, Renge is their half sister, born of an affair between the middle aged man who works that farm and the teenage Candy Shop.

Everyone in that family who we've seen has dark purple hair, while Renge's hair is lighter, just like Candy Shop's lighter hair. Candy and Renge's spiky bangs are also rather similar, while the other people in that family all have much straighter hair.

When Renge was born, Candy was too young to care for a daughter, so to avoid scandal, Renge was taken care of by her father's family and everyone pretends like she's their kid. Hikaru wanted to give Candy a chance to interact with her biological daughter, which is why she called her over to babysit, and it's why Renge is so attached to Candy. Renge also went instinctively over to Candy when she was asking for permission to come on the trip and saying she'd be a good girl.

Pretty sure this was a meta joke about this thing in anime (and other media) where the script said a character heard or saw something without considering the environment.
For example people holding a conversation from too far away or like here seeing small details so they can reveal them to the audience altoguh in reality it would be almost impossible to see.

This might soud far fetched if you don't look for details like this but it's a common mistake in screenwriting it happens all the time.

1080 is just upscaled. I used to download those myself until people from here told me I could get better settings with 720. The pic I used wasn't mine. This is what my settings look like.

Horriblesubs 1080 is upscaled. Bluray 1080, OTOH, is native for the format. The anime may be upscaled for the BD, but bringing it back to 720 isn't a lossless operation, so it's best to keep it at 1080. (though a good 720 is very, very close, and certainly makes sense filesize-wise)
