Personally I think the songs will all be used properly in the movie and will go along well with it, but the reason people are disappointed I guess is because the songs aren't as appealing while listening to it standalone.

2016 movie sure is great first Kimi no na wa then Koe no Katachi and next is In The Corner of This World. Anime is already save.

Actually, since we are on this topic - KyoAni "same whatever" seems actually an advantage of them over other studios (Well, PA and Dogakobo attempt bit of the same) - as in, every previous anime is case study for future anime, which is improved version of it. They try, implement and perfect directional practices, special effects, movement animation, designs etc. that they improve in next anime and perfect in one after.

As different the shows like Chu2 -> Nichijou -> Tamako-> Amagi -> Free -> Kyoukai no Kanata ->Hibike ->Phantom -> Koe no Katachi -> Violet Evergarden are, you can see that the stuff they did in previous shows doesnt goes to waste, but actually gets improved, integrated and perfected.
