Rewatching this from the beginning right now, and I'm just blown the fuck away by the level of story and characters writing compared to modern thrash. Every time someone becomes BTFO by Takumi, they get frustrated, but in an absolutely human way, without overdoing it, just like a real person would. And "rivals" still give actual good advice to each other.

Shit, I missed good anime like this so much.

This show is pretty realistic in many aspects, that's what makes it so great and relatable.
