You would have to prove that whatever gun is a "reasonable" amount of force. I can't for example own a small tactical nuke for self-preservation against a potential government threat. I believe that guns are reasonable myself, but that's what you also need to show to seal your argument. I would argue that any form of self defense that when used properly is effective and has an extremely low possibility of harm to anything unintended is reasonable, which guns fall into.
