I'd wish the "pc's are cheap" meme would die too. $400 gets you a rig that plays console games at a steady 30 fps around 720p (1080p is taxing to a "budget" rig like that). Really $800 and up is the target mark for a 60fps at 1080p machine, and even then it's barely making the cut. And this is coming from a mustard here with a $850 rig I built over a year of super-jew budgeting myself.

He asks for recommendations and I can only give him fps recs mainly counter strike and he is interested in getting into star citizen. I had to upgrade my rig recently and it cost me around $500 for a new motherboard, couple of sticks of ram, new cooling unit and a new I5 processor, probably another $200 for a new graphics card.

It sorta hurt to drop that cash but considering that the rig outlasted two generations of consoles plus the money I saved pirating or waiting for humble bundles, it ended up paying for itself. Haven't bought a console in around 8 years.

Knowing him he won't want to buy the same game again when he can already play it with friends on his xbox, some of those games are good though particularly Hitman, I think he could get into that. I don't see him getting into any Crpgs though.

Just upgrade your PC and join in the fun, do you know how convenient it is to just get on a game right away because you're already on your PC instead of just moving to your console to turn it on and connect? Its also great because if you're already using your computer for shitposting or whatever else on the regular, you're basically just upgrading your battle station to have an extra purpose, saving you in the long run.

look at it like this. ypu spend less on a 700$ pc than you do on a console over 8 years. you have to buy games for each still, and a monitor and such, but you spend almost as much on multiplayer for the xbone and ps4 as you did on the pc.
so REALLY pc's are cheaper per generation of parts.

beyond that they are always backwards compatible, surf the internet with an actual web browser, have MUCH higher storage capacity, are completely personalized, and better looking to boot.

Well my logic is that everybody already has a computer, be it a laptop or desktop, with which you already do computer related things, but a gaming PC is what will need to be built from the ground up. Otherwise a PC you build will last you much longer than anything you bought prebuilt for general computer use, since what you build won't come with bloatware that sabotages you within 2 years like most computers you buy do.

I'm by no means a PC masterrace tard but it's honestly the best way to emulate old handheld games.
