I love SMT, EO, and DT2, but you're fucking delusional if you think SMT dungeon design is anywhere near DT2. If DT2 turned you off because it has waifus, you should actually try beating the tutorial because the game is one of the best DRPGs of all time in terms of gameplay, content, and boss fights in the 2nd half of the game.

im on the 3rd boss in the library's underground which i can only assume is the last dungeon in the game and i have to say this has not been a pleasurable ride. strange journey had way better map design and the unbalanced classes and lack of simple information like the damage multiplier on skills makes it a chore to slog through. an example is using a good chunk of your skill points on weapon mastery since passives are considered a better dump earlier levels but realizing you just spent 8 points to increase damage by 4% after digging through gamefaqs forums.

I'd say around the royal residence dungeon in the first half of the game is where it gets really interesting. 2nd half of the game is a huge spike in complexity though, the dungeons become truly devious. Pic related.
