The Aether Foundation is presented as a group of good people, but it has been speculated that they are actually evil, and were responsible for the creation of the new chimera Pokemon, "Type: Null". The Ultra Beast in OP's picture is speculated to belong to one of the leaders of "Team Skull", due to it' color scheme and "ripped clothing " aesthetic which said Team Skull leader also shares.

To add and finish to all this, the leader of the Aether Foundation (pic related) and one of the leading members of Team Skull are siblings. They both have the same hair features, eye color, and skin tone. There will probably be some feud between Team Skull and the Aether Foundation. What Pokemon Anime could have been:

Every season focuses on 1 protagonist of the games, so Season 1 would be about Ash/Red conquering the Kanto region and showing the general theme of Pokemon which is catching and training 'mons.
Season 2 could be about a kid learning about the success of the protagonist from the previous game and embarking on a journey to live the same dream, then eventually facing the champion of their childhood and ending the season with a fight between the two.
Season 3 takes place in a whole new place with a whole new feel, focusing more on a grand plot and tournaments, it could have two protagonists even, a girl and a boy who focus on each their separate thing.
Season 4 would take much from the previous season in that it's more about the grand plot rather than just adventuring, but also introducing deeper themes like the game tried to do.

"Competitive" pokemon maybe still overcentralized and wonky but it's miles better each gen than the previous on, Gen 1 was have the same 5 pokemon on every team and spam Amnesia, now it has sizable component of teambuilding and some strategy too.
An incredible amount of fixes from expanding movepools, new abilities, changes in mechanics that make most mons from older gens usable or even good, so the power creep argument is not an argument.

Most pokemon games allow for some form of freedom in the order of gyms you want to do if the player really wants to. You don't have to challenge Brawly or Winona to progress RSE's story, for instance.

That's only possible when the region doesn't require an HM for you to get to the next city. Or in gen 5's case the story just locks you in order.
