That does look pretty good, i don't see the point in comparing better mountain blade to for honor though. For Honor is like a fighting game without the execution requirement and with a 3 way defense mixup rather than a high-low game. Very different games.

i have noticed that at times actually, thought i was just fucking up

A kind user from yesterday night got me in and I'm enjoying it quite a bit right now. Not sure it's $60 fun, but I'm digging it.

I got a problem with Raiders - a guy kept spamming some sort of charged up unblockable swipe after I block a few swings. I tried to dodge it in various directions and also guard break but none of it ever worked. The Warden seems like his swing speed is too slow to knock him out of it before it lands and I lost a bunch of times trying out all the buttons I can press, but everything got beat out and I'd lose half my health.

So what's the defense against it? Parry? I suck at parry and tried but failed a lot to do it right.

I play samurai simply because it triggers Cred Forums

Play warden, bait out the overhead (most orochi can't resist going for the combo) and counter.

If they play defensively, guard break, and just keep using your left/right combo.

If you feel confident, chain the combo into guard break, but watch out for their dodge.

Same, I definitely feel like my blocks sometimes aren't registering.

Well then it would turn into a perpetual guardbreak vs guardbreak, and I'm pretty sure you can punish guardbreaks.

I mean, all games get solved if neither guy attacks at all.

Hopefully there's a faction option for the multiplayer.

When someone plays defensive, you rush him with guard breaks, If he adapts and counter your guard breaks with his owns, then you can mix in feints.

You people are vastly overstating the problem, but I think it stems from the fact that this game doesn't have dedicated servers, so when you fight the lobby host he has a definite advantage having his hits register before your parry has a chance register which causes said "bug".

There's nothing wrong with blocking..
If you're talking about Parry, then yes, that might feel odd at times. Mostly due to P2P system For Honor uses, other then that, To pull off a parry you need to reach a certain part of the start up animation of your attack. If you don't reach this point before his attack hits you, the parry fails. Whenever you reach this part is probably heavily affected by the P2P connection.

I know you can just counter the push with your own guard break but you mess up once it's a fucking instant kill off the map

duel is too easy and brawl always ends up 1v2 which is usually pretty boring because it turns into spamming heavy attacks to win.

Because just like every other ubisoft beta, if someone attached to your account (your key) does stupid shit like YOU get banned for giving them the key too. Happened in the division beta, and the r6siege beta.

it's more about reacting with blocks and knowing what your character/enemy character is capable of in terms of punishing them for mistakes or getting them to make mistakes

no, duels are pretty much spam heavy attacks until someone wins. Most people are retarded and swing in one direction for the entire match so it's easy to take them out. Otherwise you get people who lag so bad it's impossible to play and keeps disconnecting ever 3 seconds

Berserker and orochi don't have a guard, they deflect instead. If you feint (and they fall for it), their deflect gets mistimed and your real hit will go through.

not true, there are several warriors that can kill 5 o 6 in a single combo, and frankly waveclear isnt the point of the minions, personaly I use them as healthpacks by taking the killcount trait

That works, but once I've seen the Ororchi's I'm up against can play, I obviously don't try to parry the storm-rush.

Deflect leads to a free counter attack.
Deflect cannot be held down and block attacks, It can only deflect.

A parry is an extension of Guarding which allows you to temporarily get the upper-hand, but it requires precise timing which is hard to pull off.

Screw up a parry and you're in for some HEAVY damage + potential combo from opponent.
Fuck up a deflect and it becomes a simple guard.
(You block the damage, but don't get the ability to follow up)

Failing to pull up guard in time isn't a factor worth considering since if you're that slow, you shouldn't be playing a class with deflect.

Deflect was probably made to be easy to pull off
considering they can only guard for 2 seconds. at a time. But this does make deflect very powerful, as it allows Orochi to be offensive even when playing defensive.

I'm aware it works, not trying to imply anything here. Orochi warden match ups are incredibly dull at high level play. Orochi has to use zone attacks and storm rush, warden has to be extremely mindful of deflect and GB a lot.

So a deflect for assassin classes is simply a better parry in all situations, since berserker can lead it straight into a throw and orochi gets a free stab in the dick from it, parrying appears to be only for style points for them

counter guard breaks aren't really something you can do on reaction

it's essentially something you should be pressing whenever you feel your opponent is going to combo into it, way before they even try to do it

Are you sure you are actually parrying. You have to make a heavy attack in the same stance as their attack just before it hits. Doing so burns about half their stamina, staggers them, and ends combo chains. You do that and you can slip in a light attack.

If you just match the stance you are only blocking and you won't have time to sneak in a hit.

You don't attack them, it sucks but if they get the defelct they get that hit for free.

You have to guard your top stance and wait for them to slip up, parry their attack or guard break them. The storm rush you can also parry.

You can Guard, Perfect guard(It feels like a thing, I don't know) and Parry.

Guard is just holding in the right direction

Perfect guard is if you tap guard when the Red hit indicator flashes (In the Parry window) and you get a normal guard without any health penalty (Screen flashes slightly white)

Parry when you tap HEAVY ATTACK In the same direction as opponent is striking when the RED HIT inidicator FLASHES. White outline flashes on screen and the enemy gets turned around.

You can parry the raider unblockable swing, but fuck the risk. Just side dodge into the attack not away from it. Whatever side it is coming from dodge that way and you will slip under the attack and you can hammer the Raider's exposed back.

All the classes are so fucking cool in this game so far

it is mediocre. It's relatively fast paced though so you don't notice how shallow it really is in the middle of a fight. Plus the heroes have different animations so it's not like you just learn one hero and then no one can beat you.

It's not exactly the longest trip from the right analog to the X/square button, I think you might just need a quicker thumb

there are not ips, either you get lucky and stomp or you have a shit team and get stomped. You are entirely at the mercy of other players in everything but duel. If you're losing in duel, you're shit, just give up. the game is so fucking braindead easy that I can't imagine anyone being that bad.

Under no circumstances do I feel that I was defeated that match.

1. Learn the moveset of your character (watch the advanced how to play)
2. Don't go against two enemies at the same time if you are alone, do it only if you can surprise them or if one of them can be killed with one or two attacks
3. Don't hesitate to go back in A or C to heal yourself
4. You need to control distance between you and the opponent, step forward and do a light and step back, watch him and punish him if you see a stupid attack
5. Don't be afraid to run away (find your friends), you will come back to kill him when he is interested in something else

How do you guys deal with Kensei as Conquerer?

Kensei is just so fast and has so much reach, its hard to keep up with him. And it feels like there is some lag between moving the stick and actually blocking in that direction. His sword is too long to roll away from most of the time, so I'm not sure what the best way to approach him is.

You let him approach, most of the time he will not have the patience because you are hard to kill and he want to finish you before someone else come. Wait for the third hard attack which is an unblockable with fire effect, step right or left and punish. Parry with your shield or charge and punish too.
