Exactly my problems with the game.
The controls mainly suffered because the crafts pivoted from the center instead from the rear like in Pulse. So instead of turning, they were like spinning around their own axis.

I got both the Eu and the Japanese version of Pure, the Japanese version came with this dank ass artbook too.

The finisher always pissed me off for that fusion. Show me Seraphic Radiance my main man

Paragon looks beautiful, and plays pretty decently, but my GOD is the community around it absolutely horrendous, worse than other MOBA's.

I can't own SE since I don't live in Yurope, and importing one is pretty pointless when I can just emulate it. I just own a copy of each PS1 title, NTSC.
I'm too much of a fan of SE anymore anyways. I used to be an avid defender of its physics, but going back to regular the extra 5FPS was such a relief to my eyes, and the controls were more akin to 2. Most of the classic series tracks in SE were butchered, especially the lighting in the 2097 "re"makes.

HD/Fury is undeniably the best of the modern series. I'm a pretty big purist and still prefer the original trilogy on PS1 to this day, but if they ported HD/Fury to PS4 and added all the other tracks from Pulse and Pure, it would flat out be the greatest game in the series, hands down.
2048 was a pretty weak title to end the series on. 30fps, stupid craft setup (speed, agility, etc) retconning certain details from the series like magstrips existing at that time, wider tracks when wide tracks was already a problem i had with the modern games, and weak visual design that doesn't compare to HD or Pure.
I recommend you go play HD/Fury. Also try the PSP titles as well to play some tracks that didn't make it into HD/Fury.

I own every wipeout game since they came out on PSP, and yeah I did love HD/Fury. Liked 2048 as well but like I said I'm garbage at the games so probably more of the late game difficult shit is lost on me.

rogue galaxy is better than dc2, but dc2 isn't bad

Redout is a really good game but it's not really a "not-WipEout" it's trying to be it's own thing and it succeeds. It's what the genre really needs right now.
BallisticNG does a really good job of emulating the PS1 physics while still being a little bit different. The game is more than playable, but it doesn't really have a campaign at the moment so unless you are a hardcore TT-fag like me you wouldn't find much to do, at least until the multiplayer update.
Riptide GP was okay, if you are a fan of hydrothunder or other Riptide games then you will probably enjoy it. There isn't too much content though.
I'd stay away from Formula Fusion until it's more than finished, same with GRIP.

I think it's also worth noting that redout is one of the few games in the current genre revival attempt that never went through Early Access or Kickstarter. It's a finished game through-and-through, unlike FF, BnG, and GRIP.
Also, jews gotta jew. WipEout even at it's peak was still considered a niche franchise. I guess 2048 didn't sell enough vitas for Sony.

I should add, I don't see the appeal of the PvP element. I think everything else is good. I tried out the PvP of dark souls a few times and had connections from America to Australia. Skip the first one though if you don't have the nostalgia for it.

I loved the first one but it gets boring pretty soon and the PvP is disgusting.
There's no room for fun and the game is as casual and gimmicky as it gets, you are going to find havelmoms and giantdads all over the place.
The PvE is fine but the CO-OP system is fucked up and doesn't allow you to actually beat the game properly with a pal.

The game is old and never get localized

It's solid. Absolutely oozes character and controls well even on the 3DS. I can't compare it to Lost Planet since I only played the first game ages ago, but the weapon variety is decent and you have a boat load of party members that fight alongside you. It's untranslated, but so bold and brazen that you can usually infer what's happening. The only time you need a guide is if you're trying unlock some of the post-game stuff I think.

It's pretty excellent, easily accessible without any jap knowledge, shit is practically entry level japanese anyways.
Only complaint anyone can really give it though is it tends to be too easy outside of the absolute hardest challenges the game has. PS3 version still has some people playing online so co-oping the hardest missions is still possible.

Unlocking Regan and Bell is pretty much what you need some japanese knowledge for, Regan because you're required to do a multiple choice quiz, and Bell because you'll have no fucking clue what her requirements are if you can't understand what she's asking you to do (Find 3 items hidden in each base)
