It's actually not that difficult if you're a seasoned programmer / developer. There's lots of tricks you can do on Windows . You could do some layering effects with overlapping windows to create cases where something appears to pop out of a program.

The way you could do that effect is by forcing a borderless fullscreen window and disabling alt-f4.

In fact, you can see this effect in action as the sub-window takes a moment to latch onto the main window while he's dragging it really fast.

Net Yaroze games all had this weird air about them. They were great.

It's spooky sure, but it has some fucking terrible gameplay decisions and terrible platforming which totally sour it.

The first Cho Aniki is seriously weird, for example, the hand boss looks very eerie. It's not very serious but the aesthetic is very interesting.
