Bioshock

>play Bioshock for the first time
>pretty good
>go straight into Bioshock 2
>literally everything is better

Holy fuck, how did they do it?

Giga drill breaker and it plays on paternal instincts.

I fucking rampaged when those bastards dared to touch my damn daughter.

Being able to simultaneously drill a motherfucker while flamethrowering his friend him is fun as shit.

Everything is superior to 1 except for the opening and the antagonist, both of which unfortunately are shoved in your face in the first 10 minutes. Giving a lot of people an initial negative response to the game, combined with terrible technical issues and being set in Rapture again led to the false belief it was a shoddy cash grab. When you actually play it however, you realize its a worthy sequel to the original.

I've tried playing BioShock 2 5 times but I just always lose interest when I'm 1/3rd through the game
how do I keep on going lads

Its story is more emotional and therfore more relatable.

Fully upgarde drill and get Drill Dash.

Well keep reminding yourself it has the best ending in the entire series. It's like not even close.

Do it for her

because ken had no hand in it

Ken ((((((Levine)))))) had no part of it

The story didnt try and throw some twist at you.

They took out the boring and immersion-breaking hacking from the first game a replaced it with something better.

Dual-weilding/automatic eve dispenser.

Drill rush.

Awesome DLC.

The only bad things i remember about the game were the lack of good characters, the antagonist having way more history in rapture despite zero presence in the first, and the escort missions.

Is it worth rebuying bioshock 2 for that dlc they released a while ago? I never manage to make it when I try and replay games I've already played through.

Its not, Lamb is fucking terrible.

how much does it cost

minervas den is by far the best part out of either bioshock games but its quite short

Yes. Minerva's den is pretty much hailed as one the best DLCs. It takes everything that made bioshock 2 good and adds more good stuff to it. Great story, Great twist. Its super great.

Better hacking
More enemy variety
More interesting protagonist
Dual wielding
Good DLC
Better weapons
No pretentious Ken Levine writing
Simple yet emotionally investing storyline that shows us an even more fucked up Rapture

Big Daddies were easily the most memorable thing about BS1 and they were smart to let you play as one. Too many games create awesome enemies but don't let you do anything beyond kill them.

they look so much better then Bioshock 1's little sisters.

Do people still think that Delta is one of the first Big Daddies and not a failed experiment to make them more attached to thr little sisters!

I didn't find it particularly short compared to DLC for other games. It's very well paced.

The combat was better, but none of the Bioshock games have combat that I would call "good". everything else as better in the first.

That's a bad thing. They shouldn't be cute.

I really enjoyed bs1 hacking, bs2 is just a reflex test but i can appreciate how its real-time and quick.

I know Ken Levine didn't direct or write BioShock 2.
My question is, who the fuck did?

The guys who did Gone Homo.

Really?

>tfw you see retards complain that Delta is too powerful "When hes supposed to be a prototype!"

that's bullshit

because they took the first game and gave it gameplay that isn't complete shit, even though the writing is weaker but still good

Why shouldn't they be cute? I thought the whole point of making them little girls instead of hamsters or whatever was so the player would care about them. I mean why not at least make them actually look human too?

They aren't, the little sisters in Bioshock 1 look cartoonish and have anime sized eyes.

2 is more realistic.

isnt combat quite good in infinite? i personally didnt play the game but id fucking hope they improved it since thats the only thing left

Them being cuter is a bit of a point about the player character, though. Subject Delta is a big daddy, it's natural he sees them in a better light.

It's mostly the eyes, they're not the size of baseballs anymore. They also made the faces a little better.
I liked the first Bioshocks hacking at first, but the longer the game went it it started getting stale. It didn't help that by the end of the game the hacking got ridiculously luck based on whether or not you got the piece you needed within the first 5 seconds.

The problem is BS1 hacking is basically impossible to fail unless you're a retard so it just exists to break up gameplay sections. I agree sometimes it's fun to play a minigame instead of shooting splicers in the face though.

You're playing as a big daddy, dipshit.

The gunplay is pretty great in infinite 2bh.

I just wish they didn't give you a 2 weapon limit.

Never mind, they just did the Minerva DLC.

comparison

Source? I refuse to believe this.

>the antagonist having way more history in rapture despite zero presence in the first

This triggered me a hell of a lot more than it should have. She was so shoehorned into the game it was embarrassing. It was like a shitty fanfic.

Little Sisters see Big Daddies as gold-plated knights in shining armour. It's only natural Big Daddies would see them differently too so they stand out from all the threats in the environment.

2 is worse with the fucking awful arena maps, rapture is supposed to be tight not as large as tf2 badlands

Yeah, I get where they are coming from but all they have to do is reverse the role. Maybe it's a prototype BECAUSE they were so strong. So all produced big daddies afterwards are weaker on a scale, which fits the narrative of you carving through them.

They had very little budget, time, or manpower for B1. They didn't have much more for B2 but they were able to build off what they already had and what they learned.

The remaster interviews are pretty interesting. They literally had nobody on the B1 team with experience in animating models - Shawn Robertson just figured it out as he went along...and it kind of shows.

you can find it by just searching "minervas den gone home"

Big sister fights were retarded. Why the fuck was she angry for me saving little sisters?

Se weird that they went back to the ayylmao design for BaS.

they let that hack levine work on that shitheap infinite and gave the label to a competent studio in the meantime

Big Sisters were basically Lamb's personal hit squad.

They were attacking you if you saved OR killed the Little Sisters, because either way it fucks with Lamb's plan.

>The remaster interviews
what are these

Whether you kill or save them you are taking away ADAM from Lamb. Big daddies and sisters dont actually care about the little sisters beyond their ability to harvest ADAM.

> She was so shoehorned into the game it was embarrassing
I thought the writing team did ok given that they did have to shoehorn the entire game in. Lamb was neutralized by Ryan before well B1 so it kind of makes sense that she doesn't show up.

Maybe she thought you were kidnapping them.

They're developer commentaries you can find in the remastered version of Bioshock 1 that came out a few days ago.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Gaynor

It was made the people who made Gone Home while they still worked with 2K. They left to become SJW indie devs after 2K Marin dissolved.

show me a better, more memorable and charismatic character design than Big Daddy and Little sister

inside the game? i havent noticed

that is absolutely disgusting

The B1 remaster just released includes a bunch of videos of Dorito Pope interviewing Ken and Shawn. Bet you can watch em on youtube by now.

Are there any for 2?

...

The fact they allowed this blatant religious collectivist cunt into Rapture in the first place is stupid.

I think they could have done better and written the villain differently. She shows up in a ton of tapes and is referenced in a bunch of others and there's tons of portraits with her and everything

It was ridiculous to even have a character like her be allowed to show up to Rapture at all, she went against literally everything Ryan stood for. Her existance was an asspull for a rando villain. They tried to copy Ryan and ended up with a preachy cunt who lacked anything interesting, compelling or hell anything reasonable about her to begin with. Ryan you could at least kind of respect with his crazy ideals and the moxie to get it done.

They're kinda hidden, most of them are pretty out of the way.
I haven't seen any option for them in the main menu, and I haven't found any of them in any of the levels so far, so I'm going to say no.

>Why the fuck was she angry for me saving little sisters?
Bitches be crazy. They're basically Delta big daddies post-little sister dean without a killswitch.

I had one of the most confusing moral choices in video games. But that's okay, it's refreshing to make a choice that isn't so black and white.

Why didn't people like Bioshock 2 when it came out?

Why do critics only really like Bioshock 1 and Infinite?

>Play Bioshock 1
>you're a pansy little clone
>tutorial says "shock and wench to kill enemies"
>you shock, you wench, they die
>BO2
>you play a hulking big daddy motherfucker
>melee does jack shit
>bullets are nerfed
>you die even faster than pansy clone from BO1
>Also that bullshit minigame where you have to defend your loli while she harvests corpses MANY TIMES OVER, while in BO1 you only did that shit once.
And that's why I didn't get past the "on the surface...but the parasite SAYS NO" museum zone

why?

2 is just more of the same with worse maps and worse story
also is so easy it is ridiculous

???

Yeah melee should have just been extremely OP in 2. Would have been more fun

Don't ever reply to me again.

Because it didn't have deep political themes or epic twists that appeal to pretentious games journalists who think they're smarter than they really are.

It came out very fast after B1 and it was damn near a complete cashgrab rehash. B1 was a shockingly good game for people who didn't play SS.

Apparently having more fun is bad.

they remind of ghosts from luigi's mansion

The act of shooting guns is better than the other bioshock games since they don't feel like peashooters, but they went full halo and added a 2 weapon limit (15 years later and it's STILL shitting up the industry) and the plasmids (they're not called plasmids but I forgot what stupid name they used; plus the lore says they came about from plasmids anyway) just suck. They're no fun to use and aren't any more effective than just using your guns

People always say this but that's what's so GOOD about her.

Lamb is super fucking obnoxious and I hated her, but that made her a fantastic villain. I was DELIGHTED to tear through her hordes at the end of the game.

>get the insect swarm plasmid
>the game is over
wow such fun

I remembered when Cred Forums shat on Bioshock 2 a few years back on release. Now general consensus did a 180.

I was one of the few people back then that defended Bioshock 2 because the gameplay was simply better.

Get shat on past Cred Forums.

>Because she's annoying and poorly written she's a good villain
only for simpletons

The game already explains that most of the Splicers have genetically evolved to deal with Big Daddies over the years so they're not as effective anymore. That's why they introduced the new type that throws bombs and turrets.

hi

Elizabeth is too charismatic, honestly.

I can't believe that she's lived in her tower in isolation for most of her life and yet acts like a Disney Princess ideal of a young woman.

I just want to fuck Shodan

Getting to kick ass with Eleanor during that final bit was just fucking amazing.

>>melee does jack shit

What the fuck happened with Infinite?
Why was it so bad?

it is exceedingly likely some people here prefer 2 over 1 just because 4chin is full of contrarians and its the unpopular opinion. regardless 2 has objectively better combat which is the thing i care about

>muh different developer BOOGEYMAN

That's literally it.

btw Critics loved it.

it wasn't

>le Bioshock 2 was better maymay
My favorite meme on Cred Forums. It really makes it easy to tell who was here when the game came out and who are the fedora contarians who think it's the best after Infinite was so shit.

Most "good villains" don't get me actually make me hate them. They have their reasons, and we have to fight. That's most villains.

I can't think of villain I actively disliked and disagreed with more than Lamb. I loathed her. Most "good" villains are charismatic and hard to really hate even if they're psychotic.

Nah, just the opening.
The Antagonist is an interesting comparison to both Andrew Ryan and literally every character from the original Bioshock.

All the characters in Bioshock 1 had this weird Snyder-esque quality about them where they talked in a way that was generally just not-natural...it was entirely for the sake of establishing philosophy or exposition.

Sophia Lamb is kind of a callback to those characters who were the lynchpins of Rapture whereas the majority of the characters you deal with in Bioshock 2 are more human, have issues that are more personal and less based in ideals or philosophy.
It was a response to Bioshock 1 in every sense, both in the reversal of themes but also the reversal in how characters are, well, characterized.

Also, Eleanor is a superior female-lead to Elizabeth in every sense of the word
>Elizabeth would be unimportant if not for her powers
>Eleanor literally starts the protagonist on his way of her own volition

>Elizabeth only gets fighting bits in the DLC
>Eleanor is learning how to be a Big Sister in her offtime and you get to see it

>No bullshit "Man, we mentioned quantum physics, are we deep now" ending
>Ending differences are both nuanced and meaningful to your choices

It handled the "Role Playing" part a helluva lot better than Bioshock 1 or Infinite

It's been awhile...wasn't the excuse for her being there basically that a bunch of depressed people forced ryan to invite a psychologist and she was the most renown? It's definitely an asspull but it let them explore collectivism as a counter to the failed objectivism philosophy of andrew ryan.

I enjoyed the concept of the remaining Rapture citizens rejecting their previous "false prophet" and quickly falling in line behind a similar character on the opposite end of the spectrum. Still an asspull, but excusable to provide a counterpoint to the first game - just in my opinion.

You've made me happy tonight OP because holy shit when it first game out you COULD NOT hold this opinion and still be taken seriously among Bio/Systemshock fans. All they could talk about was how the story wasn't as good, even though I found even that part of the game to be perfectly fine. Drill-only is still so amazingly fun.

Yeah i saw matthewmatosis' vid too

Two different devs and the original wanted them to forget that 2 existed

because if people remembered that 2 existed they would remember that it had better gameplay

>It didn't help that by the end of the game the hacking got ridiculously luck based on whether or not you got the piece you needed within the first 5 seconds
not to mention bullshit like this (which still isn't fixed in the """"remaster""""). I'll take a 3 second QTE over this any day

can we have one thread where we don't talk about Infinite, it's been shitposted to death already

it's literally talked about everyday, go look in the archives.

nice try Ken
compared to BioShock 1, Infinite was fucking shit.
Why did you remove so many gameplay elements?
What kind of fucking story was that? You fucked time travel/multiple dimensions up. It doesn't make any sense.

There's an early tape where Ryan says he never realized she was a collectivist until it was too late. There's another tape that says something along the lines of her being brought in because of her being a respect psychologist or pediatrician or something, i can't even remember.

Fuck off Levine.

>I will never die in Eleanor's loving embrace
Delta had a hard life

I came to that conclusion on my own, though.

Not everyone watches meme youtubers and has them decide their opinions for them. "Elizabeth is too perfect for who she is" is a pretty easy conclusion to make.

BUY THE FUCKING HACK YOU SHITTER

That's what makes them compelling instead of trash user. Lamb is everything you don't want to do with a villain, especially after coming off Bioshock one where they had Ryan. A guy who it was hard to disagree with until you see the sordid details of what a world without societies morals really turns into. She would have been a fine villain in another game, but in a bioshock game? C'mon.

You literally quoted him word for word lad

The remaining 10% of rapture's population are the toughest motherfuckers on earth, basically.
Still die quick when you pop them in the head with the upgraded rivet gun.
>Also that bullshit minigame where you have to defend your loli while she harvests corpses MANY TIMES OVER, while in BO1 you only did that shit once.
It was an interesting concept but yeah, repeated too many times.
>museum zone
Literally the worst level in the entire series. Give it another shot and just power through that part.

that's intentional, there's tonics to fix that

It's still bullshit though.

That only further enforces how much of an asspull it was to have her there.

strange, this never happened to me in the original and i played it thru like 4 times hacking everything. havent touched remaster yet

>They're no fun to use and aren't any more effective than just using your guns
This is a problem with 1 too. Electroshock is the only super useful plasmid.

>Cred Forums thread about my favourite bioshock
>Overwhelmingly positive response, good discussion, minimal shitpost/trolling
>ctrl+F
>"meltzer"
NO ONE FUCKING MENTIONED THE MOST HEART-RENDING PART OF THIS GAME? HOW THE FUCK EVEN, Cred Forums?
did you niggas listen to ANY audiotapes?

It happened to me one time during the remaster.

They're Little Sisters who came out the other side of Adam-infused puberty aggressive and strong enough to eat angels alive. You have huge guts.

freeze is basically instakill on splicers tho

No, people don't understand what a prototype is in technology and consumerism.
Prototypes are where all the research go, so they get the most funding to over-compensate for various issues that might arise from having cheaper or less complex functionality.

Then once the design has been proven to work, assuming this is a lab funded by a business or corporation, they get to work on cutting out anything non-essential and figuring out how cheap you can make the parts while still having it work.

Hence, Prototypes get all the attention and funding and the mass-produced models are designed for cost-effectiveness.

Saying Delta is stronger because he's a prototype makes perfect sense. He got the strongest binding-procedure to his little sister, he got the best defense tools to use against Splicers, he got the best mobility and flexibility in weapon usage because they weren't sure what would be absolutely neccesary to defend the Little Sisters.

Once they figured that out, they started putting together suits JUST strong enough to hold off average splicers and figured that Big Daddies don't need all this intelligence, so they cut back on the preservation procedures to stave off ADAM-Neural decay

who /ryanthelion/ here

>no loot

Nigga what

they dont drop shit anyway

Bioshock 1 isn't Bioshock 2, Lamb and Ryan are completely different people. It didn't really bug me.

I'll tell you again, I came to that conclusion on my own. It's one of the most glaring issues in the game's story, it's not that hard to get the same idea or word it in a similar way.

Oh true, OP wrench build skipped my mind for some reason.

Luck you. I had that shit happening way too frequently towards the end.

they don't let you play as the cool looking ones, though :(

>you can just rehash the first game for money
>you make a better game instead

kek

Wont you be a broke bitch with no ammo for the weapons you want or EVE half the time without loot?

Ryan would never allow such degeneracy in Rapture, much less in his likeness.

So, say they did the original idea for Bioshock 2 where you're fighting the Red Army after they discover Rapture.

Would it have been good?

>buy bioshock collection
>no commentary for 2

>worse story
>worse maps
>plasmids are unbalanced and overpowered
>no sense of wonder since you've been to rapture before and there's nothign new
>no one is charismatic as cohen, doc.hink, tenenbaum, fontaine or ryan
>>>>>>better game
never change Cred Forumseddit

>implying 99% of everything in Rapture isn't allowed in unless it gets past Ryan's narccissistic standards
There was that one socialite in multiplayer who hired Fontaine to smuggle his pet tiger into Rapture.
WHO IS RYAN TO TELL A MAN HE CANT OWN A TIGER

Motherfucker you get greeted with a giant fucking bronze statue of his face right at the beginning of the game

I killed that nigga for his ADAM.
His daughter is ok though

you should get all you need from containers and such, loot from normal enemies is rarely good

Or Augustus "you thought I was gonna screw you over" Sinclair.

>game makes alterations to help align the Player's feelings with those of the protagonist, without making the protagonist entirely blank-slate

FUCKING GREAT. WHY IS THIS GAME SO GOOD.

The Little Sisters looking cute is how the Big Daddies see them.

Jack in the first game sees them how they really look.

>I forgot what stupid name they used

Vigors.

>followed that ARG for months
>actually made it into the game
>as a guy you have to kill
>his last thoughts were hoping someone would help his daughter

Fuck you, 2K. At least I saved his daughter.

>Alexander and Sinclair are great

what about burial at the sea

2 has better combat, better vertical level design and arguably better hacking. no one cares about story get fucked

well i cant speak for others but when bs2 came out we had very good threads about it here mostly people didn't like it cause ken wasn't a part of it

How is the story worse?
How are the maps worse?
I'll give you the point on Plasmids
Also, that's what was so interesting about this game: it's less about the LORE of Rapture as much as it was about the people who lived in it. The singer, the reporter, the salesman, they all had lives in this place outside of the lofty power-players we see in Bioshock 1.

No one is as charismatic as Cohen or Ryan or Fontaine? Who is Augustus Sinclair?
youtube.com/watch?v=i1fR-RDf0WM

who?

Infinite's strengths were in the art design and atmosphere and it still shows. The gameplay is still generic and the story is still really mediocre.

(You)

I never finished Infinite, it just lacked the magic of 1 and 2 desu

the level design is the worst thing in the game, they are fucking multplayer arenas in a game supposed to take place in a claustrophobic city under the sea

ok now i see he is weeb talking about weeb games who would watch him besides retarded 4channers who wank to zelda smut?

The people of Bioshock 2 were horribly uninteresting. Compare them to the character that was Rapture from Bioshock one, seriously do so and realize how fucking wrong you are on every level.

It's a better game but a worse VN.

>Sinclair
Absolutely 100% no-doubts "OUR" guy.

1998 mode was really cool

Only faggots put story over gameplay in terms of priority

probably not. the original trailer for infinite suggested that there was some time/dimension going on where columbia was taken over by soviets too, but that got reworked into the vox populi. and if you ask me, infinite got way worse after they showed up.

>how did they do it?

it's a fucking sequel you dip

the devs have a chance to refine game mechanics when they have the opportunity to look back at their previous work

too bad the story, pacing and level design aren't as good. and being a big daddy makes the game lose a significant sense of danger. also fuck that multiplayer.

>fucking THIS

You protected them, right?

I always do an evil run first and then a good run.

>tfw I blasted that Grandma's face open
Should have goven me the key

>there are people who didn't protect the little sisters
Complete bastards

>there are people who dont use the drill arm, ever
Its like they dont wanna have fun

absolutely. ;_;7

of course, man those lines are so dam cute

>uninteresting
That's a conclusion, you have to explain why they were uninteresting.
And rapture in Bioshock 2 was a new and different character. Instead of a down-trodden junkie, it was now a self-mutilating cultist, with a corrupted form of hope vested in A single personality.

The core of Bioshock 1's appeal for so many was that it was a new world and people love Novelty. It's why Bioshock Infinite did so much better than Bioshock 2 even though 2 was superior in every respect. Columbia was a new world to explore and people's response to new looking content is almost always positive

Hell no, fuck em. If I could have sucked the magic out of Elizabeth, I'd have done it too. You know you'd be firing plasmids out of your dick if you did.

I feel the opposite way. Infinite was amazing, Bioshock 1 just felt dull and boring by comparison. Never bothered with 2.

Did anyone else end up putting more time into the multiplayer than the singleplayer? Or was it just me?

always.

There's shitstorm coming your way and all I'll say is I respect your opinion although I disagree with it.

I loved Columbia though.

No, and I never bothered with "good" runs. Everything in Rapture is a monster, and I'm not about to trust the word of a nazi woman.

Him getting turned into a Big Daddy is what pushed me over the edge of my "Should I kill Lamb or not" first-run.
He may have conned everyone else in his life but he did good by us for reasons beyond profit

People who didn't buy the game shiters on the game. They felt that the game was a cash grab and didn't want a sequel because Ken Levine said he wanted to ditch Rapture and so something else.

Sequal fixed the gameplay, had an better interesting story line, and better settings. But people ignored this because they didn't get the WOW SOMETHING COMPLETELY NEW feeling

I've always liked the thought of a city underwater or underground more than a floating city.
Plus, it looked too bright and happy for me tbqh, I like the darkness.

Is it still possible to play the MP in Bioshock 2? I've heard good things about it.

Was there any other way to play, besides drill-and-plasmids-only, save the sisters, and pierce the fucking heavens??

nope

(You)

>melee does jack shit
It was the most powerful weapon

Just you though I played a bit of the multiplayer to get all the audio tapes.
It did for me what the ME3 multiplayer did for the War on the Reapers: gave gravity to the little things.

These fags who enjoy playing as the big daddy are idiots because big daddies are not important. Their a interesting part of the game that makes the art style and builds the world. In bioshock 1 you play as the ace in the whole, a character that is made to be a tool of the people around them. In bioshock 2 you just play as a big daddy who is bound to a little sister.

Bioshock 2 adds nothing to the world and nothing to world of rapture. The best part of bioshock 2 is were you go through the theme park of Andrew ryan. YOU even become a big daddy in the end of bioshock 1 which shows how un important or even intresting big daddies are. They fucking do the maintenance of rapture and thats what they are their for.

Not i admit that the gameplay of bioshock 2 is far better then bioshock 1 which in the remaster of it i wish they did overhaul it but that being said the world of bioshock is what makes it and simply bioshock adds nothing to the core ideologies of rapture.
In 1 ryan speaks of the great chain and the hypocrisies of man and how you are being play for a fool in a sea full of sharks
In 2 you play as a big daddies who has nothing more then a maternal emotional connection for a girl and you must save and protect her. This is nice and intresting but bioshock infinite does this better.
in bioshock infinite you play as comstock, the over baring father who burdons his daughtor with his own ideologies and you play as booker dewitt who is a gambler who is unreasonable and lets his daughtor do what ever she wants.
2 is nothing more then fan service for the fans and thats why people enjoy it. The drill is cool, the big sissters are cool. Its a nice game but the story it makes is trash compared to the rest of the series.

Wish I knew where I put my Bioshock 2 CD. It was before physical copies of PC games just had a steam code inside so never got it in my steam library.

>2 better than 1
haha right. 2 is just a carbon copy of 1. there's nothing different. 1 was original and new.

I have no clue

BS2's gameplay felt way better than BS1's, you could be far more creative with traps and stuff in BS2 for example, and shooting felt less clunky. I'll have to replay it again to see what flaws there were but I don't remember having any problems with it that made me think it was inferior to BS1. One thing's for sure, it wasn't inferior to infinite, I have no idea how anyone could think that. Infinite was such a mess both gameplay and story-wise.

>see Infinite and its DLC at a discount
>loved BS1 and heard great things about Infinite so I bought all the DLC with the game
>mfw the game was so bad that I didn't even want to play the DLC

Cred Forums has shit taste when it comes to video games

you misunderstand, the story wasn't trying to be anything more then what it was.

I remember not playing 2 for a while and having a false memory about a tonic that gives you only the drill with infinite fuel.
I was pretty pissed when I found out I remembered it completely wrong, but Bees with lowered EVE cost were pretty fun if a little OP.

...

...

It's not bait at all, I really prefer Infinite. Maybe it's just because I played it first.

ME3 mulitplayer was fun too, you actually got to play as the other Races.
The Geck or Robo guy was powerful as fuck.

More games need drill weapons.
>VROOM

>How is the story worse?
it doesn't have an epic twist followed by a nosedive in the narrative. instead they just told a straight story how boring.

This mate. They turned everything up to 11 in terms of weapons and player ability from 1 so much that it felt great. Going from a Tommy Gun to a fucking Minigun as your main machine gun was a satisfying observation.

I haven't played the game in a while, but was it possible to shatter multiple enemies at once with a drill dash?

That's fine, Infinite really triggers Cred Forums for some reason though, you can't discuss it here.

Best part was how it showed you how the Little Sisters see the world/Rapture.

>In 2 you play as a big daddies who has nothing more then a maternal emotional connection for a girl and you must save and protect her. This is nice and intresting but bioshock infinite does this better.
No it doesn't you retard
In bioshock 2 you start off by trying to save your daughter in Infinite you are a man paid to get a girl back, you don't find out she's your daughter until the end.

Finish 2nd grade before posting again.

>Most "good villains" don't get me actually make me hate them
>Most "good" villains are charismatic and hard to really hate even if they're psychotic
the villains you can't hate can make for the best ones; but there's definitely a difference between villains that you don't hate because they're being comically stupid or being evil just for the sake of being evil and villains you don't hate because you actually sympathize with them and video games all too often end up in the former case.

I mean, with video games that's kinda the point of a villain is for them to be unlikable so it helps with immersion, but when the bad guy is acting like a villain just for the sake of being the villain it feels too "video game"-ey. Now, that's now always a problem, but unless you're playing doom or wolfenstein it just feels lame in comparison to vaillains that have more sympathetic motives (pic related).
I won't say Lamb's a terrible villain since she certainly fulfills the unlikable requirement and kinda has a presence in the game similar to ryan in B1, but they way she's looking to accomplish her goals are just way too out there and even what she's trying to do makes little sense, so she feels a little too much like maleficent or something.

>post yfw you found out what Lamb did to Sinclair

>Going for the "bad" ending
Any extra adam you believe you're getting isn't worth the trouble when compared to the good ending. The game constantly punishes you for killing the little sisters. However, it constantly rewards you for saving them. You make back all of the adam you lost, and then some, from the gifts they give you for saving them.

So how did Delta do the thing where he somehow turns a little girl with a slug inside of her into a normal human?

There's also the fact that it's retarded to make the use of Plasmids on your guardians standard when there's an Adam shortage

>(pic related)

Magic

So if Vigors are basically Plasmids anyway why didn't they need Adam or turn everyone into weird goblins like in Rapture?

You have to fight a ghost bitch. Twice

I didn't do it for the adam, I just don't trust anything I find down there, much less glowy-eyed, flanging-voiced Shining kids

Because almost nobody used them, The ones who did became insane.

Congratulations. You've put more thought into this than ken levine.

Ouch.

Nope, I went bareback on them all.

Not many people used the vigors. Those that did started to go insane, we saw it with Slate and with some of Comstock's soldiers (the firemen and the crows were all clearly nuts).

Billy

The problem I had with it is that the maps felt like a fucking arena and not a real city
In one area you have citizens doing their regular stuff and on the other side it was empty

It's some sub-par Bioshock back-tracking in the first Burial At Sea and some weak stealth bits in the Second Burial at Sea

I respect that but Infinite is almost unanimously hated here in Cred Forums for being a bad game while being so praised.

This, although I'd say you can discuss it.

Steam is full of butthurt little cucks who give a game a 1/10 because of a lack of graphic options.

Not that I care at this point given that I've heard bad shit from the DLC too.

I saved the first 4 and murdered the rest
Optimal runs, son

I would but I could never find any of the damn fuel for it

Why is everyone on this board so fucking contrarian?

...

Lamb is a better antagonist than Fontaine to be honest.

>for being an average game while being so praised
Fixed. Please, it's nothing amazing, but it was perfectly enjoyable to play.

Dumbest fucking post I've seen all month.

>Augustus "you thought I was gonna screw you over" Sinclair
Esquire

>play BS2
>had watched the Yahtzee review beforehand
>went in with no expectations
>ended up being my favorite Bioshock game

Why is Yahtzee such a faggot?

also
>tfw no Eleanor daughter to raise and teach to be righteous

for (You)s

The reason people like to shit on Infinite so much is because it's a very easy way to fit in here.

People like to feel like they belong.

The game has flaws for sure, it's been discussed to death.

but people just won't stop posting about it and shitting on to the point where it's become a circlejerk and a easy way to get (You)s and people to agree with you.

The people that actually disliked for valid reasons are done talking about, whoever is left is just a parrot looking for validation on a Himalayan Finger-painting forum.

>you will never live on an island with your best friend raising your crew of adorable little daughters and their old sister

Looking at the reviews it seems that there's a common issue of it crashing every time a Big Sister shows up

did you spare her, Cred Forums?

It's getting shat on because the "remasters" are even more broken than the originals.

shooting felt like ass
the guns were boring and excessive
the plasmids or whatever they were called were far too homogenous especially coming from all the options you had in BS2
if you played on hard it was a miserable experience especially with the ghost boss fight

the only remotely interesting thing about infinite for me was the twins

Oh is that really not explained?
I always assumed I just overlooked it.

I get why people wanted it to have a twist but look at how hard they tried to recreate that shit in Bioshock Infinite.
The fundamentals of the Bioshock 1 twist was that it was based on manipulating a narrative trope that everyone took for granted. Twisting the story into something non-related is unnecessary and retarded

oh. Well that just seems to be the norm for PC ports nowadays. shame.

I agree with you.

It was a dull FPS. I never enjoyed anything after its first hour. It was on the bad side of average.

Praise for it triggers me so hard though that I feel compelled to hate it.

I killed the people who were mean to Eleanor and spared the people that were nice to her. I was playing with my emotions

>no one is charismatic as cohen, doc.hink, tenenbaum, fontaine or ryan
>tenenbaum...ryan
>those 2 are literally in the fucking game

Yeah, she cared for Eleanor while her batshit crazy mother was in sea-jail, it'd be pretty rude to kill her after taking care of your daughter.

Fuck you for reminding me that he's dead

Of course I did, she kept Eleanor safe while her "mom" was being a bitch.

It's brushed away as him getting the same plasmid as Jack did in BS1

yeah
only killed Poole and only because i had a security bot on me and it shot him

>mfw Eleanor drowns Lamb

>Ghost Mom on 1998 or 1999 or whatever that difficulty was called
That was the worst part of the game right here. What the fuck were they thinking with that fight? oh yeah, lets make the player fight the same shitty boss three times in a row with the only difference between fights being the arena.

She's just doing what you taught her

>Eleanor drowns Lamb

Eleanor Lamb drowns herself?

Injectables are way stronger than consumables

I wouldn't even mind that if she wasn't broken in a health-sponge sort of way.
No Vulnerable state, no high-mechanic trick. She's just a super-tanky summoner of enemies who are already fairly competent on 1999 mode.
She was poorly designed for any arena she was in to the point where going down one difficulty state made her doable in seconds.
That's not how you design difficulty you fucks

I still can't believe that syringes the size of a coke bottle managed to catch on

>Jack just stabs them into his arm like he's trying to force it to come out the other side

THIS IS A PSA TO ANYONE PLAYING THE NEW BIOSHOCK REMASTER

Before playing Bioshock 2, I STRONGLY recommend you check out There's something in the sea. It's an ARG created to advertise the game, and gives you an incredible amount of lore and backstory, and is just a very immersive and interesting experience in general.

If you don't mind browser based games, and some broken links here and there, check out the SITS archives

rapturearchives.org/php/sits.php

This.
The DLC, I think, implies that they are newer to Columbia than they had been for Rapture. Like, within the last year new.
So they haven't had enough time to get their shit fucked but I'm guessing that the lack of Tonics (which actively alter your make-up) has some part in it too compared to single-modifications to get powers.

And Tonics seemed to be really fucking easy to grab, why didnt all the police men have any?
They were advertised in shops and shit all the time, there were tons at the fair and if all you need to power them up were the salts, you could get those too.

just set traps on her spawns

>that one part of the game where you take over a little sister and view the world through her eyes
Best part of the series

>adobe flash
nah

Used to check up on that Martin Mystery every day after the initial announcement

>playing the remaster

yes. I started searching for a game yesterday and got put in one with 5 other people in less than 10 seconds (at 2AM no less)

Nigger, I didn't have a hard time with the minions or anything. Hell, if I recall I broke the second fight by breaking her AI somehow and making her just stand there doing nothing, meanwhile I spent a minute shooting at her nonstop.

My complaint wasn't that the fight was difficult, it was that it was fucking boring, went on forever (more so because 1999 made everything a bulletsponge) and you had to do it three times in a row.

...

what did she do

I got a real hipster opinion right here.

I like all of the games and their DLC

Mods pls, I'm not trying to start a flame war, I promise.

Agreed

Which game had the best protagonist?

Well let's see
>Quiet clone
>Prototype Big Daddy
>Annoying git

>carefully decide which weapons I want to upgrade
>end up not getting a single one to drop during that boss fight

I spent a lot of time emptying unupgraded gun after unupgraded gun into that boss, I probably spent more time trying to find ammo/weapons than I did actually trying to fight her. That boss is one of the reasons I really hated the 2 weapon system and the large number of guns. It's not even like they had a lot of unique guns, they had silly stuff like a burst fire variant of the regular machine gun which made it more difficult to find ammo for the guns you upgraded

Minerva's Den

The decision to have you play as a big daddy was absurdly stupid. It's a character you can't self insert into, which severely impacts attachment to the story, and they didn't even make up for it by making the gameplay ever have you feel like a Big Daddy either.

I liked Booker desu

We don' Like yer kine 'roun heah
Git!

>he doesn't want to be a big, strong knight-like being protecting his little girls

Drill dash you dipshit

It is COMPLETELY a character you self-insert into
It's why they have you make decisions in game at all.
The idea is that it's you, in a shitty situation of being a mute Big-Daddy, looking for your daughter either by love or psychological programming (you decide) and teaching her morals by your decisions.
How is the mute from BS1 any different or more relatable?

BaS Episode 2

In his defense, cucks can't put themselves in a strong male father role

It's always funny that Jack stops talking, screaming and making grunts outside the first five minutes of the game.

He stops communicating for literally no fucking reason

...

>character with no backstory
>no voice
>you make moral decisions

????????????

Look at this faggot and drill dash.

Delta.
Jack was interesting but he was mostly a surrogate for the gamer. Not the player but the idea of the Gamer doing blindly as the supporting cast says because it's how the story is built, never questioning their motives (one thing I appreciate about Far Cry 4 now that I think about it).
Booker was his own character and he was interesting but, incidentally, he was most interesting as a hallucination for Elizabeth in the last DLC.
Delta had depth no matter which decisions you made, and this largely has to do with how personal your decisions are with each of the Three Kills but also how the slight differences in Eleanor's evaluation of your actions is depending on how you act.

>literally being gay

She's a shit character

Bioshock inf has a bad combat, perhaps the worse of the 3. 2 is the best one.

You e e, therr is something called dificulty curve. Bioshock 1 and 2 start hard, with a single bigdaddy kicking your shit in, an dby the end you are taking 1 or 2 upgraded versions of thr big daddies (or big sis) at the same time and winning. That is player progression, it is satisfying. In infinite, the Enel es start becoming damage sponges and normal mooks take 3 headshots from a fully upgraded sniper rifle to die. That is the oposite, and is horrible for a fps.

They're little girls because they're supposed to be disturbing fuckwit.

If not liking that means you're gay then congratulations, you've explained why homosexuality is so prevalent nowadays.

The difference is what the big daddies see vs what they really look like. Plus the time difference between 1 and 2.

I kinda wished they kept with the idea of you exploring Pre-Fall rapture during the first bit of the civil war

>play Bioshock remastered
>try turning anti-aliasing from off to on
>it crashes

...

>(one thing I appreciate about Far Cry 4 now that I think about it)
oh yeah i forgot about good ol Pagan. i wish they actually let you fuck shit up with him so i didn't have to choose between Amita Sarkeesian or the traditionalist pedophile.

Kinda off topic but did anyone else get weirded out by the three kills. The first two were fine but the last guy was a really odd case. He wanted to die (while he was sane) and was doing nothing but mad scientist experiments and fucking with people, why did the game consider it bad to kill him?

>smoking
DROPPED

Yeah...it'd be interesting to have a counter campaign where you beat out the golden path with Pagan and Yume and Paul. Learn more about what Pagan has done to the place, how he regrets or wishes you do better.
I didnt get the secret ending spoiled for me so I just loved it when he came back and saw us to the shrine and went full Cool Stepdad on us

Im interested, mind explaining why?

>bioshock 2 crashes 2 hours into a level
>only autosaves at the start of every chapter

noice

What was up with the whole southern and oldie niggers? Did BS 2 took place somewhere else on the same wolrd ala borderlands 1 & 2

Because, even though his old self wanted him dead, his new self was a new person.
If you realized the body you were in belonged to someone else and they wanted to die but you came into the body instead, would you kill yourself?

On a side note, the game doesnt consider it bad but it sends a different message to Eleanor than "All Life is Sacred"
The Eleanor-morality system is actually pretty complex

How did you feel about Infinite?
I need to know.

>first time I ever played it
>still couldn't wrap my head around plasmids being right click and weapons being left click because that didn't match the hands, misclicked constantly
>want to spare her because she doesn't seem all that bad, only protecting what she's got
>go to take a nice picture of her with the research camera
>right click

Oh Christ, I can just imagine a flustered Delta rushing away from a burning corpse.

see

2 was more fun in combat in general I found. And there were improvements to stuff like hacking.

However, the characters and story were weak. The 'English' accents by characters like Eleanor were awful. Especially the young Eleanor. Just made it so cringe. At least the Lutece's had a passable accent even if it wasn't quite right.
Lamb also felt completely shoehorned in and boring. Your sidekick guy too can't remember his name was just that forgettable.

So what do little sisters see when Splicers try to grab up on them and murder them for Adam like what happened in the intro to the Big Daddy in 1?
I think that would ruin their immersion.

>Melee does jackshit
>Not doing an entire run based on just Plasmids and Melee
Your sir, are a noob.

Fun for the most part but its themes are all over the place and are only really consolidated a little in the DLC.
The biggest issue it had was the lack of proper mechanics to reflect its themes.
In Bioshock 1, every splicer was out against you and you had to use the same drugs they did to stand a chance. You could feel yourself become drunk on their power.

In Bioshock 2, you now had to fight a self-sacrificing collective of zealots, all working under a cult of personality. You yourself are exceptional but your dedication is to your bonds (Augustus, the little sisters, Eleanor) whereas the splicers are now dedicated to the commune and throw themselves into the meat grinder (you) willingly if they think it will help the whole.

Bioshock Infinite takes the same mechanics of Bioshock 1 and 2 and doesnt give any emotional resonance to them OR the new Skyline/Elizabeth mechanics.

Skyline COULD be some allegory for how no decisions matter and you're stuck on a rail anyways. Elizabeth was kind of shoddily thought through though coded decently. She opens up Tears but those dont have much to do with any theme other than her powers just existing. She throws you shit but it's kind of random and rarely reflects any growth in your relationship with her. She never figures out how to fight with you or find something for you on some shared vibe or beat.

Bad men trying to take them away from Daddy

Flustered Delta rushing away from an electrocuted corpse, actually.
And the game auto-saved after that, there wasn't shit I could do.

These girls tickled my inner father instinct
Of course I saved them all

fucking two weapon carry limit
in a game where a girl can make fucking portal out of thin air
bull shit story because quantum physics lol
upgrades on guns didn't do jack shit
boss battles with no weight or not very exciting at all basically bullet sponges
i'm still mad

>Let me shake your han-Oh god I still had bees in that one, I'm so sorry, let me whack them-I still have my drill in my other hand, I'm sorry, I'll leave now, I'm sure the bleeding still stop soon

If you wander too close to a splicer during the little sister section they grab hold of you and their dreamlike state is broken for a bit, seeing the real world.

>it's a bomberman big daddy

That's pretty neat.

I threw the hypno plasmid at her, I believe. On purpose, I wanted to see what would happen.

She dies, and I was pissed.

What other games feed into my paternal instinct?

>Sinclair
>forgettable

Fuck right off.

Anyone else want to share their performance experiences with the remasters?

In BS1
>crash about every 2 hours
>game really slows down when I adjust the volume with my keyboard
>game really slows down when I open my map
>that one graphical glitch with the red square in the water
>bad mouse acceleration (ended up using a 360 controller)
>other than that, no major problems

BS2
>no sound when using my soundcard and ended up switching to mobo to get it to work
>crashed twice in an 11 hour playthrough
>no FOV options (had to deal with what I think was 60 FOV)
>other than that, no major problems

Haven't gotten to Minerva's Den yet

You are an upstanding citizen.

>parents always tell you you're due for big things
>never quite live up to expectations
>on a flight when it crashes, you're shocked to see you're alive
>make it down to an underwater city you didn't even know existed
>some man on a radio says you can help him save his family as well as the city
>suddenly feel purpose and that your parents were right all along

This is exactly something Cred Forums can relate to

I agree.
With .
You need to die.

I never solved that damn puzzle in Bioshock 2, pretty sure I'm retarded.

The Last of Us
First season of Telltale's The Walking Dead

Will you take care of my Little Sister if I perish in battle, Anonymous?
Please give her a good home

FE13

>checking out bioshock collection on twitch
>find girl named doll with massive naturals

Fuuuuuck I can't even pay attention to the game.

LISA. your adopted daughteru is missing in a world where every girl except for her has mysteriously vanished

link

Probably my favorite part of the game were the little gifts Eleanor leaves for you, usually she tells you about them in a scared voice but all of them always have a cute picture and teddy bear to go along with it. Its the little things that count

wtf

Bioshock 2 would have been top tier if it wasn't for the complete lack of a final master. The final fight was ass considering that Eleanor became Queen Latifah and I was overpowered as fuck. They really could have given us a final master.

I wanted them to tickle my outer father instinct

He is juat one of the many "journalists" that go with the crowd. Check his opnions on darksouls, how he shat on demon souls while it wasnt popular,, etc...

Doll, that's literally her screen name. Can't miss her, she's on right now. Boring as fuck but those things look delicious.

>The Last of Us

Those first 20 minutes will emotionally kick you in the nuts if you want a daughter-fu

Enslaved?

You deserve to be drilled

AM I THE ONLY NIGGA THAT THOUGHT THAT JAR OF FIREFLIES WAS A KEY ITEM AND GOT FRUSTRATED TRYING TO DO SHIT TO IT

>click launch
>Bioshock.exe has stopped working
uninstall.exe

nah thats bullshit, you are only linked to your one little sister and you see her different as the others

drills make everything better

>"Say goodnight, Gracie."
>Telekinesis the record player straight into her face

Not a single fuck was given.

They even managed to make Ryan more interesting. That audio recording where he talks about how he visited the theme park, and was disappointed that it was entirely educational and didn't have any "fun" things for kids to do, was far more humanizing than anything in Bioshock 1. In Bioshock 1, the characters exist as nothing more than embodiments of political ideologies. In Bioshock 2, the characters are actual human beings. It's quite a stark difference.

this, its just bullshit
>i never spoke with anyone other than a bird and my dad
>leave home and is dancing around with people she never saw before
fuck that retard girl and the retard director or writer or whatever that created her and thought this was fine , eleanor was much better.

damn those are some massive knockers

pure autism

Fair point

update DX11
not even joking
it fixed it for me
this is the update i applied (windows 7) support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/179113

>daddy's girlfriend

whoah those themes are too complex ken!

Right? My mouth will not stop watering right now.

stop shilling twitch whores

The other huge difference is that Bioshock 1 characterized character on a flow chart
>get tiny bit of power
>now you're a corrupt NTR villain who would whore his mom out
Bioshock 2 allowed some people to have a modicum of good and humanity in them

>Suddenly Cred Forums hates part 2 again and claims there are no good bioshock games.

what the hell is that

The final boss from 1 was the worst part though.

same
>hear little sister screaming
>use drill at extremely hihg speed and save her
daddy's mad and you'll be sorry!

One word:

>check the instagram

the fire plasmid on big daddy hand looks 10/10 holy shit, i had forgotten about that

I swear upon my honor as some random lonely jerk on the internet.

He just sits in the train car sending you off on collection missions and saying kid a lot. His audio tapes made up for it partially, but even the ending with him just felt empty. Felt like a knock off Fontaine.

AAAH!
HELP ME MR BUBBLES!

So Bioshock 2 is technically the end of the series, right?

Post link

>its true

HOLY FUCK

The lobotomy cutscene at the end was the only time a video game has made me physically ill to the point where I nearly puked my guts out.

It's rather impressive. Shame the rest of the game was Levine's assmad attempt to retcon BS2, torch the franchise and run.

>shoots poole feet
>he dies

!!!

It's on the channel page, just scroll down.

Well, if you want to be specific, minervas den.

not enough of a story

that's it really

Thank m8
I'll test it later

Delta would have either died early or not gotten anywhere without Sinclair. and then Sinclair saves your ass at the end. He was a shady bro at worst, but always a bro.

>spare grace
>never hear from her again aside from a gift

seriously, she could even have appeared in the last stand off as a remot controlled security bot and it would've been better to just hope you forgot about it

Nah.
A single creator does not create works that are consistently good nor consistently liked by their entire base.

Bioshock 2 was great, they built well on the original and added new themes and mechanics.
Gone Home was an attempt at an art-house game that was fairly heavy handed in its delivery and, for people who were already acquainted with works of art and narrative that involved homosexuality as a theme, unaffected by the trite ways they expressed that theme

Uhh, yeah, it was a good scene. I could even imagine elizabeth thinking that after the constock torture and all the shit she caused on rapture, lobotomisation or even death would be a good escape.

But while a good scene, certainly extremelly out of tone with the rest of the game, that while somewhat dark, not even close. Once again showed that even if ken can do something right, he still cant get the large picture to work.

Why were the physics in the original games such shit?

Really fucked up the game IMO, the Remasters feel like completely different games almost.

the little sisters of the dlc of bio infinite

locked at 30fps

I'm considering getting the remastered collection no Steam, are the games actually remastered? They look exactly the same in the screen shots. Also, is there still texture pop in?

>Not enough of an epic tweeeeest, you mean?

Bs2 sotry is self contained, there only one significative problem (shoehorned lamb into the game), and the overall character interaction was way better. Like, it actually made sense. Character were part of a large story and had contacts between them.

Cohhen in 1 was cool and all, but you see, there was no interaction. Take him out of the story, nothing changes. That isnt realistic storytelling.

>hear BAS is good
>its shit

everytime

they dont ever work look at the reviews

its literally the same game to get a quick buck from consolefags

They're 'remastered' but they have tons of technical issues right now.
They look sharper but there's texture pop-in and shit, give them a week.
Developer stuff is cool though

really? to me the remaster isnt as bad, but its still pretty bad

I kind of wish the chemical thrower in 2 returned.
Sure, level 3 plasmids had the same functionality, but it's just not the same.

Minervas den was an excellent dlc too bad the writers went ahead and shot themselves in the foot with gone home

The wiki says that they were made strong because they needed to be able to take on splicers. However,

"When the Alpha Series failed, it was discovered that previous Big Daddy models, namely the Bouncer and Rosie, could be used as suitable protectors. These models had been created before the Alpha Series, but their sole purpose was for the construction and repair of the city. The Bouncer and Rosie were much more suitable protectors as there already existed a large population of them, and they would be able to protect any Little Sister while still carrying out their original function."

Those drill dashes are the most satisfying.

>Anything in infinite
>Ever good

You o ly have hourself to blame.

Levine is a hack. I bet ss2 and bs1 had a lot of other people interfering to make the story work. When he gets full control on a game cause "well, he made ss2 and bs1, right?", the result is shit. Literally george lucas syndrome

>everything is better

fuck no

maps are all linear shit
gameplay is defend little sisters
story is mediocre

people who prefer 2 are contrarian faggots

Jordan Thomas. (The guy behind Fort Frolic and Cohen.)

He received so much negativity from the game he left the industry.

why did he receive so much negativity?
wasn't cohen fucking GOAT?

Also based on BioShock 1 dev commentary, where Levine talked about Cohen a bit, I don't think Jordan had anything to do with him.

Ah, this makes more sense.
They weren't designed for fighting but they were around and got the job done.
It actually fits in fine with Burial at Sea then.
>Alpha series failed to physiologically bond with Little Sisters
>Try to get it to work on Big Daddies of non-protection nature
>Burial at Sea part II

The masses are plebs

Fontaine pretty much brutalizes her the whole time. I'll give BaS that, it definitely made me dislike the guy a lot more than I did in BS1.

That said, Elizabeth's a fucking retard for dealing with him. It's been a while since I played it, but didn't Ryan offer her a fairly reasonable deal, that she outright rejects in favor of Fontaine?

>worked on thief and harry potter too

fucking hell man

>Melee does jack shit

What is the best plasmid?

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

Bees

...

telekinesis 3

...

Thomas was also the guy who mad thief 1.

Anyway, people went full "you are not levine, reeeeee" over bioshock 2 he left the scene.

It was the third person X Com game that made him not want to make videogames anymore. His studio was shut down and it was more to do with the 2K interference rather than the awful fan fall out.

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

Telekinesis and BEEEEEEEEES

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES and I like Security Command

You see, i played my first run without bees. However in the extra mode tbe survival one with the special rules, i was forced to only use bees and the rivet gun, i believe, and i saw the truth. Jesus fuck that was overpowered.

>Ken Levine basically described Elizabeth as his daughterfu
>even went so far as to discourage the internet to make porn of her
>Burial at Sea shows her getting beaten up, bloodied and nearly lobotomized
Ken is a full-on perv.

Does that mean Eleanor is actually an ugly piece of shit?

Don't you fucking talk about my daughter like that

FUCK YOU

It's not terrible, it just has some of the worst writing in an AAA video game, and generally mediocre gameplay. It has its moments though

DELET

Jordan Thomas got hounded and hated on so bad he left the industry. Who else would they have interviewed?

Levine is a hack

...

That final level one with the paintings? Yeah totally fucked me

>This fucking part
youtu.be/tFVjcOfGHyw?t=3m10s
I cry a little every time because of eleanor

well at least the games actually work on my PS4

She just wanted to be with her daddy. That was the worst divorce I've seen.

Jordan Thomas makes indie games now with his own really small company.

His first game was called The Magic Circle and the indie dev's name is Question Games. He just left Triple A after moving from the The Bureau team to help finish Bioshock Infinite. It burnt him out and he left 2K.

>Those first 20 minutes will emotionally kick you in the nuts if you want a daughter-fu
oh please, there's so many fucking movies, books, games, etc. that have done that tragic opening bullshit that nobody over the age of 5 should be affected by it anymore. It's been done to death.

>it got fucking deleted

>>oh please, there's so many fucking movies, books, games, etc. that have done that tragic opening bullshit
not with daughters

>make sweet ass Luger model
>only used in cutscene
>not at least used in multiplayer

Pretty much. Technically, the Alpha series didn't fail to bond, they bonded too much and were worthless in protecting more anyone after their Little Sister died

You don't talk shit about someone's daughter without consequences.

>people defending Bioshock 2

Honestly, fuck you all, Bioshock 2 is shit, Bioshock 1 was one my favorite games ever, you can't imagine how hyped I was for 2, I bought all the magazines talking about it, watched all the trailers and gameplay videos, you have no idea how dissapointed I was with this pile of shit, first of all it's way more linear than the first game, and fuck whoever says level design is good because that doesn't excuse the total lack of exploration, second the story is weak as fuck and Sofia Lamb was the worst villain in the series, she doesn't come close to Andrew Ryan. Leave to Cred Forums to have the most contrarian opinions ever for the sake of it, either that or kids who started with Bioshock 2.

>big daddies not important
>literally have to plan out each fight with a big daddy in order to win against them unless youre playing on baby mode

So is this old or new?

>Those first 20 minutes will emotionally kick you in the nuts if you want a daughter-fu
the opening was pretty generic, the opening is kind of shit since it focuses on the outbreak more than the actual characters to feel any emotional attachment

The echo...

gb2 2010 you piece of shit.

Same here

I could have seen the cover art and known instantly that the daughter was going to die.
Last Of Us was solid but I didnt have the huge emotional connection taht I did in Bioshock.
Part of it is that Joel is his own guy and so his reasons are his own, rather than a protagonist and situation made to bring out my own.
The other bit was that everything was scripted and laid out pretty far ahead of time. It was well acted, well written and well executed but...I dont know...it just didnt hit with me.
I mean even 356/2 days for Kingdom Hearts, despite still being scripted out a mile ahead of time with KH2 that Roxas was gonna meet a terrible fate, I had more connection to him and Xion and Axel than Joel and Ellie

>tfw played the multiplayer while playing motion city soundtrack songs on my 360's hard drive

It was fun. I'm assuming the collection is sans multiplayer?

Fuck off Undershitter

Can we agree that its the last -shock game in general?

thats because your seeing them as a big daddy

>playthrough bioshock 1 and never touch it again
>always remember for TOTAL TRASH the end escort and final boss of bioshock 1 is

>every now and then I get a twinge to reinstall bioshock 2 so I can rip and tear with the drill
>somehow they made escorting little sisters fairly interesting to do

2 just plays so much better than bioshock one ever did.

How are the Bioshock 1/2 remakes (steam version)?

I have played the original versions 2 or 3 times and was thinking of doing them again. Are there any gameplay improvemens/changes, different dialogue or anything, or is it purely visual?

You're baiting, right? I just want to make sure

There's technically changes to some models and textures, but it in no way justifies putting a price on it.
This is original B2

What

and here's the remaster.

...

Can I pla Minerva's Den without replaying BS2? Like is is it stand alone from the menu or is it an added quest in the game?

Wait, telekinesis and bees are good?
Fuck.
Guess i'll have to replay the game one day.

original one looks better

standalone

Telekinesis is by far tge strongest in 1 and bees are so fucking overpowered in 2 that you don't need any weapon or plasmids, just the bees

And any splicer that dies suffering bee status becomes a bee proximity mine for you to telekinetically lob at more splicers.

It will never not trigger me how many elements Infinite stole from 2.

>He's to disagree with Ryan
You what? The game intentionally throws tapes of Ryan when he's more off his rocker so you hate him until you meet him face to face, and then you realize Ryan wasn't so bad, he just lost his city and his mind because everyone else was fucking psychotic.

I don't understand how people can attempt to say that Ryan isn't built as a Walt Disney supervillain, when the game expressly does that to manipulate the player until the twist.

Lamb is fine, a C team studio made a game with better graphics and needed to introduce a new character because it'd b fucking dumb to have tenenbaum take over and become the villain or one of the 2 remaining characters you may or may not have killed taking over. All things considered Bioshock 2 is excellent

>finish up a Little Sister protector battle
>pick her up and go off somewhere
>sometime later hear a splicer shitting its pants
>it wandered into corpse bomb battlefield

It's the little things.

user! What are you talking about?!?!!!?
This is a REMASTER. It can possibly be lesser in quality! Why, ju...just look at this absolutely stunning screenshot...

Also keep in mind they fuck up a ton of the lighting and animations for shit. The intro to bioshock 1 looks better than the intro to the remaster after the plane crash. The sound in bioshock 2 remastered is also all over the place. To the point where I just play the original.

Tl;dr if you have bioshock on PC, just play the originals. The remasters are awful console cashgrabs

and compare it to this horrid, disgusting, screenshot from the unmaste...er wait, or was this the remastered one?

Bioshock 2 should've kept the origional plot where The Big Sister was the main villain

Standalone and only very vaguely, if at all connected to the main game. Though as I recall it happens alongside or shortly after the end of BS2.

Try playing Burial at Sea 1 (and especially 2). You will shit blood for what it does to the stories of BS1 and 2.

I like my women the way I like my coffee.

COVERED IN BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

>Andrew Ryan
>a villain

Now I know you're retarded. The guy was antagonistic, but he had his reasons. He also admits that despite you being a walking abomination he can't bring himself to hurt his own child.

Bees are dogshit in 1 but they're stupidly broken in 2.

They should have kept the original plot where Delta was Eleanor's biological father and Meltzer records audio diaries about seeing you running around saving Little Sisters.

he kills practically everyone else without a second thought. he killed julie langford simply for helping you not die.

Did they fix the fucking Mouse scroll in the first game?
That Mouse opt was the fucking worst in Bio1

One Big Sister who followed you throughout the game would have been more interesting. I remember Delta was Eleanor's biological father but it was through some weird test tube shit where they used his DNA.

The part about Meltzer making diaries about you is news to me, though.

I still prefer Bioshock 1. Playing as a Big Daddy didn't feel right to me and I didn't like the weapons.

>adjust mouse sensitivity so menus aren't molasses
>aiming and looking around in-game is nigh impossible
>adjust mouse so that you can actually play
>menus take a year to go through

I can't believe that was never patched.

he's right about 2 for the most part, but the fact that he considers Ryan the villain or even '''''a''''' villain says a lot about his "passion" for the series, or if he even actually finished the first one considering who the actual antagonist ended up being, and that's putting it politely

honestly sort of sounds like one of the kids he's talking about, started with 2, went back to 1 and didn't actually finish it but is being contrarian toward the Cred Forums opinion because he wants to seem cool

just don't see how he could complete the game and come away thinking SWEAT OF HIS BROW was the big bad, but then i've seen far more retarded beliefs being promoted around here, so who the fuck knows

how do you think Jack reacted to killing his own father?

Bioshock 1 was memorable.
Bioshock 2 was a let-down.
Bioshock Infinite was just plain boring.

I don't know what the hell you're talking about.

>Pretty damn close, EG. Deep background on the character is that he used a saturation chamber ahead of his time, to reach those depths - and that he was investigating the string of ship and submarine disappearances known to have occurred in the area. Sort of a pre-Meltzer figure of sorts. Originally we planned to have Meltzer tracking the player's investigative trail, realizing he was a kindred spirit, but it got convoluted so we kept it more open.

>Whether he was looking to scavenge or rescue, or merely to inform ... we leave up to the player.

He kills very few people, especially compared to Fontaine and even Jack. Ryan had been whittled down into a state of intense paranoia, and while his assertion that you were a spy was incorrect, Jack was still a weapon sent to exploit the system and destroy everything Ryan had built. He was just protecting all that he had built. He at least saw Jack as his son despite knowing him only as an embryo that was sold a few years ago.

I think people just assume that the mean person is the bad guy because they say mean things.

Ryan was a tragic, flawed person who was driven to extremes to protect his vision of utopia. Maybe he didn't do the right things, but that doesn't make him a villain.

Dont forget about the pipe game and how fucking horrible it was

>fuck we're high
>let's drink some Adam

>Most of the people in this thread played bioshock as their first shock game

Fuck, that would've been better than having to kill the poor son of a bitch. Those asshole developers broke my heart. Also what the FUCK is up with the Little Sisters in Burial at Sea? I don't plan on ever playing it after Infinite but everything I see about it looks terrible.

agree 100%

most of his decisions and the reasons he makes them are based around him trying to shield all that he built from being brought down by the actual villain, both before and after the player's arrival, can't imagine very many people achieving the same degree of success (literally creating a utopia at the bottom of the fucking ocean) who wouldn't go to similar extremes with similar reasoning

it's doubled over too, particularly when you compare him to some of the other characters, even on the side, some of whom absolutely reveled in the fucked up shit they were doing

These are early little sisters fom the orphanage that ryan took from fontaine
They are being experienced by doc.hink.

I just killed all these girls when I played Biocock 1 why would you save them? It's so pointless you get no items

They didn't, that's how. The level design is much more straight forward and less interesting. There was no sense of fear in the early game, or at any point, due to how over powered you are. You literally can't die unless you're fuckin autistic since you always have a split second to heal once HP is at 1.

They improved the gameplay, and it is fun, but all around inferior to the first BS.

You get the control big daddy plasmid and some tonics

Oh man, I forgot about Suchong. Seeing that fucker's corpse was a laugh and a half.

>be Big Daddy
>somehow take more damage than a guy jacked up on ADAM

Burial at Sea took a giant shit on the plots of 1 and 2 in order to make Elizabeth the center of the universe.

Andrew Ryan fawns over how amazing she is and tries to give her a job.
Remember Suchong dying to create a link between the Big Daddies and Little Sisters, and it being implied that Delta was the one who killed him? Nope, it was Elizabeth showing Little Sisters how to heal a Big Daddy which in turn made all Big Daddies want to protect them because "lion with thorn in the paw" syndrome (also, that's why Songbird protected her, before Comstock forced it to crash into her tower one day)
Elizabeth talks Booker into locking a Little Sister into some vents and turning a furnace on, despite his clear objection to the idea -- then lords over him and reveals it was all a ploy to get the Big Daddy to murder him.
Also, Elizabeth was wrong and murdering YOUR Booker didn't kill all the Bookers.
And finally, Elizabeth gives Fontaine the WYK code phrase all because she had a multiverse prophecy about Jack, who doesn't look like some greasy Italian anymore.

I think it was a pun.

They look the same in the end and multi, and they still look like ayy when human in the other games

Who cares I just killed the big daddy's too

Right as things start openly going to hell. They're using paint to pretend they aren't making monsters and everything is fine.

can't tell if edgelord or serial killer

Wow. Levine's a fucking hack. I don't remember Delta being implied to have been that original Big Daddy in that audio diary but I haven't played the games in fucking years so what do I know.

I don't think so. Little Sisters are conditioned to see the world a certain way. Big Daddies need to see reality in order to properly assess threats.

Also, post favorite audio logs.

>A Gift from Billy
>Right next to a dead Big Daddy

Are the Bioshock games the best dad simulators?

>design jack to grow up into a physically fit 20 year old man rapidly
>make him look like a balding 40 year old man

what the absolute fuck went wrong levine

how did he turn into a hack fraud in just 7 years?

It's a very loose implication because it spans across both games. Delta was the first Big Daddy to be successfully bonded to a single Little Sister, and Suchong was killed with a drill.

Burial at Sea 2 doesn't even have a single mention of the Alpha series, despite their being preliminaries to bouncers and rosies.

I dunno but they're definitely my favorite ones.

>Roast the marshmallows, Daddy!

They're too cute.

in the first game you can clearly tell that the drill in his corpse was attached to a bouncer

And all of the 'human' characters use recolored splicer models, aside from Ryan and Cohen.

Did anyone ever read the 'ending' some fan pitched in Bioshock 1? Where it ended with Fontaine stuck endlessly getting revived in a Vita chamber at the bottom of the sea, drowning and getting reanimated only to drown again? Pretty fucked up stuff but I'll admit, I would have preferred something like that to the boss fight we got.

i thought the one that killed suchong was the one that bursts out of the wall in the proving grounds

I liked that ghost thingy, was fun seeing retards attacking decoy while getting raped from behind

>you get no items

Seeing as you're too stupid to know.

You get MORE adam if you save them. You still get adam from saving them, and with every few you get a package that has a ton of ammo, adam, and a plasmid.

Killing the little sisters is simply the chaotic stupid choice since you do nothing but gimp your own adam gains.

I'm not the only one who thinks Bioshock1 is kind of overrated right?

Or maybe I just haven't heard the right take on the twist and ending. But like I don't understand what was so jaw dripping and mind blowing about it.

As for the game itself, it's kind of a generic shooter honestly. Like it does nothing particularly standoutish.

>I'm not the only one who thinks Bioshock1 is kind of overrated right?
No, nobody here has ever said that before. You're the first.

This was a pretty good thread. I hope to talk more about being kickass fathers with you assholes again.
