This game is absolute fucking garbage in absolutely everything.

The characters are unlikable, the character designs are fucking atrocious, the story is a joke, the battle system was designed by complete retards, the soundtrack bores me to no end and the voice acting is awful.

And yes, I've played vanilla and the Zodiac version and they are both equally terrible.

Akihiko Yoshida is generally a pretty boring character designer.

All of his character designs have sameface syndrome and most of the time look like infants.

The style in which he draws also irks me for some reason. Like the way Nomura draws all of his designs in that terrible Kingdom Hearts style.

I'll be honest.
I hated this game, on the principles that it was just boring as hell. For some reason it bores me way faster than any of the older games can even attempt to despite the combat being more dynamic, maybe because I don't really feel immersed in the story or world either.

Maybe the Zodiac re-balance shit could straighten the combat up a bit, but after FFX this game was kind of a large disappointment to me.

Instead of having one License Board that everyone shares, there are 12, each themed after a different classic FF Job and shaped like a Zodiac sign. You get to pick which board you want each character to go down but you can't change Jobs once you've made the selection.

There's also a bunch of minor improvements, like being able to control guest members and different chest contents, as well as the new Trial mode (a 100-floor gauntlet against increasingly strong enemies), "Strong Mode" that lets you play through the game with all your characters boosted to level 90, and "Weak Mode" that keeps all your characters at the lowest level.

Already played ZJS. Changes make the game too easy and the class system (it's not even a job system!) is crap. Not a huge fan. People who can't into patching and softmodding: you're missing nothing. And those who can: don't buy an inferior game that you can patch and play for free.

That's not even the problem. He's pretty much completely irrelevant. I read Ashe was supposed to be the MC and Vaan and Penelo were added later, because "muh female MC doesn't sell" meme.

As soon as I got 4 characters in my party, I stopped using Vaan. Near the end I was pretty scared that there might be a point where you have to use him. He was around level 12-15, so I'd be fucked.

Also, I'm mad, because I've finished the game last year for the first time. Should've waited for this.

Not that user, but I assume what he's talking about is the spell queue. In the original FF12, only one large scale spell/ability could be happening at a time, likely due to hardware constraints, so if multiple spells were charged simultaneously you'd be stuck waiting for them all to finish one at a time, which sucked ass and could get you killed if your Curaga was placed at the back of the queue. In TZA, they seem to be removing this limitation, which should make the gameplay a lot more fluid and dynamic.

It's funny how XII has the coolest character designs and the dumbest designs as well.

I never played IZJS, but in principle, I absolutely HATE job systems and liked the license board, which is why.

As long as that isn't terribly limiting, I'm looking forward to it, since vanilla was my favorite FF.

It really does not sound that way to me. Those voices are lacking in audio quality, even without that nasty staticy sound they has on the PS2.

There were methods to override the spell queue however and 'get' your Curaga to the front.

May as well play it, it's still good. Don't need to complete it or anything, and you'll appreciate the changes in zodiac edition better (as well as understanding the game system a bit which will help you pick classes for the characters and stuff)

It's even better emulated on PC because you can upscale the character models.

I'm just glad they working on a respec option so you're not locked into the one job for each character.

Wow, So many things wrong with this post.

1st. Vaan was the first character to be drawn, though the last to be assigned playable. His name was Aqua back then.
2. The "Original" protagonist was meant to be Basch, and the story presented to test audiences didn't test well, so they scraped it
3. Vaan is very important to the plot, even if he isn't the main character. You're allowed to not like a character, but don't make shit up because you weren't paying attention to the plot.
