That was a pretty decent snapshot of the gears of war franchise. stale. boring, and people only giving the slightest fuck because microsoft has literally suicided all their flagship franchises. But then that brings us to the gameplay, because deep down thats why people play games, for the gameplay, not aesthetics. Gears hasnt innovated much, if at all, since inception but is that a bad thing? If it isnt broken, dont fix it, you know.

In contrast, Halo forced innovation where it did not need to belong. Dual-wielding ruined weapon balance, equipement wasnt so bad, but also uncecessary, Armor Abilities ruined the series, and the redone Spartan Abilites still dont really belong. Because those mechanics affect more than movement, they also affect maps and balance.

Halo 5 has highest aim assist in the series and bullet magnetism to boot because Spartans are now so mobile, maps are much larger to compensate and allow use of abilities since Reach, and they dont allow for fun maps like Boarding Action or Rat Race, everything has to be Midship-like in design.
