SOUP?

Anyone have a guide to finding all the Haven monsters?

Stuck on the guy who used to be a pot

>finally unlock classes
>deadlocked on what choices to make
>don't want to make a choice that will fuck over the next 80 hours
>stop playing

I would if Amazon did not fuck up my order. Guess I'll be playing the Jap version and brushing up on the language in the meantime.

For those who grinded vocations on slimes, what level were you when you started?

but can't you just change classes, user? granted I only played the ps1 version

I've beat this game twice and it still makes me upset when Kiefer leaves

Yes, you can change classes (provided you aren't stuck in an area where story reasons block you from going back to the shrine). I'm mostly just worried because when playing the PS1 game, I went down the only bad paths (Pirate and Herder) and fucked my characters up for 40 hours.

all the classes have been rebalanced just do whatever you want

I don't think Pirate (Sailor) or Header leads to a second class still. But I'm trying to find a list online that will tell the requirements for tier 2 and 3.

Requesting from last thread. Not the same guy but I'd like to know for personal reasons.

i like it, just got to classes this morning so im takin a break from grinding slimes

18, 18, and ruff was 17.
3 classes for each i ended with 18 19 18

>Dragon Quest Builders
is it really just minecraft?

mosou reskins im fine with but a minecraft reskin sounds awful

Builders focuses more on story and is a lot more structured, you can actually beat the game instead of just fucking around forever like in MC.

oh fuck I though Slaughtomaton was supposed to be the unbeatable boss everyone keeps talking about

I've been beating ass all over and now I gotta grind three more levels to stand against this fucker

Kek. You got like 4 morei zones to an unbeatable boss

>no one posting in this thread because they're all too busy arguing over Dragon Quest VIII music

Sounds about right. Imagine the shit storm if the voices get changed for the western release.

Mine still haven't arrived.. I bought a 3DS just to play DQ7 and 8.

Now I'm considering buying a Vita just to be able to play Builders

I'm going to have paladin and warrior before i even go past not-egypt zone.

Yangus's va said he had a job he was doing for square after Dragon Quest heroes.

Jessica's va may change because she didn't work on heroes so that means she might not do DQ VIII

I hope they don't change Angelo.

They have to do new vo recordings because fo the new scenes and dialogue added

Buy a PS4 and play builders with better resolution. As well as having a console to play Dragon Quest XI. And maybe X as well hahaha yeah right

So is monster tamer a good class at all? I'm not sure what to make gabo.

I already made him a sage... gotta feed him more seeds of magic

...

>I bought a 3DS just to play DQ7 and 8

I'm really curious. Why would you do this?

Are banks shared?

I have some unfortunate news about your son my liege.

Not him, but I bought a 3DS primarily for DQ games as well. And back then, the only game worth playing was DOA: Dimensions. It got good games later on, but I bought it at launch expecting DQMonsters, Rocket Slime 3 and VII.

>fighting boss
>guest character lands a crit

i'm not gonna play Dragon Quest 7 until i start and beat 6
and i'm in the middle of replaying SMT4 to get neutral ending for Final
so i guess the question is, play Final or 6 first

I really like the series and I loved DQ8

What's the locked content on IX?

Also what are the chances Builders gets a PC release?

final's story picks up right after the forest of white on neutral route, yo really don't even need to play it. the save bonuses are nowhere near worth it either.

i'm already at the on 3rd Tokyo, and i still love 4 so i don't mind finishing it. plus i'm doing New game + so i'm really speeding through it
most of my time is being wasted on fusing demons honestly

The locked content is ether DLC or can only be acsesed though the internet but since the servers are ded you have to hack your way in

maybe since Heroes got a surprise PC release but i wouldn't count on it.

Guys, I think they changed the music in dq builders...

Just finished Greenthumb Garden, in the grotto now and I swear Ruff just went from 8 to 10 before Hero leveled.

i doubt it anytime soon
but i imagine Builders is an experimental game for SE right now
they just wanted to see if a builder game that's more focused on an RPG can work, so they cut any chances of multiplayer to focus on the RPG aspects
i'd hope a sequel will add more customization, magic, and multiplayer

Dragon Quest Builders (JP) Vitamin Dump for VITA

mega.nz/#F!OMsy3Aya!_SPj313nlriJeeQ990E8Hg

Where did the faggot go? I tried to look every houses in the village and I can't find the guy that people are trying to celebrate.

He's in the NorthWest corner

Is the class tree still the same in this version?

All the events happen outside of the herb garden on the other side of town.

Ruff for me went from taking an eternity to get to level 8, to levels 9-13 coming before everyone else got another level. Shit is bananas.

Yeah, he just literally leveled to 11. I think at this point the game assumes you don't have Kiefer anymore.

>level 17 Fluid Druid Maribel
>that princess attire

>playing DQVII while watching Gaki no Tsukai batsu games with plenty of snacks and drinks

Well, is it?

Hero: Cleric > Fighter > Warrior > Paladin > Dragoon > Godhand > Hero

Maribel: Mage > Cleric > Sage > Bard > Dancer > Jester > Teen Idol > Summoner > Hero

Aishe: Warrior > Bard > Jester > Teen Idol > Fighter > Dragoon > Cleric > Paladin > Hero

Ruff: Thief > Shepherd > Tamer > Mariner > Pirate > Warrior > Mage > Ranger > Hero

I don't care about Mervin

Am I doing this right? Is this decent?

Are the Pilchard crackers used for something important? found them in a tablet and it played music

...

Oh shit, got a Cannibox in my Monster Meadows.

>pilchard

Seriously. Cant even google this, no one knows

Continue with the story. You'll know the town with the fucking huge pot when you see it.

how do you find the mermaid moon to get the flying carpet

Where are the mini medals

I had one of those, then I wiped like an idiot, didn't want to lose my money, and reset.

>I wouldn't stand a chance against monsters in my current state
>he's a martial artist

Ballymore Inn. 2nd floor.

>Pre order through Amazon
>First told will arrive on Monday
That's fine I'll finish up Etrian Odys-
>Shipping error
>Won't get it until Wednesday at the earliest

I'm a little jealous of you anons. I hope y'all are having fun

I always try and get into DQ but can never finish a game. I always lose stamina. How is the 3DS Port? I like that you can see enemies now.

file is no longer available

No one's posting in this thread because there's no title and the image is not DQVII related.

>thief skills use magic
>summoning lightning from the heavens and blasts of windcutters does not

How bad did they fuck up the name of mai hasubando, Sharkeye?

At least it gives you a reason to actually use Ruff's MP

I decided not to grind classes, almost got our first jobs maxed out, I'm (probably) most of the way done the desert area right now.

I'm about to get 3 heroes before level 18. This playthrough is going to be crazy.

>X

Fuck you mane.

So looking at the charts there's no reason to delay going hero for Champion? Hero looks to get everything.

>playing the Japanese version
>some orchestrated tracks seem shorter than they were on the PS1 before looping
is it just me or its that why it was changed for the US release?

...

Any of you foreigners playing in other languages?
I already heard that both Keifer and maribel's names were changed to something else entirely.

That is one theory for the reason. No one really knows however.

I booted it up in spanish just to check
Keifer was the same but Maribel became Mariel
I don't know about the rest as I flipped it back to english because I don't like european spanish that much

Can I get some VII fanart from the good anons here? I really enjoy it's character and feel like searching for good art is near impossible. I don't mean to shit on it but I hate how VIII has millions of pics and if you try searching for VII you find jack shit.

>Reach covenant
>See Carraway's and Lavender's graves

Well, that was bittersweet.

I've only got Maribel stuff.

Sorry man. All I have is Maribest.

why is maribel so erotic

...

The fuck?
Someone else said it was this shit.

"In spanish is worse.
Kiefer is called Cleomenes.
Maribel is called Gorgo..."

Maybe it's different per spanish region?

I honestly don't really care about Builders. Kinda sucks 8 was delayed until next year.

Didn't Maribel's Spanish name become something weird like Gargo?

>redhead
>tsundere
>dresses like a Quaker but is sultry
>thirsty for the only D she knows
>wants to adventure after a sheltered childhood
>knows she's better than everyone

>"In spanish is worse.
>Kiefer is called Cleomenes.
>Maribel is called Gorgo..."
actually that was from the spanish version of DQ9, they're Keifer and Mariel now

That's a stupid fucking name even with the silent g rule.

DQ women are great.

>tfw Wiggles
He will be missed

Damn it. Don't get me wrong I love lewd as much as the next guy but just some cool art would be welcomed. It feels so rare.

Is Maribel ticklish?

>actually that was from the spanish version of DQ9
Fucking hell, talk about a dodged bullet.
Still, I heard name changes happen even in other languages like french for no reason.

Sorry mate. I'll try to keep the lewd low.

Just look up Dragon Quest VII on pixiv or gelbooru.

I haven't checked the other languages mostly because of lack of interest, but you got me curious now

Gelbooru is basically maribel porn, which is nice but not what I'm looking for.

>Search VII on pixiv
>80% of the results is related to VIII

You weren't kidding.

...

Terry is named Norris in one other language.
Not sure how many games (such as DQ9) have that change though.

>game with the most confusing story and detailed class system
>only game without a strategy guide

Geez. Even the Game Boy Color games got strategy guides. SquareEnix has absolutely no faith in Dragon Quest in the west.

Does anyone even do Strat guides in the west anymore?
Not even monhun gets them.

You want to shove your dick in her face to shut her up for five minutes
And she'll enjoy it

I bought the hardcover XCX guide, still wrapped. I've seen some for DOOM and Fallout 4.

>DQ VII and VIII on 3DS
>DQ Builders and XI on PS4
>America keeps getting DQ games
>Gundam Breaker 3, G Gen Genesis, Gundam Vs on PS4
>Gundam games keep getting English Asia releases
>good or bad FFXV is finally coming out after a decade of development shenanigans
>Xenoverse 2 and Fusions ramping up the quality in DBZ games
>whether you like Super or not DBZ in general seeing a renaissance of popularity and attention thanks to it and the movies
It's a good time to be a weeb.

I only use them for games like this where you need to plan out skill trees far in advance. I also just buy strategy guides for all DQ games just for collection sake. But no other series.

>DOOM and Fallout 4 guides exist
What a waste of paper

I can understand Fallout 4. Cred Forums memehates over it all the time but it's still a big fat WRPG.

But DOOM? Even if you want all the secret shit you can find it all with minimal effort by upgrading your suit's item-finding ability. The levers are THE only thing the map won't show you and even then you can see where they all are with maybe 5-10 minutes of Youtube.

Unless the guide is like 80% snap map, then I can understand, I guess.

I don't buy censored games.

What the fuck do I do with Monster Hearts?

>DQVII
>censored
Just admit you're a poorfag.

What if the Regenstein you visit is actually from the future and the present monster people from Haven actually evolve into raindancing germans

Help

Just play slots until you make bank. Never fails. Going through dq 6 atm and scored 578000 tokens

True Dragon Quest fans moved to PlayStation back in 2000 (along with just about every gamer lol)

What DQ we got on PS4
>DQ Builders
>DQ Heroes
>DQ Heroes 2
>DQ XI (the definitive version)
>All in 1080p (4K coming soon) 60fps

DQ "games" Nintenshits got on 3dshit
>Downgraded censored VIII
>Cut content "localized" VII
>Shitty Monster remakes that no one wants
>Shitty weeaboo rhythm game no one wants
>all 240p in 2016

It's absolutely clear where the real gamers, and the true DQ fans stand. Keep your Nintenshit away from us.

I just unlocked alltrades abbey and Ive been farming the slime dungeon since then.

Shit is really boring. I kinda want to progress with the story but I really want to at least make the MC a hero first.

Just play normally dude. If you grind out jobs that hard you're just gonna make the rest of the game super easy.

>I really want to at least make the MC a hero first.

What are the requirements to be a Hero? I thought you needed a late game item.

You realize you still have 80 more hours to go right? You're not gonna get to hero by hunting slimes.

>copypasted from other thread
sasuga shitposter

Sorry this is my first dq game but I thought it would be fine since my level is pretty much the same as before?

You have to master 3 intermediate class or two intermediate class and one advanced class. Im making mine gladiator, paladin, then champion, then hero.

I dont know dude I fucking love grinding. Im a huge disgaea fan.

Nice bait.

You're going to have abilities intended for endgame barely a quarter of the way through the game. Plus the better stat boosts of the advanced classes. Regardless of your level that shit's gonna be busted. DQ doesn't work anything like Disgaea.

You can grind if you really want but it's seriously not necessary in the slightest.

Unlocked classes and have no idea what do. Lol

Very likely, SE loves to port their games to PC down the line.

Alright thanks user.

Has anyone played Dragon Quest V? How does it compare to Dragon Quest IV?

DQIV was amazing on smartphone so I'm considering doing that again for DQV

Most people agree that V is one of the best, if not the best, Dragon Quest game. Not sure about the smartphone version but I guess it works if you don't have a DS.

How many hours in before I get Aishe? Or that old coot?

Sounds good!
The smartphone versions are pretty cleverly made ports, since they are played in vertical view and are designed to be played with 1 hand. I played DQIV last year and it was really quick and easy to pop it out in the bus or train and get some levels.

LOL just pick some classes that looks cool lol xD

Phenomenal. Its best on ds though because fuck phone controls. But yeah its amazing and even better than IV. One of the top DQs to me along with 3 and 6. Bianca is best wife by the way.

...

Deborah is definitely a close second. Nera is boring "muh pure maiden" shit.

>Has anyone played Dragon Quest V?
Nope. No one ever has.

>How does it compare to Dragon Quest IV?
Its not really comparable. Its just as story focused as IV, but with a completely different kind of story. And you collect monsters and many other things you can't do in IV.

>DQIV was amazing on smartphone so I'm considering doing that again for DQV
You can do what you want, but I wouldn't suggest smartphone for anything but IV.

Things I don't like:
Saving in church
Can't see how much experience needed for next level
The beginning is a drag
Have to transfer items to the member in order for them to equip instead of just from the bag
You can't select which specific enemy to fight, only the group
Needs a run faster button
Camera is too slow to move, can't use c stick on New 3DS

Things I like:
Items in drawers, cabinets and barrels
Old school rpg
Graphics are pretty ok
Story is pretty good
Akira toriyama

>Camera is too slow to move
Set Camera to Type 2 in the options

Dragon Quest thread?

Been playing this for a while, and I love/hate it so hard. It's got charm and amazing graphics out the wazoo but at the end of the day I'm pressing Square button again and again like in all other musou games.

You do realize that you are on Cred Forums and not /vg/ right?
Stop making generals here.

>Saving in church
I never understood this complaint, especially on handhelds. You're not supposed to save as a precaution against dying since the intended consequence of dying the gold loss. The only time you need to save is when you're shutting the game down, which on a handheld you don't need to turn the game off if you want to stop playing for the day because the sleep function exists. Also, it's not as if churches aren't always just an Escape/Wing/Return away.

It gets better when you get party members that don't suck and you're switching between em a lot to abuse all their shit

Jessica + Yangus + Bianca is OP as fuck

I mean if you're grinding then you have to go back and forth
What happens when you get really far and you want to save and you don't want to stop playing?
Then you have to back track

Thanks, I will
I haven't gotten too far, about 2 hours

>fight against a boss
>doing relatively okay, thanks to multiheal don't have to be worried about multihit magic attacks
>damage could be better, even with oomph only did 100dmg at most

might take a while, but I can't see myself dying

>fight stops midway through for story event
>damage now up to 350dmg, enemy now susceptible to status spells like sleep

what a letdown

DQ is pretty fucking generous with save points.

3D slider on or off?
Type 1 or 2 camera?

>What happens when you get really far and you want to save and you don't want to stop playing?

You use the zoom spell to go back to any town, then save. If you're in a dungeon, you use the evac spell. In really tough areas, they'll put a random priest in a dungeon or a small house for you to talk to. Hell, there's one right in Rhone in Dragon Quest II. What most people consider to be the hardest part of any DQ game, you have a house specifically just to have a save point.

I'm used to saving wherever I want
But it's really just a nuisance, like it doesn't have to be such a chore to save but it is

the game's 3d ain't bad, I must say
option in the setting is reversed though, weak 3d is actually strong, and strong 3d setting is weak

type 1 camera has acceleration and needs a second to go fullspeed
type 2 camera has only one speed: very fast

generous compared to what? other games let you straight up save on the world map or have a save point in the beginning of a dungeon or something

Where can I get the lock pick? I saw it once but I forget where. :(

you might want to give the mobile ports a try
DQ8, at the very least, has autosaves after each fight as well as quick saves

>finally get past the desert island (that's where I dropped the game on PS1)
>go there int he present
>they welcome you as literal living legends

It seems your party told them about how they are time travelers. Looks like Maribel's wish of becoming a legend finally came true. This is was a very nice surprise.

That might be the only DQ that does that. The only others that save that much have quick saves. I think DQ3 GBC was the first DQ game to have quick saves. Maybe 1+2 GBC had it too. Did the SNES remakes have quick saves?

And almost any of those games make you lose all your progress if you die. Play a FF game and go all the way thorough a 2 hour dungeon, then die at the final boss. Know what happens? You just get sent to the title screen and reload your save from 2 hours ago, losing all the items, EXP and progress you had up to that point. Die in a Dragon Quest game? You lose half your gold, but retain all your items and EXP while you revive at a church. No annoying title screen. Don't have to run through the whole dungeon again. You don't lose the levels you gained. Etc.

Can anyone help me with the "art tower" puzzle in the present?
You know, the 4 rotating statues.

Where do you live?

w-what?

IV is superior on the phone only because it have party chat.

So apparently once you miss the Thief's Key you're fucked?

GOD DAMN IT I HATE SHIT LIKE THAT.

Which is what I said.

I brainfarted and thought you meant sending it to you (like Street pass)

Pretty sure you'll be able to go back down to the 'jail' since it has a tablet. Can't really progress without getting that tablet.

>party members can no longer talk in battle

-10\10

what did they even used to say?

This is my first DQ game and I don't want to fuck up

Are there any important things I can miss early on and never get again or until later?
I noticed a bunch of locked doors with chests on the other side, I neeeeeeed them

Which tablet? >_>

Like other DQ games, you get a thief's key and an ultimate key later on. You can probably guess what they do.

The one in the gold bank that the lady won't let you pick up because she's 'holding it for someone'.

Most other RPGs of the era had you lose all progress if you died.

Hell didn't FF still do that all the way through the PS1 days at the very least? And don't even get me started on FF3's final dungeon holy shit that place is fucking long as hell, brutally difficult, and there's no save points inside.

Unlock all locked chests? Of unlock anything?

This and the fairy dude managing all the tablets are my only issues with the remake

Thief keys unlock basic doors that are locked but the ultimate key can unlock any door. Specifically you get it to unlock iron doors like the ones you see in prisons.

No more permanent lock outs like the PS1 version go ham, senpai

Thief's key unlocks iron gates and red chests. Ultimate key unlocks blue/red doors and blue chests.

Anyone?
Ive been trying to do this puzzle for an hour.

You pirate pieces of shit took it too far this time
>tfw will never see another Dragon Quest game localized ever again thanks to entitled pirating scum

time to ramp up the moonrune studies

So is it actually possible to max out every character in every class?

really dude?
the statues all have to face each other
I brute forced my way through in less than a minute

>gotten not one but three Yggrasil leaves in the area leading up to Dharma
They must think I'm gonna die a lot.

yeah but it's a major commitment, especially since I think there are like 50 classes if you include the monster ones.

>the statues all have to face each other
Nope, already did that.
Did not work.

Can you explain this?
Is this some sort of numerical order

I dont really like the class system, the fact that advanced class skills dont transfer over is a terrible change.
That and the whole thing where the classes are only a modifier toward a characters normal stats and has no effect on the equipment they can use.

DQ VII makes me want to play the DS ports afterwards. But they're hard as fuck to find copies of that don't cost a bundle, and I don't want to pirate.

You can get Dragon Quest V new on SquareEnix website. The other two, you'll probably just need to buy used on amazon or ebay. Or some stores still sell them. I've seen them at gamestop.

...

Dude just fucking emulate them. No one at Squeenix is going to give a fuck about the sales a nearly 10 year old game and buying used games is pointless unless you specifically care about having a physical copy.

Why does Trunks have tits?

How is Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie?

>advanced class skills dont transfer over is a terrible change.
Do you mind explaining this for me in detail? I never played the original enough to get to advanced classes and their skills. How do skills work in this game?

Dragon Quest VII is basically an improved version of Dragon Quest VI. Its still worth playing, but often overlooked since other games improved on it.

After playing this remake of DQVII, I'd say Dragon Quest VI is harder. So if you like more difficulty or dual world mechanics, its right up your alley.

Where can I find the moon artifact? The french maod wants it to trade for the real flying carpet.

Oh wait this gamefaqs.com/boards/688276-dragon-quest-vii-fragments-of-the-forgotten-past/64496730 cleared it up for me. This change is bullshit. The way I was going to do classes was going banking on the characters using the skills they learned from other classes. This change sucks.

Can't you just change to whatever class you need? I mean. it's annoying, but it doesn't break the game or anything.

Yeah, seems best just to beeline straight to Hero and Godhand.
Monster classes also give out permanent skills, but finding the hearts might be annoying.

Being able to make characters that can do everything is pretty boring.

How the fuck do you even switch to monster classes? I have a few hearts but no idea what to do with them.

Put the hearts in the characters inventory, ya dummy

I tried that, they still don't do anything when you use them.

>Can't see how much experience needed for next level
You can see it through priest in the church. Pick divination or something.

Oh, I didnt think you would need it spelled out for you to this level.

Put it in the characters inventory, then go to Alltrades, and change class to slime or whatever.

>I-I don't want to disappear, Hero... Will you promise to hold me, and never let me go?
Maribel is starting to show more and more that she wants my dick.

She starts letting it slip like 20 minutes into the game, it's all downhill from there.

Yeah that seems like the best plan. Hero and Champion (Godhand) get some serious skills in this game.

Dragon Quest is like Ultima of Japan?

No, DQ isnt dead

>10 hours in
>literally zero difficulty so far
I mean literally. It was physically impossible to get a game over.

Is this game getting engaging beyond attack spamming at any point?

It was inspired by Ultima, so yeah kinda.

The difficulty starts to ramp up once you get to Alltrades Abbey in the past.

Yeah the mage class, summoner or whatever doesnt seem to get heals.
And in my experience, DQ mages always kind of suck outside of buffs debuffs.

Remember to buy the fucking game if you want to see more localization.

If you don't have the money, get a job.

Yeah it's Druid in this version.
usgamer.net/articles/dragon-quest-7-3ds-druid-guide-spells-abilities-stats-and-more
Does this change to how classes work mean that you won't be able to use the spells you learn as a Cleric and Sage as a Druid? If so then that really gimps the class imo. You'll be relying on a Hero or a Champion for healing late game. This doesn't sound to great imo.

Man. I haven't had this much fun with a game in years.
Kinda sad that we probably won't get more mainline DQ games after VIII though.
We can all agree that this is GOTY, right?

One of the best games in the series. You might not here that from many but it us by far the most underrated dragon quest.

Why every location is sadder than the last?

Depressive game

O-ok

Base class skills do transfer over, so cleric skills are going to be there on druid.
Monster skills also transfer, so maybe something like a healslime would supplement druid.

>remember to buy the game guys!
>Amazon is sold out and won't ship the game again for months
I think this game is doing fine

I don't think it's a huge deal honestly. All skills/spells learned from base classes carry over, and you also keep whatever you learn from monster classes (and there's 30 monster classes to use).

Just double checked healslimes skill list, and I think I will just go with that. Seems to get mid heal, full heal, and multi heal.
I dont want everyone to be the same class.

What the hell am I supposed to do in Grondal? I've gone everywhere and talked to everyone and the plot doesn't want to progress.

I don't know user. Dead Rising 4 is looking pretty good and Doom and Kirby: Planet Robobot were both really good. The new Pacman CE game is looking really good too. I was going to put MHG in there, but to be honest I feel the game is lacking a bit and I did put it down for DQ7. I have no idea what my GOTY will be, but DQ7 is definitely going to be in the top 5 up there with Doom and Kirby.

Ah OK. Since base skills transfer over then I think I'll manage. I was hoping to make a Hero with some Pirate skills and a Hero with some Monster Masher skills, but I'll settle with what I got now. Plus with monster classes I can still customize each Hero or Champion to my desire.

I love that Wii game. Pretty fun and music is great. Wish it could be brought back with traditional dq gameplay.

>I don't know user. Dead Rising 4 is looking pretty good
What?

I had more fun with Atelier Sophie, but thats because I played the PS1 version of DQ7 twice already.

Maybe if it was my first time I would have placed 7 higher.

It seems pretty alright to me. I loved Dead Rising 2 and 4 seems like a return to form plus it has Frank West again. Dead Rising 3 looked like total ass.

Useless repeated shit, mostly. I don't even bother.

Been grinding on that slime dungeon, haven't you?

no actually, I did a bit of grinding in the likeness since my maribel mage died too quickly, so I did grind priest for her and my hero, but since then I've not been doing too many fights

I certainly don't go out of the way to fight enemies

I think what actually happened is, the game opened up and gave me the choice of three different islands at once, and I did the harder ones first (I did have problems against other bosses)

Forced drama.

How the fuck do I kill those monsters in present day Alltrade Abbey?

what level should my party be for nismo in DQ V? i plan on using hero, my kids and sancho(sagestone/kabuff) on ds

36 to 40. I don't know if that team will cut it though. Depends on your equipment. Are you not using any monsters?

Where can I find the fossil of the serpent?

Ive seen it before but ive forgotten where.

This may sound weird, but I beat him on accident. I went up to him at around lvl 40. I had my family (son, daughter, wife, and hero) as my party and I challenged on a whim. I was thinking I would just test the waters, die, reset, and then grind a bit before beating him. I ended up killing him. Using my family as my party made it feel even better for me. Pic was my party.

The dig site. Where the deja tribe used to be, but in the present.

the highest levels one i have are a golem, saber and slime knight, however they don't have any late game equipment for them, my daughter just needs a silver shield or whatever it's called as for sancho the only thing i can get him i think is the cross bow gun thing which i don't plan on using him offensively anyways i chose nera, which at this point might be a mistake since daughter and nera are both mages

Does 7 have any gimmicks like how 5 had the dumb marriage thing?

>any gimmicks like how 5 had the dumb marriage thing?
that's not really a gimmick all it does is decide a permanent party member, and your kids hair

Classes are rebalanced, and there's no more "skill maturation" so you dont have to worry about leveling a class up to a certain level, immediately changing classes to level up to another certain level to get a certain skill.

You keep all of the basic class skills regardless if you change classes, but you can only use the skills of the advanced classes you currently are

So I run across the body of a priest where the town in ATB used to be, and I get ambushed by these monsters and they rape me.

How do I beat them?

I have monsters that go back to the Haven supposedly but I don't see them there when I visit, the ones you lure in with monster feed. What's the point of those monsters?

Is the old man that saves the people from the flood the same guy who got cucked by Kiefer?

Can someone answer this its fucking driving me crazy. I'm level 20 and I can't fucking kill them. I feel like I'm missing something here.

What's the max Vocation level?
I wanna max out one basic vocation for each character before moving on with the story.

Use field-wide attacks (Bang/Boomerang) liberally.
Don't be afraid to try putting one to sleep (thief-dude is highest priority due to the rock throwing attack). If it works you'll have an easier time healing off the damage.
>level 20
The fuck?
I did it at 17/17/16.
What's your party setup?

Just Priest, Mage, and Warrior. Its driving me nuts.

Yup

>lvl 20 and can't take the bandits
Jesus dude, just give up

Started playing VII not so long ago, currently on the island where everyone turned to stone because of some grey rain. Do I ever get some kind of freedom of exploration in this game? Maybe to choose what island to explore first. Or is the whole game "go here, good, now go there. No, you are not allowed to visit the new island even though you have all the fragments you have to talk to a bunch of NPCs you could care less for first"?

Stop making generals for your shitty overrated series on Cred Forums.

I meant weapon loadouts. I stumbled into the fight before getting a chance to grind up my skills.
I had Hero with the Steel Broadsword, Maribel with the Snooze Staff (expensive at 4k gold, but free snoozes are worth it in longer dungeons) and Ruff with an Edged Boomerang.

>why is a game that came out less than a week ago getting recurring threads
Castrate yourself in a bathtub and bleed out.

How do you get inside the top floor of the tower where the old man save people from the flood.
In the present.

the first 20 hours of the game are just to get you into the swing of things, it opens up more later.

I think it's 10 but your mastery stars turn yellow when you've maxed it out so just look out for that.

Ok nevermind, it's late and I'm retarded. Forgot I had the spell Snooze. Lmao.

One more thing: make sure to cast Buff on everyone, those 45(ish)-defense increases are nothing to sneeze at.

>spam maribel's boom
>win

gee this game is basically the dark souls of turn based jrpgs amirite?

Except you're not just talking about VII, you're talking about the entire fucking series, you edgy cumrag.

Just because the game came out recently doesn't mean you can create DQ generals on Cred Forums.

>two posts are representative of the whole thread
>"PEOPLE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DISCUSS ANYTHING THAT ISN'T THE OP REEEE"
The vast majority of the thread is talking about VII anyways you attention-seeking fuckwad.
Tie some piano wire around your neck and jump off a bridge.

Filthy goomans
Kill urselfs

When I try to Sap bosses most of the time I do that 2 times in a row without any problems and then Sap spell just keeps failing. So do all buffs/debuffs only stack twice in this game?

I think so.
Sometimes I'll get an extra Sap, but it'll only decrease their defense by 1.

I've noticed this too. I'll get to off no problem, then a 3rd doesn't happen or it's only 1 or 2 points. I suppose that means there's a cap on it. I don't recall it being that way in the PS1 version, but it has been years since I played it last.

>notso macho heart

nice, I'll assume I can get a permament oomph spell from that

Do those 3 DLC maps have no level cap for the class grinding, or is it just that metal manikin one?

How do I beat setesh?

Hes kicking my ass so hard.

>unlock classes
>can finally give Hero some fighting abilities
It feels good not having to solely rely on the attack option as the only method to attack. But fuck though, it was easy as fuck grinding the slime dungeon to get some class levels. It's gonna be really hard to not be tempted to go max class grinding

Help me Cred Forums he two shots every party member and theres nothing I can do about it.

just finished the alltrades abbey scenario

please tell me there's a shortcut somewhere that lets me get back to that "town" with the shard in the bank, i'm not wasting 20m going back in through 2 dungeons, dodging monsters and coming back

jesus christ DB Bulma was a slut and that turns me on so fucking much.

Literally just walk out the Abbey ya goofball. It's right there.

The upper path from the "town" gets unblocked afterwards

fucking kill me holy shit

thanks guys

I've been thinking about picking this one up since I don't really have a good use for my 3DS right now.

I haven't played a mainline DQ game before, is this one a good place to start? If so I'll pick it up after class tomorrow.

Already Pirated it

grind those jobs lad
if you're under level 20 then use the slime tablet

>unlock classes
>I'll just get my hero to their intermediate and move on
>grinded Hero to Hero class before fighting the bandits
fuck

Holy shit is this from the original show?

Fuck. What class is good against him?

I fucking hate this stupid purple dragon.

Also the priestess said something about two marbles or balls where can I find them?

Balls are found after you beat him. Sage is good, Paladin is also pretty rad. I beat him in two turns because he couldn't even scratch my dudes.

What jobs have you currently mastered (if any)? I already had the sage class unlocked for Maribel and the gladiator class for Hero so that helped a lot. Cloak of evasion is great for Maribel and Ruff, he missed like 80% of his attacks because of that.

It's from the "Path to Power" ova which retells the early portions of Dragon Ball with modern artstyle and properly colored hair Bulma. That scene is in the anime, but it's slightly different.

DB Bulma is best Bulma.

>Maribel is FUCKING PISSED while Arus has a good time
Where did you get this high def screenshot from the game?

NIPPLES

Thanks. Yeah Im planning to make maribel into a druid so she's on her way to become a sage.

I guess I'll grind for jobs for a while.

Arus is just an autist.

I want to go for Druid but fuck grinding out those shitty classes. Plus Druid doesn't get that cruise control multiheal.
Unless they do, in which case I'm going to grind those shitty classes.

I can tell you this first hand user, I completed ff3 last weekend, and the final dungeon is about two hours, had to do it three times

HOLY SHIT FUCK DAZZLE FUCKING FUCK YOU CAN'T HEAL IT WITH TINGLE EITHER.

No really, how do you deal with it? I really just want to go back and grind for jobs that have a cure spell for it. Problem is, I don't know which.

The protip for dealing with dazzle is making whoever got dazzled into your temporary healer. Or make them use magic in general.
Or defend a lot.

No cure then? Just have to go for magic?

Really, fuck those urns in the desert.

I got caught both those nerd pots once.
I never got into a fight in the desert since then.
Thin air really fucks shit up if you have paladins though.

How about breath attacks? Do they miss when you're dazzled?

I honestly don't know what misses while dazzled. At the moment I just spam the same attacks on everything and they all seem to be 100% hits anyway.

At alltrades abbey now.

Is the staff of antimagic worth it for maribel? Its kinda expensive

She's a sage btw

Do you get any stats bonuses each time i get a class rank/lvl?

You mean thin air? I would grind into paladin if it's not affected.

I fucked up Cred Forums,

I didnt know youre not supposed to grind in the early levels of the game.

Where can I grind job levels past level 20?

I'm assuming lower level dungeons?

getting my slime grind on atm

tell me pirate is decent now with oomph + sword dance, all these slime hearts from grinding thief are becoming unbearable

>replying to a tripfag
You are part of the problem and you should kills yourself.

I'll take a tripfag over annoying shitposters any day.

>le trips r gay xDD do i fit it yet.
End yourself please

Reminder that you can play with one hand.

Try higher level dungeon/field that has lowest exp for that area.

>all these slime hearts are becoming unbearable
Eh?
They sell for 200g a pop. It's good money considering you're not explicitly grinding for that.

Anyone?

Where's the second migrant?

A farmer that wants to dance doesnt ring any bell.

>tfw Mervyn
He's so great, I wish he was my grandfather

Wait, you can use the slime tablet to grind jobs? How, isn't it low level as fuck?

where's the Pool of Piety?
I don't remember that name, and my info screen tells me the next fragment is located there

I think you're looking for the dude upstairs in the estard inn?

based on how many battles you complete and the slime forest will count until level 20 apparently, so super fast battles/low exp gain = good job grinding.

Shit one of my characters is level 21. What do?

so I'm finally far enough so I can share what getting monsters (random ones) into your monster meadows actually does

you can send a team of 3 out to look for a tablet, and you will receive a tablet with a random dungeon filled with those 3 kinds of monsters to complete

you unlock the ability to do this after completing Nottagen

>First boss
>Hanlon does nothing two rounds
>Maribel dies
>Hamlon sap than crit
Fuck you. He was alright against the crab guy but fuck me I hate over powered NPC that does nothing.
Remember one of the next boss has an antimagic field and the woodsmen is just as dumb. Did they change it to be more helpful?

Mine aren't showing up in my meadow. Whats up with that?

fight in an area more appropriately levelled for him

not entirely sure either
I checked my meadows, there are some of the monster i've collected, but not all

I'd assume monsters are assigned to specific meadows based on type, so you probably don't have any assigned to "Grasslands"

my Slime Knight does show up there, and I also got a bunch of others in my Graveyard

>trying to make money in the casino before I enter the hell that is Dharma

These slots need to pay out more. Also why isn't there a 50 coin slot? all the 10 token ones are the 90 coins per go variety.

Aira isn't for a long time. Melvin is at the top of God's tower

Sap lowers their defense by 50%
The 2nd use isn't 50% of whats left but still 50% of the base. You only get a third sap off if they had an odd number for defense. Buff is also 50%.

Kasap and kabuff are like 25% though

more like terraria

I have so many seemingly useless items in my inventory. Can I get rid of them or are some worth holding onto?

Useless items I have: Maeve's wooden doll, boxer shorts, slime hearts (i'm sure i should save these right?), empty bottle, angel tears

>Maeve's wooden doll
>Didn't give it to Patrick (or whatever the little boy's name is)
You're heartless.

Fighting Setesh now. It seems the desperate attack by the boss completely ignores defence.

Buff is still necessary though so you won't need to heal as much. You just need to keep your HP above 90 so that the desperate attack won't kill you off. With buff, the normal attacks would only do 5 damage at the most.

Also, thief's early rock throw skill ignores defence too. That shit kills those shitty desert pots easily. I think it's the same skill the bandits use, which gave me trouble before. Have no idea how rock throwing can bypass defence though.

I guess I missed something? I don't really go around talking to everyone in every town.

>buff runs out at the enemy's turn
>immediately after a normal attack, the boss used the desperate one
>ded

How long does buff last again?

Killed him with only Ruff left. That was close.

>I don't really go around talking to everyone in every town.
He was right near the graves just before leaving. And how could you not talk to everyone and listen to the party chat? It's so fun.

Like 90% of NPCs just repeat similar things as each other. I don't have the time or autism for that.

>make it to the desert boss with 15k gold
>thought the boss would be easy since i steamrolled everything before it and i had a few jobs mastered
>get absolutely destroyed and lose half my gold
remember to use the fucking bank lads

dumb wojack poster

Kek, I just beat the guy myself. What a close fight.

Seems the best way to do it is just to wail on him as much as you can before he starts spamming his desperation attack.

How many tokens are good to have before jumping into the 10 token slots?

...

Got into the habit of putting a quarter of my gold in the bank every time I pass a place with one, got a nice little nest egg in there now.

>marathoned the game up until the abbey
>now don't want to continue because I have no idea which class I should take

Fuck, too many choices paralyze me.

So the row of slots the guy sits in front of has two lines of 7s. its super easy to land 3-4 7s in a row on it. Went from 900 tokens to 3900 tokens to 33000 tokens pretty quick

>L button gave out on my XL gave out
Does VII and VIII use it alot?

you can play one handed and use L as A, so it's useful

On the overworld L is used for camera controls now so you cant do that like you could on ps1

Reminder that Dazzle used to be about the enemy going Kage Bunshin no Jutsu instead of just getting sand in your eyes.

I felt the same way. The only problem now is I'm not sure how much class grinding I can do without becoming too overpowered

It's a shame we still don't have a comprehensive guide for classes.

And fuck I need a list of attack abilities not affected by Dazzle.

Is there anyway I can see the damage or multipliers for skills?
It's annoying when trying to figure out the relative damage of abilities that aren't elemental spells (KaX, Xle, KaXle, etc.)

Also reminder that there's different dialogue for mirrors depending on your party leader.

L/R only act as A during menus. You still need to press A to interact with things in the overworld.

Finally the game is getting pretty challenging.
I'm stuck at 2 different bosses. Time to grind.

>Rashers/Stripes do a desperate attack! Maribel dies.

I just beat that guy with no jobs mastered
He fucked up Maribel once but he spent most of the time uselessly beating on the Hero

You can go back to the Abbey and get some Cloaks of Evasion if you need those to help I suppose

This whole MIDI thing is really putting me down. Listening and watching the Japanese version is just making feel absolute buyer's remorse, but hopefully we get XI.
Even though I like buying physical copies, I kinda wish I jumped in on the 3DS homebrew craze. I totally would've if I'd known something like this would happen.

>I totally would've if I'd known something like this would happen.
Then we never would get XI you retard

>Cannibox used a desperate attack
>you're 4 floors down a dungeon
>a party member is below 40 HP
>it's maribel

I'd still buy the game, but I'd get the patched version of it via homebrew.

What's the best token to gold item at the first casino by dharma? My short tern memory is pretty shit for match cards

So i should be fine? Even though all I really play is Monster Hunter anyway (CPP) and Project Mirai, it would be nice if I could at least play DQ.

Just write down the match cards on a spreadsheet or something. Still takes a bit of luck but it's plausible enough to cheese it that way.

Get the Bottlenose Shield for the Hero at the very least. Two Magic Garments are pretty nice for Maribel and Ruff not getting raped by AoE in the next few bosses.

Have you tried putting your lips right on the left corner of your 3DS and blowing really hard? That can often clean off whatever's blocking your L-button

So yeah, still no monsters at my meadow. I feel like I've done something wrong or missed something completely. Anyone know what do?

Already bought all the gear upgrades with tokens and got a war hammer and white shield. Just dunno if i could keep up the match cards. Hovering around 36000 tokens playing in the good machine

>the good machine
Which one's that? I just did the far left 10 coin machine and got enough tokens for everything I wanted in like half an hour.

The one on the right withbthe guy in front. It has two 7777 rows. I just hit 4 7s again on it

Oh I see. I didn't even think of trying to use that one since the guy was sitting in front of it.

I'll keep that in mind if I ever need more shit at the Casino.

Yeah, first thing I tried unfortunatly. I'd send it in but it's out of warranty.

>grinded 3 jobs at slime forest
>i get a slime heart every other battle
>sell all the slime hearts for 25000 gold
>mfw

Unless you max out your advanced vocations right away and go for Hero and shit, you'll be fine, after that point the bosses and enemies get quite a bit stronger all of a sudden to balance you having classes now

The bandit fight in present Alltrades might be painful if you haven't made more people Priests, for example

I just barely managed it by having Maribel and Ruff Snooze and Dazzle as many as possible while Hero picked them off.

Once you take down one bandit it gets a lot easier

I did it by having Ruff and MC both focus on healing while Maribel spammed Boom every turn

I had Ruff as a thief so I just had him spamming Sandstorm and attacking whenever he could

The only thing that really fucked me over was having the MC confused and not having Mid Heal available during it. Solved it with a Lucida shard.

How long does it take to max a basic vocation using Slimetree Forest?

About 30 minutes if you have a boomerang.

Is it worth grinding now while I only have three members, or should I wait until I get a permanent 4th one? When will that even be?

Please help.
The Green Fairy tells me there is a fragment on the island where i fought the robots.
But i find absolutely nothing. My Fragment detector shows nothing.

Once you finish the story there in the present, you can talk to a girl in a house in Frobisher and she'll give you it. That's the one I missed.

No, ive already gotten that a long time ago.
I'm like 5-6 islands after that. prob more than taht too.

The fourth and fifth party members start with some job levels.

Not him, but I personally think slime grinding isn't mandatory. Like, I get it if you want to grind to get usefull skills like getting everyone buff by leveling priest, or at most maxing one basic job per character. But grinding to advance++ jobs as soon as possible would totally break the game and might make you get bored later.

Can't find the answer anywhere

I agree, besides those bandits at alltrades there isn't really any other hard fights in the game, grinding will make far too easy.

>besides those bandits at alltrades
Those were suppose to be hard? I must be overleveled already.

Does it matter if I play DQVII as my first DQ game? Do I need to play any of the prior games?

You don't have to bother with grinding. I guess it's good to get something like cleric out of the way now to save your ass later on but otherwise you're probably going to grind later once you get the other two party members anyway. You won't get Mervyn for quite a while if you just unlocked jobs.

Well relatively hard. It is DQ7 after all.

That's my point. I played the original PS1 game and got stomped. Now I'm playing the remake and I'm doing so well, I was holding out for some 20 turns on a fight I was suppose to lose. Just using the heal stone and medicinal herbs.

Do vocations level up based on enemies defeated, or battles won? I don't understand.

It's standalone, totally fine if you haven't played any other DQ games.

Should I use all my life seeds on maribel?

She keeps dying.

Battles won that aren't too far below your level

Shit is sold out everywhere, it's fine you idiot.

Put her on the last position if you don't want her to get hit often.

That helps? Enemies don't choose their target at random?

They do. But apparently character position also affects it.

Don't forget to watch the live action. Its a great series.

Do you mean The Hero Yoshihiko?

youtube.com/watch?v=YQTn1QxCZ2s

Can't watch it if I don't know where to download it, can I? ;^)

I want maribel to cast thia on my dick

>Nara uses the soulblade

When can you access al-shalal, the cave with the frozen ship?

Its the only white area on my world map right now and it kinda disturbs me.

WOW, racist much?

...

Anyone know where i can find the "riches guy in the world"
He supposedly was going to have houses all over the world, I need to find him since he bought the flaming stone off Pike.

>the musics in this game are so comfy
>always get sleepy 30 minutes in
Especially that overworld theme in the past world.

This is going to end like DQ3 and the human and elf...

>that part where Florin returns to kick ass and redeems himself

builders came out months ago, what the fuck are you on about? It's a mediocre action game with very little "Building", mostly just boring fucking grinding on mobs to get materials to craft new weapons.

>>why is a game that came out less than a week ago getting recurring threads
>Castrate yourself in a bathtub and bleed out.
there's nothing wrong with recurring threads

but this dude is constantly trying to make a DQ general on Cred Forums since the one on /vg/ keeps dying

What's this about deadlocking a class?
Why am I not supposed to grind in the beginning?

>Maribel gained level 20 on the final boss before I get my jobs so I can't level off slimes
Figures.

Damn nigga, I was only level 16-17 at the end of Alltrades Abbey

I only just hit 20 in Ygg's roots.

jjust arrived at the second casino

>bought 600 tokens
>they all went down the drain within 10 minutes

worst of all, I need 2000 tokens for a mysterious fragment

>Go to Desert Castle in present
>people celebrate your arrival
>joyous parties are had
>Talk to NPC on way out
>She talks about how that boulder with chains near the entrance was used to leave criminal scum out in the Sun until they dried up and died
Jesus Christ how horrifying
Also how do I access the back room in the bottom floor of the Desert Castle in the past?

How long after Mervyn do you get Aria or whatever?

Never played any game in the series, half tempted to pick this up. Can someone sell me on this?

Pirate is a second tier vocation that you get from maxing Sailor and Thief. It gives you sword dance (4x attacks at 70% damage) at level 8 as well. They learn oomph so you could even buff yourself with it and tear through bosses with those 2 moves.

It's a 100 hour long super traditional old school JRPG with all the character/monster designs and art done by Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball guy). If that doesn't sell it for you, nothing will, because that's all there is to it.

Really good fucking longhaul of a RPG.
Play IV, V, or VIII first if you want a shorter game.

Oh shit so they did make Pirate less terrible? I might have to send Hero down that route once he finishes up Warrior and Martial Artist.

You have sold me my man, I'll pick it up tomorrow.

what? Is level 20 the max level in this game?

Amazon says my order won't come until the 22nd. And according to the game's site, some of the distribution items get removed at the end of the month.

From the beginning of the game, how long would it take to reach this Download Bar?

I haven't reached that point yet but I recall there being some rich guy on that italian accent Island

If you get the game on the 22nd and can't reach that by the 30th, let alone the 24th, Dragon Quest isn't the video game for you.

Hell, video games in general probably aren't for you.

Good to know that I should stop grinding, I'm level 8 in the volcano area.

>Oh shit so they did make Pirate less terrible?
Seems like it. But Sailor and thief don't really get any high damage single target abilities for you to carry over, but if you're doing other classes first then its not a big deal.

Oh, its that early in game? Well nevermind then, I got all worried for nothing.

Are Reformed monster who disguise as humans missable?
I just got Mervyn and i have only found 1.

I've gained too many levels because I ran all over every inch of every island looking for chests. And I don't avoid battles.

Keep in mind that university is on and not everyone is a NEET. I'm only 3 hours in so far.

How long is this game? Am I going to have to sink more than 50 hrs? Max I'll do is 70

Skip it then

Its the longest DQ game.

Its around 80 hours, maybe longer depending on how you play.

>Having an arbitrary cap on how much time you'll spend on a game
?

Yes
No

I'd much rather Dragon Quest Hero's 2 over Builders. Feels like a proper action adventure as opposed to the first one.

I am busy. Most RPGs I start and come back to thinking wtf was I doing. Not unless Im really into it.

>sullied sanctum
Alright how do you get through the darkness room?
Theres a statue that turns to the left when you examine it but walking left, right, or every other way just has me falling off the stupid ledge and having to go all the way back up.

Builders has fun combat and pretty good graphics.

The basic systems are similar to Minecraft, but it's a more cohesive experience.

>that cunt
>encountered him while underleveled and exploring zipang
>managed to beat him by the skin of our teeth
>one of the most exhilerating turn based fights I've ever had
>he retreats into a portal
>follow expecting victory cutscene
>have to fight him a 2nd time

Is there a way to meet the forest fairy again?

Shes so cute.

Yes restart game

Kiefer is gonna put the hoe before the bros, isn't he? When should I remove his equipment?
Also how far I am from the Abbey?

He gives you a bag with all his shit when you leave

>When should I remove his equipment?
He gives it back to you when you leave, so don't worry about that.

>Also how far I am from the Abbey?
Next island

>it's a scripted loss boss fight

>girl is selling a pirate hat, but I don't have the money
>she reappears at AllTrades Abbey and doesn't sell the pirate hat

It's funny because every "unbeatable" boss in DQ7 has limited HP (and it's not something like 10 millions like in other games).
It's possible to kill them early, but chances are your low lv and stats won't permit it.

I can confirm. I killed the pig but died to the tiger the next turn.

Arr me mateys. 'm a pirate!

>They show bottles and glasses with wine
>They talk about drinking a cup of tea
EVERY! FUCKING! TIME! Seriously, this is a PEGI 12 game, not a PEGI 3 game! We're not at 1986 anymore!

Putting aside stupid minor censorship like this, I love this game.

Yeah, this one is fine to start with.

Keep in mind if you play others in the series they aren't as big in scope as 7 is. I've played all but X and this one seems to be the longest so far, they don't all have classes either

How do you get past the waterfall?

I doubt if you even know what kind of censorship does DQ7 has.

You serious nigga?

Both IV and V are great games although IV is my personal favorite. Even with the lack of party talk feature, I prefer the DS version to play with proper controls and an extra screenshot to see the map anytime I want all the time.

>proper controls
Whoa, man. It's JRPG, not fighting/racing/fps game. Any control is proper control here.

yes
Is the answer really obvious?

Even then, the controls aren't so convenient at smartphones.

talk to the couple in the house next to the waterfall

Your uncle is literally a drunk that gets blasted on actual, for real alcohol.

That dude is actually drinking tea

calm your gamer goober tits

Well...at least they didn't censored female characters with seductive dressing. At least in my knowledge. We still see characters that show their cleavage instead of covering them. And we also have some naughty jokes.

With the SJW treatment that Nintendo gives at games like Fire Emblem and Tokyo Mirage Sessions, I am worried about the latest localizations.

>reading the DQ7 nintendo quick start guide
>faraday castle (past) level recommended is 10
>already 14
Did I overlevel? Am I fucked when I get up to vocations?

Waito piggu go home.

Wilted Heart is just a big telenovela.

That maid

Just avoid all the encounters on the world map and the ones you can in dungeons.

I just finished the All trades Abbey island, what vocations are best suited for the hero, Maribel and ruff?

So I made it to the Abbey and I'm pretty much at a loss now. I remember someone mentioning a site (I think it was Japanese) a couple threads ago that had some info on classes and skills. Anyone got the link?

Embarrassed to ask, but who do I go to so that I can extunguish the black flames in the early game?

I took a two day break and forgot who the "slovenly fool" their talking about is.

Also, should I be saving my seeds for when I unlock classes?

Okay, so I'm level 21 with most of my guys. Is there a second place that's good for training classes? :

>a slovenly guy with a bottle
who do you think?

I just ran through the whole dungeon that led to Alltrades Abbey a second time and my characters gained 5-7 stars. I'm only 23 battles from maxing Thief for one of them. All the enemies I fought except Slime Knights died in 1 turn (using boomerangs, whips and bang).

I was guessing it was talking about your drunk uncle, but he's not in your house and he's not in the bar were he was the first time so I have no idea were he is.

Is grinding out advanced classes a necessary step or is it just for people who like to minmax?

I just got to Grondal, what am I supposed to do now? I've talked to every NPC I can find and nothing seems to be advancing the story here

Do you read when you talk to them?
Talk to the old guy in the bed. he tells you to talk to the girl near the tree.

Huh I don't remember an old guy in a bed, I'll have to search the town again

Welcome to Dragon Quest

But then how do I get gold to afford new gears?

Have you checked his house?

You don't have to avoid 100% of the fights, just don't go out of your way to farm. Even if you somehow go past the level cap, it's probably not that big of a deal.

Yeah about 6h in. While its pretty comfy however not near as good as 8

You can beat the game with intermediate classes like in Dragon Quest VI. Don't even have to get advanced classes. But if you want to get them, then you'll probably have to do some extra leveling. You also don't have to do leveling now. Or you can just do the leveling by fighting whatever you encounter while exploring/side quests.

I just rushed my first classes real quick so I could get Thief and Priest out of the way and switch my characters to better offensive classes.

Why are there tons of weapons on a fishing boat?

What is the sizzling stone? Should I keep it or return it to drunk uncle?

>Why are there tons of weapons on a fishing boat?
Sea is a dangerous place.

Just got it. Shit, I forgot he had a house.

That's a good idea, I'll keep it in mind.

>however not near as good as 8
Kind of asking for the impossible for another game to beat the best game ever made.

Man the harpoons lads. What, we don't got any? You sorry sods!

Anyone care to explain deadlocking classes and "overleveling is bad" for me

I'm new to DQ and I've never played a game that punished you for grinding

Are all the life seeds that were around the start of the game in the PSX version all gone? Trying to use a PSX guide to make sure I don't miss stuff and I don't think I've come across a single life seed yet.

They're translated differently I'm sure

If you're under level 20 you can grind job ranks on level 1 Slimes that give almost no exp so you can powerlevel your jobs without getting overleveled stat-wise

That's it, it really doesn't matter if you don't do it anyway because the game is sorta balanced around leveling your jobs up as you go through the story

>there's an Island that looks like Cyprus
>it unlocks with yellow tablets

Nice touch.

Well they were lifeacorns in the old game, but I still haven't seen any, just resilience and wisdom seeds, with a magic seed.

You don't need to buy every new thing that comes up. The only time I've gone below 1000 since breaking 4 digits was the first time i got to the mech place in the past. Since so much of that stuff is direct upgrades but even then I just spread it out and bought like one thing per person. You get nearly as good or better stuff in chests not long after and then just a few islands from there is the first casino. 1k gold in coins can earn you huge upgrades

I am so mad about Kiefer leaving the party even though I knew about it years in advance.

>initially think he's kind of a dickhead
>starts to grow on me, feel the bromance
>as soon as he sees the poontang he goes full 180
>"n-nah bro it's not like that, I'll just stay back here with this chick because I'm chivalrous. I would never cuck another man"
>"btw I'm staying behind it's MY DESTINY"

I don't think I've ever felt more betrayed in a video game. It would have been ok if they had built it up more, but what the fuck was that? It really feels like his character just drops the fucking ball.

I just returned the Viking girl after unlocking the first fragment to her village
Im level 8

What do I do instead?

In the old PS1 game, you had to level jobs pretty close to your base level. In other words, you had to fight enemies near your location in the story. Within 5-10 levels or so.

In this version, they made the gap bigger. So you should be able to go back to an island a few chapters ago and level some on weaker enemies. Not that it matters much since enemies are a lot easier now so you might as well just level on enemies at the current story point. Right after unlocking skills, I just fought the enemies around AllTrades Abbey and it only took 1-2 turns each battle, same as the slimes back in the first area would.

Don't even worry about it, unless you go out of your way to grind for gold regularly like I did, you'll be well under level 20 by the time you get classes anyway, and even if you do miss it it doesn't matter at all, it'll just be 2% more annoying grinding job ranks

It's not that overleveling is bad, but because how the job system works (the requirement to level up classes is how many battles you fought, not how many exp you get), the method to grind classes by killing the easiest monsters in the game (slimes) can only be done for those whose level are under 20.

Why is the 16 year old hero so tiny? When I was 16 I was already as tall as my dad. Considering his parents the hero should be huge.

Just reached robot island, how many more islands to the jobs?

I didn't know about it and it got me sad as fuck.

Choked up a bit when I found his grave

You're almost halfway there

>Story about the love triangle in the flower village.
>It kind of bores me at first.
>Get to the new church on the island in the future.
The girl is buried together on the side with the guy who chooses to leave the village.
Damn, this game is nice.

>Is grinding out advanced classes a necessary step or is it just for people who like to minmax?

I beat the game on ps1 with my only advanced class being the hero at like rank 2 godhand so I didn't even have the good shit. I also spenta lot of time in dead end classes like mariner as him though. If you want to do postgame you'll want to have advanced classes mastered and maybe even autism some monster hearts for certain skills but not for story. Final boss has alot of forms though. Not Estark level but still a lot so you want to be good on healing and mp

Alright time to slow my role on levels then. just hit 13

Does the game let you know when a vocation is mastered? How many stars does it take?

Can I have monsters on my team? You can in 5 6 and 8 so I assume you can in 7 as well?

8 is max, iirc.

How do I get monster classes?

Also how do i keep skills i learn from secondary jobs?

8 stars maxes a vocation. The stars will turn gold when this is achieved.

Just started watching dragon ball. I dont know why everyone is all over dragon ball z's dick. Dragon ball is way better.

Chi chi is thicc, THICC

>Chi chi is thicc, THICC

She's just a child. I don't know what you're talking about.

I have no idea what to do after clearing alltrades abbey of monsters. I went to future Alltrades but there's not enough pieces to open new islands there and only thing I can do is bash my head against this unwinnable bandit fight.

bruh that even the full story, spoilers ahead

Lavender leaves dill because he's a lazy fuck. Abandons her son with him and becomes a nun at the dudes town. Makes a new name and spends the rest of her life watching him from afar. Meanwhile the dude adopted a little girl named lavender and is living a decent life. Lavender dies and is buried on a cliff overseeing the tower so that she could continue watching over him. Then you take him to see the grave and he realizes what happens

I beat them at like lv17

Wow, didn't think they would keep expanding on the story.

Dragon Ball Z was shown on TV for decades. While Dragon Ball was overlooked in many countries (think they showed it in places like Italy, Brazil and Mexico, but not USA, France and Britain). Plus, its all about fighting and muscles, which 12 year old males love.

I agree that Dragon Ball is better however. And Dragon Quest is closer to the story arcs and comedy of Dragon Ball than DBZ.

How?

They seem unwinnable because I can't get any hits in because my party is either confused or dead after 2 turns. None of them seem to be able to put to sleep or made dazzled.

Please tell me this is optional.
