I tell em I play 90's FPS's, Rockband, and Megaman alot. If they want specific examples of favorites, I'd tell them Megaman Classic, Doom, Rockband just as a platform (although RB2 has the best on disc setlist imo), Duke, Postal 2 (redux is good too), and Metal Gear (though I rarely play them anymore, got burnt out hard).

I like many normie games so its fine, we can talk about NHL 14 and forza all day.

I legitimately don't like those boards or browse them. Also, those boards are pretty active and form many outsiders' stereotype of a Cred Forums poster (especially if they've ever visited this site or only hear about it on reddit). I just like to get it out of the way that I don't browse this site for porn, gore, fascist politics, or ronery threads. All that said, I almost never talk about Cred Forums anyway because it's hard to understand what this site is like without using it.

It's a weird question, if you treat Vidya like movies, music or TV then there's no real answer, people don't specialise in watching a few select films. But if you treat it the same, then it's a sad excuse of a hobby.

I think the best answer is "oh you'know, all kinds of stuff, but at the moment I'm really into/being playing a lot of XXXXX and YYYYYY game".

That way you can be open to discuss anything, and if you post here you likely have a passing knowledge of most games, but also some specific ones to give them a sense of your taste.
