Dead Space

Just finished this game yesterday. So was she dead all along? I didnt quite get it all because I was drunk as fuck when I finished the game last night. Loved it though.

Dead Space thread I guess.

Dead Space

Read the first letters.

Look at the first letter of each chapter.

Fuck me.. Also, is 2 as good as the first one? I heard it was more action orientated. I was told to stay away from 3 at all costs though.

Why did EA have to go full retard with Dead Space 3? Such a great series got turned to shit too fast.

2 is good but its kinda like RE4 is to RE.

Still spooky but a lot more action. Also yes for gods sake don't play 3.

Yes, pretty much that.

DS2 is basically RE4 but spookier.

that return to the Ishimura chapter

I'll try it out since i got both games in a bundle. Also I read they gave Isaac a voice all of a sudden in the next game?

Ds3 isn't "bad", just don't go in expecting more of the same. It's what infinite is to bioshock, so it's not bad in itself, but it's definitely not the same formula.

Yes. Issac has a voice. But its one of those extremely rare moments where the character that was given a voice is actually well written.

Kendra also straight up tells you in the final chapter.

DS3 really IS bad, don't listen to the underage faggots who say otherwise.

FUCK OFF SHE'S NOT REAL HOW DID I GET A GAME OVER

But infinite was shit

He does talk which is both good and bad.

His voice acting is fine but the game wouldn't be any different if he didn't talk.

It's actually a random crew member that Issac thinks is Nicole

it wasn't shit, it was fun to play through once and that's it.

Excuse me?

You're just crazy and die of grief because your tulpa gf died.

>Dead Space
>scary

What's so scary about it, really? I never experienced that feeling when playing the game.

Ok well I'll start my playthrough tonight.
Well I don't own 3 only 1 and 2 on steam so I wont be able to play it anyway.

look at them dsl's

>steam
That reminds me.
The devs were kinda fags, and the PC versions of the games have some nasty bugs they never bothered to fix.

For example, the first game defaults to Normal difficulty if you hit Continue from the main menu instead of manually loading your last save.

And in the second one, you don't get the unlocks for finishing the Hardcore mode, unless you don't do it in one sitting, without exiting to the main menu.

They also never fixed 1's mouse acceleration bug.

>For example, the first game defaults to Normal difficulty if you hit Continue from the main menu instead of manually loading your last save.
I noticed this when I saved later and thought wait a sec I'm playing on normal? I thought I picked hard? Atleast now I know why.
>And in the second one, you don't get the unlocks for finishing the Hardcore mode, unless you don't do it in one sitting, without exiting to the main menu.
I'll keep that in mind.

I played with a mouse (it might be TPS, but it's still a shooter, so precision is of utmost importance), and I honestly didn't notice anything like that. Maybe it's because you played with V-sync on.

When I loaded DS1 recently, I found that (at least on my current machine) playing without V-sync causes absolutely horrendous screen-tearing. And turning it makes the controls really fucking sluggish, and maybe locks it to 30 fps too.

I fixed it by turning V-sync off in the game and turning it on in Nvidia drivers. Worked like a charm.

No, Isaac was dead all along, he died in the crash at the start, the entire game was Nicole's post-death hallucination as the marker slowly consumes her consciousness and to try to keep a hold of her sanity she concocts a fantasy where she is still alive and Isaac comes to save her.

Seconding this, solved the shitty mouse issues for me when I tried replaying it a few months ago.

>Maybe it's because you played with V-sync on.

Yes, that was the bug I was referring to.

OP here, I locked the fps to 60 with rivatuner and didnt notice much screen tearing. As for the mouse controll they felt a bit heavy but nothing really that I couldnt get used to.

You knew exactly what was going to happen, I knew too.

Who'd think video games can cause legit PTSD?

They didn't have the balls to keep it completely empty throughout. Because fuck atmosphere, tension, and fear; needs more action.

>And in the second one, you don't get the unlocks for finishing the Hardcore mode, unless you don't do it in one sitting, without exiting to the main menu.

You can unlock them manually after you finish the game in hardcore if you want.

>that flashback where isaac got grabbed by the tentacle

No horror game would be scary without running low on ammo and health in combat. Tension without the actual threat of dying would be just boring.

I would argue that if the game hadn't established an actual threat of dying by the time you get to that point in the game, the game is a failure regardless of what does or doesn't happen from that point onwards.

I would also argue that an almost constant stream of monsters is far more boring than leaving that whole section monster-free.

...

>implying you didnt shit yourself when that one splicer jumped you while using the bench scariest scare of the game t b h fampai

Nope. The scariest part was when you are walking down a hallway with 1 lone Necromorph body lying on the floor. As you approach it you think it's going to jump up and attack when suddenly a hole in the right hand wall blows up and the body is sucked into space. Got me good for a jump scare.

I bought the bundle during the summer sale and just played through them about a month ago. I had played 1 on 360 when it came out, never played 2.

DS1 looks and plays great maxed out at 60fps. DS2 I didn't enjoy as much. It looks a little better, but the pacing is different in a bad way. Some of the sets are better and there some cool points, but overall it was a few steps below DS1. Worth playing tho.

The scariest parts are not the fighting or jumpscares for me. I dont find them scary at all. I find the inbetween parts the most disturbing. when you are walking around and you scratching behind the walls or some distant screeching or hearing something get knocked over. Those are the most unsettling parts for me. When I'm actually fighting i really dont give a fuck.

hi

DS3 is fine too, don't fall for that shitty meme.

>Shitty meme

>Microtransactions in a singleplayer/coop game
>100% action 0% fear
>universal ammo
>shit atmosphere compared to 1 and 2
>shitty cuck sidestory thrown in
>shit story and ending overall
>Real ending is DLC
>coop breaks the immersion yes you can play it alone too but it breaks the immersion even more when Carver shows up out of nowhere in a cutscene

The only redeeming thing about this shitpile was the early section where you traveled from ship to ship in space.

2 is gr8.
>FUCKstomping the shit out of necromorphs.
Making me want to replay it again.

yeah, DS1 was Event Horizon with the Marker influencing Isaac by fucking with his mind the whole time to try to get him to do what it wanted.

ISAAC WHERE WAS MY BODY???[/SPOILER]

I got stuck on that fucking hallway on Zealot difficulty. Ended up never finishing it.
I should try again. I honestly wasn't really prepped for it.

I heard the infinite DLCs were alright?

Is it just me or has Dead Space been popping up a lot? There's way more threads than normal and some youtuber did a "Dead Space story in 3 mins" like two days ago. What the hell is happening

Is Dead Space 4 upon us?

>DS3
>cuckboy constantly grabbing ellies ass when you are around
>constantly tries to go against Ellies and Isaacs plan to stop the end of the universe
>betrays you to the unitology fucks
>also gets fucked over by the same Unitology guys he was trying to hand you over to
>you save yourself and him from that
>still tries to kill you right after
>you shoot him before hes about to kill you
>Ellie is mad as fuck at you for that and doesnt want to talk to you anymore
>Jumps on you dick 10 minutes later and forgets about whatshisname
DS3 was so shit.

>DLC ending

Dead Space became available on GOG not too long ago

>ending to a franchise is DLC
>it's not even a good ending.

In my headcanon the series ended after 2 where Isaac and ellie fly off in space and settle down somewhere. A much better ending.

>Tfw both ME3 and DS3 ended horribly.
>Tfw when I also didn't play either of them.
Atleast I don't have to experience the shittiness.

the series should have ended with nobody coming to save Isaac and he dies, bloodied, battered and alone on the Sprawl after destroying the marker

pair that along with youtube.com/watch?v=HsHSnGycqgw still playing in the background and the camera zooming out farther and farther until the station blows up

unequivocally the best conceivable ending to DS2

Probably the ending Visceral had in mind. But EA probably didnt let them kill off Isaac for the sake of another sequel. Much like how Konami didnt let Snake shoot himself in MGS4 how Kojima wanted it to end.

I like the credits song more.

the story is dumb as hell, but gameplay-wise DS3 is practically the same as DS2, except with way fewer zero G sections.

>but gameplay-wise DS3 is practically the same as DS2,
Sure, much of the shooting mechanics were the same. But it felt more like you were playing gears of war rather than a Dead space game with all the non stop action. the coop in that regard didnt help either.

No, DS3 gameplay is shit.
They dropped the game's trademark "strategic dismemberment" paradigm, and just made all necromorphes rush at you at full speed. So the main requirement to weapons is just dps and stopping power, instead of precision.
DS3 gameplay is not much different from a typical cover shooter like GoW.

>Konami didnt let Snake shoot himself
that was merely an idea for an ending that Kojima suggested, which the rest of kojipro convinced him not to go with.

>tfw always wanted a Starcraft shooter where you explore & clear out infested installations
>Starcraft: Ghost cancelled all those years ago
>Have an idea
>Launch Dead Space 2
>Start up Terran OST
>Lock n Load with Pulse Rifle

Holy shit why have I never thought of this before? Might try a Seeker Rifle only run for a challenge when I want to roleplay as a ghost.

Dead Space is a pretty overrated series. It's the epitome of monster closets, cheap jumpscares nonstop, and some gore porn especially in 2. You can't have atmosphere when the game tells you when an enemy is around with those shitty riffs. That's the antithesis to atmosphere, that's the game literally telling you "watch out".

Not to mention the whole thing is a shittier take on aliens, the games just scream generic space horror.

Not him but wasnt there another ending kojima had in mind where Snake and Otacon were prosecuted for terrorism and found guilty and sentenced to death or something? I heard the Nicola and Bart song was supposed to be used for that very ocassion.

Yup, spot on.

Most of the times those riffs dont sound until you actually face the enemy in your field of view. Often one will sneak up on you from behind and only when you turn around the riff and scream will sound.

I had to look it up because I didn't believe you. That's a damn good surprise. It's too bad Dead Space 2 has EA/Origin woven too deep into it for GOG.

Turn off the music

>muh slow burn psychological horror is the only real horror

Fuck off. There is nothing wrong with mixing action with horror.

I bet you would never complain that the radio in Silent Hill ruins everything by telling you exactly when an enemy is around, not that the enemies in that game don't make an awful racket even without the radio alerting you to their presence.

You can leave the Ishimura but the Ishimura wont leave you.

Dead Space 2 is one of my favorite video games of all time

STALKER isn't even a horror game but it shits all over Dead Space's cheap jumpscares.

Doom 3 did all this same exact shit that DS does, and I don't see it getting the same praise for amazing horror.

The USG Ishimura.

>STALKER isn't even a horror game

You're an idiot.

>Doom 3 did all this same exact shit that DS does, and I don't see it getting the same praise for amazing horror.

Doom 3 doesn't do it as well.

I like Dead space 1 more

You heard wrong.
They turned it into a survival horror thing, which was good and bad. Good that they tried something different and executed it pretty well, but bad because you can still go in guns blazing and kill everybody on any difficulty. I won't give any spoilers but the DLC of Infinite fucking ruins the lore of the series.

The solar satellite is probably my favorite part. Especially when you go back down.

Actually now that I look back, DS2 had so many good fucking levels. The church, Ishimura, The marker, The satellite.

Yeah STALKER is not a horror game, but it has horror elements. The difference is that it has great atmosphere, meanwhile Dead Space becomes predictable very quickly, like after the third zombie jumps at you while playing dead. Then they jump from vents some more, that just make the game predictable and ruins the atmosphere, as if there was ever any.

>Doom 3 doesn't do it as well
It sure does, both games become predictable as fuck, they even pull the same "monster after you open the door" shit.

>Official thread theme
youtube.com/watch?v=QvDucnm6FgY

That shit is literally the most dangerous part of the game on Hardcore.

Nah fuck off with the bleak shit...DS2 ending fits perfectly with the whole similarities with the first one ending

they could make Carver the main protag in DS3 and it would be less painfull

Carver has the personality of a tree trunk though.

Watching LP's from your moms computer isnt playing it

I love them both and respect that opinion

>DS2 ending fits perfectly with the whole similarities with the first one ending
that was simply a tip-of-the-hat towards DS1 on DS2's part
not to mention that DS1's ending is quite bleak

So does Isaac in the first game.

I would do anything for a complete remaster of Dead Space 1&2, Someone competent fixing all the technical issues and updating all the textures.

Dead Space 3 was a massive disappointment and could never live up to DS2 or DS1, To me it was a sequel no one wanted. I wish it turned out differently, but knowing EA I should've expected nothing.

>Yeah STALKER is not a horror game

>S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a series of first-person shooter survival horror video games
You're one of those people that decides what is and isn't horror at your own convenience, aren't you?

>meanwhile Dead Space becomes predictable very quickly, like after the third zombie jumps at you while playing dead

And in STALKER the same enemies spawn at the same locations every time you go past them. It's so predictable.

I would get it, if it actually improved the base game and included the DS2 Severed DLC since that never got released on pc It would make sense for EA to do one. They canceled the Mass Effect remaster because it would effect the new games sales. And Dead Space doesnt have that issue since EA put the franchise on ice.

>You're one of those people that decides what is and isn't horror at your own convenience, aren't you?
probably the same guy who shat up a recent dead space thread by saying that Dead Space isn't a horror game because it doesn't adhere to his strict personal definition of horror

Enemies don't even spawn in STALKER, you sure sound like you never played the games. Enemy encounters in Dead Space games are predictable, that's pretty factual. You never really know what you're up against when exploring some desolate ruins, that's why STALKER shines, preying on "the fear of the unknown" while Dead Space can give you multiple hints to what is out there, the holes in the walls where tentacles come from, all the vents, supposedly dead necromorphs. I guess if you're lobotomized you can't see that shit coming from a mile away.

STALKER's horror parts aren't even prevalent, tons of the game is just exploring outside and shooting, who classified it as a horror game? You?

>remaster
>of a barely 8 y/o game
Literally TLoU audience.

I dont know about you user. I played both SoC and CoP but both of them are not horror or for a more straight forward term both does not scare me. I've gone to the heart of Pripyat and the main nuclear plant, even heard that whispering russian guy telling you that your desires will come true etc etc and even done the official ending but most of the enemies are straight up humans with guns in a gloomy place. Thats it. SoC and CoP are more akin to Half-life in athmosphere to that of horror. If you are arguing that Stalker is far scarier than DS then your tolerance for horror is quite low fampai.

The common analogy is that Dead Space is to Alien as DS2 is to Aliens.

Continuing that analogy, DS3 is Alien 3.

Nigger, where have you been? They are remastering games all over the place now with a much shorter span than 8 years.

>Enemies don't even spawn in STALKER, you sure sound like you never played the games.

The person who has never played a STALKER game is the one that thinks it doesn't have any spawning.

Are you just praising a "meme" game to try to fit in around here or something?

3 skipped ahead to Resurrection

I think Ressurection fits more for DS3. Alien 3 lacks the action.

Just because they've been doing this shit, doesn't mean it's good. DS doesn't need a remaster, it wouldn't improve anything.

3 is garbage.

They can improve the port for the first game maybe add a little polish here and there and add the Dead Space 2 Severed expansion DLC for pc since I never got around playing that since I dont own a console.

>Dont even spawn
>the same cheeki breeki's spawn and patrol in their own path after a day or two has passed by.
>the same monsters(snorks and that mutant thing) and dogs even show up in the same area.

Dude. I even farm anomolous artifacts(or whatever you call them) from them if I needed cash. I even travel from the starting area to trade stuff for the bullets that are only bought there.

To be honest it really sounds like you are the one who have not played Stalkers SoC man.

Is there a single moment where enemies jump from a window in STALKER? No. I mean the enemies don't jump from vents or anything remotely like that in STALKER, they're just there in some room. The way you find them does not become predictable because there's no pattern to it.

Now they do jump from vents in Dead Space, over and over and over and over. There are also countless "dead" zombies that jump back to life once you approach them. Eventually the enemy encounter pattern of Dead Space can be read and this destroys any possibility of suspense or tension in the game.

...

fuck man...holy shit how did i not see this!! Mind blown!!

yes, its more action focused, but it's just as good, if not better

The atmosphere is nice during the first part, when you are, you know, actually in space. But then you land on this shitty ice planet and everything is falling appart.

>just turned off the brain scorcher yesterday
>all those camping monolith soldiers
>the ones that slowly wander around hunting you

I was getting some grade A anxiety and jumps from that place, haven't honestly felt like that since the Silent Hill 3.

Also it's about as survival horror as Bloodborne, dunno why it's nearly officially labelled like that.

...

>No pattern.
>Stalker is not predictable
Jesus christ are you meme-ing Stalkers? Have you even played the game or have you only watched lets-plays? You can even hear the crazy pigs cries or the obvious cheeki breeki's in the distance or the very obvious grunts of the snorks and their path AI while going to that dried up lake bunker area or after turning off the brain scorchers. If you are arguing that Stalker is a better game than DS because 'Stalker is not/less predictable' then what the hell fampai.

I would love a hack n slash Dead Space

I'd say DS3 skipped straight ahead into Aliens vs Predators.

Why wasnt this weapon in dead space? I want to cut some necros up with this thing.

>coop breaks the immersion
There was actually pretty good WTF moment during coop when in one 'level' you saw different reality then your coop partner because of his character's trauma.

They really should've made the space area of DS3 more expansive. The space level is pretty good and I got to say, comfy in some area's.

Tau volantis sucks.

Because it's another Ripper and would be pointless

>Now they do jump from vents in Dead Space, over and over and over and over. There are also countless "dead" zombies that jump back to life once you approach them. Eventually the enemy encounter pattern of Dead Space can be read and this destroys any possibility of suspense or tension in the game.

Except they don't jump from every vent. Not every body springs back to life. A tentacle doesn't come from every hole in the wall.

It's "predictable" to you because you ignore all the times your predictions were wrong and only care about the times you were right, i.e. you predict every body on the ground will jump up and then when the tenth one does you proclaim "I fucking knew it! This game is so predictable!" By this same logic I can predict that spooky structure in STALKER is going to have some mutant or whatever in the area and then when it's there just declare the whole game to be predictable.

Reminder that if you're a unitologist your officially a dumb shit. Altman was a fucking liar scam artist and you all bought it retards.

DS2 has a lot less spooky and more shooty
DS3 is a blast in co-op otherwise don't bother.

Yes I played it and you are full of shit. Snorks do not make a lot of noise and you will get ambushed, there are even cloaked abominations in the game. Are you sure you played Shadow of Chernobyl? Explored some desolated labs in it? Because enemies squealing like pigs is far from the norm.

I'm not saying one game is better than the other, I'm saying STALKER succeeded at atmosphere because the game leaves a lot to your imagination, while the vents, holes and bodies of Dead Space are screaming HERE COMES ANOTHER JUMPSCARE. Fuck even Half-Life 2 managed to create more unpredictable startling than Dead Space.

I think there was a single jumpscare that was well done in Dead Space, when you were using that station thing for weapons or whatever it was, and then a monster jumps at you, that was unexpected, but this unpredictability wasn't found in the rest of the game, not even close.

Is there supposed to be a message in the DS2 chapters? I can't seem to find one.

>filename

wait a sec....

Way too perfect analogy

my hardcore run ended at those blast door windows i killed a bomb necro and it blew out the glass and i was too close to shoot the blast door switch i was so mad i never played it again.

I dont see it either.

It's not as scary as 1 but the action is real good, the story is good too.

biggest planetcracker in her class

...

Why did Isaac become younger as the series progressed?

Dead Space 3 plus its DLC is great.

But it's origin so pirate it.

...

2 > 1 >>>>>>>>> 3

>WIIGCIPTTDDTGMI
What does he mean by this?
Also the mobile Dead space game was bretty gud, and those hallucinations were even better.
That long ass corridor with a large FOV and a necromorph face

If you care about the characters, story and like the mechanics play it and judge for yourself.

look at this fucking fedora tipping heretic way to not gain enlightenment faggot.

Alt be praised my dudes.

Everytime

Isn't there such a thing as rejuvenation treatment in the DS universe? Seem to remember that being mentioned somewhere.

literally nothing wrong with origin, hell I got dead space, jade empire, and bf3 free from it

>must dangle and DLC his way through the most well lit planet in the fucking solar system

>DS3
>RIP
Sounds about right.

I dont think they wanted to make Isaac younger during his time on the Sprawl. All they wanted was the marker blueprints in his head.

The dlc of DS2 was great, but Lex isn't mentioned at all in 3.
Also, why does the soccer team of mlp has Isaac as a member

They needed a handsome dad instead of potato.

First letter of each level spells make us whole or something

I always think of this guy when I see DS1 Isaac

Even the ears are the same.

>You'll never play Dead Space for the first time again

>snorks do not make a lot of noise.
>you can hear the obvious grunts from a distance and pretty much prepares you for them.
>Poltergeist disrupts the whole debri's around thus signaling their presence and readies you for them.
>Bloodsuckers will charge at you and you can pinpoint their exact location with their wheezing sounds, letting you land a shot gun blast to their face.
I played with a good head-set and I can hear them dude. I can hear the enemies in Stalkers and prepare for them. The cloaked abominations like Bloodsuckers dont cloak themselves at a distance and you can hear their approach once they do detect you. Poltergeist pretty much announced themselves with the racket they are making and that electric spark they letting off pretty much tells you where they are(though they are pretty hard to kill even if you got the better guns in the later stages).
Besides that, the other enemies in SoC are pretty much standard humans with guns.

I myself am not saying that SoC or CoP are lesser games than any of DS. Hell both games are fun. What I am having a problem with you fampai is that you are saying that SoC and CoP enemies are not predictable when the reality is that they are predictable. Both games have predictable enemies since most of the monsters in SoC will melee you along with DS and if these monsters melee you and you can hear their noises, then the only obvious strategy is to keep an eye out, have a keen ear and ready your trigger finger.

huh, REALLY makes one think...

You're posting a piece of DLC to defend the game being shit? That just means it's a shit game with alright DLC.

>Warren lies
Clever

There's some MLP meme videos that feature a pony inspired by the Marker

>Marcus Phoenix
>Marcus PHOENIX
>PHOENIX
It's Fenix, you dumbass ....NIGG(ER)!

After beating DS1 for the first time, I did all future runs with the Level 3 Rig.

Anyone else do this?

MLP General has a marker that can easily let frequent visitors pinpoint the general if they needed too. The general marker then began to get fuck you's when DS2 came out.

When I heard that Isaac was going to be voiced in DS2, I was pretty mad.

youtube.com/watch?v=EE1EP3FWa-s

It turned out a lot better than I expected.

>I was pretty mad.
but why

Because he was silent in DS1. It's like if Gordon Freeman was fully voiced in Half Life 3.

>iOS game
>HE WILL BETRAY

Fuck I just realized that.

>a character with no established personality or qualities beyond the fact that he's silent is somehow ruined by the addition of a voice
this is such an inexplicable mindset that i don't know where to begin

If you like DS1 or 2 you'll like 3.

It's too short and easy once you understand what weapons are best, but the same could be said about all of the Dead Space Games.

3 has the best combat parts and I wouldn't have noticed the game had co-op if I didn't already know.

Just because you don't get it doesn't mean it's absurd.

It just means your brain is for not seeing outside perspectives.

Only part that got me was Nicole at the very ass end of the game when she screams

All levels and the story felt incredibly uninspired in DS3.

The last level was pretty sweet tho.

Uninspired maybe, but they mastered the atmosphere. Even compared to the school/theater set in 2.

That explains nothing, you're just pretending to be more pretentious.

Whenever that happens it's because the answer is so common and obvious nobody wants to indulge you.

I'm also someone else.

>have a pretty dead brain hard time understanding the new gun mechanic in DS3.
>played almost half of the chapter using a single shot un-upgraded plasma core as top(force gun) and an un-upgraded military engine as bottom, along with plasma pistol cutter.
After I got enough resources and began experimenting, I found out that attachment bolas and shotguns with acid is god-tier. With all 3+ damage upgrades you can down an enhanced with a direct close chest blast.

Telematry spikes kind of suck.... that or I am using it wrong.

shit opinion desu, just because a character is silent doesn't mean they can't have motives or a backstory.

>maybe i'll see a decent rebuttal as to why giving a silent character a voice is a bad idea, maybe user will be able to convince me to perceive this matter from a different point of view

>It just means your brain is for not seeing outside perspectives.
way to ruin any credibility you once, if ever, had

I wanted to use a spike shotgun build so badly, they do suck.

I think I went with a Stasis Force Gun and the Kinetic melee for spamming in close encounters.

no but in this specific case we're talking about Isaac
and what can we draw from Isaac after playing through the first game
1: he's an engineer
2: he cares about his girlfriend
3: ?

giving a character a voice makes it much easier to convey the emotions said character is feeling and thus makes it much easier for the player to realize the character's motives along with other things

Tip the telemetry spike with a diffraction torus to make a chaingun that stunlocks anything and everything.

For extra crowd control, use force gun with stasis coating to ragdoll and freeze entire groups.

Loved the game with some modding it looks like a 2014-5 game.

The Mobile's player character can be seen in Dead Space 2. Yeah, she got betrayed alright. She dead

>Fuck you and fuck your marker!

What did he mean by this?

None at all. Chapter names aren't mentioned by the game. It's possible that those are internal names, names taken from some guide or manual, or fan names.

>shitting on telemetry spikes
you don't know true pleasure until you've made a rivet machine gun

Dynamic lighting in video games always get me rock hard

.

A direct telematry spikes shotgun blast to the chest even with 3+ upgrades and acid does not kill a normal soldier cultist(though it can rip their knee caps if you target that area for an instant kill). Hell Telematry spike shotgun even has a rare chance of not blowing away necromorphs for some reason. That is why I sticked with Military engine shotguns and Bolas stickers + acid as my main while my secondary is a military engine automatic rifle with a plasma force gun + slow down as its secondary.

Yeah, shotguns and bola's are pretty much OP and do conserve ammo a lot.

bloodsuckers and snorks, and they do this in all 3 games. anyway you just proved the other user's points, you haven't played STALKER.

Can we all agree that Dead Space has 10/10 sound design?

If this doesn't sound like the world ending I don't know what does. youtube.com/watch?v=w3Luf2s8AiQ

This kind of make me want to jump back on DS3 and give telemetry spikes a second chance. Perhaps once I re-installed it again.

>Isaac becomes younger while Nicole becomes older

Maybe it was Isaac who died aboard Ishimura and Nicole is just so pants on head insane that she has merely imagined all these stories while she is sitting firmly in a loony bin on Earth.

That would be possible if the prequel movie didn't make all of this speculation silly.

>Character you can insert any sorta mindset into
VS
>Character who himself establishes his moods and motivations

So you cant anymore pretend that Isaac is either a scared wittle technician on a big scary ship or the embodiment of the god of war who wishes to see more carnage and who just laughs in his mind as he sees necros burn.

and i'm looking for the fucking ebin

also requesting ebin wallpaper

It's pretty sad they had to have that explained for them.

Very sad actually.

They pretty much made Isaac a normie who wans noh trabol come to think of it. Still one has to give credit where credit is due and I got to say that they did do a good job with the voice and the writing.

Dead Space 2 is fucking fun. It's even exhilarating at times.

>Who wans noh trabol

Dead space 4. Isaac is trapped in a planet sized ladder factory with necromorphs, he must now use martial arts and ladders to destroy necromorphs and escape.

I'm a big fan of this artist, everything he draws just makes me feel good and warm inside.

This game looks excellent when downscaled and runs at 60fps constantly even on a 780

man I request ebin

>Complaining about spoilers for an eight or ten year old game
And then user was a necromorph.

>Visiting a thread on Cred Forums about a game you are about to play for the first time

You have only yourself to blame.

...

I wish complaining about spoilers in a game over 5 years old made a rock fly through a person's window.

Don't worry. It's super fucking obvious that she's dead like an hour into the game. Anyone who doesn't realize that is a retard.

I'm working on my backlog, Anons. ;_;

Because those coke snorting yuppie morons who like to throw their money around were so certain that co-op/multiplayer is the future of gaming, and that it should be crammed into every videogame experience.

You have awakened the spirit of spurdo, you may wish 3 wishes.

>No killing
>No loving
>No more wishes
>No smoking
>No pets
>No ice cream on the roller coaster
>No own foods or beverages
>No life

No you're not, you're trawling Cred Forums and complaining about ancient spoilers. Fagomorph.

>Get to the end of DS1
>That long pause
>Just know it's gonna be a fucking screamer
>Turn off TV because fuck it
>Wait
>Wait
>Turn TV back on
>Game waited that exact amount of time for the screamer
>Made it worse on myself

It was fine except for that ghost mom part. The rest was just fine holy shit stop being a memetard.

I'll take no smoke, no ice cream on thunderbird and no more wishes.

You probably are one of those "worship batman as a kid/joker makes more sense as adult" edgememe lords. Go fuck yourself with your (tragic ending = masterpiece) bullshit.

Everything after Shock Jockey was twice as unfinished as everything prior.

Remember that single area of the game you can steal a gun, almost as if giving you a choice?

DS3 is not garbage like others are saying, although the opening sequence in the city environment is actual indeed garbage to the point of nausea. Everything after that is pretty enjoyable, albeit several massive steps down from DS2 which itself is some steps down from DS1.

Do play it, but don't expect much from it: that's the best advice I can give you about it.

Very well, your wish causes you to be born in Finland.
Have a nice day.

>Character you can insert any sorta mindset into
because ambiguous and flat characters are superior to characters who've had the time and care taken into developing their personalities, motives and other qualities, right

>a pretty civil discussion about dead space
This is a surprise.

>What?

>I want to buy pre-marinaded meat instead of making my own marinade

Not that i have anything against the peasants choice but, you know.

>waifus
>shit game
pick both usually,

Now post the one where they make up

Your mindset in the exotic situation is more developed than any horror franchise character's.

It's about immersion potential, dumbass.

Different user here, either the devs/writers lacked talent, or didn't take any time or care writing DS2+3 Isaac, or the character was butchered by executive meddling. Whatever the case, DS2+3 offer no evidence of any time and care spent developing a personality, motives, or other qualities. Isaac is still a shitty cipher, he just spouts inane bullshit, which makes him less appealing than when he kept his mouth shut in my opinion.

DUDE! DRUNK LMAOO!

seriously: I think she was dead all the time

Someone should make an edit with Isaac and Ellie shaking hands/being best friends while Nicole is being crossed out.

>I DECLARE THAT I LEFT MY PAST GIRL_FRIEND #NICOLE_BRENNAN .....Because she became very bad, Stalky, and those who shout at me. Attitude. I keep them under my Foot.... Huuuuhhhh....
>Now Ellie_Langford is my girl friend...... Its for information to all.

Buck had a hard life....

2 is very good but it's less tense and a bit faster so the clunkiness that made the game harder is gone
Still my favourite one though, you should totally play it

I played Doom 3 before I played this game, so that scare factor was reduced for me. I still like the game. It's a fun third-person shooter in it's own right.

Jesus Christ, your girlfriend on the left and your grandma on the right.

2 for me is the best one. It is a little less spooky but the story is well thought out and Isaac speaks which IMO is a huge improvement. It's a little more shooty as well as others have said.

It does however have the scariest moment in the entire trilogy so it's not without being a frightening game, it's just not as scary as 1 is.

3 is a good game, but it's objectively the weakest of the series. But if you still enjoy 2 there's no reason you won't see the merit and enjoyment behind DS3. It has like almost no scaryness to it but still a fair amount of tension. Good co-op though and the story is still solid, though the opening stuff isn't great. I love the whole trilogy personally.

If 1 and 2 are 9/10s then 3 is a 7.

Did you forget about me?

project harder
also while you're at it do go ahead and explain what's essentially left for Isaac?
he's for all intents and purposes finished his character arc so why not end the game there with an emotional climax

>It does however have the scariest moment in the entire trilogy

Which is? If you tell me it's the needle then I'm going to report you.

>i need my horror game characters to be blank slates in order to self-insert to the fullest
alright user

De aging Isaac was fine, since giving him a voice and taking off his helmet kind of suited for a redesign and making a more "attractive" character.

But aging up Nicole. Fucking why?

3. He resents his mother for wasting his education funds on Unitology
4. He hates Unitology for the above reason
5. He has a passion for engineering considering the amount of effort he put into obtaining scholarships to get into a university
6. Judging from his face expression at the beginning, he is annoyed by the bickering of Kendra and Hammond

i've only ever played and Beat Dead space 1. I own 2 and 3 but not really sure if I should play it, opinions?

>The devs were kinda fags
E L E C T R O N I C - A R T S

If you already own them, what's stopping you from trying them and deciding for yourself? Chronic external validation syndrome?

Play 2 delete 3

Bad reviews and the lack of a decent computer at that time.

Is 3 really that bad?

True horror kino.

>3. He resents his mother for wasting his education funds on Unitology
>4. He hates Unitology for the above reason
considering this information is obtained entirely through obscure text logs, i don't think this pertains to the whole character development for silent protags vs voiced protags argument in the case of isaac
>5. He has a passion for engineering considering the amount of effort he put into obtaining scholarships to get into a university
this goes without saying
you don't go into a profession that requires years of studying without conviction, so what's your point
>6. Judging from his face expression at the beginning, he is annoyed by the bickering of Kendra and Hammond
this is hardly consequential when defining Isaac as a character after playing through Dead Space, so again; what's your point?

The biggest reason to play 3 is if you kind of want to fuck around with the extensive gun modifications it lets you have as it gives you tons of options to fuck with necromorphs with your own made up powertools.

The space sequence is a cool part too, the beginning in the city is pretty trash.

>Is 3 really that bad?
Not him but the game is not really bad, it just loses a lot of the atmosphere and leaves you with human enemies at the beginning and a guns customization feature that definitely doesn't belong in a horror game
You also get to play during daylight once you get on the planet, suits are entirely cosmetic, plasma cutter is useless, story is a stretch including the whole Ellie and Isaac thing and the game ends with a cliffhanger that continues into the DLC..that ends with a cliffhanger
Coop is fantastic though

>plasma cutter is useless
Main reason to drop the game right there.

obviously entering the ishimura again

>WIIGCIPTTDDTGMI
Really makes you think...

About halfway through Dead Space 3 I managed to make a machinegun with like a 250 round magazine and every bullet caused enemies to slow. Because the universal ammo system automatically adjusts for magazine size of the current weapon, I had like 10,000 bullets in reserve.

It's not even really a game at that point.

Yeah it's a big turnoff
Necromorphs will just shrug your bullets off like you didn't even hit them, they won't even stumble or move if you shoot them on the limbs, making the plasma cutter a chore to use

>tfw Deadspace 4 is about earth being consumed by them bro moons.
>lets Isaac/new protag to explore speehs and derelict ships while having a ship of your own to fuck up/cripple them brother moons as a last act of humanity before they go extinct same as the aliens did 2 millions years ago.
>Visceral pretty much done their homework and let you explore every inch of every ship outside deep space and rewards you with a fair amount of scrap if you successfully explored a derelict ship.

Damnit, this is pretty much spacehulk warhammer lite if you think about it.
