I will never forget the shame of completely getting my ass raped here.

>optional superboss is smuggest being boss

Optional superbosses is probably one of my favorite things in vidya. I know most jrpgs have them, but are there any noteworthy one's from other genres?

Name 1 game where this happens
this too

>when he tries to use an item and his hands are so shaky he misses the target at first

Chrono cross and pokemon crystal.

Meat is ______

It's a shame there's so few games with secret areas and bosses, I want more Ash Lake/Moon Presence kind of shit in vidya

I don't think so. It's the only genre that fits superbosses.

Maybe some car racing games could have a superboss like challenge.

When I was a kid there was a giant hidden snail monster in the second Ratchet and Clank that you could only access through a gravity boot wall that was too early in the game for you to have them and when I found it I was so amped.

Illusion of Gaia

The problem is that super secret areas are honestly wasteful.

Why spend all that time and money making assets for an area that only 10% of the playerbase is going to experience?

Because as a developer it's fun to make something like that. You can be free of the usual limitations and just mess around with it a litte.

fat

juicy

Super Mario RPG where you fight Culex. I don't believe he's directly from a FF game, but he shares the style and they used the ff4 boss theme for him

Tales of Symphonia

>superboss is a random townsperson you can challenge near the end of the game

>secret superboss was hiding in your own soul

NIS games always have characters from their previous games show up as super bosses, after 20 years of this, it's weird to think this isn't common in other franchises. Cameos are fun.

>game has multiple superbosses

Undertale.

>NPC becomes superboss to rob you

Adventurer in Bravely Default.
Spent the whole game selling you shit and being a rest point in dungeons, then in a hidden room of an endgame dungeon he's standing there. Talk to him, and he'll jovially offer a battle, wherein he will bring the fox buddy you see around from time to time into battle as an ally, and together they will push your shit in unless you know exactly what you're doing. Which you probably won't the first time (kill him but leave the fox alive, and the fox will revive him at full HP), and even if you do he can still wreck you on a whim.

>The super boss isn't just a random cameo or randomly powerful character
>It's a plot-relevant boss

Fucking Duke from Vesperia

As for this Gaunter O'Dimm in Witcher 3.

Bump

the winner.

I thought the optional boss was Kratos?

Didn't the reverse trap end up winning?

Fucking gay boy anime.

Borderlands

Author didn't want either Sena or any other girl winning so he made Kodaka date the trap. And then they settled on just being friends.

I think it ends with all the girls finding their own circles and Kodaka being alone. Thanks author-san.

Is it so hard to write tripe like this? Jesus christ.

>Yukimura won

Haremfags must have been furious.

Nah, Kodaka was a total faggot. Sena point blank asks him if he will marry her as their parents agreed and he leaves the room feigning ignorance, if he did end up alone then fuck him, he earned it.

Literally every Tales game

The thing is that the MC 'ends up' with Yukimura, who's practically a background character with maybe sixty lines across all novels. The writer just shat on all his readerbase for shits and giggles. Interest for this pretty much died after that, and god nipland loved fapping to Sena. I've never seen an author dropping the ball so hard with these kind of things.

Wild ARMS 1 and 2, wew lad. 1's superbosses aren't that bad but 2's bosses will push your dick into your pelvis and out your asshole

>haremfags this BTFO
That's amazing.

When the nice NPC from the beggining town works his way up to an impressive title

>implying Yukimura isn't best girl

>Mikanfag

>superboss is a random encounter

Fuck this shit.

I haven't even watched to love ru.

Soul Hackers

DDS

SMT: DDS
You can find SMT3 protag in a secret room and he's notoriously difficult if not outright impossible to beat.

>puzzle RNG boss
Fucking japs.

Xillia 1 wants a word with you

Alright, alright, alright.

stop lying, you wouldn't even know who mikan was and who the hell the user was talking about it if you haven't seen the anime

>people can't learn about a series from all the porn

There's multiple super bosses, including more in the PS3 version, but Duke is the "collect all secret weapons" one

Both Bayonettas

>super boss is a character that'll appear next game
I hate your super bosses KH but damn are they executed just right.

>optional secret superboss only appears during a certain weather, hiding in the smoke of a volcano
>it's an eldritch abomination

>Haganai will never get a season 3
>we will never get Sena x Yozora catfights ever again

Just kill me already ;_;

Golden Sun's Tempest Lizard only appears if you invoke rain inside of a very specific tornado.

Getting the Tempest Lizard isn't that difficult or secret.

Getting to Crossbone Isle before Tempest Lizard, THAT'S the secret that sounds up
>there's a secret area with a super dungeon and a bunch of super bosses and some of the best loot
>you can get there early by choosing four specific people to row your ship in the correct order

Fucking Emerald Weapon FFVII
