I'm just about to finish P5. It's a hard call to make between this and P5, obviously P5 being the console release is the bigger and more polished game with a lot more stuff to it. But the latter half just feels a bit rushed. SMT4F though has exactly the atmosphere that I enjoy in a SMT game (like a perfect mix of soul hackers and nocturne).

Overall, I really liked SMT4F I'd personally give it a 9/10 considering that it's a handheld release.

As for P5 I'd place it between 3 or 4 no matter which one you prefer. For me the most impressive thing aside from all the battle related improvements and mechanics is the art style. It's really a blast just looking at the interface, the portraits and the Tarot cards. The game is absolutely beautiful and it easily blows away a so called "AAA" title on a photo-realistic engine.

I bought it on play asia and it got delivered 2 days after release. ~40 bucks more expensive than what a localized release would cost but totally worth it.

SMT 2 is a mixed bag 3 is good bag 4 is good
Devil Survivor 1 is good 2 is perfect
Strange Journey is just okay
Persona 1 and 2 are good 3 and 4 are just okay
Persona spinoff games are all shit

My honest opinion.

The really old ones are ok but you gotta be able to put up with some bullshit.

Devil Survivor is ok as a SRPG/SMT game.

Strange Journey is probably my favorite but I love most games Lancarse put out

Digital Devil Saga has a fantastic everything EXCEPT for the gameplay which IMO is the worst in the series.

P1 and 2 are ok. Just avoid the american release of 1 because they fucked up the encounter rate to make the game "easier" so naturally the game gets really hard later on because you just don't have enough fucking XP. US release of P2 is superior though because of shades hitler.

P3 and 4 aren't very good. Combat is around as bad as DDS except it's also a lot easier (in p4, p3 around the same) so even if you're completely braindead at JRPGs you can still beat them easily. I wouldn't say anything in these games is better than mediocre though.

Persona Q is pretty pathetic. It's more like mainline games in terms of structure but the gameplay is even farther from them than persona. Also it's super unbalanced so enjoy using robutt and best boy(girl) to auto win basically fucking everything.

Jack Bros is the best game ever and completely deserved to be the first megaten game in the west. Make sure to play it on it's original system too.

Oh I like 1 a lot too. Its gets the feel fucking perfect. You actually feel like a guy whose just trapped. Everyone's reactions and actions are perfect. Then it forms into the standard SMT shit very fluidly.

Its t he game play that keeps it from being perfect. 2 was much better in that regard.

To be honest it focused to much on the game play. One of the reasons I love SMT is the story. I love all the mythos and how they smush it all together. SJ had a fucking wonderful premise but it felt very off and on. You get a quick burst of story then its off to wander the halls for hours on end. The game play is great its just I wish they would of done more with it story wise.

Mywifesona 5 still has shit tier gameplay even if they stole some superficial aspects from the main series such as the law/chaos stuff and the devils.

Then we have also salty vitaniggers crying but the localization team made a mistake and added a Zero, rofl, can you believe that? dhit game 0/10. And there is also missing one line if you happen to get your team partner killed in battle! I mean, yes, they will fix it in a day one patch, but we the pirates are mising one single line of text! catastrophic! I love my vita!
