Segami is actually my favorite Nep. She's literally Sega.inc, being bull headed and is bossy in getting what she wants. She doesn't resort to boring old 'Plutia mad and goes SM mode', but instead she uses blackmail, physical threat, sleigh of hand, setup, persuasion and reality distortion field to get what she wants out of SeHa and Neps.

Segami really would do just about anything to get the Neps to make nice with SeHa so that the canon bad end to the world of Sega wouldn't happen. I really do like that about her. No other Nep is this tryhard and this serious business.

Iffy's role in the game is way closer to the importance she's had in the RB1, where she acts as the straightman and counterbalance, except now it's a three-way act between her, the ever goofing off Nep and the outright steamroller that is Segami.

Since Nep isn't really weighted down with protagonist things at all, the story is driven much more by Segami, and Iffy acts to dampen both of them and to be that skeptical voice over what Segami would do to 'fix the world'. Iffy is actually pretty laid back, so she's only bothered mostly with Segami's utter lack of justification or adequate explanation with just about anything that she's doing.

Iffy's not like Histy in that she's not Nep's nanny and she isn't the world's everything. The three way dynamic between her, Nep and Segami as such isn't like Histy laying out ground rules at all. It's a fair bit of bants, and I like that personally.

It's funny. I am unironically talking about the game and you lot suddenly have nothing to say.

Nep has the most significant role of all the SeHa and Neps featured in the game, although she's definitely not the protag. Neptune's laziness and pathetic display outright infuriates and disappoints Sega to the point that she'd want to train up Nep so as to not be an outright embarrassment, with Nep really taken aback by how far Sega would go.
(Sega didn't approach it like with Tsundere Noire helping Nep. No, she's the ruthless manager that's doing one-on-one coaching, with that kind of "don't you fuck me up" mentality)

Nep actually complains about her treatment by both Iffy and Segami. The game really takes off when Nep comes along as it's no longer just a case of Iffy trying to hold down the Segami bulldozer by her lonesome. Nep provides the comedy relief antics this time around, without doing any of the "pretend to be retarded" ruse that you see her pulling in V-II.

All in all, a pretty decent characterization of her that doesn't really trivialize Neptune.

Only difference is that you fight that big bad history eater as if it's a less brutal trillion and that you get clone copies of the Neps that you could use initially (replace with the real McCoy later on)

I don't really care if people want to play it on PC. If I didn't want a third game to justify my PSTV purchase a year ago, then I would probably be planning on playing it on PC myself.

Does elemental damage matter at all in these games? I've only played RB1 and part of Noire so far, and it seems like elemental attacks generally do less damage than non elemental ones.

Sort of. The plant-type eneimes are usually weak to fire, majority of enemies inside a volcano dungeon are weak to ice, and avion/aqautic enemies are weak to electric attacks.

But in the grand scheme of things, no they don't actually matter.

Out of boredom I decided to replay some of the original Neptunia for ps3. After playing it for a few hours it really makes me grateful for rb1. I forgot just how long one fucking battle took and how terrible the dungeons were. Or the fact that you fought Noire like 5 times.

I think a future Nep game should go back to the original's combat system. From what I've seen, it's not a bad system itself, just super slow.

Just add in on-screen enemies as opposed to random battles, speed up the pace of the battles, make skills not require RNG and you have a pretty good combat system.

I would say yes, but it really depends on what you expect out of RPGs.

If you expect new dungeons to explore and innovative gameplay, then maybe not.

If you enjoy funny meme characters that will grow on you, then yeah.

Personally, I enjoyed the gameplay, stories, and characters/jokes. Gameplay isn't all THAT bad. It's far more engaging than the standard Final Fantasy-style ATB turn-based system. You have relatively free movement on the battlefield, different types of regular attacks, SP and EXE gauge skills, etc.

Anyway, the main problem with the games is that they reuse assets - A LOT. You will travel through dungeons that look exactly the same a lot. If that doesn't bother you, then go for it.

The reused assets didn't bother me, but come on. I've never seen a game reuse assets as much as Neptunia does. You will find yourself exploring the same dungeon under a different name multiple times just within the same game.
