It's not that people hate him, it's that he is kind of a push-over as a prosecutor. Like, its cool that he doesn't need development to become a truthfag, but it ends up feeling like he is holding Apollo's hand through a lot of the trials, especially near the ends if I remember correctly.

He just makes for a sort of underwhelming opponent, especially since he is barely even remotely antagonistic towards Apollo anyways.

Heres a shitty pitch for AA7.

Phoenix Wright and Athena faces Court-Martial, a court where feelings are disregarded. Most of your clients and suspects are people pushed way their breaking point in the line of duty. Rival Prosecutor is a giang bulking man with distant eyes. Moves almost like a robot, precise and direct during his trials. When he tries to joke around its a very very dry humour. Disregards almost entirely Athena and her psychology shit. When Athena first meets him and tries to use the mood matrix she can only capture a constant droning sound.
Eventually learn that feelings are important after all and asks Athena to realize one of her typical therapy sessons or whatever new gimmick the team can think.
