Huh. Heady is a game that comes across as sort of deep now. I wonder if there is more about it.

...

When you beat the game you realize it was all a stage threater thing. Secret Boss is the director(or whatever) throwing money at you

And the japanese and west versions are different, like some bosses look different

Are there anymore games like this where levels are actually stages from a studio lot?

Mario 3

shut up

There's not a single mushroom in SMB2 besides toad

What the hell are you picking up in the dream potion world to get more hearts?

Care to explain yourself?

Kung Fu Chaos

Those are blocks.

Ape Escape 3 had backstage areas you could access which had props and shit from the levels they were in. The areas themselves were real though.

Two of them aren't.

2deep4me

I think those are just fuckups in the tiling of the background though

lying fuck

well the final boss is also in the real world. You can see the city out his window, and you need to enter a keycode you get from the basketball levels to access his room. He just cares about making money and using headdy and the other puppets for entertainment

Home Improvement for SNES.

The final boss is the fat guy from Animaniacs?

...

The Cutting Room Floor found tons of untranslated text in Final Fantasy III, implying that there were going to be more scenes that expanded on the party's personalities:
tcrf.net/Final_Fantasy_III_(Nintendo_DS)/Unused_Text

I would play the fuck out of this.

Hidden Palace Zone was originally meant to be where the player gets teleported to after getting all seven emeralds. Super form would then be claimed here.
It was brought back as a secret act in the 2013 rerelease.

>He's offering money to you in hopes that you will forget how badly you were treated on set.

Mario Party DS collectibles go into detail about some of the board features and the characters. A few fun facts:

Dry Bones is said to have learned the spell to turn DK to stone from Kamek

Some of the stuff in Toadette's music room was given to her by Princess Peach

(Putting the pinball machine stuff in its own post since it lets me talk about the Bowsers)

Bowser Jr., Kamek and Bowser jointly made the pinball machine.

Also, it describes their playstyles: Bowser controls the right bumper and plays recklessly while Junior controls the left and plays strategically. This setup makes sense when you realize that Junior is canonically left-handed.

The "Bowser sign" collectible reveals that Junior made it and describes him as persnickety.

On a related note, Junior is said to have tried the "Wheel of Wonder" (a betting minigame) eight times while Bowser never uses it.

Kamek and Bowser Jr. have little character quirks mentioned in the game: Junior is said to have a "lonely side", while Kamek is implied to be photogenic or to dislike his appearance. These were seemingly the basis for the characters interactions with their counterparts in Paper Jam.

Seriously? I thought it was really weird that they gave the party designs and names but never really did too much with them personality wise, so seeing this now just seems surreal.

>that discussion while Mini where Ingus suggests everyone stay in the back row and focus on black magic
This kind of shit would have been nice when I played the game blind as a kid.

>the Bowsers
>s

Bowser & Junior

Yeah. Then again, the final fantasy 7 page leads me to believe Square does this sort of thing often.

...

COULD MARIO 64 BE A POST-APOCALYPTIC EARTH WHERE POLLUTION HAS DESTROYED EARTH?

Raising the ship made the place less haunted or something. I don't know.

Fortune Street has dialogue for the majority of the Mario characters which gives us some insight as to their personalities. Mario, for example, is happy and cheerful, but occasionally greedy and (in some games) hot-blooded.

The same game also implies that Bowser Jr. and Diddy have a rivalry (if implied onesided since Diddy sounds more annoyed then angry) This is never brought up in any other games, in spite of some spinoffs such as Mario Party 2 suggesting that Donkey Kong and Bowser are rivals.

For some bizarre reason, Birdo has bad chemistry with Peach, yet good chemistry with Daisy

That game's dialogue for everyone seemed out of place, but it did have some fun exchanges.

>Waluigi: First Luigi, and now [Mii name]? They'll invite anybody to these things!
Luigi: Look who's talking!

>Birdo has bad chemistry with Peach, yet good chemistry with Daisy

Because only the second one of these things is a woman

Dr. Crygor claims to have built Wario's car. If true, this is one of few aspects of Warioware to appear in most series Wario is involved with (Mario spinoffs, Wario Land and)

Captain Syrup being a woman is meant to be a plot twist, the manual uses gender neutral words.

This also makes Syrup the first female Mario villain, predating Cackletta and the Shadow Queen.

The semi-perfect ending in Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land is the canon one, doubling as a callback to Super Mario Land 2 (where Wario stole Mario's Castle.)

Wario was never treated seriously in Japan, instead being portrayed as a bumbling, greedy treasure hunter with none of the sinister air his american counterpart had. This is why Wario has all the transformations in the Wario Land games and why his moveset in Smash is so weird.

people probably think im joking, but that's genuinely one of the most interesting things in gaming to me. And I didnt know about it until 10 years after the game was out

>FF3DS is so old people grew up with it
fuck me I didn't need that

the spirit mediums in lavender town's tower were possesed by ghost pokemon, hence the fact that they grunt you instead of talking to you before the fight
you were basically exorcising them

HEY BABY I HEAR THE BLUES A-CALLIN'

If it helps, I generally think of my younger teen years as my childhood so I only played it in early highschool.

I'm 25, the aged feeling is hitting me too.

A minor obscure trivia bit regarding obscure games

Evolution:World of Sacred Device and Evolution 2: Far Off Promise were ported on one disk to the Gamecube as Evolution Worlds. The second game made it more-or-less intact, but the first game all of its dungeons removed (instead recycling layouts from the bonus dungeon in the second game), and a number of cutscenes and bosses removed. The final dungeon was also gutted, leaving only a few encounters and three bosses.

Sting Entertainment, the company behind the game, made several other games including Rivera: The Promised Land, Treasure Hunter G and even The Jetsons: Invasion of the Plunder Pirates

The Snes Flintstones game has unused music. According to Dean Evans, who worked on music for the game, the four tracks he contributed to the game were simply unused tracks from other games that he had.

Batman Returns and The Adventures of Batman and Robin had completely original music for their Sega CD versions

Both were composed by Spencer Nilsen who was responsible for a number of Sega CD games' soundtracks, including Sonic CD, though the latter's uploader credits Burke Trieschmann who composed for games such as Toejam and Earl III

Play the translated Japanese version.

Except that's a lie, I've replayed through up to this point specifically to MythBust this, and the fog does re-appear when you re-enter the first star. Whoever made this is fucking stupid.

Try it for yourselves you fucking loons.

What levels used the green cave and underwater city skyboxes?

Bowser's Flagship first appeared in the opening to Super Mario Galaxy. In spite of this, Bowser's airship went through numerous redesigns for New Super Mario Bros Wii

Bowser's Koopa Clown Car had a slight redesign in the original Paper Mario:It's eyes were permanently angry and the eye marks were different. Following the reboot, the Clown Car now looks like its normal counterpart.

On that note, Mario Party's 1-8 used the original "Paper Mario" design.

Bowser has had six flying castles as now; Three in Mario & Luigi, two in Paper Mario and one in Yoshi's Island DS. Of the three in Mario & Luigi, only one was not named Neo Bowser Castle.

Counting all of the continuities, there have been five Death Egg IIs (Sonic the Comic, Sonic 4, Sonic The Fighters and both pre and post reboot Archie).

There are two different Star Rods in the Mario series

Star Hill has appeared in three different Mario RPG series: Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario (Japanese) and Mario & Luigi. In the case of the latter two, they are both located to the north of Peach's Castle.

Somehow cancelled the pic.

I did when I last played, the image is correct.

Shiggy was a producer for Eternal Darkness.

(Still Impressive)

Kamek and Bowser see each other as father and son.

first bowser level i think

not sure about the city.

Bowser in the Dark World
Wet Dry World

Peach killed Birdo's dreams...or rather she killed lots of Birdos in her dreams...

Makoto from Danganronpa looked infinitely more badass in the beta than the final release.

...

The Koopa Troop leaders seem to have motifs regarding urban locations: Bowser has carnivals (Bowser Land, Bowser Land 2.0, Bowser's Enchanted Inferno) and Bowser Jr. prefers casinos (Junior Street/Bowser Jr. Boulevard, his boss minigame in Mario Party 9 is luck based on a loosely "casino" based board) and the Koopalings are hinted to like raves (Mario Kart 8)

On a similar note, Bowser Jr. is implied to have an affinity for the sky: He is commonly found on airships or towers, his constant usage of the Junior Clown Car and his track in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX takes place on an artificial road held up by airships. In spite of this, Paper Mario Sticker Star is the only game to portray him as owning his own airship (complete with Banzai Bill Blaster)

Bowser has targeted two other kingdoms aside from the Mushroom Kingdom: In Yoshi's Safari, he and the Koopalings attacking Jewelry Land, Kidnapping Prince Pine and King Fret. In Super Mario 3D World, he conquered the Sprixie Kingdom and shoved the seven rulers into bottles.

Peach helps defeat Ward and disband the 8-Bits in SMB2, leaving Birdo and her familiars out of a job. Peach also fights Birdo in her next appearance, SMRPG.

Daisy never did shit to Birdo.

We don't want the weebs to feel inadequate now do we?

You're forgetting Super Mario Bros 3, where he, his troops, and his offspring take over 7 other kingdoms.

On an emulator or native hardware?
It didn't disappear for me on native hardware or the wii u edition

I would say that just DISTRUST leftovers

In fact, Birdo was Daisy's tennis partner in Mario Tennis 64. They go way back.

Wii version

>dem Bayo proportions

Kek, I thought that was Hifumi's job?
That's actually a good point, Distrust was going to be far more serious and brutal.

That was just a play though.

THAT'S JUST A THEORY

>every day i want to die

That character in no way looks badass... you weeb faggot

I chose instances where he specifically didn't kidnap Peach.

Time for Clown Car Lore (also, will turn in after this)

Bowser's Clown Car is portrayed with a microphone that doubles as a magic wand in Super Mario Adventures.

The Junior Clown Car is shown, in Mario Party 9, to have "shells" it can slot into, just like the Egg Mobile. This aspect is only seen in that game though.

Bowser's Clown Car is shown, in Mario Party 9, to have Bullet Bill Blasters and a mouth laser.

The blasters also appeared in the intro to Mario Golf Toadstool Tour.

Mario Party 9 is the first game where Bowser and Junior use their Clown Cars onscreen together. Puzzle and Dragons is the second game.

In Super Smash Bros, Junior's Logo can be seen on some of the Clown Car's attachments such as the kart engine. It can even be made out in the CG Trailer.

I meant that he looked significantly better. Really don't understand why they scrapped the initial design.

Probably to look more "average".

In Kirby 64 the ice world Shiver Star is actually Earth in the midst of an ice age or a global nuclear winter where humanity has been wiped out and you go through factory ruins where there are only robots still working. You can clearly make out the American continents from this image.

...

There is only one America bitch nigga

Peach is cute.

I lied, one more for miscellaneous villain transports

The Mega Man 3 iteration of the Wily Saucer is the only one to carry the good doctor's logo.

The Mega Man 8 iteration is the only one to pull double duty as a Wily Capsule (although some Wily Machines do incorporate it).

In the Mega Man cartoon, the Mega Man 4 Wily Machine was used for the Doctor's transport.

SATAM and Sonic Underground are the only cartoons where Robotnik lacks a Egg Mobile, in spite of the comics version having one.

the AOSTH and Sonic Boom Egg Mobiles have sidecars for Robotnik's minions.

Metal Sonic's vehicles seems to follow motifs based on his appearance in Heroes. The exception is the Metal Carrier which is designed to look like Sonic

The Pac-Man ghosts were first shown using a ghost mech in the final level of Pac-Man arrangement. this is repeated for the final boss of Pac-Man Remix and their boss fights in Pac-Man World 2.

Okay, that's all for tonight.

Really glad I took the time to coalesce all those thoughts, thanks

Buster Busts Loose does it, the final stage is based on Star Wars and when you beat Plucky Vader the staff starts removing the background scenery revealing a studio set.

...

Just an art style. Paper Mario is canon too, even though it's a story book.

Nothing nuclear involved, it was climate change and the people left.

>hurrr i rip them myself donut steel

Why is mario fanbase so autistic. It almost rivals that of sonic, ALMOST.

Does on my native hardware. I noticed it way back when, I think on my second playthrough.

Who gives a fuck, fag.

It's less the fanbase and more the community of sprite rippers/artists.

For some pieces it can take a shitload of effort to rip every frame of an animation but they do it anyways. So someone else using sprites that you ripped without credit is kind of a dick move.

Not saying they're not autists, but it's kind of an appreciation of effort kind of deal.

Sprite communities are some of the last bastions of "Make cool things because you want people to know you make cool things" on the internet.

It's more about the autistic way they put it more than anything, just say "ripped by: " and be done with it, almost everyone I've seen wants to give a speech about it which ends up pretty cringe.

Would have been cool to find yourself here after the special stage instead of the zone you were in. Some kind of quick transformation sequence to unlock Super Sonic would have also been cool. Why was this cut, time constraints? Programming issues?

That looks more like a goomba but holy shit!

In SMRPG, the reason why Punchinello's line is what it is, is because his original name was James Bomb. But due to copyright laws they had to change it.

STANDING
OOOON THE EEEEDGE
OOOOF THE CRAAATEEEER

That's literally the plot for Dynamite Headdy: The entire world of puppets is being sold out by SoJ's president. They even have you fight him if you get all of the numbers in the basketball minigame. When you reach the ending demo? That was the last show unless you go to his office and beat him.

This was Treasure's way of telling SoJ's president he was a piece of shit by throwing money away (SoA and SoJ's infighting is well-documented) with the 32X.

The level wasn't finished before release.

Clearly, but was it because the idea was dropped, or because they didn't have time to finish it?

...

that's the most boring crap of the thread.

that's right, but two american continents

Having watched Frasier reruns on channel 4 for 28 years of my life, I only learned this year, 2016, that Kelsey Grammar sings the ending song. I might be retarded.

many of these are just silly and paranoid
>WOAAH A SPIDERWEB HAS MANY REFERENCES IN THE GAME
>ALMOST LIKE... ITS COMMONLY USED AS AN ORNAMENT DESIGN ON WINDOWS AND DOORS

i wonder how long this loss edit has been circulating

there are only 2 "real"spider webs that are hidden ont he map and only appear at night for an hour. did you even read the image, retard?

...

yeah but its meaningless. pointless detail is not uncommon, you are looking for meaning in spider webs existing in a fucking game where it despawning could just be a fucking bug

Is this loss?

That fucking tossed salad and scrambled eggs boss fight
>Think ive finally beaten them
>Ahhhhhhaha
>They come again
mfw

Bowser owns an Airship in the first Superstar Saga

if you dont think the fact that there are only 2 spider webs across the entire GTA5 map and that they only appear for an hour is interesting, that's on you.

Which is really funny when other games like Segagaga treated America like the problem.

You're talking about the same game where there was a secret that was so goddamn complex the literal only way anyone would have ever figured it out was by looking through the code. GTA does that kind of shit all the time.

>pointless detail is not uncommon

what? there are only 2 webs found in the entire game
do do you even know the definition of uncommon?

Some of the shit people have discovered how to activate using such obscure shit is insane

Who knows if it's left over of a conspiracy thing they planned on adding or what, but if any of it led to anything, it would be datamined by now.

>that Bulldog boss fight

just stop looking.

tested this on wii u virtual console. Fog only disappeared forever when I got the first star. I got a different star at first and reselected that same star and the fog was still there.

Literally disappears only when you get the first star.

even if there is no solvable mystery, there are still many interesting things to find. More so than most other games

>stop looking for interesting things in a thread about interesting things

Final Fantasy X was a huge thematic shift for the series because it started life as an original project by the art director.

It looked like one of those early 90s sci-fi fantasy series, and it was cool as fuck.

>DID YA FIGURE OUT THE PUZZLE?!?!!?

>DID YA GET IT?!!?!!?!?

does metroid take place before or after mushroom kingdom era?

BUT ITS ONLY A THEORY
A GAY THEORY

Funfact: The Buzzy Beetle wannabes have six legs...just like the Spike Tops from SMW.

Well neither of those grow to become badass rotating flying tank turtles of facefucking

Game Theory:
Every single video game actually takes place in a crazy metaverse called 'Reality', where 'Companies' program and develop each world and all of the inhabitants, who are unaware that they are inside of video games

Whoa... really makes you think...

The song "Snake Eater" in MGS3 is The Boss's message to Snake during their final battle.

She wants to eat his snake?

...

Batman killed the Joker by tossing him off the roof on the well known NES game that seemingly nobody seem to had finished.

Many people think 1st gen Pokemon is the only game where you don't get free Pokeballs. You can but it required you defeating your rival without having more than one caught Pokemon in your dex (so no evolving the starter) and without buying/picking up a Pokeball which there is one in the forest.

Protoman from Megaman died from basically Robot cancer which is why he didn't appear in Megaman X. Zero is seen on the same game this was explained and Bass was just basically a prototype of him.

Pink Panther video game for the Genesis.

>Protoman from Megaman died from basically Robot cancer

He was a prototype and his power unit was faulty. Protoman was basically a walking nuke which eventually exploded between MM and MMX.

Yea, the thing is he could had easily gotten it fixed. He just choose not to for whatever reason. I never got deep into the Megaman X series or the other spin off games. Did they even reference him at any point? Possibly where he may had exploded?

Didn't Dr. Light replace his core at some point with something more stable when repairing him? I know he eventually died due to that core failing because he was too paranoid to let Light work on him any more, afraid that Light would remove his free will, but I don't know about him creating an explosion.

IIRC, getting it fixed would have meant he would have to be rebooted or reset or something and was afraid that whatever that would "wake up" from being fixed wouldn't be him anymore.

He was faulty before MM3 when Dr Wily repaired him with a nuclear powered battery (Which is why he was in his debt in MM3 but it's never explained because MM3 is an incomplete load). He's stable now
.

The artist of that Mario comic has done character designs for another game series.

It was a JRPG called Samsara Naga, which is about being a dragon tamer.

Not like that, but Ratchet and Clank 3 has a studio level.
