Story is told through audio logs

>story is told through audio logs

>presidential campaign is fought through frogs

>find your first audio log
oh cool
>maintenance log 3/5 found

>Story is told from the party menu

>story is told through cutscenes

>Press start/esc to pause cutscene
>Skips cutscene instead

This is "stop hitting yourself, the election".
Someone should remind her that this is the potus election, not FF2.

>story is told

>story is told through text

expecting me to read all that shit

Ok, but if you had a skittle that made a frog meme, wouldn't you launch an all out attack on the evil megacorp that is Mars Inc?

>story is told through 20 minutes worth of cutscenes all in text

>audio logs placed so that they constantly overlap normal dialogue

I would just eat the skittle.

dumb frogposter

>the way to proceed in the game is told by the log #324

>pick up audio log
>instantly starts playing
>loud as fuck although the sound is already turned down
>overhear everything else
>can't stop the audio log
>audio log goes on for 1-2 minutes
>nothing useful or story related learned from it

Motherfucking dead island

Its actually the first log in the game
you find the first 2 later on

>story is told through the boss who also tells you how to defeat him
more like "stop shitting yourself"

>story is told through books

Alright, now imagine that that skittle you just ate was an illegal. Would you either b*mb the Wh*te Ho*se, or m*rder ele*en p*lice off*cers with daddy's g*n?

>cutscene begins in a crowded area
>cant hear shit because crowd will not shut up.

>audio log placed right before thing that cancels audio log
>have to just stand there and wait for it to end so I don't miss anything

Why i would stop eating skittles at any given point?

>finding collectibles is the only way to upgrade items/abilities

Because you have to vote for Bernie but you then realise that skittles are private property. Do you continue to eat sugary treats, or do you attempt to rid yourself of all material possessions

>THEY'RE OUTSIDE I CAN HEAR THEM
>I JUST HOPE I CAN GET THESE FINAL WORDS IN BEFORE THE HYPHEN APPEARS AND-

>Game has a story

>Story is told through item descriptions
>People claim it's the greatest game story ever

I am technically speaking ridding myself out of material possessions by eating skittles.

...

>SYSTEM SHOCK 2 REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

kek

I prefer audio logs that don't obstruct gameplay rather than cutscenes every 15 minutes.

>portable record players in MY 1912

>need to use a ingame player to hear the audio logs
>you need to hear the audio logs to progress in the game

kek

>Americans
A literal meme nation

>imblying i even wanted a story

That little kid looks like he thinks he's in charge

>story is told through the website datalog

>blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah, door code is 3917, blah bla-

Audio logs are some of the most immersion breaking things I've ever seen

>have to believe people record themselves this often
>have to believe this many people record themselves
>have to believe they leave their recordings out in the open almost always
>have to believe they leave their recordings in usually relevant places to the recording just incase a protagonist of a video game happens to pick one up
>have to believe you have some audio log reader on you always

There is suspension of disbelief and then there is get the fuck out. It's just the easiest ticket to get out of writing a story I've ever seen in my life. Fuck audio logs.

>story is

>Press start/esc to skip cutscene
>Pauses cutscene instead

Very few stories I can actually tolerate in games.

I don't know how someone can claim trash stories like Blazblue are must reads.

>story is told through dialogue

meh i depends.
MK9 story mode feels fine.
not even good but it's nice to have some lore.

The Division did this for their first DLC. This shit reeks of lazy development.

I absolutely hated that.
Completely pointless dialogue NOBODY cares about.
I skipped them every time.

agreed. not only was it pointless, the audio was muffled and hard to understand. not sure if the developer expected us to read subtitles while we're engaged in combat, but it came off as poorly executed and something they should've ran by testers before releasing.

>audio log is in a place where if you pick it up it will get cancelled upon doing any movement over poorly planned trigger
>no way to hear it ever again if cancelled

Fuck you too Borderlands, couldn't include a fucking audio journal log in the 21st century

Holy shit! It's CIA when he was a child!

That shit is so dumb

>story is told through static character portraits or portraits with very little animation.

Digimon cyber story I'm looking at you.

>story is told through outside the game material

>Pieces of a journal/log

I like some story in games but fuck reading journals or logs that you collect in the game

>pick up audio log
>immediately jumped by 10 enemies
>can't hear shit
>can't read subtitles because you have to fight
nice

>Not Clayton, not Clayton!

How do we fix the horror genre lads, it has always been total aids

>Story is told by two characters slowly walking forward
>You have to walk with them

>story is told symbolically through metaphorical game mechanics

what non-Russian games do this?

>you don't walk at the same pace, but slightly faster.

>Black guy man records an audio log expressing his disdain for his treatment by white people in like 1920
>leaves it out in the only open locker

>Story is told through item descriptions
>It's considered one of the greatest videogame stories ever

>Story is told throughout the whole game as a movie with quicktime events

watch out one is a terrorist or something, I dunno, I'm not sure I like this brave new world of terrible meme-based policy

>story isn't told at all and you have to read pages and pages of an in game encyclopedia
Thanks ff13

Stick of Truth has an audio log on an alien spaceship that is essentially this post, the logs are just a guy wondering why he's leaving audio logs around when he should be quiet and trying to escape

I ll take dark souls for 100 dollars alex

>Game essentially invents audio logs
>Audio doesn't match up with text
I love SS1 but man was that shit annoying

fucking bioshock

>hillaryfags on suicide watch

>story is told through flavor texts on item descriptions

>story is told through anime

>story is told during the loading screens so you don't realize how long they are

what a time to be alive

>it's long as hell
