Objectively, I would say it's about 6 or 7/10.

My favorite game is objectively utter shit that no one likes, so as an experience, I enjoyed it a whole lot. Unfortunately, the fan base did ruin it quite a bit for me, but now that the tumblr fanbase has calmed down with it and Japan got a hold of it and are starting to make cute arts, I'm starting to appreciate it again. Hard Mode Pacifist lets you fight for your soul back from Chara and lets you save Asriel

Hard Mode Genocide has a real fight for Mettaton NEO and more Gaster lore (including a fight post-sans).

These are the 2 things I would want out of Hard Mode.

But I'd be cool with Hard Mode being forever just a joke if TOBY WOULD ACTUALLY MAKE THE DOG FIGHT. Like I can accept Gaster being a joke at cut content and Hard Mode just a joke of unfinished features (I mean, it says in game that it will likely never be finished). But Dog Fight not being finished is pure bullshit. On top of requiring you to do some tough shit to unlock the room for it, the game FLAT OUT SAID that Toby would patch it in at a later date. Then the faggot went and changed the dialogue to make it sound like it'll never be done. That fight never being implemented really makes me feel like the game will forever be unfinished.

The game took you on a journey. It wasn't as long as any of the old classics, it had some anime humour and perhaps some awkward dialogue, but it had a red thread that was woven through the game mechanics and the narrative.

Taking the Mercy route, almost each fight had its own twist. It never felt like grinding unless you went genocide, at which point the grinding aspect became part of the plot. That's genius. It deconstructed RPG enemies as the psychological other and gave Monsters a more humane feeling, which was cool. After playing a gazillion RPGs you start to wonder why you have to mindlessly slaughter everything in sight, this gave you a different option.

It's really not a bad game. It is the best game of all time? Which game is? It comes down to your tastes, which is what people express when they say the like or dislike it, I guess. If you can't get over the anime style humour, the off-the-wall characters or the genderbender thing because you're easily butthurt over it, then you will hate this game. But for ideological reasons, not for reasons that are inherently the games fault. This goes both ways.

I hate anime. It's loud, obnoxious, melodramatic, and doesn't possess subtlety. Somehow I still found that Undertale was a great experience and well worth it's money. I liked it, but it's just another Earthbound-like indie game when you get down to it. The only real standout parts were the OST and Omega Flowey.

Out of all the characters, only really Toriel and Asriel stand out. Not sure how anyone could like the skeletons, Mettaton, or Alphys. Undyne is alrightish, I liked her more when I didn't see her face but I don't have any major problems with her. Asgore is fine, but most of his best parts were before meeting him.

Toriel has the advantage of being the only real character in the demo, making her the face of Undertale until the full game released. Asriel has a lot of screen time as well, with a tragic backstory and great epilogue dialogue.

Common misconception. Most monsters have their souls die the moment they turn to dust, so it's impossible to take them like a boss soul or a human soul. Alphys figured out that determination is what allowed human souls to persist outside the body, so she figured injecting it into monsters would let their souls persist after death too. That way, monsters could begin harvesting their own kind when they fall into comas for SOUL power and eventually obtain enough to break the barrier without needing more human souls.

She wasn't trying to keep them alive, she wanted them to die. Them coming back to life from comas with a 100% fatality rate was a happy accident that made her a hero, only for her experiment to backfire again and turn the people she "saved" into freaks unable to die. This is why she's depressed to the point of nearly attempting suicide.

Did you do the genocide run?

It's established that a large portion of what Flowey into what he was wasn't the inability to feel love (he *can* feel emotion, just not empathy), but his resets and the limitations of the underground. And even then it's implied that it took a really fucking long time for Flowey to exhaust all the possibilities in the underground.

Only thing Flowey can't feel are the things that he lost with his soul, which are Love, Compassion and Empathy according the the Library. Everything else is fair game.

It's one of those games when the first week it came out people fucking loved it for good reason because it reminded them of better times. Games with cheesy, feel-good writing and a certain kind of innocence that felt really rewarding and refreshing.

It only started to spiral downhill once the over-emotional yuppies and tumblrinas decided to use it as a shieldfront to say that it's a 'paragon of their cause' because it has features that they can mince out to say it's part of 'their cause'. In the other end, the absolutely disgusting fanbase of people who roleplay, ERP, or make pornography with a strong emphasis on 'furry' culture because the various characters main point is that they're not people, but monsters, so they spearheaded it.
These contributing factors is what, unfortunately, ruins the fanbase. Talking about the game is a stigma because people assume you're associated with furfaggots who fap to the game, a 'progressive' tumblrina, or some other miscreant. The fact that people tried to make it the 'best game ever' also raised some fists in anger, as it is not the best game ever. It appeals to emotion, which is fine, but as there is a lack of games that do such so profoundly that it unjustifyingly gets a higher score.
The game itself is fine. I would personally give it an 8, the soundtrack is top notch. The characters are fine, the gameplay is meaningfully minimalistic.

Neither of these describe what happened at all.
Alphys was- willingly, mind you- given monsters who had "fallen down". This is described as essentially a pre-death coma before a monster pops and turns to dust of natural causes. Essentially, corpses. She used DT in an attempt to keep the souls from popping and turning to dust with the rest of the monster so she could store them and, presumably, continue collecting the souls of dead monsters willingly provided by families until they had enough to break the barrier. This backfires when the bodies fail to turn to dust, and soon reanimare. Alright, cool. She calls the families and tells them that while the plan she had didn't work, the monsters are now living again and will be sent back to the families. After making those calls, though, the monsters become unstable and begin fusing together. The monsters are mostly okay with this, though Alphys freaks the fuck out and hides them, isolating herself for fear of being exiled. Eventually Frisk comes along and does his thing, where it's revealed that the amalgamates attacked because they were hungry as fuck as Frisk had food on them. Alphys gets the confidence to return them, the families are okay with it because (as asriel says) "monsters are weird", and that's that. Alphys's biggest problem was not simply coming clean and freaking herself out over nothing.

As for Flowey, her only fault there was simply sending the flower back to Asgore instead of watching it after the monsters started waking up.
