Would you kindly stop asking retarded questions and just play the game?

A shocking amount of mediocrity

bioshock 1: pretty good
bioshock 2: pretty good
bioshock infinite: pretty bad

Art deco and Ayn Rand.

>bioshock 1: pretty good
>bioshock 2: pretty good
>bioshock infinite: pretty bad

your mums vagina.

that's accurate

atlas is fontaine

BO is a solid 7/10
BO2 is a weak 6/10 with muddled level design
BOI drops the ball for waifu pandering and is a weak 5/10

a bad start that made me drop the game

>BO

Idiot leftist developers who think they're clever for referencing one book in the case of 1 and 2.

Full on retardation because Levine claims he was fascinated by quantum physics even though he doesn't understand it, and then decided to make a game plot around that thing he doesn't understand in the case of BioShock Infinite.

All in all, typical leftist pseudo-intellectual garbage.

Endless repetition as you kill dozens of deformed humanoids who jump out of closets or wander around mumbling, then progress to a new area and kill dozens of deformed humanoids who jump out of closets or wander around mumbling.

With time, you will reach areas with dozens of deformed humanoids who jump out of closets or wander around mumbling, and also annoying mini-bosses who climb around on the ceiling or teleport.

>BO

>>bioshock 1: pretty good
>>bioshock 2: pretty good
>>bioshock infinite: pretty bad

Never heard that before?

>BOI

a boring batch of games IMO

>Newfags
It's a play on Bee Oh Shock, ie, Body Oder. Older Cred Forums meme originating from when Bioshock 2 came out.

Fucking state of Cred Forums

xD

when you're the only 1 perpetrating a meme it isn't a meme my dude.

would you kindly is a phrase that ayn rand subliminally tells you to get you to do stuff

its the only thing that this game is remembered for

dumbas 12 year olds thought it was the best shit when they OMG TWISTed the plot

but really any douchebag notices the "would you kindly" from the very beginning and btw, after the LE TWIST the game retcons itself and becomes utterly stupid,, though its a shit game to begin with

No multiplayer for 2, don't buy this piece of trash.

All 3 are great, but Infinite has always been iffy here. I personally love it, but I do understand why others dislike it.

You'd recognise it from Bioshock 2 threads, fag

no multiplayer in the original bioshock 2 either get over it kiddo

sorry, let's try again.
>when you're the only 1 perpetrating a meme it isn't a meme my dude.

Am I supposed to take you being smart seriously when you can't even write a coherent sentence?

Literally becomes pointless after Arcadia, nothing else to see or do, it's like they fresh ran out of ideas

strawman adhom

All 3 games had that issue. They had more story to tell, but mixing gameplay with it made it seem really padded, which it was.

I'm replaying the first one and it is not as good as I remember. Pretty rudimentary actually. I was bored after the first few destinations

...

I always had more fun during the first couple hours of Infinite. It helps that combat doesn't start for a bit and you can explore a good amount of Columbia.

To get a general idea of the Bioshock series' quality you have to remember Ken Levine was rejected by Hollywood multiple times for being "too hacky"

First few hours? Mindless shooting begins in like 10 minutes

where's your source?

Man, I can't really hate Levine. I just enjoy the series too much to.

I mean't that we had that 10 minutes to explore a bit. I still had fun when the actual game started.
I can only say that I got kind of bored during the whole Chen Lin plot.

>what am I in for?

This. And it's not even a revisionist opinion.

I played Bioshock two years after release when I finally had a PC that could handle all those fancy effects. For a game that was supposed to be atmospheric, it was super bland. And you could already tell Ken Levine was a hack since he pretty much beat you over the head with his writing.

Everything about Bioshock infinite?

very uninteresting re-posts coming from you.

Give an idiot who half read the fountainhead once in college a hundred mil and that's what you'll get :^)

>Asking Cred Forums its opinion on Bioshock
Its best to play it and decide on your own.

Just beat all of BioShock's single player content in the last week

BioShock 1: 8/10
BioShock 2: 8.25/10
Minerva's Den: 8.5/10
BioShock Infinite: 6/10
Burial At Sea Episode 1: 5/10
Burial At Sea Episode 2: 6.5/10

Infinite is still worth getting in a sale, though

...

Except it is included in the original bioshock 2 kiddo

yeah go and play that successful and active multiplayer that everyone cares about.

Not him, but the Bioshock games do give me the vibe that the actual game stuff in video games gets in the way of what Levine wants to do. Especially with how Infinite turned out, since the narrative clashes frequently with the game. As in "oh shit, we still have to give the player something to shoot". It's so uninspired that it seems like a mere afterthought.

>no multiplayer in the original bioshock 2 either get over it kiddo
Are you sure about that?

The first bioshock trailer blew my fucking mind

youtube.com/watch?v=Lmw78t8NgIE

Too bad the final game is NOTHING like this.

The Bioshock series is famous for people enjoying the story but finding the gameplay lacking. Its a fun shoot em' up with some other gimmicks thown in. Don't expect a huge master piece.

I get it Ken you really just want to make movies

I honestly think whenever I hear this kind of criticism it's coming from people that don't know movies. BioShock is a fine game and find "experience". There's nothing wrong with it. Go point your cinematic-damning fingers at other shit narrative games.

I very much have fun with BioShock 1 and 2 when I play them, for more than just their stories.

>Says it doesn't exist
>Gets told wrong
>Gets buttblasted

Go ahead and play your worthless game that doesn't include the glorious multiplayer addition kiddie.

/thread

No I'm not buttblasted, my post maybe didn't make sense to you but I was basically saying that even though it does exist in the original version there's not really anything going on with it and there never was and so you're unlikely to find multiplayer even with the original.

"metal gear solid V, huh?"

i could actually tell 2 had been redone because the original's texture were fucking awful.

1 actually looked worse in parts

A wallet that can not store more than 400 dollaroos or so.
A protagonist that has no bags, but more than two arms.
A twist that tries to outdo itself immediately and stumbles horrifically.
An ending that begs the question why it did not come 4 hours earlier.

among other things ofc...

VIDEO GAMES

Plenty of people have heard it before, but it is pretty rare to liken bioshock to body odor.

No matter if you have heard it used before, it is idiotic as an acronym, and the people propagating are idiots just as well.

It's OK. But if you think a couple of miles of tunnels with 3 repeat enemy types is a great "experience" you need to try other games

A watered down version of SS2.

Not really :/
You're just being inflammatory.

Putting Infinite in a collection with the other two, presumably with most players doing it last after the others, will just highlight the problems it had and how it goes backwards instead of forwards in game design.

He's right BO1 is only okay. Kids that praise Bioshock don't know any better/haven't played better FPS games. The fact Bioshock is considered a thinking game is hilarious

Well at least the underwater city idea was interesting. But it should have ended after knocking off Ryan, the last few sections are clearly too long, even the Fort Frolic bit was obvious padding.

>Biosh Ock
Or
>Bi Oshock

What does Black Ops 1 have to do with anything?

It's subjects are what are considered when people call it a thinking game, not the gameplay.

He isn't right. BioShock is fun and it's definitely a fantastic effort to create games with philosophical themes strongly tied into the setting. If they succeeded or not is up to you, I already know your opinion and don't care for it, but it's noteworthy for how far it went with it's themes.

Fort Frolic doesn't feel like padding to me, but I completely agree with you with the post-Ryan stuff.

Nonsensical setting that ruins any enjoyment it could bring.
Uninspired enemy design.
Boring characters, but that's a callback to the first point.

I was referring to LoK: Blood Omen you plebian.

Shit

>philosophical themes
What that dog shit? That's not exactly a great game because of it.

You are a literal loser for harboring thee opinions if you're legit.

this

the setting/environment is great but the gameplay is fucking boring

You are an experiment, atlas is fontaine.

The Big Sister is your daughter.

Booker is comstock and Elizabeth is booker's daughter, there's an infinite numbers of bookers and elizabeths.

>all the library titles renamed from Bioshock to BioShock

dumbed down System Shock II

I was talking about it's story only with that post. I think it's a great game for combining all of it's elements, but it's not the best shooter clearly.

...

>every enemy is a 50s talkin' humanoid
>humanoid diver
>that's it

Wow rude

see

But BioShock is the correct way.

>Sander Cohen subplot has no relevance at all to the game
>literally says let's take a breather from Atlas + Ryan
>task is to kill 1/4 people. now kill 2/4 people. now 3/4...

Why would you do that?

What elements? IIRC there's a man who tricks you into killing Fontaine or something. Why do you even kill that man at the ending? Why were you actually conditioned?

Hmm, I see what you mean. I don't consider it as unwelcome or too distracting padding I guess I mean. I really liked that level and those characters.

I'm not arguing with you or talking to you. You can go read some stuff online about the plot if you want.

I'll take a risk and assume engaging with you won't be worth it for either you or me.

Then why are you here if you will not discuss anything?

Cohen is one of the best characters in the game.

>how far it went with it's themes.
It didn't go far at all. The "twist" of Bioshock does not integrate with the mechanics at all. It's the inverse--it's basically an in-joke poking fun at FPS conventions, a "heh, I get it, that's why the game wouldn't let me proceed until I got the flashing thingy" moment, but all that boils down is the designers saying "it's okay, we have a JUSTIFICATION for our cliches." Which is the opposite of the themes affecting the game at all.

As many others have said, the fact that the game plays exactly the same AFTER the twist reveals how little integration there is.

You mistake what I mean. I'm here to discuss, but not here to discuss with YOU (if you're that guy). If you want to smash our opinions and their justifications against each other to see who survives then you noooooooooooooooooooooo ty

You get betrayed by your helper in 1 using the mind comtrol phrase "would you kindly", you don't in 2 and in Infinite, you're the father of your helper and simultaneously the main villain from an alternate reality. You defeat him by killing yourself.

Have fun!

Bioshock 1 has a cool setting but it got pretty boring. I played on hard with no vita-chambers, and the first third or so was neat, Big Daddies actually formidable at the start, etc., but the second half of the game was just me steamrolling everything in my path waiting for the ending.

I personally took it as "Ask WHY you're doing this, don't just take instructions blindly", but that still doesn't quite fit with the 2nd half of the game.

The "Would you kindly" thing isn't the only thing going on in BioShock. It's themes about morality and, as it has already been talked about in better ways, the objectivist ideals that Rapture represents but lamentably realize are very interesting to me and I thought were well done in the game.

>Can't even fucking spell out thank you
I really need to leave this shithole.

ya you better get out

I would not say that people talking about you about Important Topics makes the themes well done. I mean, I guess, yes, it's pretty good... for a game. There are way more hamfisted games out there and Bioshock at least has fun with the premise. I just don't think that stuff ties into basically any design decision in the game that you could name. MAYBE the little sisters moral choice mechanic but everyone knows how hollow that "dilemma" is.

It would obviously be great if narrative and gameplay wove into each other, but few games do that and I wasn't really meaning to imply I thought BioShock does that. I just like both sides of it, and as a whole I think there's a lot to admire in the package that is BioShock that makes me think it's great.

Could obviously be better.

This

Was Jack's chain tattoo ever explained?

A hint that he's been to Rapture before. Either Tennenbaum put them there to help him remember, or Fontaine did it in a twisted form of irony.

Prove me wrong then, unless your the character lead from the original who though that mutated monsters were boring, but slightly goofyfaced Splicer were the best design ever.

PROVE you wrong? no, that sounds like not a fun or productive way to spend my time.

I'll let you win this by default ;)
have 1 on me.

Inferior versions of the original.
>tfw the "remaster" has worse particle effects, shadows are worse and even absent from certain objects, uses older direct x version meaning even less fancy effects, worse anti aliasing and aside from the slight increase in texture resolution a worse version in every regard
On consoles it might be a slight "upgrade" though considering what trash the console versions looked like back in the day.

Or Suchong tested his conditioning by commanding him to tattoo himself and then cook him a puppy.

likely put there by fontaine to signify he's a genetic slave to all the keywords that can he can use to bend jack to his will.

Awfulness

Fontaine's odd affection for Jack was one of my favorite parts of the game.
>If that's not love, then I don't know what is!

You mean the lines he scrambled to feed you after he ordered you to suicide and tried to stop your heart?

People basically play the games for the story. They're basically last gen's Half-Life with slower, easier gameplay.

The story in the first is acceptable and has multiple subjects. The story in the second tries too hard to turn those subjects on their head (eg instead of trying to produce a socialist villain organically, she's just the most cartoonish populist from the get-go and that's most of what you know about her).

Never played infinite cause waifu shit.

I didn't say he wasn't a monster that was perfectly willing to end Jack, just that he considered himself Jack's "father" of sorts before that. I mean, he kind of is, in a way.

One thing I love about these re-releases is that it becomes easier to discuss older games. Before this collection getting a Bioshock thread going wasn't the easiest thing to do.

>tfw you can't run the remasters without massive stuttering going on through each level

At least I can play the other versions and infinite at max, I guess. Just wanted to get the BioShock achievements

>playing a game purely for cheevos

What's the point? Other people care a lot less than you think they do about achievements

They're patching it so hopefully it'll work well soon.

Bioshock is good
Bioshock 2 is better
Bioshock Infinite had no idea what made the other two games good and shits all over itself

Bioshock is best
Bioshock 2 is good with better combat
Bioshock Infinite can be avoided

It's not always about showing off to people user.

The second one isn't even a spoiler lmao

Bioshock 2 is the only good one. The ones written by Kike Levine are mainstream SJW signaling devices, and besides that, the gameplay is just standard first person shooter with out of place crafting elements.

Just imagine if ken levine wasn't a complete retard and made the trilogy properly.

Make the second game in columbia with an actual justification for vigors and no mention of the multiverse shit and then in the third game you can have an actual closure to a trilogy by having the whole character who can travel to universe by weaving the 2 games together or by having a third city and visiting the first 2 at the end. But no, as much as I love bioshock 2 is was just a cashgrab on the success of the first one. He wrote himself into a corner and tried to loosely tie it together with bullshit and DLC.

t. cuck poster

>tfw you're the only person on this board who like infinite/burial at sea

>Other people care a lot less than you think they do about achievements
>thinking most completionists really care about showing off to other people
It's more about self-satisfaction, really.

youtube.com/watch?v=vU_iGP1vj1g

>HE POST It!!!!

are you OK user

Ha, saw the same shit.

a lot of people enjoy it, but the shitposting prevents people from discussing it.

this doesn't happen on the PS4 version.

Chink shit.

I forgot how good the ambiance is in this game

The novel does this too. It has a running theme of the nature of fathers and sons and tries to foreshadow the kind of man Ryan and Fontaine's son would be (referencing the good or evil path you play with Jack).

The first game was great for its time, but the only thing great about it anymore is the setting. The second game was rehashed bullshit for its time, and there is nothing about it now that stands out. The third game was utter trash when it came out, has aged like milk, but does have a pretty cool DLC.
