Once you actually play the game, you start to love it because it makes battles a lot quicker than in P3 and P4.
Although if they bring it back for P6, they should find a way to make it obscure the character models less. That's the only problem I have with it.

From what I think is that people tend to stick to the games they know or are fans of. TMS was a new IP and looked similar to low budget jrpgs that Idea Factory churns out so TMS has to start from the bottom and work its way up.
