Honestly, the D3 anime really isn't that great, seems like they added a lot of filler for some unholy reason. In my opinion they should have just made it five episodes by Gonzo instead of twenty-four episodes by Lerche.

That would have made the art style infinitely better as well. I mean, I know good anime art is very expensive, but for fuck's sake there are hentai artists with better drawing styles than the anime artists.

I mean, 2.5 and 2.8 are collection numbering for the purpose of giving all the previous plots in one single platform, it's not entirely new game; and both are less than 3 so it's easier to understand than naming 3 different version of DR a DR3 and going with concurrently shit.

It's not multiple different versions of DR3, it's one DR3 made out of different parts. Half of the story is prequel flashbacks while the other half is 'present' events. Both work together to reveal the story of DR3. Don't get so caught up on the fact there's 2 different names

Because there are innumerable unexplained questions that a game's vague descriptions wouldn't adequately cover, and the ending note for DR2 honestly doesn't help explain anything, especially considering they intend for DRv3 to be distanced from Hope's Peak and all of the other events of DR1-2. The names don't really matter until you dive into them. Future side is literally everything that happens after DR2. Despair side is literally everything that happens before DR1. After that Despair segues directly into DR1 and post-2 segues directly into Future. After these are done, the table will be cleared for V3.

And honestly I liked the format of the Future and Despair arc. Both having episodes in a week and foreshadowing story elements in the opposite story made it fun.

So basically he wanted to do backstory shits to clear the way for the "reboot", which won't work as a game because there will be nothing to interact with? I guess that's better than pouring everything into the artbook or something like that, but that he needed to do this in first place seems kinda silly in the first place.

To be fair, you haven't really seen their full range of expressions at all. I felt similar to you when seeing the DR2 designs for the first time, but then I went and played the game and they sort of came to life there, if that makes sense.
