MMOs do use the fantasy setting a lot but that's not why they're shit. Destiny does also use a sci fi theme but that doesn't make it good.

God, I don't really mind it all that much but an MMO that isn't based on fantasy would be a breath of fresh air honestly. Personally I'd like some kind of mecha MMO where you can customise your mecha, but we can't even get normal games with mecha now. I really hope FROM is actually making an Armored Core game instead of something stupid like "It's not Dark Souls, technically" like Bloodborne.

I want a magical girl MMO. I think it'd work, everyone makes female characters for ERP purposes, to fap over them or to use as their dress up dolls anyway. So why not just have a game where all the characters are female anyway? Weebs and perverts would probably love it. Make it like those super hero games like City of Heroes, where you can have a lot of freedom designing costumes and making powers.

Fantasy is too limiting, which is why these fantasy games all look the same. Cyberpunk is way more varied.

Nah, not really. A lot of cyber punk/sci fi games tend to look similar too. In fact, for any style genre a lot of games will look similar. A lot of steam punk looks the same. A lot of sci fi looks the same. Fantasy games, Far East games (admit it, almost all martial art games look exactly the fucking same).

Like, there might be some differences like A has an anime style but B uses more realistic western style but in the end they will still fight green orcs in armor holding clubs. It'd be nice to have some variety like... Fantasy world, but way more varied races. Not just humans with different features tacked on but completely weird shit like four legged races.

My ideal MMO would include:

>Lots of non human races like WoW
>Different build paths for each class unlike shitty ass FFIVX
>Healers, tanks, hybrids, dps classes
>No RNG +20 armor enhancement shit like Black Desert

They're still non human races which is the idea I support

Destiny is so disappointing as an RPG though. The elemental affinities on your guns are literally only used to deal extra damage to certain types of shields that pop up on some enemies. Can't inflict burn with a fire shotgun, no extra damage to fleshy enemies. And the individual talent trees are so limited in what they let you do. Your super charges so slowly it's only good for being used to clear rooms of fodder instead of regularly during an encounter.
