my dick has not been soft since the announcement

it's prime time for new information

I know I am, but I can't speak for Cred Forums since I'm still a newfag.

YES

Most of the hype has died from most fans due to Iizuka recent statement.

It got to the point that people on youtube are looking forward to Project 2017 instead. Seriously what the heck.

they're probably not going to let him anywhere near a camera after that

What happened?

Iizuka revealed that there's more Classic stages in Mania than new ones.

also, Super Emeralds still aren't canon

I still am

Super fucking hype. People can act like the remixed stages won't be fun all they want, they can't detract my hype at all.

Let's blow this out of proportion. WOrst case scenario

>95% recycled zones
>Studiopolis is literally the only original zone
>They're all Green Hill
>

Yes. At least, I am.

youtube.com/watch?v=eyy7UrQUdFc

youtube.com/watch?v=e7NpWqoINAU

Iizuka isn't making the game,
also fuck these idiots.
We got green hill 238e098092348209348 times, I wouldn't mind seeing fucking hydrocity again.

i never stopped being hype famiglia and to be H i actually like seeing classic stages come back
still keeping my fingers crossed for metropolis zone or mystic cave zone

Atleast 75% of the game is old stages so no I'm not hyped at all. I can see why they were showing off Studiopolis.

Iizuka isn't making the game but Taxstealth still answers to him regardless.

What they need to do is show one of the more radically different remixed stages.

I kind of want to mod the S2HD version into Mania since it seems so fitting.

>75%
That's not what they said. They said there are more old stages reworked than new ones but not 75% more.
There could be, example, 10 new stages and 11 old ones. Which is barely 10%.

>they recycle:
>Green Hill Zone
>Emerald Hill Zone
>Chemical Plant Zone
>Chemical Plant Zone
>Chemical Plant Zone
>Chemical Plant Zone
>Casino Night Zone
>Angel Island Zone

Despite this announcement, I am still hyped. I think most people can agree with me on this

>Chemical Plant Zone Act 4
Fuck yes.

I won't mind if it's like generations where there's stages we haven't seen in genesis format added

or if taxman goes all out and makes them a new car with the same coat of paint

Act 8 actually

youtube.com/watch?v=rza1OaMLiRs

My expectations were maybe 12 zones half new half old. If we still are around that number and we only get about 4 new zones I'll be happy. If it's less than 10 overall then I'll be upset.

youtube.com/watch?v=7WS1FqOFO9A

If they're going with, let's be generous here, around 8 classic stages
Then please don't pick the fucks that was in Generations HD and 3DS
As a matter of fact, pick something from Sonic CD and make it actually good to go from point A to point B

Of course, also:

THREADLY REMINDER:

Can you retards not imediatly jump to conclusions for once? First of all we still don't know what the ratio of old and new is going to be, since for all we know it could be 8 old levels and 7 new ones. Plus we don't know what more old levels impiles exactly, because if you recall, Taxman and Stealth wanted to include the Sonic 3 multiplayer levels as full 2 act stages for their proposed Sonic 3 Remaster, so they might be doing that for Mania.

And that's not even mentioning the fact that we don't know just how drastic the other classic levels will be remixed, since Green Hill's the most tame in the game. And I'm sure that the other ones are going to be quite different since Taxman said in an interview that there's a story reason why Sonic's going back to these old stages, and that they're being treated as real places that changed a lot over the year.

tl;dr stop going full retard before we get to see more than one act of two zones

>inb4 muh damage control muh shilling

sonic sux

sonic rlz

...

...

yes

i'm not bothered by there being already existing stages

we don't know what games they're from
as shown in green hill they could breathe new life into the fucking awful/ones that fly under most fans radar (when you think of sonic 2, do you think of emerald hill or chemical plant or mystic cave or oil ocean?)

what the fuck did you people even expect? The game is being made by flippin rom-hackers, famed for re-using classic assets with layouts that aren't trash. They'll all be original level layouts regardless, all they've shown so far are classic zones and they feature shittons of new gimmicks and labyrinth layouts regardless

>we don't know what games they're from
Yes we do, the game's that'll get remixed stages include: 1, 2, 3, & Knuckles and CD. Reason why this isn't bad are here:

no chaotix?

Whitehead has mentioned he'd love to make one of the multiplayer stages of Sonic 3 become a full fledged stage. I can see that being one of the remixed stages for Sonic Mania.

Really, the problem here is that people aren't thinking outside the box. Yes, we're going to have old levels coming back, but this isn't going to be some simple reskin. Green Hill Zone in Mania is the tamest, and it includes a cave area. I'm sure we'll be seeing wildly creative ideas with old stages in Mania. Like, imagine a new Hydrocity Zone where you're able to hydroplane across water a lot more often, maybe even doing so to survive, instead of only getting a small taste of that effect in the original version.

Hell, some people think of the classics as just Sonic 1,2,3,K and CD, but what about if Mania actually takes something from 3D Blast and Spinball and warps it into a full fledged 2D stage all its own? I'm probably on high hopes here, but it's better than think we're just getting the same old boring stage here. Generations showcased we can have old stages but throw in new ideas to make the stage feel fresh, like the truck in City Escape becoming the actual danger throughout the whole stage and Crisis City where half of the stage breaks apart for players to chase after the signpost.

No. The Combi-Ring and the 3Desque ring losing animation is all you're getting.

Probably not, the Combi-Ring is back though at least.

I fucking DEMAND Ice Cap and I fucking demand Aquatic Ruin.

RIGHT. FUCKING. NOW.

i meant more like levels from chaotix

You're a bit uninformed about the facts. See these two posts:

>Aquatic Ruin
possible
>Ice Cap
golden_face.jpg

did he say the stages were the same or the zones? if it's the stages then that's disappointing, but i wouldn't mind going back to old zones and revisiting old themes if it meant totally redesigned stages and bosses

>Aquatic Ruin
Never got the appeal of this zone.
>Ice Cap
Hard times, happiest days of my life

We know, we said no & you're probably only going to get Combi-Ring when it comes to returning anything from that game. Though I guess it could get some references in other areas. Inb4 they surprise us.

Read the bottom of for a more exact quote.

>mfw fully realized azure lake

Honestly if Sonic Mania was just a remake of Sonic 1 with new zones I'd love the thing. As it stands unless they really get creative it's going to be a frankensteins monster of jumbled zones with clashing graphics/design everywhere

let's not kid ourselves, youtube was always more partial of project 2017 and called mania a romhack

Never mind then. Still, I hope to see some cool ideas come about from the old stages.

I just wanna relive the most epic moment I've ever had with Sonic, sliding down the mountain on a snowboard with an amazing song in the background.

For me, it's the absolute masterpiece fucking music. I got that shit as my ringtone for so many years now.

youtube.com/watch?v=nhHa7ph5GLg

0.5 speed for even more epicness

Help a pleb here, what does it do?

*to
brainfarted there

Pay attention to what happens when he gets hit.

"When this item is collected, it remains with the player until hit. Then, instead of all the rings flying across the map, one giant ring comes out, and when retrieved, all rings are returned." It's nerfed in Mania though, instead 1 giant ring it's 10(?) medium sized rings.

>most epic moment
>not the death egg reactivation in Lava Reef

Do you even S3&K?

youtube.com/watch?v=pRgt_LkAPY8

what if we got cut content

ie genocide city, dust hill, neo green hill, hidden palace, wood, etc

Izuka won't let him

>yfw Mania gets Death Egg as a remixed level and it's all in ruins

Neo Green Hill was turned into Aquatic Ruin, m8.

why?

He didn't let him do the desert zone and a extra final boss for Sonic CD, and he's the one who wants more classic stages than new in Mania

WHY
H
Y

Because muh classic nostalgia

BECAUSE
E
C
A
U
S
E

because he needs to go

That's kind of contradicted by the fact that Hidden Palace Zone was in the mobile versions of Sonic 2, also they could simply just be called new Zones in the game while also being based on cut-ones.

Because SEGA has an aversion to money and common sense.

>Classic styled game = literal copy pasted levels from classic styled game

In my headcanon he put Hidden Palace there without Izuka knowing

i thought that mania was stealth and taxman's project

unless sega's corporate meddling has gotten to it

I bet it was Iizukas idea

Sega's been regulating it since day 1

they're just contractors

Oh right, there's also this neat detail. Personally I'm thinking if they add any cut stage at all it'll be Desert Dazzle Zone.

>Izuka fan club
Those pic related.

youtube.com/watch?v=xtqgkPCEIP8

>Taxman and Stealth
>Retro Engine
>new stages, remixes of old ones

Even if it was just pure remixes and no new stages I'd still be rock hard. As it is I've had Studiopolis' music stuck in my head for like three days right now.

i-is Sonic back from the dead?

>I've had Studiopolis' music stuck in my head for like three days right now.
I've had it stuck in my damn head for 2 months now, it's too catchy.
youtube.com/watch?v=NGR5fTO2oio

I never thought the Sonic cycle would claim so many poor anons
>But THIS is the one, THIS time its different
kek

>genocide city

its level map was reused for metropolis act 3 back in the day

>dust hill

They tried something similar with the CD port, it didn't pan out, but they might go back to that well

>neo green hill

literally aquatic ruin

>hidden palace

they already did that in the sonic 2 port (side note why the fuck isn't that on steam)

>wood

honestly I don't think that stage would be interesting enough from a "what-if" perspective, doesn't have the same kind of curious interest hidden palace or the desert stage did

sonic cycle hasn't been relevant since like 2009 and I'd even go so far as to say it was only ever relevant for Unleashed to begin with

See pic: Oh who am I kidding, you're just a shitposter.

I honestly think the main reason I'm so excited about Mania is that it feels like its building on Sonic CD more than the other genesis games as far as style goes, and that game had 11/10 style.

>side note why the fuck isn't that on steam
Because of the Nintendo exlusivity contract Sega had around that time. But since it's expired now, I don't see why they haven't ported those definitive versions of 1 and 2 on other systems besides mobile.

Is Sonic CD the Alexander The Great of the franchise?

>Nintendo exlusivity contract
>mobile
This makes as much sense as why my father left home

I suppose phones were fair game, but not consoles, handhelds or PC. Taxman himself said they could only release those remasters on mobile devices.

I can definitely agree on that, while the level design gets shit on a lot the aesthetics & OSTs blow me away.

>But since it's expired now, I don't see why they haven't ported those definitive versions of 1 and 2 on other systems besides mobile.
Probably for the same reason they haven't updated & fixed the remake of Sonic CD to have vocals in the JP opening & credits, laziness.

>Probably for the same reason they haven't updated & fixed the remake of Sonic CD to have vocals in the JP opening & credits, laziness.

I thought that was a licensing thing

either way not like it isn't a piss easy thing to change in the PC version.

I'm hyped for Mania. It feels good that they're not just using the old physics but improving them. Look at that angle bounce

>I thought that was a licensing thing
I thought they got the rights to it eventually though.

>either way not like it isn't a piss easy thing to change in the PC version.
I know, I fixed it myself but it'd still be nice for them to update it. Also they need to fix that glitch that makes all Act.3 Futures Bad if you get all the Time Stones, it's a bitch to deal with.

Yes.

People have overblown the whole "more classic levels than originals" statement.

Fucking GHZ Act 1 & 2 were condensed into a single act with a bunch of new things and with elements from Emerald Hill too. Act 2 will be completely new with a new aesthetic (cave) and probably will have its own set o gimmicks and enemies.

And that is the tamest level. I expect to see a bunch of crazy shit like downed Death Egg, abandoned Scrap Brain, actually going to the city in Chamical Plant (maybe daytime too), expanded zones from S3 multiplayer, etc.

I still trust the Taxman.

>Taxman and Stealth together making an official 2D Sonic game

I still can't get over it. It still feels like I'm dreaming

i'm still fucking hyped for based Mania

>yfw it heads to Steam Workshop

user you didn't wake up from that car crash

Good this world's better anyways

>Good this world's better anyways
You have a point, Mr.Comatose

>also, Super Emeralds still aren't canon
DID YOU RIKE IT?

I don't know who you are, i don't know where you live, and it's most likely that our fates will never cross in this vast world
But whoever you are, i hope you'll listen to one request from this stranger...
KEEP THE WEBMS COMING FUCK

>We still don't have clear high quality rips of the Green Hill Zone music & more importantly the mini-boss music
Kill me.

Why the fuck is Sonic Adventure 2 Battle there? It's better than the Dreamcast one for sure? And why not Secret Rings, a game most people actually dislike

Ok Mr.Comatose, everyone post Mania webms.

>Little plataforms on the waterfall
That shit is CD as fuck

...

Can do, I pretty much have all the webms made for these threads. My hype train refuses to slow down.

Of course it is, they actually coped a piece of Palmtree Panic's level design there after all.

Yeah but I'm a bit disappointed that there will be more classic stages than brand new ones.

but will you rike it?

Maybe after this game ends up doing well Sega will trust Taxman, Stealth and Pagoda West to make a sequel with entirely new zones

And it ain't all bad, while they do have old zones they aren't even close to the same levels from those old zone

My train is on all cylinders

Hype as fuck, bruv.

I can understand that, but I really believe they'll make the stages look & feel really new. They mentioned they want it to seem like the Zones change over time, that could mean anything from a zone degrading down into shit or possibly looking great & better than ever (I guess kind of like how CD has Bad/Good Futures). There's a lot they can do to make it feel new.

...

...

im exited for it

Anyone hyped for doing time attack with the drop-dash?

Taxman is the Toyotaro of Sonic

prove me wrong.

Reminder that the drop dash was in Generations 3DS and it's a Dimps creation

...

Shit was sweet as fuck

I 100% Generations 3DS and don't remember this at all. Got a link to prove it? It wouldn't be the first time I was oblivious to a move, I never knew Sonic Advance 2 had a homing attack even.

The Speed Shoes look great in this game

...

Ain't got a link but i discovered it right away when trying to check the physics compared to the HD version and rolling right after a jump
The rolling itself ain't as powerful as the one in Mania, but if you jump while in the middle of it your momentum will go forward like a fuck because lol physics

...

...

I'm sure that if this game does well it'll get a sequel, and Sega'll give them a bit more freedom with it. Especially after all the positive feedback Studiopolis has gotten.

Besides, it's not like they can remake GHZ a second time.

I'm never hyped for a Sonic game.

...

Yeah I love how remixed green hill zone got. They definitely have the stuff to make original States though, studiopolis zone looks amazing

...

...

COMES A TIME WHEN YOU NEED A MEAL QUICK

we understand

...

tee lopes is our guy

...

>no Mushroom Hill Zone

shit list, fucking dropped

I cancelled my Collector's edition preorder when i heard about the stages.

im not gonna pay like 70 bucks for that. I was expecting some more originality. I might re-preorder it, but im undecided.

this is going to be hands down the most fun sonic game to watch speedruns of

You could just buy it when it releases like a normal person user

>He actually like Shitroom Hill Zone

thats my plan. but I do sort of want that box and the fake cartridge. but im not willing to pay for all that if the game is just gonna be 80% rehash

I hope this game isn't full of zips like how S3&K runs are

>he doesn't like Bestroom Hill Zone

how does it feel having shit taste?

>80% rehash
Where you getting these percentages from, you either want the box or not. Or you can wait until they get sold on Ebay by scalpers

Can we get some decent Sonic fan games to hold us off until then?

My suggestion: Sonic Overture. Has the blessing of the original Sonic designer.

youtube.com/watch?v=baF8PHSL-pM

Yep. Unlike retards I actually paid attention to the first trailer, so the announement wasnt a surprise at all.

...

I don't see "80%" there

So I downloaded the video of the Twitch stream they did a couple days ago. Here's a webm of the full idle animation.

That doesn't give an accurate percentage though.

I don't see "80%"

there's Sonic Gather Battle, an update is coming out on SAGE Expo 2016

but the guy and the jap who's handling the game are a couple of butthurt assholes

user, this can be anything from 51% to 99%

>99% of the game is rehashed levels

SONIC MANIA IS FINISHED

>but the guy and the jap who's handling the game are a couple of butthurt assholes
What examples of butthurt assholes behavior did they do

>Studiopolis is the only new zone
>99 Classic zones in the game
FUCK

That would be hilarious

Well, it's way too late but an user weeks back wanted a webm of the new Orbinaut spinning & using it's attack so here's that.

ohhh fuck my PENIS

leemena.deviantart.com/
s10.zetaboards.com/FGX_Insider/topic/7344017/32/

muh leaked silver sprites

>99% of the game is redesigned fan-favorite levels from 1-2-3
GOTY material.

>epicness
I agree Aquatic Ruin has godlike music but kys famalam

>Sonic Gens had nothing but past levels
>People were creaming at their pants
>Sonic Mania have both past levels and new
>People are hissing rehash
I really don't get it.

the level design looks too rom hacky compared to the old games

Whatever nigger
What matters is that we both agree the music is godtier

Reminder that Lava Reef will NOT be featured in Mania and we will NOT get a remix of act 1's music

>It's better than the Dreamcast one for sure?
No

ikr? looks too much like good romhacks like Megamix

can't they learn from the masters that is DIMPS?

Goddamn that looked like garbage the moment they showed it off

I'm out of the loop with DBZ, did they make a manga based on Super or is this something else?

>rom hacky

reminder this game was supposed to be a mobile game only at first

Yeah it's a Super manga, but rather than adapting the Toei anime it's adapting from Toriyama's script just like Toei is doing, so while the story is overall the same there's some differences here and there, most notably Goku not being a retarded fuck in the manga and some fights plays out differently

>Christian Whitehead

isn't that the same faggot who failed to use the legendary unused godlike Sound Test #10h as Hidden Palace music in S2 mobile?

youtube.com/watch?v=ORt1VhKP7hI&t=1m07s

It was music made for a cutscene user.

Let it go.

the same faggot who recreated CD to the Retro Engine (and put it to PC)
the same faggot who's doing Freedom Planet 2's engine

how do they make sprites work in multiple different resolutions? Or is the game going to be a 1080p only kind of deal? Sprites had those problems of not being able to scale to bigger resolutions than 3D

This is a small thing I should've noticed sooner, but I love how the enemies here are taking pictures of Sonic like he's a celebrity.

He didn't fail at it, it was intentionally like that since the song was meant for a cutscene. He actually lets you play the Simon Wai prototype version of the stage also which uses that music.

>Freedom Planet will finally have good physics for once
thank god

>NOT SONIC: the game

They said that theme was never meant for that zone it was cutscene music

I really hope the devs don't listen to the faggots who had a hard time with that section. It looks like a perfectly fine platforming challenge to me as it is.

FP is really just Treasurefag-wank than being a inspiration to classic Sonic games.

I'm played enough romhacks to keep me filled for years, so no.

It played just fine
Don't turn this into a Freedom Planet Thread

Source user? If true, I'm deeply saddened by this

Isn't it made by some indie hacks hired by Sega?

>GHZ Act 1 is most tame
>Mania is still a big game
If the ratio killed your hype, you were hyped for the wrong reasons. Sonic 4 didn't (by name) revisit any Zones, and it was no better for it.

This looks a hundred times better than sonic

talented fandevs

see

It totally didn't revisit Green Hill, Casino Night, Labyrinth and Metropolis

The gameplay is good, but the cutscenes directed by ken penders himself are what make the game

>ken penders
What wacky hijinks has he been up to lately

I see your point, but those are new Zones regardless. And they were paired with shit art, shit physics, and shit level design.

Without guaranteed good physics and level design, there would be no reason to be hype for Mania.

Between this and the drop-dash, speedruns are going to look absolutely bonkers and I'm going to love it until they inevitably find terrain glitches that let them skip entire stages.

Holy SHIT
I went to grab lunch, couldn't been out of my room for more than 2 minutes, my maid managed to clean it in that short spam of time
She's fast as FUCK
Or maybe it's not her speed...

wtf I love Freedom Planet now

nothing much, other than the fact that he wants the license to use Knuckles for TLSC

is she from London?

>Or maybe it's not her speed...
Are you implying she's using a chaos emerald to warp? Is that where that damn 4th chaos emerald went to?

yfw they turn city escape into a 2d stage with endless mine song

...

>until they inevitably find terrain glitches that let them skip entire stages.
This is why glitchless runs is the best, I like glitches in moderation but games like 3&K they skip almost every zone.

FP was moveset driven because of its combat though. The physics worked when you actually wanted to go fast or slow even if it looked silly. It wasn't a case like Sonic 4 where the physics and abilities entirely countered the flow of the game.

This wouldn't fly in a classic Sonic game because the level design is directly tied to manipulating Sonic's base physics.

Don't do this to me.

I'm hyped for mania, even bought the collectors edition off amazon for the $50 discount.

But I'm honestly more hyped and curious for project '17.

Not even just for the story, I just want to see some gameplay. What are they doing with modern sonic this time around? Are we back to boosting again, or is it gonna be something new entirely? I can't see them going back to the parkour from Lost World since that game flopped.

I'm even curious about classic sonic, it looked like he boosted in the trailer, so are they changing his gameplay too?

Christ almighty I hope we at least get SOMETHING before the year ends.

I don't know about that, give him too much instant speed abilities and it becomes less impressive, it's like comparing a Green Hill speedrun with lots of rolling and precise jumps compared to a Green Hill Act 1 in Generations that is mostly about using the overpowered spindash

If there's any 3D stage I want to see re(de?)made into 2D it's Mystic Mansion from Heroes. That kind of aesthetic hasn't really been seen in any 2D Sonic as far as I'm aware of. Also its music is fucking rad.

Difference being that the drop-dash is just the speed of a normal spindash, it's just allowing players to do the frame-perfect spindash that TAS runs can pull off.

You speak the truth but people will still say "I can walk up walls slowly muh Sonic 4, this game is shit"

Back to Mania I can't wait to do something like this in the game

I have high hopes for Project 2017, from the teaser it did look similar to the boost gameplay and i always felt that the boost needed at least one more game to idealize it's full potential, Generations pretty much perfected it but i wanted to see it at full force in a game that isn't nostalgia grab
Also i'm happy that there seems to be a plot this time around, looks kinda edgy at first glance but i'll take ANYTHING after years of putting up with the Colors writers

That's because white people always clean their houses before the maids show up. I've never understood this concept.

>2017
>not a nostalgia grab
I'm so sorry.

I'll believe! Until Green Hill shoes up in my face again i'll keep believing!
Unless Green Hill is the final zone, i'd be okay with that

>SA2B there
>Unleashed isn't
kek

>more hyped and curious for project '17

Same here

neither, he said "levels."

That said, I don't think any stages are the same. If I recall right, even the first stage, although it had the same layout for a lot of areas, was also expanded to include more sections/paths. So technically, none of the stages are going to be the same. If anything, they might have more similar layouts, but that may also be exclusive to the first level as a jumping off point for the game. Who knows.

What am I looking at here?

Super Saiyan 2 Trunks
You know, the form that's supposed to have a even more upward hair, but in the anime it looks even more tame than his SS1 one

Oh shit, didn't really notice that.

Also, what are the other comments implying? Are you/they saying the Super manga is more accurate than the Super anime?

>accurate
To what?

I'd say the manga has more respect for the fans of the series

I guess to Toriyama's script? I'm just going by this comment But I don't really get what he means.

Toyotaro definitely does more of his homework than Toei does.

And he has less time and space in his telling of the story to add random shit. So it's likely the less embellished adaptation of the draft.

Plus no Yamamuro or Sumitomo fucking things up in the manga.

Honestly I find the beta mix a bit more endearing

youtube.com/watch?v=PnL8pdsp1ak

>And he has less time and space in his telling of the story to add random shit.
Which brings me to this: Why does the anime add filler if it's not necessary? Considering they aren't adapting anything. "Canon" filler is still filler to me.

By the way OP sorry that I'm off-topic. I just want to know this info.

It's just as good as the final version. Truly great

>Shadow
>Black Knight
>SA2
These are like the top 3 Sonic games though

Your guess is as good as mine. I'm guessing the longer they drag the arcs on for, the more views the series will get, and the more potential merch they'll sell?

That, or they don't want too many action scenes too close together, since the animators are already short on time as it is.

My only guess is that it's waiting the manga to catchup, the manga is only a monthly release

Playing this absolute fart of a game and ran into this weird little bug

What am i looking at

Brazilian programming at its peak

>Final Fever
I'm still mad

WEW LAD
WEW
here's your (You)

Who made it? Chances are i probably know the guy

Why are people blaming the guys making the game for having more old than new zones? They're directly working for Sega and have to do what Sega tells them to do, and you know how Sega is.

LakeFeperd

I don't think critique is directed at them.

I'm just blaming people who were hyped for that game even when everyone knows how Sega is.
I guess I just have to wait until launch to point and laugh at classicfags.

I've seen them being blamed for it everywhere. People either forget or don't know that this is an official Sega game that happens to have top romhackers as the people making it.

webm user, if you're still here, could you make a webm that shows Sonic's new run cycle at 5:30 from this video?

youtube.com/watch?v=fEfKC4sxTG8

People are forgetting that despite the more Classic than New news, this game is still the fucking dream a lot of people have wanted for years: A new game made by Taxman and Stealth in the Retro Engine, not just a port. That alone is worth the price of admission.

We've known there'd be classic levels since the reveal trailer, what are you on about?

I only see Iizuka and Sega targeted.
Most people involved enough to know there will be more revamped than new stages also know it's Iizuka/Sega's call.
Normies don't give a shit.

>Comics are going back to the classics after October finishes off Unleashed arc
>Sonic Mania is good
>Sonic 2017 will likely be canned
>Sonic Boom will be over
>Sonic's shitty friends, including Amy, will never be in another game ever again

We're making Sonic great again at long last. If only Mario would get back to Galaxy levels of good.

He's just mad he isn't getting another adventure, ever.

Wrong video, it was this one at 2:22:

youtube.com/watch?v=2sqtCjvP5Bo

>Galaxy
>good
Are you 12?

*cringe*

>Comics are going back to the classics after October finishes off Unleashed arc
>Sonic Mania is good
>Sonic 2017 will likely be canned
>Sonic's shitty friends, including Amy, will never be in another game ever again

What? When was all of this mentioned?

Here I think? He keeps jumping before the full run can really be seen.

It's better than that New Super Mario Brothers lazy shit, Nintendo has been coasting on for years now and those huge blade 3D platforms where only one power up matters. But go on, keep taking Reggie's cock in your mouth, I don't think he's cum yet.

Also have a bonus one of the other video since I actually made a webm for that a while ago.

Sonic Rush has such pig disgusting level design, really kills the game for me. Does Rush Adventure fix this?

That's the one, thanks.

None of it measures with 64/Sunshine or even 3/SMW.

>Sunshine
That game is the Sonic Adventure of the Mario series.

The cutscenes and story are garbage but the core gameplay is second to 64 and miles better than handholding, casual shit Galaxy is.

No, Mario 64 is obviously the Sonic Adventure. It was just so much better that it makes SA look like a wet turd.

Too bad they're not releasing the new demo this SAGE because they can't meet the deadline. Overture was THE game I was looking forward to at SAGE.

This gives me hope. As long as there are at least 6/7 new stages in there (the length of Sonic 1, or S3 and SK separate) they can put in 40 classic stages for all I care. Hell, put them all in. More is better, right? I feel like that's what's being hinted at here.

his ass, for the most part

The comics are doing another mandated throwback arc like they did for the 20th anniversary. 2017 will most likely not be canned but it's safe to assume that it'll feature the usual suspects + Shadow. Boom will still be around, or at least, the cartoon will.

>calling Galaxy handholding, casual shit when FLUDD exists
Galaxy is more like SA2, it's still shit, but in different ways.

Mario 64 is Sonic 3D Blast.

Rush Adventure's level design was a lot better in my opinion. For one thing it took out those garbage locked rooms with enemy spawns.

I feel a moderate and healthy amount of hype.

I don't understand, are calling mario 64 a bad game?

Because it really isn't.

>Rush gets released
>reviewers praised the fucking locked rooms
That was when I knew game """""journalists""""" couldn't be trusted.

You're fucking retarded:

youtube.com/watch?v=LZAIyzRAyug

No, 3D World is 3D Blast.

>Sonic Mania mods

I don't know what the fuck is supposed to be happening here, but as a massive Sonic fan and fan of platformers in general, Mario 64 might be the most complex 3D platformer of all time on part of its movement system and physics.

>beta

The only retard here is you:

youtube.com/watch?v=IudfxZHTI3w&t=0m59s

IRREFUTABLE PROOF that Sonic Team wanted this song in there

Well, she's got no times for games.

I was saying the opposite, that Mario 64 transitioned the series into 3D so fucking fantastically that, despite coming years later, Sonic Adventure is an absolute joke by comparison.

>having abilities that allow advanced maneuvering is handholding
Sunshine's levels were designed around FLUDD in a variety of ways whereas Galaxy was just slow and linear.
Galaxy was designed to be babby's first Mario.

I will never be excited for Sonic ever again.

Why?

>tfw you don't feel like playing anything but Sonic Mania but you have to wait a season and a half

And here comes the obligatory "linear is scientifically proven bad", why does every Mario discussion loops around to this?

>unironically preferring linearity over variety and exploration
Galaxyshitters = adventurefags

I like linear Mario games but the non-linear Mario games are better

>adventurefags
>preferring linearity over variety and exploration

You're just being intentionally inflammatory.

Because linearity in Mario usually means a very two dimensional level.

Adventurefags care more about variety in characters/playstyles than in level design.

Classicfags care more about variety in level design than anything else.

Variety in level design ALLOW for variety in playstyles.

I don't think Cred Forums was ever hype.

Sonic was always trash, even on the Genesis.

>Adventurefags care more about variety in characters/playstyles than in level design.
Literally never saw an Adventure fan complimenting the game because of the different characters

Don't give him the (You)s he wants.

too late

Thanks for the heads up, only got like 4 (You)s left

>I don't think Cred Forums was ever hype.
How new are you?

I'm an adventurefag. You're not gonna get far telling me or any other Adventure fan what they like and don't like.

These arbitrary forced fandom distinctions are stupid, and in a franchise as fractured as this one, it doesn't help anything. I like the Adventure games for a number of reasons, none of which conflict with my appreciation of the 2D classics or even the modern Boost games.

Hell, none of this had anything to do with the conversation about Super Mario 64 in comparison to Galaxy.

You should never reply to attention seekers user

Yeah, you're right.

>Sonic 06
Iizuka had nothing to do with that game though...

Was the Zoolander sequel any good?

>Sonic Heroes

That's in my "Fuck you I love it!" list.

Then again it's been years since I last played it.

what the fuc. Source please

Yeah no. That doesn't sound remotely similar to Mania's Drop Dash.

cyancapsule

...

Reminder that Sonic Rivals was originally going to be a normal 2D platformer, the PSP series equivalent to Sonic Rush, but Iizuka said to turn into a shitty rival racing game.

I just want 2017 to be a successful year for both Sonic Mania & 2017, especially for Modern Sonic case because I just want this joker to bounce back on his own without Classic Sonic.

>shitting on Sonic Rivals
Come on guys, it objectively wasn't that bad.

The only people shitting on it are the people who never played it.

Which is why everyone shits on it, hurr hurr hurr.

>that autistic Sonic CD max speed amrs behind the back animation will be put in Mania
REEEEEEEE

>if you don't like it, you must have never played it
Stop acting so childish. I played it, it was fucking boring. Maybe the 2D platformer wouldn't have been that good either but it at least would have been infinitely more interesting than what we got.

I feel the same way to but the slight dissapointment in peoples comments on youtube when Classic showed up was hilarious to read.

Glorified Romhack

I keep on hearing that most of the zones are old ones and they'll be, at most, three new zones. Is there anything to back this up or is it just faggots on Cred Forums trying to start shit?

I'm so fucking sick of Green Hill.

>if you don't like it, you must have never played it
I literally never said nor implied that.

Learn how to quote you newfag piece of shit.

There's more Classic than New zones but no one knows the exact ratio yet. So don't believe anyone telling you an exact amount, they're just shitposting.

>I feel the same way to but the slight d

Now all of sudden people are cancelling their pre-order of the collection edition and turning their attention to project 2017

Iizuka said in a recent stream that there will be more remake zones than brand new zones. He also said there will be zones from 1, 2, CD, 3 and &K, emphasizing that 3 and &K are separate. Whitehead has also said there will be more levels than in Generations, which had 9 zones of 2 acts each. I figure this means Mania will have 5 remake zones, 4 brand new zones, and a one-act final boss zone so Whitehead can say it's technically more levels than Generations. On the other hand, there could be more than 5 remake zones, in which case there could be more than 4 brand new zones.

Why do you guys always attribute one poster's actions to everybody? It's one guy that keeps constantly posting that he's cancelling his pre-order.

>turning their attention to Project 2017
To the game that doesn't have any gameplay or even a fucking title yet? Yeah okay.

Because they'll take whatever they can to shit on anything. This is Cred Forums and especially Cred Forums, remember.

Hey that's just them not me and we all know that the Modern & Classic Sonic fans hate each other to no end.

People are overreacting it. The classic zones will have new complete level designs just like GHZ. Just because they want to earn more profit by appealing to nostalgia people, doesn't mean the game will be automatically bad.

Sonic never deserved the level of popularity it received for mediocre gameplay that replaces thoughtful platforming with speed and bright colors.

>Has the blessing of the original Sonic designer
Where does it say this?
I checked Naoto Oshima's twitter and didn't find anything

>But Nintendo!
Get out.

Sonic Heroes is the Super Mario Sunshine of Sonic games

game is pure shite but you'll see a ton of 6th gen nostalgiafags defending it for what fuck ever reason like dive sliding replacing long jump or muh graphics

Heroes was a lot of people's first Sonic game since it was the first multiplatform one.

he wanted modern Sonic characters to be like a typical gang from a Final Fantasy game...

Heroes is just an improved version of the Adventure games

As someone who takes a lot of shit for defending Sonic Adventure, you are absolutely right.

>Sonic Heroes is pure shite

If anything, it only amplified the issues with Adventure.

>slippery controls
>mandatory multi-hit combat sessions
>simple level design so controls don't break too hard
>rails everywhere

That's completely irrelevant. Iizuka had nothing to do with 06 because he was working on Shadow and later Rivals.

SA1>S:H>>>>SA2

There were two HPZ in planning stages. The former 2-act HPZ used Mystic Cave 2P.

The later single-act iteration of HPZ (accessible after getting all the Chaos Emeralds) was meant to use music #10, but both were never fully implemented into the game, and it all died on STI's computers.

>Ohshima's drawings
>not cyan

>Mania
>cyan

Some of them were cyan.

Without a doubt still hyped.
Gonna be the most polished classic sonic experience to date, regardless of recycled levels.

We don't even know the ratio yet you stupid twat

>this is the new "Green eyes!" for Classic Sonic...
Sonic's design in Mania is based more off of his peak design of the Classic era, mainly Sonic Jam and such. Not to mention, there was plenty of cyan Sonic concept and stock art back in the 90s, and it also makes him pop more from darker backgrounds. It's not a bad or even an inaccurate choice of color

After the announcement that it is basically remixes, not really hyped anymore. Holding onto my CE preorder for now, in case they show more to make it amazing, but I was hyped thinking it was a mostly new 2D Sonic in , instead of retreading 2D sections that proved successful in the past.

I already bought Generation, and even Sonic 4 1&2 retreaded and remixed older zones people liked, so, it just kills some of the momentum the game had going for it out of the gates.

I still don't see why this is a big surprise there remaking sonic 1-3 (plus cd) that's four games with a shit ton of stages.

>That game is the Sonic Adventure of the Mario series.
wrong

it's the Shadow the Edgehog of Super Mario
>let's give mario a squirt gun and tie it to the entire gameplay with awful cutscenes, disgusting enemy designs, and cheap exploratory/platformative level design, what could go wrong?

PORKED

there is no bad Sonic Romhack

>don't u dare talk shit about muh EAD Tokyo
3D World shitter detected

and a bunch played the godawful PS2/PC versions

the Xbox/GCN ports were remarkable

The PC version isn't as bad as the PS2 version. It's the only other version with as much graphical fidelity as the Gamecube one and it at least runs at a constant 60 instead of the PS2's 30 with drops.

The only thing wrong with it is that it's a slightly earlier build so there's some minor issues not present in the console versions like switching formations on slopes kills your momentum and there's one ramp in Grand Metropolis that you completely go through and fall to your death if you're running too fast.

every single day

The Gamecube version was the original version. But even then, Heroes wasn't anything remarkable, it was shittier than the other 3D Sonic games before it, but nothing as cancer as StH, Sonic 06, Secret Rings and Boom.

>PC version
>godawful
Excuse me?

The PC version was literally a beta build of the console version, according to speedrunners and data miners.

I didn't really notice any differences compared to the Gamecube version. At least, certainly not anywhere near enough to put it in the same category as the shit PS2 port.

maybe
