Tf2 managed to pack a lot of flavour into very simple character designs. You can look at any tf2 character and get an instant idea at what they do. The heavy is huge and has a big gun, obviously frontline work. The scout is thin and wiry in running attire, obviously mobility and speed over any kind of endurance. The engineer probably builds stuff.

Some of the paladin characters I can guess at what they do but some are completely non obvious. I have this same issue with Overwatch as well.

I never bought Overwatch, but was always thinking about it.

Since Paladins was released, my incentive to purchase Overwatch has dissipated since I'm getting, what I think, is the same amount of fun that Overwatch would give me but for significantly less. Plus all my other friends don't want to buy OW so we can actually play this game together.

Maybe because literally no one knew this game existed until the open beta came out.
Besides, it's a Hi-Rez game, they'll find a way to destroy it like they did with Tribes, Smite, etc, be it with a disastrous update, or by giving it dropping the support.

This game really needs a new name. Paladins doesn't make sense and "champions of the realm" sounds bland.

It's all a matter of preference, like Dota 2 vs LoL. I like this because the characters have more movement options than in Overwatch and doesn't have tht slow time when you're walking to the objective. I also like that there's upgrades you can use mid-game to counter people.

My big gripe with this game is the cards though, as most of them seem really useless. and making loadouts seems like something I don't care enough to do.

Sticky bombs work 99% of the time, and 100% of the time on shields which is where you should be focusing them anyways. Bomb king shits all over tanks like nobody else, while also being among the most mobile champs in the game.

Unless you're spamming a point with grunpy bombs you should have poppy bombed yourself behind enemy lines and be almost on top of your target. His effective range is shit, just like Evie, but since they both kill in like 2 hits it works out, since the first should be free damage.

Buff other ults and champs to rival it in power then. Evies ult should do 1k damage a tick, Cassie should get an instagib shield piercing shot, bomb king should rain down unavoidable death over 30m etc. A 150m instagib is on such a different level from everyone else its way out of line.

Uh yeah, D.Va's ult has a massive blast radius but the damage falls off with distance. The counterplay is finding cover. If anything the only problem with Skye's ult is that it bypasses shields. Beyomd that just jump behind a rock or something. Or play Grohk. Also the payload has a hitbox the size of a mountain.

The problem isn't the payload part, its the much more vital capture point part. There are points you literally cant escape it from, and it only has to graze you to grant death. It shouldnt be getting pentas, but it absolutely will kill everyone on some points without a massive dash.

It's harder with some capture points but for the most part they all have little side doors and structures to get to in order to avoid it. She telegraphs it very heavily too. Maybe it could have a longer fuse but for the most part the counterplay is there. D.Va was the same on release where people died to her ult left and right before people started getting better.
