I don't agree. To some, the games themselves are the appeal - I got a Wii U to play primarily platformers as I like the genre (and there's not much around for it these days) and whatever else interested me; it didn't cost me much so I was so arsed if I didn't like it.

It's true that a lot of Nintendo's success (or lack thereof, depending how you view it) is based on its marketing/branding, but that's true for almost any company/brand and their products. Regardless, this doesn't really have anything to do with a controller not being "fashionable".

Emulators are a thing, especially for Nintendo, so its more likely than not that they have played their games. This also explains why every generation their are people begging Nintendo to release games on PC, since that is the only way they have played Nintendo's games. Nintendo needs to be different to survive. Their trend of selling consoles and handhelds needs to combine. Just making the "New" New N3DS and Wii U 2 won't solve their current sales/lack of third party problem. No one will buy the console counterpart if they do what the diagram shows.

All the NX needs to be is a portable console that plugs into your TV. Partner with ISPs and make Pokemon Go 2, or some other real world MMO exclusive. All of this is in line with their "Blue Ocean" strategy and will get the Wii crowd back.

Then they can then do what they always do with handhelds and make their XL/Lite versions while keeping the current 3DS third parties. If sales are good, maybe AAA devs will work with them again.

Let Sony and MS do the "more power/4K" meme. That is not the answer for Nintendo. Just look at the GameCube.

As a side note, static Nintendo consoles need to go, their just a relic of the past.
