Godot

underrated for sure but if you think it's better than T&T you might have brain damage

That's so wrong I don't even know where to start.

People shit on it too much, it wasn't even that bad.

not him, I hope you aren't implying that T&T is the best

I don't get why people love Godot so much. His coffee guzzling and laser eyes are cool, but it just seemed like he was some incompetent douchebag everyone talked up despite not knowing a damn thing about prosecuting

AAI2>AA6>AA3

The best case in the series was the final case of T&T.

I loved this game. They should have called it AJ2 though.

Didn't know The Grand Turnabout was in AA3.

That's exactly what he was. He acted so cool as Diego but he showed 0 skill or professionalism as a prosecutor. Not to mention his motivation was shit and so was his character.

of course i am, because it is

>Klavier
>Entertaining

Should be in "secret sidekick"

>Ga'ran
>not final toku villain tier

Mate you need help with your shit taste

>ost version of andistan'dhin's first song still has the text scrolling beeps

JUST

an AA game where the best cases are the filler ones cannot be the best, user

>>Unentertaining villain Tier
>Ga'ran
Such insolence!

I agree with the rest though.

We can all agree on this, right guys?

>he said, as he posted a screenshot from a game with only filler cases

He says as SoJ's best case was case 4

Blackquill should've been Apollo's rival

hesaidmind

People like him because he was "cool", and because of his "deep" lines and metaphors about coffee and shit. His theme song too, I guess.

post yfw you found out apollo and trucy were siblings

AJ

As much as people like to meme about Alba, he actually felt powerful and like he knew what he was doing. Ga'ran might have pointed guns at you but half her arguments were "p-please give up this trial, I'll let you go and even give Dhurke a lighter sentence, I promise." I get that she was probably trying to save face in front of her people but all she really did was throw out plea bargains and threaten me with death, which you put up with for the entire game leading up to her.

...

...

Apollo is cool, but he's a boring normalfag. Blackquill could never have the same chemistry with him as he does with Athena.

>JFA
>Mid tier

three shitty cases and one shitty case with some admittedly great drama attached does not make a mid tier game

>metal version doesn't have the end at 7:37
youtube.com/watch?v=OjgbvrYGZyk

How could they leave it out?

At least this time they poured all their shit cases into DLCs.

Honestly would put AJ between mid to low tier. I definitely agree on that God-tier

I don't have any gifs of Blackquill from SoJ, my apologies

you've got me there, I loved case 4

>JFA
>Mid tier
How about no

The beeps are actually on the song itself.
Speed up the text and you will see it.

I'd change AAI1 with AJ

>Implying it's anything but mid-tier.
One good case can't save it from how average it was

franziska literally saved JFA

AA6 in God Tier.

>Should be in "secret sidekick"

now I'd like for a case where Klavier is your actual sidekick like how Blackquill was for 6-4

Delete this picture right now

I'd swap PLvsAA with AJ

>when the prosecutor is on your side during a trial

This is always assuming that every case is equal, which is stupid

A last case has much more impact of the quality of the game than a first case, just by sheer hours of playtime alone

my favorite part was the crazy twist where the guy who you know is evil from the beginning turns out to be evil!!

...

What a qt

I loved how he was still being smug and kept shittalking Trucy even after his breakdown.

Okay cloud ballistics was fucking dumb, but it all felt like it would be a case and Phoenix acted just like Phoenix.

I'm starved for more cases in general, though, so you know, grain of salt.

This really was only a problem with the older games, AA6 references shit all the time.

He's one of my favorite villains in the series. The presentation to his reveal was great. He's one of those characters you love to hate, but also has a point about the Gramaryes

dd and jfa should be in good tier

We can all agree that though Apollo Justice was passable, Dual Destinies was just absolute trash, right?
>lacking best girl while introducing the worst
>bad guy is everyone at once
>WHO NEEDS EVIDENCE WHEN WE HAVE EMOTIONS LMAO

>that cute *ka-tonk* sound she makes when she hits someone
I usually dislike generic violent tsunderes, but Rayfa was adorable.

>in the end, she still doesn't call Phoenix or Apollo by their name

Time to up the bullying

I don't get the hate for apollo justice, trucy was a cool partner, klavier was a nice rival, good music and the cases were pretty good.

not really

I enjoyed every case, even though the first two are somewhat weak - and the DLC case and the last (5-4+5-5) are very good

not the best game for sure, but good fun

Instead of trying to frame her, he should have just approached Trucy with the complete truth of how the Gramaryes were. Just sat down with her and went "look, the Gramaryes are shit here's why" and then made his case.

>We'll never get to see a feud between Phoenix and Edgey after the former forged the evidence in AA4 because of this

Just imagine how better would DD be with the whole Dark Age of the Law plot if this would be referenced

People only hated that game at the time because NOT MUH PHOENIX but now that everyone's calmed down, people generally accept it as a pretty good game.

>introducing best girl while lacking the worst
Fixed.

LETS WATCH THE VIDEO AGAIN

DD doesn't lack best girl.

DD didn't introduce best girl.

>WHO NEEDS EVIDENCE WHEN WE HAVE EMOTIONS LMAO
Mood Matrix is more about keeping the witness's emotions in check so they give good testimony, not a supplement to presenting evidence

my only complaints for soj are

they should've made case 4 a free dlc case and replace it with the first trial in case 5
case 5 went on for way too long even though it was pretty great

also capcom needs to make more innocent looking villains
they are always too obvious from the get go

>because NOT MUH PHOENIX

actually i dislike it because there's too much of muh phoenix

but really mostly because it only has one good but short case, one middling one, and two crap ones

>le ebin mom-killing screaming necklace girl of lacking evidence
>good
Unless you mean Jinxie or something, but there's no way anyone could have feelings for athena.

>Rayfa tries to call Nahyuta big brother
>ends up calling him Braid head

So when is Apollo gonna tap that?

>Means calls Blackquill a delinquent student
>Blackquill rolls with it and acts like a delinquent just to mess with him
Boy, this case was fun.

After that case I had to take a several months break before playing the rest.

She's cute when she's with Simon

wtf I didn't realize Trucy also has the horns like Apollo

I actually dislike it because it was supposed to be a fresh start and Apollo's game, but everyone keeps stealing his spotlight.

At least Athena doesn't get kidnapped and accused of homicide at least twice in the same game, and knows when she needs to stop acting like an ADHD kid.

Mini hornis

SHEEEIT

> DD doesn't lack best girl.
> DD didn't introduce best girl.
I agree.

At least Maya doesn't accuse herself of homicide 20 times in the same game.
>knows when to stop acting like an ADHD kid
You mean the part where she shoehorns her retarded emotion device into a court of law and insists it be used on everyone?

>retarded who's best girl in-fighting

worst time to be in an AA thread, jesus christ, this isn't Cred Forums

>Blackquill
>the DLC case
>the big twist

while the majority of the game was mediocre, all of these were GOAT

Oh boy, I can only imagine, how much you would enjoy AA7 because it's gonna be about Athena.

>lacking best girl while introducing the worst
You are absolutely correct, friend

You have 10 second to present a better girl than Ema.

Go on, just try.

yeah, they're all good in their own way
except AJ Ema

Athena getting development in AA7 would be pretty sick, wouldn't mind her getting the Apollo treatment.

...

...

Those are some nice Mayas ya got there, captain.

>She takes down the england queen

Wait SHIT

>Those hips
HNGH

>You mean the part where she shoehorns her retarded emotion device into a court of law and insists it be used on everyone?
But that's actually helpful and related to the job, at least more than "I want burgers and le ebin Plumed Punisher vs Steel Samurai when this trial is over".

Maya was underused

Needs to be more THICCC

Gonna end this stupid arguing by presenting the actual best girl.

Is there anything they can do to maker Perceive not shit? I've hated it in every game it's in. It's boring

>England queen
> in japanifornia
???

All those snackoos must've went to her hips

>girls look good already
>make them even better

How do they do it?

You mean Borginia, right?
Ema really aged like fine wine. Nahyuta doesn't deserve that.

Turnabout Succesion went up one tier? Then what's the nail Polish doing next to "Low Tier"?

...

>emotions
>helpful
>channeling mia
>unhelpful
Get eviscerated in a lab for retarded robots.

Euthanize yourself.

It's boring because there's literally only ever a single thing that changes during the whole sentence, meaning that there's never any difficulty to it, you just hover over every single body part, play the sentence, find the twitch

they need to introduce something that could actually make it a challenge to find the twitches

>his theme song
>not linking the jazz version
I'm dissapointed fampai
youtube.com/watch?v=HMnrl0tmd3k

...

...

I want the next game to be more down to earth in terms of its major story arc. DD had us solving the DARK AGE OF THE LAW and SoJ had us completely overthrowing a foreign queen and fixing their law system. Let's turn it down a notch

Make the thing Apollo is perceiving actually fit the situation. Like when Orly kept rubbing the back of her head because it's where Zak hit her.

>WHO NEEDS EVIDENCE WHEN WE HAVE EMOTIONS LMAO

That didn't cancel out evidence. It was basically a way to clear up witness testimonies.

WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU PRESENT TO EMA TO SHOW THAT THE TIME OF DEATH WAS DIFFERENT in the dlc case

I really liked Case 5's length, reminded me a lot of the older games where trials went on for 3 days.

>no DLC case with guest detective Cabanela and guest victim Lynne

It's so fucking obvious m8. Have you played any of the other games? It's always the same shit

Fog machine.

Did AA6 get rid of the cell-shading that was in AA5?

But Pearl could channel Mia better than Maya, and she's not as annoying.
Also the emotions are actually helpful if they're just used on a confused witness who has trouble remembering shit. It's better when you need to show proof though, I think that they took a step in the right direction in SoJ.

>pearl
>better than Maya

>neighbors cat was found dead in the garden, guy next door is suspected.
>middle schooler was robbed during the break, who stole 15 bucks and a sandwich?
>someone painted dicks on the ice cream stores window, store owner saw a group of boys.

I want to fuck Kisegawa

She's legal now user, it's ok

t. Morgan Fey

>I WAS TOO SLEEPY TO REMEMBER ANYTHING LOL
>DUDE BURGERS IN MY RAMEN LMAO
>SAMURAI IN MY PUNISHER ROFL
>IM GONNA WITHHOLD INFORMATION EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE ALL GOING TO GET EXECUTED JAJAJA
>WHOOPS GOT KIDNAPPED AGAIN, COULD YOU HELP THE BAD GUY AGAIN KTHXBYE

I hope Maya never comes back and stays locked up in her village. Just when i though the whole "Apollo vs Phoenix" was going to be a heavy case with a deep meaning, where Phoenix was just testing Apollo and his sense of justice, if he can surpass his mentor and think of himself as a full-fledged lawyer

it was just fucking Maya being a hostage. Again.

>implying Pearl is worse than Maya
Sheesh, Mayafags these days. So annoying.

this is my problem with maya, yeah she's nice and all, but she really doesn't seem to do anything useful

like trucy, that bitch came clutch, i actually think she's smarter than apollo, athena was smart too, but maya is just kind of like "go phoenix, i believe in you!"

>Implying you wouldn't take Pearly to buy her first little black dress

>who stole 15 bucks and a sandwich
Larry

Polly isn't allowed to have actually skilled enemies. Kinda annoying.

What Pollyanna accomplished was awesome, but the general competence level of his opponents tend to either be inferior compared to what Nick and Edgeworth got, or, in the case of AA4, someone else does most of the work and makes everything far easier for him.

when something stinks, it's always the Butz.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

>Through the Fire and the Flames Tier
>Darklaw

Let's not throw accusations without evidence, okay?

I also thought the same thing, mainly because of how Apollo facing Wright was pretty much used in the game advertisements. Also lost opportunity not giving Phoenix a new "Lose" animation when he got bested. At least the rest of the episode was good.

>tfw for the first two games I didn't know you could save in the middle of a trial

In the original trilogy Pearl could channel spirits much more easily than Maya. Not to mention that she's a polite and mature girl, and knows how to stay out of murder charges and kidnappings.

fuck I forgot about Darklaw, Ga'ran was better but I'd lump her in the same tier

...

...

Yeah, let's just ignore that the accused, Larry Butz, has a history of stealing from his classmates.

just ask Nick.

Darklaw sucked hard, fuck /u/ characters

>Barnham
>Not an irrelevant piece of shit
Choose one.

I don't care if the next game takes place on a moon defending aliens from jupiter. I just want the devs tone down the goddamn sepia colored flashbacks every 5 minutes.

Maya was more powerful, though. Maya could hijack Pearl's spirits, but Pearl couldn't do the same to Maya.

So Maya has raw power and Pearl has skill.

>DGS has 2 games in shit tier
>Best case is only demi-god
Was it really that bad?

Doesn't the game tell you that every time you save?

actually I'll choose both

>needing an assistant to be useful
>gee whiz what did she do near the end of 1-4 I dun forgot because I'm some athenigger
>"if you want to bring mia just take pearl lmao"

But /u/ characters are great. Aura was a better version of Darklaw though.

Literally ANYONE is more useful that Maya. I to hope we'll only get mentions about her from now on (like in DD). I don't think I can bear a third kidnapping.

Will he ever get another game?
I don't believe so, not after Akira Tago went.

I wouldn't call case 2 that terrible purely because of Nikomina, case 4 absolutely belongs there however. Case 3 probably would've been even better with an investigation phase before the trial.

Guys.... I think he's just trolling.

Why is the Judge still so biased against Feeny and crew?

Um, user... youtube.com/watch?v=CdCy6GCWqAY

They said they're collaborating with another famous Japanese puzzle maker.

If I want to play AAI2 on my 3DS, would I need to buy a flashcard?

t.Mayafaggot.

Is this some sort of reverse shitposting?

Well be happy they trashed the original Layton 7, which was a mobile game with no Layton. Now you have qt Layton adventures.

I've never seen this before, thank you.

>be OCDfag who has to press every statement
>playing PLvPW
>mfw this mob cross-examination in the final case

i actually dont know what she did near the end of 1-4, was it when she got upset at the witness to give more info?

>ywn have her sit on your lap

Life ain't worth it

He's just messing with him.

A lot of the time they just throw shit against the wall and see what sticks. Proposing shit like cross examining a parrot is bound to get annoying after the first couple times.

>Don't worry Nick, we never lost a case together, we got this!
>Go to trial
> I don't remember what happened, but I know I didn't do it
>Loses
>But I didn't do it! You gotta believe me!

How's the anime? Is it worth watching even though I've played the games?

Cause they tend to bullshit their way through cases

At least Phoenix anyway.

Trucy reached out to his protege who she thought was him and wanted to perform with him because he was a great magician

So he tries to ruin her

No, play the games.
Anime is hot garbage.

>you'll never funpost with her and collect heaps of (you)s
Hurts every single day

mia was the best girl

Pretty decent. Circus turnabout was actually redeemed, and afew original episodes after they finished the 1st game with the childhood trio.

Terry plz

Edgeworth > Blackquill >> Barnham >>> Franziska > Nahyuta > Godot >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Klavier

It seems its only good qualities are some scenes not in the games (Phoenix, Larrya and Edgeworth's chilhood for example), making Turnabout Big Top good and pic related.

SISTERLY LOVE

t. Godot

Can she make my virginity disappear?

>"Your honor, the defense wants to cross-examine the Orca!"
>notthisshitagain.jpg
The Judge must admit that his life would be more boring without Phoenix and his merry friends, though.

How could one character fuck up everything so badly?

klavier was based af

That would have been a reasonable thing to do, but Retinz wasn't exactly a nice guy. Along with framing a teenager for murder, he also wanted to liquidate all of Wright's assets just because.

First episode is weak
Rest of the first game is very good
2-2 is meh
2-3 is pretty good
2-4 so far is very good, can't wait for the next episode, I love Matt

>l'ebin whip girl
>better than Captain Coffee of the X-Men
Dropped.
No_

AA3>I2>AA6>AA1>AA2>I-1>AA5>AA4

Inherited Turnabout was my favorite case

I personally felt the game should have ended at 3 but 6 just also ended it in a cozy enough place where I'd be fine if it stopped.

AA1-3 had Phoenix learn from Mia and 4-6 had him become the mentor. I'm pretty satisfied with that formula.

That's not Magnifi

Is there a Nintendo series that is as consistently great as well as Phoenix Wright? Maybe Kirby.

...

I'd swap Godot and Klavier, at least the latter wasn't a complete asshole with shitty motivations.

...

He was a shitty playboy who fucks around 24/7 he gets on my nerves and I'd rather have Gumshoe make a cameo instead of him

Godot is really cool, don't get me wrong. I just couldn't relate to him much, aside from the whole coffee thing.

The Kura'in Judge was actually kinda bias towards the defense. He told Rayfa to fuck off many times, even though she's a fucking princess, and he gave you many chances to turn things around.

>dual destinies
>better than Apollo Justice
(You)

oh yeah I forgot
I guess that explains it huh

The hardcore yuri is the only thing that made Espella even remotely interesting.

On what other platforms has AA come out, other than that godawful mobile version?

You forgot actually being the murderer of an innocent guy who genuinely admired him.

I honestly have no idea why they did this. What a pointless change.

I'll give it to you that it was a weak series but the DLC was fucking GOTY and Athena's case was bretty gud.

AJ had one of the best openers in the game but is heavily bogged down by Turnabout Serenade and the final case is such an incomprehensible and retconned mess that involved some psuedo time travel fuckery showing evidence that only existed in the future in the past and so forth and that entire MASON system.

What change?

Because the show is focused on the friendship between Wright, Miles, and Larry. And it would have added more episodes by shoving more investigation in to it.

I liked how they connected the first and final case in AJ desu

I had completely forgotten about that time travel meme system. Even though it adds another sin to the long list, I'd still profess that it's still superior to Dual destinies. You make a good point, though.
DLC was okay.

This legit creeped the fuck out of me the first time I saw it in the game

Edgeworth showed up in the game, the whole case was about him, what the fuck are you on, user?

>deleted my post because I thought I got your post wrong
>actually got it right

Okay, that didn't go so well.

It's still Capcom's series, no matter the platform.

There was a PC port.

They really fucked up the pacing, imo.

I like the show, but I think that has more to do with the fact that I like AA as a series.

Any Zero Escape fans here who finished AA6 given hope that there are still good VN series around? I didn't think I'd be able to recover.

Looks like they finished subbing DGS on youtube, I'm torn between whether to watch or wait several years for the fan translation which may or may not be still alive.

Or hope Capcom localises it, but I'm not a madman

I dont remember the 2nd case of AJ being that good either.
Lackluster final boss, along with being a slog with annoying characters.

Then you're blind.
I dont recall a DD case being awful, and AJ has one of the worst cases, and another thats close to as bad.
Both of which were the latter 2 out of the total 4 cases in the game.
The only good thing in AJ was the first case

COOL BEANS

Here is the correct opinion.
AAI2>AA6>AA3>AA1>AA5>AA2>AA4>AAI

i really liked apollo's voice in AJ, sad that they changed it

After these years I'm still salty as fuck, it's hard to not get attached to him

You're in THE good VN series thread, my dude.
>a case in DD being awful
Any case with Athena is awful.

I was pretty scared for Ace Attorney with the trend of AJ and DD and SoJ coming off the heels of ZTD disappointing me, but SoJ was really fucking good. Yamazaki can fucking write, AAI2 and 5-DLC were evidence enough, but SoJ is brilliant.

This. His Objection in AJ was the best one in the series.

After both MGSV and ZTD turned out to be huge fucking disappointments AA6 was a breath of fresh air.

I'm glad a game I was excited for actually delivered for once.

>AA6>AA3

i liked his "GOTCHA" voice

>Any case with Athena is awful
I'm glad I have no problems with Athena so I could appreciate DD, then.

>ZTD
Wtf was Uchi smoking?

Me too user, it didn't help that I was playing it in bed before I went to sleep.

Objectively correct tier list comming through.

Well yeah, if you went in expect a full length retelling of all the games, then you're just making yourself disappointed.

I wasn't expecting to just watch the games i've already beaten years ago, i went in expecting some original bits, which there are plenty of, more than i expected, while getting a refresher of the stuff that went down.

This shows supposed to appeal to as many people as possible, so that the fans have something to enjoy, while people who never got to play these games get interested enough to buy the games.

3 = AAI2 > 6 > 5 = 1 > 4 > AAI > 2

They are both pretty close to me, just found that I enjoyed AA6 more. Just can't forgive how boring 3-2 and 3-3 were.

swap dual destiny with AJ for me

I like Athena but sweet jesus that outfit is terrible. If they give her a cuter outfit and tone down that horrible grin animation her ratings would boost significantly, I'm sure of it.

I can agree with that.

Why did a steampunk version of sephiroth show up in the dlc?

>taking down the queen of england

I think enough of the queen's relatives were trying to do that as it is.

This desu. Although I would stick AA6 somewhere between God-tier and high-tier.

Move AA1 up a tier and you're good.

Yeah I don't understand why people actively hate her so much. She fills the role of a fledgling rookie fairly well, the Mood Matrix is a solid gimmick that changes up the pace (especially compared to most Perceives), and her story in AA5 is pretty damn good.

I hope AA7 is her and Phoenix's game and she gets solid development.

Wish they kept his voice in the later games. The Apollo in AJ actually felt like he had Chords of Steel.

>Layton and Investigations 1
>just good
Don't make me come the fuck over there.

It sucks that the cool primary colors were already taken and she got stuck with yellow. I had hoped that she would start using a more decent color after being compared to a spring chick and being called a putrid egg yolk, but even her dress in the DLC case is fucking yellow.

Something like Or even just have the nervous reaction relate to the character's personality or unique physical traits, like say for Pearl her topknot would bounce, or maybe she'd nibble her thumb.

>I hope AA7 is her and Phoenix's game and she gets solid development.
It must be. They introduced her in DD, AA6 was basically about Apollo and she's still kind of a rookie. I think we'll see her becoming more professional and mature in AA7.

>Mask de fucking Masque
>boring
Seek the end.

Make the sentences move by faster and have the tells be related to the actual case like said instead of "your pinkie is twitching you must be lying!"

>there will never be a PW-like set in the Pokemon universe

I'm looking to get into the series, but I don't want to go back further than the 3ds titles. Should I skip DD to as I always hear SoJ is better? But then I wouldn't want to play a worse game afterwards, and if DD is not bad but just not as good it would feel like a waste

Release order faggot, nothing else.

>nibble thumb
Ok, thats actually good
>topknot bounce
That isn't remotely a nervous tic. That makes nearly as little sense as the rabbit popping out from Bonny's hat.
Besides, the issue with perceive has nothing to do with the animations, its got to do with it being a case of sitting for 15 seconds whilst the text slowly scrolls through, then moving to another well zoomed in area and going through it again, until you luck out and get the right area.

Athena is generally well liked, but there are a couple of dedicated haters who usually turn out to be butthurt Mayafags.

>Anything but boring
Consider euthanasia my friend

Athena's ridiculous animations are why I like her, actually. She makes full use of the 3D models. The fact that they make her a goofy piece of shit is what redeems her, she'd suck if she was totally meant to be taken seriously all the time.

I think AA7 will be more focused on her, yeah. Case 4 was filler in this game but I think it was an important bridge case for her in the long run for her character. She still has a long way to go as a lawyer and it develops her and Simon's relationship a bit more. It's obvious the devs care about Simon and considering their entire lives have revolved around each other it makes sense we'd get a case where they do shit together and we learn more about them.

AA7 will probably deal with her trying to find her footing in the world of law now that Apollo has ascended and she's still the rookie. They got her whole backstory already out of the way so they can just completely move forward with her from here.

SoJ is one of the most continuity heavy games in the series. You shouldn't play it first.

Pretty much this. Is just the same faggots over and over again.

Non of AA games feels like a waste. They're all enjoyable, we just talk trash because we've nothing better to do with our lives.

Oh and

Lol. Ass Attorney is obsolete.

Release order or you're a faggot.

It's not just the yellow, it's the whole design. The bright blue accents are nice with her hair but not with the yellow. The yellow can also look nice with her hair, but not with the accents. If you want an example of a redhead wearing yellow doing it right, refer to Asuka's yellow dress in Eva. That's proof it can be done, but my recommendation would be to 1) change the design I could see a high-waisted pencil skirt and a blouse working, it's professional and classy 2) make the yellow less harsh

This extreme bait.

>I'm looking to get into the series, but I don't want to go back further than the 3ds titles.
You'd be jumping literally right into the middle of Apollo's character arc and have no background on Phoenix. If you skip DD you completely skip Athena, and considering SoJ is very continuity heavy you're not going to get why shit is the way it is or why characters act like they do.

Play it in release order or not at all. It's a visual novel with a continuous world.

Ace Attorney 1 is one of the best games in the series anyway.

>Ass Attorney
unf

>Non of AA games feels like a waste
Apollo Justice was such a piece of garbage that it got reconned and everyone tries to forgets it exist besides the MC itself.

>we'd get a case where they do shit together and we learn more about them.
I daydream about it.

The original trilogy is on the 3DS. Play that. Then either get a DS emulator and play "Apollo's" trilogy, or play the Investigations games.
This however is too tryhardy, you obviously can but there is no reason to play AJ before Investigations

I like some of Danganronpa's mysteries but I fucking hate its courtroom gimmicks. It's the same reason I don't like Perceive and Mood Matrix in the coutroom. I don't want to play fucking minigames.

Oh yes, that's true. AJ is shit. But you still have to play it not to ship Apollo/Trucy to get some major events.

>you obviously can but there is no reason to play AJ before Investigations
It doesn't really matter but there's some minor AA4 references in both AAI games so there's really no reason not to play them in pure release order.

Why is Blackquil the best character?

But the games aren't short are they? I would probably be bored after a few of them and never get to the newer ones, and I guess there'll be more of them too.

Fucking casual. Go away.

He's just really fucking cool. Even if his appearance screams edgelord, he has a well-rounded personality and can be both funny and serious without any awkwardness. He's also dropdead loyal and a super nice guy without being a pushover.

It is one of those games where you will get hooked and want to play more of the series just because it exists.

The games are kinda lengthy

The games are fairly long, 20-40 hours depending on the game. If you get board just take a break and then continue, it's not that complicated.

You'll probably get hooked though.

Play them in order.

Just fucking do it. If you can't handle a VN this may not be the series for you.

Derailing the thread to remind you of the best VN

It's like saying you'd get bored in the middle of a book and never open it again. All the series are connected, characters develop, new cast introduced.

It's either you love it and are willing to play all the games or this type of series is just not for you and you shouldn't even bother.

Alright I love Ace Attorney and have played every game, but honestly I really hate Athena. Would this game still be good for me to play?

He's great and he allows the team to get really Japanese with the cases.

I want to see more of him as a partner character.

I don't like her either, but she had a really good case with Simon. You know damn well you need to play this game faggot.

>angry apollo

what case is this from?

If you've played every Ace Attorney how the fuck is this even a question you have to ask?

>At least Maya doesn't accuse herself of homicide 20 times in the same game.
No, she only did it 19 times. Or did you skip over JFA?

Apollo is legit scary like that

He got that stare from Dhurke

She's the assistant in cases 2 and 5.

She's the player character in Case 4, which is short, only a single trial section.

If you liked Duel Destinies anyway, you'll like SoJ even more.

Because it is a lot of money for a digital game and dual destinies was about a 7/10 for me.

>A 7/10 is supposed to be bad.
I remember when a 7/10 meant that a game was tons of fun even if it was flawed.

What the fuck happened?

nigga it's 30 dollars shut the fuck up

That has literally never been the case.

>asshurt sonigger thinks 7/10 was ever good

The "9/10 it's "okay" isn't just a meme.

SoJ is better than DD in almost every way.
>Not super handholdy
>Wacky anime tropes dialed down to standard levels
>Only one iffy case (Athena's), which isn't even that bad
>Better overall supporting cast
>Less typos

Only thing DD does better is the main Prosecutor.

>AA3>AA6

You're basically saying "I want to get into this series of novels, can I just jump to the newest installment" with no regard to the development of characters over the course of the entire work.

I understand this sounds elitist as fuck but that's how a visual novel series works.

It's not like you have to play them all immediately one after another. If you get hooked you could, but you can pick it up and put it down at your leisure.

I don't know what I'm missing with AAI2, it's easily my least favourite in the series. It has its moments, but it pads every case with unnecessary bullshit and it just drags on and fucking on.

>Constantly makes fun of people
>Sharp retorts
>Is actually competent
>Has your back when push comes to shove
>Is actually a good guy deep down

This famalam.

>memorable victim
>memorable defendant
>great use of the Seance
>10 hours long
>Dhurke trying to be a good dad
>BANZAI
>Sarge's cute feet
>SUCH INSOLENCE
>Redeems both Nahyuta and Rayfa
And best of all
>none of that fucking retarded "the power of friendship" shit
6-5 fucking rapes 5-4/5-5 so hard it's not even funny. It might even be my favorite case in the series.

Something must be wrong with you.

My favorite is still The Grand Turnabout, but Turnabout Revolution is definitely top 3 for me.
BANZAI BANZAI BANZAI

So we can all agree the series is better in Yamazaki's hands than it was in Takumi's, right? Yamazaki made the two BEST games in the series while Takumi made the two WORST.

...

>We will never see Barnham and Simon argue over if Knights or Samurai are better

Its not even the best case in the game. Its pretty great but the bad pacing towards the end spoils it.

>Dhurke taking the piss out of Ga'ran every time I pressed him

our lives were hanging in the balance but at least I'd die laughing

>AA6>AA3
>what I'm missing
Gregory's last case
Debeste turning into a man
Momfu
A gigantic series-destroying plothole: Where was Raymond when Greg was shot?
Learning how to play chess without ever playing it just kidding, we all already know how to play chess

What do you mean? The case never dragged for me.

Wouldn't really call it a plothole. I mean sure he's his apprentice but doesn't really mean he had to go with Gregory to the elevator. Gregory and Edgeworth could have been having some father-son time

>Ga'ran bullying Rayfa whenever you pressed her
What a nice mother.

>Takumi made the two WORST.
Apollo Justice and ____?

Capcom better fucking localize DGS at some point

Rayfa was made for bullying.

>DGS2 is in development
>we don't even have DGS1

Considering PLvsAA got localized I can only hope...Maybe once DGS2 is released

Justice for All

>Apollo begging Dhurke to stop upsetting the Queen
>He later makes fun of the Queen himself
Nice to see he's taken a few habits from Dhurke

The entire OG trilogy was out before America got the first DS port.

The translated Dai Gyakuten Saiban playthrough on youtube has just been completed: youtube.com/user/PokeHacksHD/videos

>Wanting that instead of AAI2

Both have fan translations (), but AAI2 is supposedly (I haven't played either) one of the best, while DGS is one of the worst.

you can't play DGS translated, only watch it

the translation isn't all that great and I prefer to play, so fuck that

>AA3
>worst prosecutor by a country mile, significantly brings down all the courtroom segments
>most forgettable courtroom music
>the actual murder cases of 3-1 and 3-4 are shit, just like 2-4, and are only remembered for their drama and fanservice
>worst prosecutor goes full fucking retard and completely wrecks the end of the story

T&T was good for filler cases, drama, some fan service, and character themes.

>worst prosecutor
That's a funny way to hint at Franziska.

>worst prosceutor brought down all the courtroom segments
But Franziska was only in one of them.
>wrecks the end of the story
She wasn't there either, but whatever you say dude.

>Godot faggots in denial

>i play the games purely for pure logic and only the murder plots because i'm an autistic retard

It was at least fun to beat Franny and make her cry. There was 0 satisfaction with Godot. That nigger probably never even read the case files, he'd just stroll in, have his tantrum, get his ass beat, and say "I-I'll make you pay, t-trite!" as he was running away. Lets also not forget that his idea of avenging his girlfriend's murder meant withholding all info that could have prevented 3-5 and killing her innocent mom.

This reminds me, there should be a case based off a harem anime where the protag gets killed and the different girl archetypes are suspects.

Best orchestrated track?

youtube.com/watch?v=625pqxMsWFY

SoJ shows that you can have tense moments and drama but also good cases. Was it just too much for you to handle, user?

is it just me or do both Phoenix and Apollo now have way better bantz than they did before?

>spin-off gets J.C. Staff to do the anime cutscenes
>main series is stuck with A-1 Pictures
Well, DGS has even fewer anime cutscenes than AA6 and it didn't get a prologue anime, but the favoritism towards Takumi is still apparent.

youtube.com/watch?v=-L29-dbnY7k

>tfw haven't been able to play through a single one since the first game

be honest, is there a single fucking case that is better than Rise From The Ashes? Anything even remotely in the ballpark of being that satisfying?

>getting this booty bothered
Investigations 1

I mean yeah it's amazing and orchestrated but not exactly what I was looking for.

What? Don't try and create a shitty false dichotomy here, I like SoJ

Farewell, My Turnabout, Bridge to the Turnabout, The Grand Turnabout and Turnabout Revolution all shit on Rise from the Ashes.

Is AAI2 really that good? I've had it forever but haven't played it because AAI1 was so average

Yeah, a whole lot of them

I never even downloaded that one because I fucking hate investigation segments in these games, is it actually any good?

Literally T&T levels

I liked the Mystery Suite for that great rendition of Gumshoe's theme

I prefer the Orchestra version of Fragrance of Black Coffee

>the actual murder cases of 3-1 and 3-4 are shit, just like 2-4

???

>The original Ace Attorney is as old today as Super Mario Bros. was when it came out.

QUICK

TIER LIST FOR CORNERED THEMES WHEN

>ELDER GOD TIER
1

Try it for yourself, my dude, it'll be worth it.

the AAI games are only technically just "investigations" you still have the equivalent of cross-examinations, they just happen out of court

the investigation itself is also structured differently, which Edgeworth actually walking around the place, talking to people, and examining evidence physically, rather than clicking on stuff

Jesus, I feel bad for not playing it. I literally downloaded as soon as the english translation was released.

Might as well add AAI2 Pursuit theme to that Elder God Tier.

Get out Quercus

Is there a bigger cuck in the series than Inga?

I'll be honest, investigation segments are the reason I dropped this series, sometimes I still get nightmares about the Steel Samurai case.
but I guess I'll try it after I pick up Justice For All again.

Stop lying.

Larry.

The logic and murder plots are the core of AA, you fucking faggot. How can a case still be considered good if it fails on that part?

Just finished SoJ, it was amazing.

So you guys actually liked it? I'm surprised.

Did you call, m'lady?

the first game has by far the worst investigation sequences, it's definitely something that became a lot better throughout the series

no more hitting improbably triggers to get a scene somewhere completely different

Yeah it was pretty amazing. Case 6-5 was absolutely God-Tier and it was a great game for us Apollofags.

I'm glad this series is still going so strong after all this time. It's pretty amazing to think it's getting its fifth 3DS installment and eleventh overall next year.

does it really count when it's not actually his wife's daughter?

it's more like he stole another couple's child and made her love him

Why do people love AAI2 so much? The pacing of the last case was complete ass. Twist after twist after fucking twist.

I dunno, maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, and maybe there's something wrong with my sense of taste, but when I finally learned who the true mastermind of everything was, to be honest, I kinda stopped caring. I honestly just did not care at all about what's-his-name, or his methods or his motivations. I don't even remember his name.

At the very least, it's in the top half of the series, and better than DD.

What the fuck was Takumi smoking when making and designing a character like Basedham appear in the spinoff, then replace him and completely forget about him?

Of course

The closure of a series always delivered

T&T, AAI2, SoJ, and assuming it's not getting ANOTHER sequel, DGS2

>Apollo Justice was the best Ace Attorney

Fixed that

He definitely loved Reyfa more than Ga'ran did.

>inb4 He was grooming her to be his bride once He overthrew Ga'ran

Simon Keyes, user

>You know I always have evidence and witnesses ready, Apollo
BULL

FUCKING

SHIT

This isn't a Apollo vs. Phoenix rival fight. BECAUSE THATS NOT PHOENIX

I PLAYED YOUR GAMES YOU FAGGOT DONT LIE TO ME

When are we gonna start calling them 6-5 and 6-6 I wonder.
What I find amazing is that Capcom tried to make a game that appealed to all portions of the fanbase and succeeded.
But we never got the actual closure scene on AJ unless I missed some secret part, I don't really care though.

DD is blatant in pretending previous games ever happened

You have that backwards, AJfag.

no it isn't

it's an important part, but the writing focuses for the most part on characters, their interactions, and motivations

there's cases which are based completely around that (like 2-4, which is just playing out three characters against each other) - it's not all simply the murder plot itself and it never has been

there's cases with interesting murder setups like AAI-3 or 4-3 which fall completely flat on motivation and characters, and are considered shit because of it

it's not one thing or the other, but in many cases the actual murder plot plays a very small role, and 3-5 is meant as a complete celebration of the trilogy's characters and continuing plotlines. it's very easy to tell people who don't remember the case at all or played it ages ago because they focus on the silly pendulum shit or whatever, which is definitely silly, but it's far from the point of the case

5-3

Nayuta was slightly underwhelming coming after Blackquil, especially since Case 4 made him even better

But god damn, it was entertaining seeing Good ol' Sahmahdi getting pissed off in Case 4

I love how he said that with his "I have no fucking idea what I'm doing but here goes something" face

The final cases of every game are all great.

>Wright, also known as Captian Bluff himself

You missed the joke

Nahyuta was overall shit but he had a couple of really great moments. Apart from his breakdown every case, they are all culture shock moments.

>"What's crackalackin', homie?"

>Rise from the ashes

user, that case is absolutely garbage

The only good part is Ema and Gant

>mayafags

>culture shock moments

Were you expecting anything else?

Do you know what series this is?

Dual Destinies was still entertaining though

>talking shit about Athena

Nah chill Maya fag

Athena became a better character when you actually used her

Yeah, Nahyuta was supposed to be leading on the defense and have them walk into his traps or whatever, which was true sometimes but more often than not that felt like he wasn't present at all and you were alone with the witness

and then he'd come in with a random insult or angry gesture

No, we can't. Athena > Maya, introduced Blackquill who is one of the best prosecutors in the series, villain was pretty cool, and mood matrix has a lot of potential applications.

Talk shit about DD all you want

It had the second best court segments

And in my opinion, better Thought Route solutions than SoJ

Also I can't ignore how God tier Monstrous Turnabout's set up for the plot twist was

Doesn't help that about 3/4ths of his dialogue is just him talking down to you. He was worse about that than fucking Franziska, though at least he never physically assaults you.

>atheniggers who dont have a folder of their waifu on hand to argue for her
Say it with me now
DUDE
EMOTIONS
LMAO

>though at least he never physically assaults you.

did you miss the thing where he magically makes his beads shrink around the defense's head and arms or whatever

>You will never hear Prosecutor Sad Monk attempt to explain dank memes or shitposting

feels bad, man.

why the fuck do two random characters even need to be compared like this

this is some Cred Forums level autism

Well I mean he does do that but it's not the same as when Franziska nearly beats Phoenix to death.

I didn't like the case that much because of the gay clownshow that town was but I will admit the disguise Jinxie couldn't remove was a hell of a tweest.

Hating on DD should be grounds for being banned from these threads.

>smug head shake

>athenigger can't just concede defeat because his waifu is literally trash
My screaming necklace bullshit-o-meter says you're getting pooper peeved, would you like some therapy?
[YES] or [YES] ?

Dude, this is AA. If they meant it as a joke, both Apollo and Athena would have made a comment about it.

You're a faggot with shit taste.

what? are you illiterate?

My only real issue with the last case in AAI2 is that when a story throws so many twists and shocking revelations at you, you'll eventually start to get desensitized. Or at least, that's how it is for me. Personally, I believe that a story shouldn't need more than or two shocking twists to be engaging.

So for me, it's like:
>"What!? So that what was going on!?"
>"Oh wow, I sure as fuck didn't expect THAT!"
>"Oh, okay, so that was happening too."
>"Huh. Is that so. Alright then."

It's like if you're constantly living in the midst of madness, you eventually start to get used to it and it doesn't bother you anymore.

DUDE
BURGERS
LMAO

Athena doesn't get kidnapped or accused twice a game, so that alone puts her ahead of Maya. She also actually has a chest.

did nuffin wrong:

-de vasque
-godot
-simon keyes
-shelly dekiller
-sirhan dogen
-weebquill
-bobby fulbright (the original)
-zak gramarye
-marlon rimes
-mack rell

I'd ask if you're retarded, but your garbage taste in girls tells me all I need to know :^)
>his waifu is so undesirable that she doesn't get kidnapped
You're cornering yourself here, my dude.

did you not see that i quoted two posts there? i'm probably not the user you think i am

The funniest thing about AAI2 to me was the sheer amount of coincidences. Every single happenstance in the game was somehow related to everything else perfectly.

>vasquez
>did nothing wrong
The rest didn't do anything.

>All of this waifufagging and arguing

C'mon, we all know who the most fuckable character is.

self-defense

Wasn't her killing technically an accident?

Property of Maggie.

Yeah. To be honest, I think that also kind of undermines Simon's standing as a mastermind since he was extremely reliant on luck and happenstance.

indeed.

I was really hoping for a touching last-goodbye scene between the two. Finding her drawing in his safe made me feel like shit.

t. Dane Gustavia

Everyone loves Gumshoe's weenies.

What's the ratio of Attorney use in the game anyway?

If you're not with us mayafriends, you're with the athenegros. It's a basic test to see if you fall in line with most things universally preferable.
It's like asking would you rather enjoy a burger or have needles plucked into your eyes one by one while a large brown man interrogates you in a language you don't speak.
Burgers or Athena, user?

Shut up Gustavia

You and your retarded ass backwards son

>Burgers or Athena, user?
Athena

Lost turnabout wasnt that bad.

oh ok

I thought Simon's plan was decently balanced between masterminding and luck.

It was a clownshow though.

I never understood why we were supposed to hate Inga. He shows up with this awesome cigar and awesome yakuza accent talking shit. And we're supposed to be shocked and horrified that he is using his position as justice minister to... aggressively and not 100% legally pursue and eliminate rebels who want to overthrow the government.

I get that this is kinda a kid friendly rebellion where everything is on easy mode and a pregnant woman can lead an unruly mob to storm a courthouse and all we get is some cartoon fisticuffs thrown but still. He was just doing his job up until case 5.

This is honestly the only game where I actually enjoyed all 5 cases

Even Case 1 despite how much longer it took

Phoenix: 3 (DLC included)

Athena: 1

Apollo: 2 (but one of them is quite long)

it's definitely the best one in the bottom tier, but it's definitely not as good as anything in low tier, hence the placing

>Apollo somehow has like a third family and place to grow up now because let's just throw everything and the kitchen sink into his backstory.
>Apollo FINALLY gets a magic-themed case

This is what AJ should have been.

you could make a good argument for apollo being in 3 just by virtue of case 5 being two separate cases

And that's just it. You've chosen the thing far less preferable, and now we all can be sure that your thinkmeat doesn't operate like ours, and thus arguing with you would be pointless.
Athena a shit.

Move over bitches

Best Witness coming through

>it was a clownshow

I understood that reference!

This man was a true hero and literally did nothing wrong except for somehow suspecting the man he was trying to save of villainy when the only evidence of his villainy was created by the act of saving him.

Get the cherry picker!

Wright gets 3 with the DLC

Athena gets a court only case

Apollo only gets 2, but at the same time The entire Case 5 is Apollo, which caught the majority of us Off guard

True, but case 3 is two separate cases as well then. The truth of the second just overturns the verdict of the first.

So it'd be Phoenix 4, Apollo 3, Athena 1

Because he's cool. Everyone universally thought he was going to be an edgy faggot going into DD but it turns out he's a good person at heart who sacrificed it all and was gladly willing to die to save someone. He was also not super grimdark and tortured or whatever idiotic thing they could have made him be.

He's a competent as fuck prosecutor and knows both how to goad witnesses into doing what he wants, and baits the defense into making his case for him. The only other person who could really lead you into shit like that is Edgeworth. Blackquill is intimidating and wants to find your client guilty but isn't a faggot; he doesn't tell his witnesses to lie like Punished Edgeworth or Franziska did, and he knows when to back down in the face of the truth. He also told Apollo to fuck off with his Perceive garbage in the courtroom and got so fed up with Wright & Co eventually that he literally just fucking left at one point. DD very much pushed the notion that he was supposed to be Edgeworth's chosen successor, much like Apollo was for Phoenix, and it works.

He's probably the one character that the Japanifornia localization has immensely helped because instead of being a grimdark samurai he's a giant weeaboo.
>Are you SURE you know enough about the glorious tradition of rakugo to competently prosecute this case?

Overall he's just funny and immensely helps Athena as a character. His banter is legitimately entertaining, he bullies the hell out of every single character, but he's a good person who stands on the right side of justice. His chemistry with Athena singlehandedly makes 6-4 fun and enjoyable. I'm very happy they brought him back, prosecutors have a tendency to fuck off, but it seems clear this team likes him. If Athena is to be redeemed it starts with him.

>tfw you will never be prepared to die for a loli, only to have her dedicate her entire life to you so she can free you, and then proceed to bully the shit out of her constantly afterwards

Is it weird for me to like 5-4 over 5-5, even though a lot of people call them the same case?

I really dug the mystery of the spinning space center.

3 Phoenix (tutorial and 1 full case, and 1 DLC case)
1 Athena (short case)
2 Apollo (1 full case and 1 really fucking long case)

Why would you want this spoiled though?

I mean, it IS the same case - datamining reveals it as such

That said, it's a really fun first case, and Cosmos is a fantastically fun character

>tfw going through case 5

>Jesus fuck this first half is long, but I guess Apollo needs it

>expecting the second half to switch to wright

>It doesnt

>case 3 is two separate cases as well then. The truth of the second just overturns the verdict of the first.
I wouldn't count that. Case 3 is the typical fucking day 1 where you learn fucking nothing, go into the trial knowing absolutely nothing, and accomplish jack fucking shit but end the day with ONE new piece of evidence and now on day 2 people start finally fucking giving you information.

The only thing is they raised the stakes on Day 1 just a little bit.

this desu senpai.

He's an asshole. Nahyuta is just a smug douche.

And to be fair that little girl dedicated her life to damn near getting herself jailed.

He's actually kinda cute once you learn that those dark patches under his eyes are actually tear stains. He cried and cried and cried and never bothered to wipe away his tears so they left a permanent mark on his face.

He grew on me so much. He's actually really great.

I also like some subtle aspects of his design like how he literally has a mon on his back, or how some of his animations literally result in slashing things. Oh yeah and "SILENCE" is amazing too.

Good post, Blackquil is probably the best prosecutor in the series next to Edgeworth.

He also nicknames people too, right? I mean, other than Prosecutor Sad-Monk, I can't think of any.

>He's probably the one character that the Japanifornia localization has immensely helped

ayy

He's basically the Interpol Wolf dude from AAI1, only done RIGHT instead of kinda weak and forgettable.

Klavier helped him too much, Kristoph's downfall was ultimately orchestrated by Nick, Nayuta wasn't really anything special in as far as prosecutors went and Ga'ran just abused authority without too much real thought. Blackquill and Phantom were cool and all, but Nick was the one who did most of the fighting against them, since AA5 was mostly his game.

This so fucking much. He was such a pleasant surprise that he was a big part of what made DD more tolerable during the worst parts. He's the best prosecutor after Edgeworth by far.

He calls the judge "Your Baldness"

The AA4 trailer music is hands-down the best rendition of Apollo's Objection theme.

>Athena's face when you fell for the Phantom meme and convicted an innocent man in 5-5
What have you done

it's not like a robot could be convicted anyway

Athena's freakout animation is the best.

new thread quick

>"Mommy's broke, so I'm taking her apart to fix her!"

I want Blackquill to be her assistant for the whole game, maybe returning as a prosecutor for like one case. They are super cute together, as shown by SoJ case 4.

He's a prosecutor. What kind of a shitty-ass prosecutor would spend all his time being an attorney's assistant?

Yeah, basically.
>athena all but convicted
>waiiiit a sec, the witness doesn't have REAL emotions!
>someone said the phantom doesn't have emotions once! better convict him!
>HEY PHANTOM WANT SOME THERAPY
>"pls no"
>JUST KIDDING YOU DONT GET A CHOICE 'CAUSE YOU'RE THE PHANTOM
How dumb do you have to be to eviscerate your own mother?
How old was she, 12?

>Phoenix Wright's major enemies and rivals
>Aura Blackquill
Huh? Am I forgetting something? If anything she was more an enemy to Athena since she wanted her arrested.

who would possibly do that

I'm just saying. Blackquill has better things to do than tag along with Athena everywhere. Did you forget that he's one of the best prosecutors in the country? Do you seriously think he has the time to be Athena's assistant all the time? He doesn't even work for Wright's agency.

Blackquill taking a fat dump on the Mood Matrix in 5-5 by making every emotion go to excess was great.

I'm glad they brought it back.

a tsundere one

Well, Nick was the one who did most of the fighting.

Have you not played Investigations 2?

What if I dislike Maya and Athena?

I gladly convicted that faggot because the real Fulbright would have been the biggest bro in the universe.

That's like saying you dislike both Sakura and Hinata. People won't buy it because they are too wrapped up in rivalry.
