It lets designers do unique details wherever they want in any amount they want (because its all gets complied into final megatexture) instead of having set of premade textures which are always the same.

The whole "turning giving people motion sickness" part of VR is why it won't be mainstream is games. FPS is a very popular genre, and even the slowest ones still require plenty of turning.

I heard VR works well with racing games and flight/space sims, but those genres are too niche.

Artificial turning like that doesn't even exist in the Vive version. It's room scale VR, the only way to turn is to actually turn. Again, this is only an issue with shitty gamepad VR games.

You've obviously not done a lot of high-tier 3D shitposting, otherwise you would take that back.

Minecraft used to be able to run on NETBOOKs.
Now it can't. It stutters at barely a frame.
I can fucking run Dwarf Fortress on a netbook at higher FPS.

Any reasonably intense modpack makes servers horribly slow. (especially if you have ones with Industrial Craft and similar mods where massive block-updates happe)

Minceraft resends ENTIRE CHUNKS when a single block gets updated.
Why the fuck it is still like that is beyond me.
It takes more effort to send a chunk than a block.
It actually takes more code. And more bandwidth on top.
And more CPU resources on server and client to actually resync the new chunk data with the games viewport.
It's fucking stupid.
There is a trillion things wrong with their engine and they don't think to fix any of it.

Fixing that ONE issue would massively improve this game. Any large server like 2b2t would instantly become playable without needing haste2 efficiency5 picks just to mine.

Take what back? 4690k/290 isn't netbook level. I don't know much about Minecraft. Not an autist and only installed it to try for VR and let my nephews try it. I only installed a couple mods for graphics, nothing insane, and it ran just fine.

Graphics mods don't really do much.
The engine is barely graphics intense as is.
The issue is the CPU side of the game.
It sucks 10 kinds of donkey balls.

Funnily enough, this game could be massively sped up IF they actually moved the block processing code to GPGPU code.
SO much fucking faster at that. You could blow a whole mountain up with TNT with no lag on AMPLIFIED terrain.

Minecraft is quite literally the lowest of low tiers when it comes to voxel worlds.
Even Minetest is better and it is done by hardly anyone.
I mean, christ, you get lag in SINGLE PLAYER when you run AMPLIFIED terrains.
There was a guy in the forums that made a mod that combined nether, overworld and a sky world in a single dimension that runs faster because of a few tweaks he made.
It could be made even faster with some suggestions I made on the lighting side of things. (use the map API to gauge light)
