Bumping this.
DON'T DIE ON ME DAMN IT

Put up 95% of the concept art for the game on there as well as the entire build 4 months before release.
BS:I was just slapped together random assets.

If only

youtube.com/watch?v=xzLaWbLZl24
where did this game go

>Facebook

...

all of BS:I

I'm still so fucking mad

should have been GTA lost and damned but in the 1960s post vietnam war americana.
what happened

...

...

youtube.com/watch?v=UVrMGger1Wc

Max Payne beta build had some interesting stuff that didn't make it to the final release.

...

>Google image you want
>Click on thumbnail for one that looks promising
>Click "View Image"
>Save photo without ever seeing the website it's from unless you look at the URL
>Autists point out the location

Pretty neat looking but I found the Vergil stand much cooler honestly.

...

It's no use buddy, we're on Cred Forums.
And, a plus, we're on Cred Forums.

...

Is this from demon souls?

Those things in the upper right corner look like clit stimuli dragon dildos man

It was either from Dark Souls or Dark Souls 2 can't remember exactly.

That tomb raider horror survival game. It looked pretty cool. Maybe someone'll post it.

Dark Souls

Dark Souls. He was meant to be in New Londo or something like that.

it's the scabbard for Yamato during DT
it's the same for Vergil in DMC3

He was meant to be King of the darkwraiths.

so would we have gotten this instead of fire fighters and crow cosplayers as special enemies?

youtube.com/watch?v=gDZBRhjy_ME

I wish RE0 N64 beta build was leaked.

...

What's this from?

Yup, also Columbia citizens horribly disfigured because of different realities merging together.

Why is it that BioShock has horrific concepts, but "bleached" final products

this shit looks like stuff from The Thing

Concept art is just concept art. Artists are allowed to go crazy and do whatever they want. This isn't interesting and a lot of this stuff was never close to being implemented in the game.

The interesting things are enemies or bosses that were cut out at the last second.

nothing, it's just a 3d model someone made

Because they thought you couldn't feel bad for killing them or something.

Better resolution?

>Artists are allowed to go crazy and do whatever they want
>This isn't interesting

but this is concept art from a movie

What am I looking at here.

It was supposed to be "more horrific" if the enemies are human. Too bad the only thing i remember is
>JESUS LOVES ME DIS I KNOW
And sniping crazed fuckers with a crossbow. Actually interesting enemies like the plastered spider splicers only appear ONCE. Houdinis are just an annoyance until you get their research done

Then why did you post it

Honestly. this is a great idea.
I guess it was scrapped because it would be too much too handle for the average gamer

Any excuse to post the original Fallout's concept art.

a bunch of curled up gorons that are formed into the shape of a golem

youtube.com/watch?v=lxcP9t7KZS8

...

(You)

>concept art is GOAT
>game on release is bland and doesnt use the art

why?

>what is the point of this thread

No, it's actually not. Most of this shit looks stupid and impractical. Being interested in something so stupid is kind of childish.

the average gamer can fuck off then

Lmao looks like a middle schooler's notebook doodle

Search for Art of Bioshock PDF.

Marketing. Ability to model and animate the thing. Shitty focus testing

Imagine how fucking horrifying this would have been
It would have been amazing

The Persona Arena games had many. The art books are basically the graveyard of better ideas than the final games.

>beta HL2

it was far better than what we got and was way more "dystopian future and wasteland" and interesting than muh combine

...

You sound like a riot at parties

...

...

to post cut-content from games, not random porn projects?

post nazi ken

>you're only allowed to find one thing interesting

...

Never

The top left has him using Shinji's hand clock as a necklace.

Ever

NEVER

EVER

Good get this shit outta here

Remember when Oddworld was about a powerless dude overcoming a tyrannical corporation with minor psychic powers and stealth all on his own?

I want an oddworld game with Abe, not fucking deviant art OC's with ponchos and cowboy hats. Strangers wrath was shit

Dungeon Keeper 3

...

If only

I loved Strangers Wrath (though never got far in it), but it really does feel like it shouldn't be part of the Oddworld series other than the general strangeness of it.

Lurk more.

I thought they said they were gonna do Fangus Klot and that RTS after they wrap up Soulstorm

How would your pawns and arisen breath on the moon? Would it be full of moon wolves, moon harpies, and moon bandits?

well, who made it?

...

...

No, it was scrapped because there was really no reason to have it. Elizabeth was the only one who could tear open portals between realities, it's not like this was wide-spread.

It was scrapped because the team were taking too fucking long and the publishers told them to fucking ship the game already or the project will be cancelled so they stitched what they had together into a mediocre corridor shooter with a season pass.

The flgrass is always greener.
I personally really liked how reigned in Half-Life 2 was with its harder sci fi elements and designs.
Felt more real to me without as many crazy enemies like that.

...

>guy creates scifi universe
>populates it with more than one race/setting/idea
>NO ITS DEVIANT ART OC BULLSHIT
Wew

Am I the only person who would've preferred if they went the more cartoony route?

I think that concept got turned into Alexia in CVX, one of her forms was similar.

>yakuza Junpei

what the actual fuck

Source?

What game tho

>Thinking we'll ever get Hand Of Odd

Keep dreaming, kid.

SotC

>Strangers wrath was shit because it was different

They always planned to make different kinds of games for each character. Are you saying you'd want Squeak's game to just be another stealth platformer?

Here's a ton of cool as fuck concept art for the cancelled sequel to The Thing game.

youtu.be/rY6lAXSuFzQ

Turned into this

ignore the wii u version

...

...

...

...

...

money, time, talent

...

And that's all.

bummer

How is The Thing game?

This whole game
Consolation Prize goes to Quake but that didn't hamper the tits multiplayer

Its kind of fun but its broken as fuck and breaks tons of rules of The Thing.
It doesn't do justice at all to the licence but its still a fun time killer.

...

The Thing 2 user reminded me I had this series saved. It's what Shattered Memories might have been.

>And then they realized they have to use the Gamebryo engine and optimize for consoles.

Of all the cool shit they cut out, they decided that Soulflayer Canyon was more worthwhile than the fucking moon

...

>And then Beth dropped Gamebryo to make NotGamebryo, twice.

...

...

...

Well in all honesty, can you name a better engine for rendering and keeping track of fuckhuge environments, characters, and loot that also allows for easy and extremely broad modding capabilities?

So much cut content from Dark Souls

However, I am particularly pissed that Bed of Chaos could've actually been GOOD boss

A satellite, arisen.

'Tis even larger up close.

source engine?

...

Literally anything else?

...

>misunderstanding The Thing this badly

The Thing wasn't a parasite, it devoured creatures and impersonated them.

I loved the Four Kings. I want that sword

Spore
youtube.com/watch?v=T8dvMDFOFnA

If there's one thing Source Engine can't do it's make large scale environments without needing several loading screens somewhere.

God just imagine it
>following your swords light to the edge of the cliffs
>huge fucking spider spontaneously creeps over the side
>kill self

Ironically, Gamebryo seems to have some real problems pushing a decent amount of assets at once.

Just look at all the open strip mods for NV. Those are some real performance killers.

What is exactly canceled about this?

>good
>fighting a monster the size of the Bed of Chaos
it wouldn't have been that good of a fight

Bottom left is rad

Yeah but when exposed The Thing could change its body to defend its self The Things not a parasite but it can do all the stuff shown in the concept art.

Terraria did that

I really want a Crowbcat video on Spore

source

Programmer art

Like the majority of non-gamebryo engines used for all the open worlds today? They probably keep using gamebryo because they know how to use it and don't want to learn a new engine nor make an in-house one

Gorky 17 has some neat stuff, regular concept art here.

Amygdala is a pretty cool boss but almost all souls bosses that big suck major dick

>source
Hahahahahahaha.

...

That's what I'm saying. The captions imply that only a thing with a human "host" could use tools, or that a dog thing has dog powers, or whatever, and that's not how it works. The "host" is just a disguise, the abilities of any fragment of the Thing are purely a function of its size.

Personal favourite right here.

Under a different name now, but it's basically vaporware at this point.

I would have fucking loved that in Shadow of the Colossus.

I remember the cringe threads about this shit, what a trainwreck.

I remember desperately wanting an Xbox solely for Stranger's Wrath when I was a kid. I finally got the chance to play it on the Vita. Worth the wait. Charming little game.

It was Final Fantasy 64

IT STILL FUCKIN GODDAMN HURTS.
GODDAMN IT.

Well why wouldn't we?

>According to the book Raising the Bar, Valve's Ken Birdwell had a friend whose 12-year-old brother, Ted Backman, used to draw. Ken had always liked his work, so while searching for a concept artist several years later, he asked Backman to provide a couple of sketches for possible monsters. He presented sketches of several very sexual-oriented monsters to him and Gabe Newell, managing director, the kind of material Birdwell did not expect. Among them was "Mr. Friendly" displaying an obvious penis. When questioned about it, Backman described that the creature would use its tentacled arms to pull the player towards itself until the point of fatal copulation. Birdwell was worried that Newell wouldn't approve of this material, but it turned out that was exactly what he was looking for. Newell and Backman then began a discussion about possible psycho-sexual alien behaviors and clinical descriptions of disturbed adolescent sexual fantasies. The sexual themes of some of these enemies were intended to elicit a response from the innate homophobia of 14-year-old boys, a significant portion of the targeted audience for the game.

This fucker was fully modeled and coded. He was removed later on, but he still persists.

...

Valve Playtesters Strike Again

>it would be too much too handle
What do you mean?

youtu.be/hm5GUCuFNR4

>free-to-play

>Put a ton of effort into getting something looking nice
>People all over the internet get super hyped about it
>Just fucking drop it altogether, don't release any kind of assets for someone to pick up the mantle or anything
>Just be the biggest tease ever
Why would someone do something like this? It's way too common. I can understand not wanting to spend more time on it, but why not release what you have so far at least?

LITERALLY INSANE IS HERE

People seem to think ITT that concept art isn't fully realized because of dumb normies ruining gaming.
Isn't it more because the artists aren't constrained by technical limitations and when they understand what their engine is capable of they will undoubtedly need to scale back?

Shut up Todd

Because corporate demands you drop everything you're doing to release the bland, tasteless product that they think the focus groups demanded.

And then the game doesn't sell and you're laid off and die in the fucking gutters while the fat cats steal another fucking bonus from the paychecks of those who remain.

jesus crist that would be a grate 3rd sand wale
i dont get why they pick darhen morhan when is the same shit as jhen

Bump
Concept art from MGS: Rising. Shame it was cancelled. Looked like the MGS/Silent Hill crossover we all wanted
(1/3

What?

You just went there and make me angry, uh.

Part 2 of 3

No, the image implies that those specific things behave a certain way in the game because that's how video game logic works you fucking autist

What? It was going to explain why Raiden had his cyborg body and what happened with Sunny, what the fuck are you talking about crossovers.

This kinda reminds me how many hidden gems the Wii had.

I bought the Wii U thinking the same thing would happen.

Feels bad man

I'm still salty about Bioshock. No pics on hand but I remember reading in Game Informer that your usage of Adam would mutate Jack depending on how often you used it. Depending on how monstrous you were, you could get one of several different endings. Then they dropped it all and made it a binary "Kill sisters or rescue sisters" meme.

Looks like Raiden was going to be a robo furry in this, possibly a member of the BB Corps, thought I doubt it, due to skills difference

That is in no way relevant to what you're replying to.

That's some hobbyists homemade model, not resources for some big budget game.

Yeah, but it was also going to be heavily psychological horror-y as well. I will post an alleged enemy design

Part 3 of 3

PUKE AND FUSES

EAT
THE
RICH

What happened, user?
What sort of game?

Yep

Here is the alleged enemy design

That's goldsrc, not source. You're still correct about Source, though.

Amazing

Im sorry

...

What's that from?

>Valve playtesters

TRIGGERED

This the alleged enemy design

Liar!

THE ENTIRETY OF THE ENDERS PROJECT, I AM STILL FUCKING MAD, AND WILL NEVER NOT BE UNTIL WE GET ANOTHER GOOD PROPER ZOE SEQUEL

...

Wasn't ZoE Konami?

Enjoy your pachislot game, nerd.

Final boss was already intimidating enough. This fucker would have been nightmare fuel.

FUCK YOU, YOU COCK SWALLOWING FAGLORD
IT'S NEVER TO LATE TO HOPE
WE'VE SEEN THE IMPOSSIBLE HAPPEN
AND they're still making games apparently so it's possible.

I remember seeing that image years and years ago and just being blown away

Dude, there's unfinished games
and then there's Dragon's Dogma

>Oh shit guys, you know what? I think we're coming dangerously close to having something interesting in this game, so it's probably best we scrap this.

What's with those faces? Why do they all look like Whos from The Grinch?

to be fair they'd never be able to pull off that kind of stuff with the hardware they had

i don't think they ever planned to put that in game

Dude, you know dragon's dogma isn't anything special when it comes to cut content, right? Every game has stuff that didn't make it into the final build. Some even end up being completely different.

Does the actual game have these fucked up Soviet body horror enemies? If so I might have to play it

...

i know but Dragon's Dogma finaly had about 20% of what was planned, not including the online features

HIT THE LEVER

>We could've had a massive colourful New Vegas full of interesting characters
>Instead we got a tiny town with some ruins and a few casinos in the center

What about birking in the train ?

It was never more than a PC tech demo. It was never meant to be anything. After initial SNES concepts, it was decided extremely early on that FFVII would be a PS1 game.

>elmo gets stuck in a time paradox
I really wasn't expecting that.

if that thing is just a large, immobile mass of cordyceps that releases spores (those look more like stalks than legs), then that stuff is still in the game - though it doesn't look as creepy.
Over years, all this fungal growth comes out of a dead infected and spreads around the room/area. You can find it in any area where Joel has to put his gas mask on for spores. It is just part of the environment; not an enemy you need to fight.

>mfw the monster is modern western society

It's such a shame these will never be used for anything.

...

...

The duke could do to commission some new gravity

Eh, they look super generic anyway. The "slightly fucked but still human" are way more disturbing.

There he is. That's the guy that didn't play Black Mesa.

Last of Us really needed some proper bosses.

Also, not using the monkeys in any way other than scene setting wtf.

that is Dah'ren. it's one of Dah'ren's concepts, instead of a drill it had a hammerhead

Animating and implementing them would be difficult and the publisher was breathing down the deva necks

>has legs and is standing
>still has to ask
you posted this same thing in the other thread. you're beng a bit autistic.

>Playtesters
To my understanding they practically redesigned the entire game because it was leaked and wanted it to be fresh no matter what.

Cremators were not in the leak though

And the reason the game was taking too long was that Levine had scrapped the game and started from scratch like 5 times by then, so they just stitched what they had working into a shitty corridor shooter.

>I liked how non-crazy it was
Have you played HL1 user?

>super generic
Are you joking?
>slightly fucked but still human are way more disturbing
Bullshit I wasn't disturbed by any bioshock enemy and thats ignoring how forgettable the designs we got were.
The concept art is anything but forgettable.

HL1's hard-science gone scifi. It's not that crazy, really. Not like Beetle-mech guards with flamethrowers crazy like HL2 feels very realistic.

>hydras
>OICW rifle/grenade launcher
I remember this from magazines.

top right might look familiar because the MMO used that scrapped design for Agnaktor to make one of their own monsters

the ironic thing is that it was scrapped because they were making a monster that wasn't a crabon copy of Lagiacrus

The storyline could have been changed to implement it. I mean, this is a game where themes were dropped and different were used halfway through the game.

Boy you ain't seen shit yet

...

...

This one's in the game, but it's effectively a prop and only seen in the citadel on a conveyor

Ditto with this, i think

...

Do you guys think any of these will make an appearance in
>half life 3

Supposedly it was very hard to animate them. Every enemy would have different animations. And that because they were running out of time and money

HL 3 is a meme game that will never release because it will never live up to the hype.

Probably MT Frameworks

>moshi-moshi, Jesus desu

>that Bungie vs 343 video
shit made me depressed as fuck

Superman's evil uncle.

...

Is this the fabled 17th colossus?

Where can I find the rest of this RE4 artbook? Because I figure that I could at least find it on Sadpanda.

The end of this video sort of makes me glad it was cancelled. 2spooky4me.

youtube.com/watch?v=rS-AK1SwqDg

Jesus fuck that jump scare

because how do you make mobs like that and explain it without sounding really really stupid

>fucking love GW1
>want GW2
>news of GW2 makes it sound more and more like a WoW clone
>adding races
>ha, maybe Tengu
>lol nope, not-elves and not-gnomes for you!

Cops in Infinte recycle a lot of animations from Splicers, they didn't do shit.

They planned to have 40 of them, IIRC

Those guys look really cool, it's a shame this game was cancelled.
Any other good concept art from it?

i will never forget the disappointment of reaching new vegas for the first time

...

I love you Bloodman.

i am bloodman?
no!
i am skeleton jelly!

...

There's some other stuff here:
s588.photobucket.com/user/jspringborg/library/concept art?sort=3&page=1

i get why people feel half life 2 hasnt aged well and probably wasnt as important as people made it out to be for a while, but it's crazy to me that some of you think that the cut aesthetic of city 17 and the combine is superior to release version. i mean some of this stuff look really silly

>EA gets pitched an idea about a game that features a detective who literally has a gun for a head
>They almost instantly scrap it

If anyone needed any more reasons to loathe EA, here you have it.

if it ever does get released it wont be whatever people are hoping it will be. i for one hope they change gears completely from what we saw in half life 2, just like the jarring transition from black mesa to city 17, but i know that just wont happen

why ubi

If I was a dev I would never release my concept art of cut content.
It just makes people say 'but why didn't we get this!?'

it's natural though

Look on the bright side, they said that they'll make a Beyond Good and Evil 2 if they don't get taken over by Vivendi.

...

Sucks we got a retarded redneck midget instead

I just wish we could have it instead of LE HACKERS XDXDXD

Imagine fighting a horde of zombies only to be interrupted by the sound of large footsteps and turn around to face this thing

This artstyle is much cooler.

As if tanks weren't bulletsponge enough

That's too bad, TLoU really needed more types of enemies.

Shame they fucked Borderlands to hell and back.

I remember being hyped after seeing the announcement trailer

Beta designs for Makoto from SF3. I really like the sarashi one and the hoodie.

That's what happens you have the shittiest people in charge of a franchise.

Next gen Jade would be too sexy

Love all of these but this has to be my favorite.

and too hard to animate

They're not really fabled, we know of 8 that were cut kind of late in development.
48, then they cut it to 24, and then they cut the 8 for the final 16 that are in the game.

>Implying next-gen Jade won't be a sassy half-black/half-asian woman who don't need to pigman

...

>turn around
>20 foot tall zombie about to grab you
That would've been hella scary in terms of getting a game over and the design of the zombie

isn't this an scp

>tits on a eel
what for?

You don't know shit about Oddworld and your opinion is trash.

I remember this sentence and picture almost word for word from a few days/weeks back.

Dagon

most scps are accompanied by an unrelated stolen image

quoting 5 posts at once.

Fuck off newfag.

leslyzerosix

Because it's been two years since New and Tasty and we don't have one single iota of new information regarding anything about it's existence?

Bioshock always has infinitely better art design than what was actually put into the game. The amount of shit cut from Bioshock 2 is rage inducing.

Case in point

looks like the Lurker from Metro

...

This is one of the only few vidya things to genuinely unsettle me.

This was a soilder who got ripped in half.

He didn't get shot, he wasn't blown up, some horrifying beast has ripped his fucking body in half, and is swallowing his other half.

All the while, the poor fucker doesn't even get the pleasure of bleeding out of passing out from shock from it.

He, completley paralyzed, can only suffer in extreme pain as he waits to be swallowed and slowly digested, while he is held by the horrifying fucking thing that completely fucking gored him by what's left of his spine.

This shit is terrifying, and it needs to be a game.

I want some kind of horror FPS that plays like call of duty with the scale and graphical phidelity of battlefield, only to suddenly completely change and shut down the super soilder power fantasy by putting in horrifielc demented beasts like this completely massacring soilders, friendly and hostile, which are so powerful they turn what you were used to low recoil high damage 1-2 shot kill guns into worthless pea shooters as they run screeching at you, even holding chunks or halves of people still screaming or dead trying to get to you.

Imagine them suddenly becoming weaponized by militaries, dropping groups of them in select areas to kill off people during the night, and for some reason you would have to be doing something in these areas with small squads of four, and they would even be online co-op so you can be with your friends while you're experiencing it.

...

>cut all the awesome, creative monsters that actually utilize the awesome setting
what the fuck, as someone who loves spooky deep sea shit Bioshock would probably be one of my favorite games if they used this stuff.

...

Sorry, Maya...

How the fuck did they so many great concepts in Bioshock in favor of those stupid looking splicers?

What in God's name is the story of BioShock for people toget this fucked up?

That uruk music

Thats what you get with ken "the cuck" levine in charge.
Luckily the next bioshock won't have anything to do with him.

Genetic modification.

It didn't translate very well into the game. The remastered edition of Bioshock has a museum that lets you see the models of a few enemies from this stage of the games design. They literally call them shit.

That's a Stalker.

He came in hope of making fortunes. His last thoughts were probably wistful.

Is it carrying two people or does it have human bodies for hands?

There's a reason Dead Space was intended to be a proper spiritual/direct sequel to System Shock until they revamped the combat system around limb dismemberment.

...

looks like human hands

...

I know RE1.5 was shitcanned because it wasn't very good, but I'd still love to see G-Anette in the game.

metro last light is very much like that

that's tiny

Sorry, posted a thumbnail by accident from a wiki I'm working on.

It's not tits on an eel. It's a chick who mutated into an eel

A lot of stuff in Bioshock come from the research of Doctor Tenenbaum- There is a sea slug that could cure wounds, she refined the substance to be able to generate any kind of tissue, I'm of course talking about ADAM wich lead to a lot shit happening, including the creation of little sisters and big daddies.
Too much ADAM makes you go crazy and of course the shit gives super powers so people abused it, there are some minor mutations caused by ADAM but nothing so extreme, it could've been cool and would've fit well since Bioshock 2 happens a decade after the first game so crazier mutations seem pausible.
Crazier thing in Bioshock is most likely Gilbert Alexander whos a giant fetus-like hivemind creature.

You forgot to mention
>Hint that Tengu will be new race in first Expansion Pack
>Expansion Pack is fucking nothing feat that one grassy cunt nobody likes but is shoe horned into every fucking questline

That's a really fucking cool shot

Sick digits

There's a manga about this exact thing that started recently, and its actually fucking great.

That aside, I'm actually really not sure what you think the protag having a gun for a head would possibly add to gameplay. It would literally just be a boring fucking """"""""AAA"""""""" FPS or TPS like any other, but with a slightly "quirkier" but equally ham-fisted narrative.

>can't see shit
>can't smell shit, too high up from everything
>no way to eat, it's hands are limp bodies and it seems like it's jaw isn't even functional
>no genitals, can't replicate
>absolutely no fucking way that thing is bending down for absolutely anything

There's nothing that thing can do besides maybe step on you, but it would be crazy difficult as it would obviously be slow as fuck.

Plus, imagine that damn thing ingame.

It would have extremely limited pathfinding because all the levels are cluttered and full of buildings, the size of it would mean it would rape the frame rate, m it would probably have extremely low quality textures because of just how fucking massive it is, and you damn well know nobody would be able to control it online.

Plus, whole maps would be required to change to accommodate it, being significantly more open with less shit like cars everywhere.

The only way it would work, is if it was a one time thing for like a gimmicky " avoid being stepped on by dashing into the next bunker " sequence on a single level, or a background asset that would be incredibly cool, yet low detail in a map or two.

It just can't work, and if it did, it would be very bare bones and disappointing.

actually, it's just because they're obsidian. They've made games with lots of different engines, and all of them are just as shitty and empty and half finished.

I remember reading some article age about how the creative director went on holiday for a month during the games development, and when he got back found that upper management had decided the game was going to be cell-shaded and quirky and had basically just trashed all the previous assets and gutted everything else while he was gone, so he just had to kind of roll with it and try to make the best of the desecrated corpse of his game.

bump

I don't have a picture but Eternal Darkness was supposed to have a fifth ancient- the yellow rune shields and energy bolts were their influence.

All of DaS2 ;_;
Can't find good images on google tho

I am alive...
I was waiting for it a long time and the final game was so disapponting...
youtube.com/watch?v=HZ6Aely9YrQ

This some cool ass design

are you actually retarded

youtube.com/watch?v=Ffqre27h_0c

>They probably keep using gamebryo because they know how to use it

Just barely, and every time they alter it for a new game its fucked.

There were 48 working designs for colossus.

There are at least 30 fully modeled, textured, and animated designs including the 16 that are in the game.

This is fucking cool and actually fits the game's style

please explain how

i actually dont like this concept art its way too bright colored for the settings, imagine these things in a dark room it would look comical

Probably because it's in the game files?

For what purpose was this cancelled?

Yep, same.
Doesn't show on fireden for some reason, but I do remember it, same as the redneck midget comment from

a

Good post

b

>valve playtesters ruin games
>valve goes on to never make another game
It hurts

Well, that old man who drank too much silver and turned blue is pretty comical too, and that actually happened.

...

>old man who drank too much silver and turned blue
I assume he died due to toxicity

Who decides what designs get kept and don't? The AD?

Nah, colloidal silver just turns your skin blue.

asura and sylvari are pretty different to gnomes and elves bro

Valve completely cut the Cremator before it was even given AI. Only a model, some sounds it's fully functional flamethrower were made. No animations or AI.

It had nothing to do with play testers, but to my knowledge the leak spoiling everything they made, so they changed everything.

>different
u havn a giggle m8?
He didn't say it's 1:1 but they fit that stereotypical mold that all MMOs need. Some type of immortal race that are similar to elves, humans, and a smaller race that's shown to be more intellectual than all the other races.
You HAVE to have those three cookie cutter races in the modern MMO.

Prove me wrong nigga.

I'm still mad.

There was a night months ago with a pikmin lore thread that I had read since I never played the game, but was interested in it.
One or two nights later the same thread appears. Same op, many of the same exact replies (with some new ones). I commented about it and a few anons said they remember that one two. I always wondered about this stuff.

I wanna rock her world.

>colorful

Even the concept art is orange.

game?

this really sucks because TLOU needed more scary enemies

This was going to be his super move in the first game.

thanks gamebryo. It's not necessarily consoles fault, because plenty of other games have cities that are at least more vibrant than the New Vegas we got. The scale of it in that concept art looks best suited for classic Fallout.
>we will never get a new vegas demake where it plays and looks just like fallout 1/2

it would've especially been great because of the contrast with the other enemies. You're all used to kind of boring zombies and then suddenly that fucking cronenberg abomination comes up, you'd shit your pants.

But it'd kill the mood by having long empty hallways, obvious dialogue setups "mmmm watch out, could be zambinos about!" and obvious combat arena environments up ahead.

Not to mention the obligatory 10 cutscenes that introduce it.

Why do games never look like the way concept art looks? Is it time?

That looks neat

I remember this thing. If i recall they were thinking of using this as a way to block paths to hinder the survivors rather than attack them directly. like it would stand in the way of a safe house or corridor.

Looks like something from that mtg set. They weren't capable of modeling that thing even too much work to pull it off with all the potential moving components.

glad someone gets it, all these look like some retarded half life 1 tier shite-alien garbage, Thing isn't a body horror flick it's about tension and trust.

It would never translate to an AAA title well, needs to be something more like that space station 13 game

Dark souls

Half Life 3 will NEVER happen. Gabe was quoted that no one is working on it, this was just a few months ago. He;ll probably be dead in 5 years anyway.

The game is a early mortal combat-like game made by sneaky Italians who sold it like the game was finished, a scam.

>that fuck-huge boss
I could already feel the stuttering.

as a game dev? usually there's limitations on the engine so if you aren't doing shit like making hand drawn sprites there's not gonna be much 1:1 concept art to game.

then there's, as you mentioned, time limitations. even if you can get a 1:1 from concept art to game sometimes the animators or whatever make something that works better than what's on the page.

Oh and you can't forget the whims of execs, stupid playtesters, marketers...

Nigga what?

Worked on promoting the original, even got sent a huge pile of textures for before and after cel shading, don't think I saved them unfortunately

woah hold the fuck up guys....
we have someone who knows Unity here!

god-damn how did they get Lisa to look so scary for that split second? Some kind of blur effect? Looks hyper realistic, especially in the split second you see her (she doesn't look great when she eats you though).

...

>pictureformoths.jpg

what is the point of this retard post I wonder

this shit looks like Xenophage with added brianna wu (top left)

Large open-world environments with persistent objects is the exact opposite of Mt frameworks ideal use case. Or do you not remember how shittily Dragon's Dogma ran on consoles even without the persistent objects?

At one point psi ops were going to shoot themselves in the heads with the psi amps in xcom 2, it didn't make it into the final game for whatever reason.

Probably because the avatars already had a stand, dbz hair and "teleports behind you".

It's the orb of confusion!

Bioshock Remastered has a virtual museum or orphaned concepts. it's pretty interesting

...

I'm stealing that suit design its fucking sexy.

...

Those are just the Rumblers from Bioshock 2

...

Came itt for this post

I think the reason this wasn't featured in game was due to Vigor Junkies looking way too much like splicers. Would have sort of been boring.

to be honest I've done my best to forget Bioshock 2 completely

Why? It's the best game in the series.

Shit, this hurts. I had forgotten how promising it looked. Fingers crossed for Shadow Warrior 2 hitting some of these notes I guess.

to be fair, Bioshock Infinite has a good number of bright daylight settings
and even then the other Bioshock games had their fair share of colorful design

Bioshock 2 was hardly bad, if nothing else the gameplay was excellent.

...

I have a friend who was working on this when it got canned.

...

whatever the deus ex team uses,UE4 or fox engine
luminus unironically

A lot of the armor designs in the new xcom games are pretty appealing even if they're not anything that original.

The advent make the most satisfying sounds when they ragdoll into walls and floors, it sounds like they're wearing some weird plastic material.

I just hated how linear it was compared to the first.

Plus it also got used in Ada's scenario in RE6.

...

>dog in a wheelchair
What?

Yeah, man, a clear visual connection would definitely be a detriment to the third game in a series that is otherwise completely unrelated and just an empty cashgrab on a popular name.

Shouldn't you hate Bioshock too in that case since is more linear than System Shock 2?
You could even further since System Shock 1 had way bigger maps and a bigger focus on exploration than any other game in the series.

Meet one of the prototype gatherers that eventually became the Little Sisters.

Bioshock isn't a sequel to System Shock 2.

It was ~inspired~ by System Shock 2, which basically means jack fucking shit.

Incredible

...

Basically, they had gatherers fully modeled and implemented that were just these little sea slug bros.

And then playtesters told them that they didn't feel like it was a valid moral choice because they didn't care whether the slugs lived or died, so the design team was told to produce something that would have a more empathetic response with players.

The first thing they returned was this dog in a wheelchair, mostly to be passive aggressive about having to change a major plot point/fully modeled and rigged characters at the last fucking minute.

Worth it in the end, though, Little Sisters are great.

>Seid ihr das Essen?
>Nein, wir sind der Jäger!

Most of the time it's hardware limitations. Even today, concept art tends to not translate completely to games, because the only limitation to concept art is your mind, which can get pretty crazy.

Flat drawings don't translate well into lit up, animated, 3D world.

cut alien from the xcom reboot.

looks like the aliens from HL1

Still mad that out of all of Ukitakumuki's vehicle designs, his TR Prowler tank didn't get in. I understand that the flat-angular aesthetic was supposed to be the NC's, but fuck if the concept art for the Prowler wasn't god damn sexy.

Hardware, mostly.

Then there's the realization that very few people will ever explore an entire city to the fullest. More isn't always better.

>These images remain as a reminder of what might have been. Human Head Studios crafted a game we remain quite proud of.

ds3? Souls series is pretty shit doing female proportions so it would have turned out shit anyways. Great concept art as always though.

>Front section of the turret where it meets the body is unarmored
>angled armor below that

wouldn't surprise me if some threads at this point are made by bots and canned responses were a real thing. also wouldn't be something you could go back and check on if someone doesn't want you to see it.

You're a complete retard.

Yeah man, I agree. I'm so glad we got "Man With Gun" instead. Much more memorable and original.

That is fucking terrifying.

God there is some artistic truly nightmarish creative talent in the world that is currently untapped.

>front mounted engine

Fuck, me too.
That's spooky.

There is a whole family of smurfs close to where I live. They are batshit crazy hillbillies who don't take kindly to other colors

Sadness overcomes me

>tfw no longer satire

me too.

the fuck is going on? i understand posting the same image and stuff, but word by word text in at least 2 different posts?

Not many people agree with me, but i really wanted to see the first draft of prince of percia the 2 thronea (then named kindred blades).

The story made sense unlike t2t, the combat was going to be like the second, no gay butlerfly final boss. But some moms cried to ubisoft saying that ww was too edgy and they remade the whole thing.

The entirety of Epic Mickey.
I understand that it was way too fucking dark, but the concept art is probably some of the best concept art to ever come out for any game ever.
All we got was a bucket of bolts, really.

Some of these designs look like they were inspired directly by The Thing. I love it.

This shit belongs more in WH40K than any disney universe.

I know that it's the most far fetched thing to have ever hoped for, but the actual game just turned out so bland, save for Oswald.

I CAN DO IT ON MY OWN

Nigga did you watch 28 days later?
Incase you didn't an officer says that infected can't reproduce and make food so they are doomed to a death from starve

The story is about survivors during the first months of the infection, and even yet, the player can even suspect that the survivors aren't even inmunne and are just carrying the disease further away

Still pissed we never got to fight Kraid in any of the Metroid Prime games. Purists will cry NOT MUH KRAID but I always thought his scrapped design here from Prime 1 was badass

Just looks like an armor package in front of the actual armor to me.

Only thing that really carried over for the Vanguard was the hull and

>NOT MUH KRAID
this was gonna be Meta Kraid apparently, so I think this works

Yeah lol you are going too far from the target audience when you want to make a dark disney game.

>Thing isn't a body horror flick

Are you actually retarded?

Is this post a joke

witnessed

Looks ugly and would have been ugly in game. Kraid is too big for metroid prime.

in defense this game is 'too big' to ever be near acceptably complete. that being said, the early alpha gameplay had a fucking underwater section and the final game had SINGLE CELL ORGANISMS WHICH LITERALLY GROW LEGS AND WALK ON LAND

Shit, why do no games have rifle grenades?

I'm sure, but having a clone would be sweeeeeet.

...

They literally can't make it without sinking their reputation.
It's too overhyped.

It feels like they constantly forgot the game was underwater.
Fuck, if it weren't for all the glass windows, the game might as well be in a mega-city on land with some minor plumbing issues.

Man, those designs are waste, as if the sand worms poking its eyes out while chasing you isn't creepy enough.

the money spent on research and making a 150mm autoloader reliably fire in 1.1 second bursts would be better spent on refining ammunition technology so one single shell can do the same damage. besides armor penetration, there's no practical reason to fire in bursts, so why not just improve your armor penetrating tools?

the worst part about fan made thing designs is they forget that while it's a nasty monster, it starts off as a duplicate, so it should look more like something out of a car crash than just some ball of teeth and tentacles

Into a really bad single player, and a multiplayer suite that performed the cardinal sin of having too many modes, therefore balkanizing the fan base and leading to an early grave

I'd seriously hate to be against the USA in 10 years

Was interested in this, but I guess it's not coming out.

Fuck everything.

Fuck me, I don't even remember seeing the trailer for that game.
That looks totally different.

I can certainly understand why they made the changes, but fuck that looks fun.

...

fuk I forgot

Just fuck my medieval aesthetic up senpai.

I was so hype for this trilogy
youtube.com/watch?v=MR5VIyGg_iE

Unreal Engine?

The Maps in Black Mesa aren't that large either. Map Size is one of the reasons why Ivan's Secrets was cancelled, you just can't make fuckhuge maps in Source.

oh god that was such a shitshow

meant for this post

I was a kid when the game came out. The story alone carried me through and then some. I was surprised no one else liked it

oh I liked the story but the game is strictly mediocre, the licensing rights alone are a nightmare and the game's execution of the shit promised in magazines left a lot to be desired.

it's a shame it had real potential.

...

>g4 Tommy's career

I actually imagined a spidery colossus before ever seeing this. It was in a dream where Wander arrived at a large walled city (though it was largely just walls with lots of open grassland), the spider colossus then burst through a large portion of wall, and the battle had it acting somewhat crablike in that it skittered across in something of a pattern.

This thing looks like it would have been a bitch to reach as the legs don't seem to have much to grip onto.

Should have just been the more adventure-style game that was first promised. With the protagonist just having a bit of a soul searching journey across 60s America after returning from that shithole Vietnam.

>game looks incredible, like it's going to remind you of why you liked Vidya in the first place
>Everything good about it is scrapped and some mind numbingly generic bullshit is released in its place

Looks like random shit thrown in Spore.

MGS4: Originally instead of Beauty and the beast unit there was supposed to be at least to beautiful male bosses called Snakeman and ADAM. Newbies whose first mgs was V cry about 'muh cut content' but mgs4 was way more tragic

...

I saw several other images of this thing along with some artist comments.

This shit is fucking nightmare fuel. The person who becomes this is fully aware of it, but they're ruled by base urges. Fucking awful, ugh.

>we will never get a modern remake with all 48 Collosi and an equally scaled world

Yep, the Art Director is usually the one that nixes things if it's too time consuming, technically demanding, etc...

Looking at it the rigging and animation on that thing would be a nightmare.

>a few bosses is comparable to the entire third chapter of a game including it's fucking ending.

Yeah nah.
Besides you aren't even mentioning the worst bit of cut content from MGS4 which was the real time octocamo

If only

That thing literally has it' head up it's own ass. Twice.

>you are now aware that the swim head is just a prolapsed rectum with eyes

...

i kinda wanna fuck that

TOO SOON

Fuck, just seeing this hurts. We were so close to a new ZOE game.

m8 that was there, just without the tentacles and second mouth

Spore gives me really mixed feelings. On one hand I spent a large chunk of my late childhood on it and I still love it. It's comfy as fuck and one of the main reasons for my love of sci-fi.
On the other hand, when I think of all that wasted potential...

The Secret World
City of heroes

Valve didn't want any of the combine's footsoldiers to look blatantly alien. It's harder to trust a bunch of armed freaks that they're doing what they're doing for your own good.

But M&M games have always had scifi elements in them tho, would have been more faithful to the setting compared to Conflux they replaced it with

The fuck is this?

>he never played the mainline M&m games

>in like 10 years tanks/mechs will be equipped with rail guns

'no'

>All this bioshock concept art
>We only got ugly humans and dolls in the end

JFMSU

Something that never became a game.

I doubt anyone is going to invent an energy source capable of powering a mobile rail gun. Not to mention that you'd need to use superconductive slugs with currents like that, because otherwise the projectile would just melt before leaving the barrel. And then there's the problem of reinforcing the rails so the magnetic forces won't bend them to shit after one shot.

I both hope for and dread the day Konami decides to do something with it. Maybe if they threw it Platinum Games' way...

I looked on the site, but it doesn't seem cancelled

>ADAM
An Ocelot clone would spawn like a milion MGS games.

Was this the Pop project that ended up becoming AssCreed?
