Shin Megami Tensei. I've been meaning to try this one but am unsure with which game to start.

The correct way to play a series is every game in order. If that's not good, the series isn't good.

desu i hate video games I only come here to complain and post memes

Max Payne series for 360

>playing Precision Headshot Simulator with a gamepad

Play all three games in chronological order on PC.

me too.

you're saying that the best Grand Theft Auto game is the first one?

Metal gear solid

I have only played metal gear rising

Nowhere in my post did I claim that the first game in the series is always the best or even that a series should be played best-game-first.

start : MGS1
skip : the rest

best girl : natasha

Start with: The first one
Skip: The third one
Must plays: The first two

Either The Witcher or Bayonetta

Any of the following:
SaGa
Tales of x
Wipeout
Breath of Fire
Tactics Ogre
Also not a series but Grand Strategy in general.

Total War

"Tales of" series.

if you have serious autism, play first, consider second if you couldn't stop your erection when playing the second

if you suffer from serious casualitis, "games are art" or "I want to read a book" skip 1 & 2 and play 3

I really wanna recommend Nocturne but I know it's hard af for the uninitiated. Maybe Persona 3/4 first?

BofFire IV > III and then choose between either I or II. Haven't played Dragons Quarter.

soul hackers on 3ds is good and not too hard

Don't listen to this plebeian faggot:

Final Fantasy

Start with 6.
End with 7.
Skip everything else.

the MSX games you can skip, just read the plot synopsis online somewhere

for the PS1 and forward games, chronological is fine, but play Twin Snakes instead of MGS1, because it's the same thing, done with MGS2's engine.

Metal Gear Solid
I'm serious.
I played the original on PSX way back then, and even tried emulating it later.
That Psycho Mantis fight. I got stuck on it and was never interested enough to continue.
Later on I discovered how to win it but never bothered going back.

Ace Attorney.

Thank you.

Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, and pretty much the rest of the ps2 exclusives

...

Devil May Cry

Yakuza, I already beat the first one (what an awful dub, I've never heard a dub with such little emotion). Should I just continue in the obvious order?

he's wrong though. 2 is the best if you care for a good story and characters

>Jak & Daxter
Play the first two. If you don't like 2, don't get high hopes for 3. 2 and 3 are a whole different thing than 1.
>Ratchet & Clank
The first three are must-plays. Deadlocked and Size Matters are standalone so it's up to you. I can't speak on the PS3 ones cause I haven't played them. For the originals though, there isn't much in the way of innovation. 2 polishes a lot of the stuff from 1, sets the groundwork for the rest of the series. Deadlocked is the only significant departure from the formula.
>Sly
1 is alright, has some annoying minigames. 2 is fucking GOAT, really fantastic game. 3 is functionality just about the same as 2 but jams too many playable characters into too small a space, and then 4 jams even more playable characters into an even smaller space.

I just bought this because I want to work my way up to V.

Can I skip any games?
comes with
>Metal Gear
>Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake
>Metal Gear Solid
>Metal Gear Solid VR Missions
>Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty
>Metal Gear solid 3 Snake Eater
>Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots
>Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
>Metal Gear Solid Bande Dessinee
>Metal Gear Solid 2 Bande Dessinee

Persona 3 it is then.

forgot pic

I've started with Persona 1 and 2
Don't do it.
P1 is just a 5/10 and 2 (Innocent Sin) a 4/10, I dunno about P2 Eternal Punishment.

Probably I should have started with the IOs remakes of SMT 1 and 2.

Play DMC1
Skip DMC2
Play DMC3
Play DMC4

DmC: Devil May Cry isn't much the same game. It's more a flashy 3D brawler like God of War than the rest of the series. As long as you're fine with that and don't mind the character, it's enjoyable. If you're playing DMC just for the DMC, though, you should stay away from it.

I've never played a Pokemon game before.

>Breath of Fire
Just don't play 1 and 2, they are the perfect example of nostalgia googles, extremely mediocre JRPGs for their time, but also the first one many people played and so they love them unconditionally. Any of the classic SNES JRPGs (The two DQ, Chrono Trigger, the three FF etc.) are FAR better.

Haven't played the rest of the saga.

you can easily skip V, nothing of value will be lost.

Do you like turn-based strategy games?

Legend of Zelda

Xenosaga, but I'm assuming it's just play 1-3 in order.

Play Shogun II

Ace Combat. I can emulate or play physical.

was thinking of play uncharted. but it looks like a game without replay value

This: Although I'd add FF XII but ONLY if you really, really LOVE to explore. It has one of the nicest world in gaming, and the story is decent enough, but the combat system is awful (thank god for the turbo mode in the zodiac version).

2,4,5,0, and 6 are mandatory. 1 and 3 are also good, but skippable. Avoid Assault Horizon like the plague.

systems owned: PC, gba, ds, dsi, 3ds, gc, wii, ps2, ps1 memory card.

Sky Cooper
Super Mario Galaxy
I'll likely get Dragon Quest 7 and 8 on the 3DS, but with the ps2 I own, should I get others? Should I get the ps2 version of the two as well?
Fire Emblem: A friend let me try out the one for the gba once, I wasn't too fond of it but I'm thinking about trying it out again,
Monster Hunter
Kingdom Hearts
Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove
Golden Sun
Boktai
Digimon (World)
Super Mario Land/Wario Land/Wario Ware
Prince of Persia
Metroid
Castlevania
Are the last two Tak games worth it?
Fatal Frame
Hitman
Shadowhearts 1 good? Or skip to Covenant?
Star Ocean
Monster Rancher
Grandia
BlazBlue
Guilty Gear

3jp, 4, 5, Zero
Optional: 6, X, JA, 2/3DS
Avoid: air combat, AH

>people asking how to get into games with only 2 or 3 entries.

It really doesn't matter too much if you are just looking for the general experience of a Pokemon game. Every single one, from Pokemon Blue to Pokemon Y, has the same basic fight pokemon, catch pokemon, go to the next down system. They're all fairly similar enough that you could probably even pick up one of the new Pokemon Sun/Moon games and get exactly the same thing.

If you did want some differences, then the original games (Red/Blue/Yellow) and the remakes (FireRed/LeafGreen) did the best job of just letting you go off and wander around as you'd like. The fact that people argue about the "correct" route to take in the game and even the proper order of gym leaders is a good indication that this is correct. It's still rather linear - routes and paths just go from one place to another - but you're open to go in a lot of different directions from there. FireRed/LeafGreen would probably be better, due to the updates the games received.

The third generation (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) felt somewhat the same, at least to me. It was ultimately more linear than the first generation, but it certainly still felt open, probably thanks to routes looping back onto previously visited areas, lots of interconnection, and freedom to swim wherever you want in the ocean area. The remakes (OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire) were, apparently, disappointing. They made the games 3D but took out a number of features. Emerald is generally considered the best out of these games, due to the extra stuff in it.

(cont.)

>Fire Emblem
Try Awakening, If you like that, then you'll like most other FE games as this one is considered the worse although I think it's the second best

>Monster Hunter
This is really a gray area, it depends on what you want. If you want difficulty, play Freedom Unite (PSP). If you want to be stylish, 4U and Genenerations is good (3DS). Though I honestly think you should start with 3 Ultimate, as it's pretty easy but difficult at times, and teaches you the basics very well (3DS/Wii U)

...

DDS1 & 2 are currently on sale by the way.

Redpill me on S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Thanks user

Play in this order:
Pokémon Fire red or Leaf Green
Pokémon Heart Gold or Soul Silver
Pokémon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire
Pokémon Platinum
Pokémon Black or White
Pokémon Black 2 or White 2
Pokémon X or Y, and you're good to go.
Play in the chronological order.

>That user who asked how to get into Bayonetta

(cont.)

The second generation (Gold/Silver/Crystal) and remakes (HeartGold/SoulSilver) always felt too linear to me. You took one giant loop around the map in playing the game, then had access to a somewhat smaller version of the first game's map. It did have a lot of time-based features, like shops or pokemon that are available just in the mornings or evenings. You also got basically twice the map in the games. On the other hand, it felt like a "more of the same" sequel, not really doing much interesting with the series. HeartGold/SoulSilver is considered the best there, especially with the new abilities and physical/special split.

Fourth generation (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum) was quite disappointing. There was an extreme lack of pokemon in the game, in part because most of the "new" pokemon that generation were special evolutions that were locked away until postgame. It also felt quite linear, which is rather odd given the map. You kept needing to wander through a cave and requiring a large number of HMs to progress, something which would be sending red flags to you if you'd played any other Pokemon game. I've heard that Platinum fixed some of the game's problems (at least battles didn't load slowly) but not necessarily all.

The sixth generation, Pokemon Black/White, held some promise. I guess the idea of entirely new pokemon doesn't mean much to someone who's never played the games, but it introduced a bunch of new types and a bunch of useful pokemon who might otherwise have been useless, so it's good to see so many pokemon who could be used. Unfortunately, the game is depressingly linear. And when I say that, I don't mean that other routes are blocked off and so you are herded in the right direction. I mean that you walk into a town, have a silly blockade of NPCs, must do whatever in-town events to progress, find the NPCs gone, go to the next down, find the next blockade, etc. It might not bother you, but it certainly did bother me.

Tales of the Abyss was really good, and since your 3DS dude, I assume you would find it the most comfortable. It's a ps2 game but got remastered for the 3ds. If consoles aren't your limit, then I would say (DS) Tales of Innocence or (XB360/PS3 *superior version*) Vesperia. I would mainly start with Symphonia though (not the pc port).

Start with the first one, obviously.
I wouldn't recommend skipping any of the games, spin-offs are optional though. Give Ace Attorney Investigations a try.
Must plays: original trilogy. Avoid the iOS versions and you're good to go.

>Wipeout
You can go straight to 2097 without much hassle, although I recommend checking out the first, it's a pretty fine game just a bit thin contentwise. Watch out for 3 as there's a special edition which fucks with the physics in ways you might not like it but has more tracks.
Fusion is mediocre and forgettable. Also HD was alright, but I prefer the original three.

Haven't played the portable ones tho, they might be fine.

Not a series but I want to get into Suda51 games.

Then just play them you autistic retard

I like room escape games, so 999. Never played it and I think there are more in the series but they have different names

I heard the 3DS version was pretty bad though. Is it really a good starting point?

I had already bought Vesperia for 360 during a sale, hadn't touched it yet since I wasn't sure where to begin in the series.

Thanks for the info, here's a return database.

Are you looking to 'play all gens' or just play the ones that are good? Because Platinum, HG/SS, then B/W/B2/W2 are the only ones you need to play if it's the latter. Then get S/M and ignore Gen6, it was overall shit.

Can someone redpill me on Kingdom Hearts games? I have only played the 1 in the ps2 a couple of years ago.

Zelda. It looks great, but for some reason I've just never played any. I've heard the timeline or something like that is unclear too, so I'm not sure where to start or if it matters.

It goes
999
Virtues Last Reward
Zero Time Dilemma

Isn't more autistic missing the point of the thread? Imagine, brother, imagine.

999 is pretty bad. It's barely room escape and more contrived bullshit story riddled with painfully obvious contradictions that tries way too hard to solve narrative problems it then reinforces instead.

You can start anywhere in zelda

My point was there's no continuity or anything with Suda51 games, you can just play whatever

>he just threw a fishing pole right into the water

>Siren
>Project Zero
>Clock Tower
Please

Ocarina of time is a great one to start with to get you into the whole Zelda formula, but I would say Wind Waker wiiu because COMFY. If you don't want to play a 3d zelda, then links awakaning DX is a good start or minish cap if your try to stay in a more modern time

>Xenosaga, but I'm assuming it's just play 1-3 in order.
Yep. They're story-focused and so while one game might be annoying (frequently people complain about Xenosaga 2) you'd still want to get through it to see the story events.

>Dragon Quest
DQ5 and/or DQ8 is the common recommended starting game. I would recommend DQ4, DQ5, and DQ6 on DS along with DQ7 and (hopefully) DQ8 on 3DS. If you like the series, then pick up DQ3 on Game Boy Color and DQ9 on DS. I'm not sure what the changes between PS1 DQ7 and 3DS DQ7 were, but for the most part it seems like a general improvement. DQ8 might not see such an improvement, and especially if you want to get into it, finding the PS2 title might just be the better option. But we can hope the 3DS version turns out pretty good, as well.

>Golden Sun
There's only three games and the first two are linked together, so just play the first two and pick up the third if you want some more. I'm not familiar with how good the third game (Golden Sun: Dark Dawn) was, though.

>Boktai
I've only played the first game, and would recommend playing that. Definitely get a GBA cartridge if you can find one, as I think it looses something on an emulator. Not sure about the others.

>Digimon (World)
They're not connected so you might as well pick up the most recent one: Cyber Sleuth. As far as I'm aware, the mechanics have become somewhat standard since the DS titles so there is now some consistency between games. I played Digimon World Dusk and, while the main game was fairly decent, then endgame was incredibly dull and grindy. The only other title of note was Digimon World 2, which was a Mystery Dungeon-like title where you mixed monsters for newer, stronger ones.

I'd suggest you to play them in release order. But if you find hard to digest 2D games, Ocarina of Time is a good starting point. Purists will tell you to play the n64 version but if I were you, I'd play the 3DS one.

So where should I start?

Atelier Series

Start with Nocturne or IV
Skip spinoffs
Nocturne, 2 and Strange Journey are must plays

Tales of

Start with Phantasia, Vesperia or Symphonia
Skip every Escort title ( aselia.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Escort_Titles ) and Zestiria
Vesperia, Graces (for the combat system) and Xillia 2 are must plays

Play everything, cronologically as well, you can skip Apollo Justice if you want, just read the first and last case plot on the wiki, also don't skip Investigations 1 and 2 just because they're spinoffs (gameplay wise)

The best ones are 3 and 4, play 1 if you got free time, skip 2 and play DmC for hilarity

The best ones are FireRed Leaf Green, Emerald, Platinum, HeartGold SoulSilver and BW1&2, skip everything else

play Ocarina of Time, A link to the past, minish cap and Twilight Princess, skip everything else

Stalker. I have Clear Sky and call of Pripyat.
One old friend told me to play with mods but another told me to play through it without them.
I don't play or talk to either of them anymore so I cant really ask which one I should play through first and how.

>Not playing the series in order, starting with the original.

ISHYGDDT

Mass Effect

Just don't

999 is the first one which you start with
then play VLR
then play ZTD

Shadow Heart
Secret of Mana
Castlemania SotN and its kin
Terranigma
Ganpuru: Gunman's Proof

I see some very shitty suggestions in this thread. Like

VR Missions is more of an add-on, play it if you want more arcade-stealth challenges.
MGS1 has a synopsis of the first two games's stories (and obviously there's Wikipedia), so if the oldschool graphics throw you off, you can skip them. Definitely give both of them a try though.
MGS1-4 and PW are an absolute necessity.

I played the 1 and I enjoyed it, I still haven't finished it though because I don't have much time, but it's great, specially for those who have read sci-fi books

Play all of them in order, great trilogy. Best game is 2. Don't know about best girl since I'm not a waifu fag.

Resident Evil.

More specifically, which versions are the best?

>Monster Rancher
There are two games you should probably play in this series.

Monster Rancher 2 is a fairly "standard" Monster Rancher title. It does one of the best jobs of handling monster personalities, which means that raising a Pixie actually feels different from raising a Golem or raising a Hare. The mechanics are fairly complex as well, especially with Good/Evil moves and sub-typing moves and all the hidden stuff. However, it does have some archaic mechanisms like requiring you to scan a disc every time you want a new monster (rather than logging it into a book) and some buggy mechanics. It is still very good, if you get into it.

The other is Monster Rancher 4. This game has you raising 3-5 monsters at once and so the personal "touch" of each monster isn't really there. There isn't much difference between a Pixie and a Ripper on the farm, outside what stats to train. On the other hand, this game has actual dungeon exploration with a party of 3, complete with monster skills which allow you to travel around and skills which help gather items. It also includes bosses to fight to progress a storyline, and things like the monster book (you don't need to pull out a CD to scan to generate a monster, if you've raised one) and disk fragements, which will put monster entries in your book for monster types you don't have CDs for.

Some of the other games are fairly good - I liked Monster Rancher 1 and the Advance titles - but those two are generally considered the best. There's also the card games, which are fun but fairly limited in viable strategies.

>Sly Cooper
you can play all 3 of the main series games on the PS2, all of them are worth playing. Play in order for the storyline.

1 is good, 2 is awesome, and 3 is pretty good but not amazing.

4 is good too, but you need a PS3 or Vita to play it, unless there was a PS3 emulator released that I don't know about.

Start Metal Gear Solid (PS1 version, not that twin trash)

Continue MGS 2: Sons of Liberty, then MGS 3: Snake Eater (PS2 version is the way it is meant to be played by Kojima when it comes to camera movement, PS3 version has free camera which is a quality of life improvement)

Don't touch MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots or MGS V: Phantom Pain

>Grandia
The games are not connected, so no worries there. Grandia 1 is about a young teenage boy, Justin, who wants to be an adventurer and sets off to see his dream. Grandia 2 is about a a pessimistic mercenary, Ryudo, who ends up protecting a priestess Elena who fucked up a magic ritual, and now needs to deal with sealing a demon. Grandia 3 is about Yuki, a young man who finds a lost girl, Alfina, and sets off to help her find her home. All three are rather light hearted (even Grandia 2, which deals in some rather dark and philosophical questions) and have some great combat, so just pick whichever sounds most interesting and start with that.

Grandia Xtreme is a fairly dull dungeon crawler, expect that the dungeons are always the same, monsters don't respawn unless you leave and re-enter another day, and you are expected to run through the same dungeons over and over and over again. I mean, I like Grandia and I like the Grandia combat, but this just got dull. The fact that you will likely be playing with two or three characters in every run out of a party of four (main character is required, thief you'll want in case of rare items) and the game becomes incredibly repetitive incredibly fast.

Grandia: Parallel Trippers is the last game, an incredibly strange little Japan-only title for the Game Boy Color. (so, emulator with translation) It's certainly not bad and kind of half a joke - you're basically an OC dropped into the setting of the first game - but it's a more standard RPG and the story is fairly simple: go to the place, gather the thing/hit the thing, go to the next place. It's not terrible, just doesn't stand out beyond some strange combat and mechanics. I've not finished it myself, but I would only recommend it if you enjoyed the Grandia games and want to see something new. Obviously, only play this after playing Grandia 1, because it might spoil bits otherwise.

>resident evil
>silent hill
>dragons quest
>fire emblem
>S.T.A.L.K.E.R
>Kirby
>kingdom hearts
>castlevania

How important is MGS1? I never finished it and I currently have the Vita collection; honestly, I just want to play MGS2.

Atelier.

also dues ex

>Dragon Quest
7 or 9 are good entry points

>Kirby
Anywhere is fine, but Triple Deluxe and Super Star are great, not sure how the robo game is

Start Final Fantasy X, continue with Final Fantasy VII and then IX

IX because it is a tribute to every other Final Fantasy

Very special taste is VIII, you will love or hate it, it's an oddball

At least watch this

youtube.com/watch?v=MeYbHWQrM9A

It's pretty important, you can emulate it on your toaster probably
Ignore that faggot, play MGS4 but you can skip TPP.

my nigga

Why not MGS 4 I bought it already. Is it that bad?

MGS 5 is fun but the story is shit

MGS1 is very important in getting into the mind of the series, without skipping code conversations. It makes MGS 2 much better because even if I tell you the ending of MGS 2 I still won't spoil the game, just trust me you need to PLAY (not watch youtube) through the entirety of MGS 1, and I have to say it again, no Twin Snakes. Twin Snakes is a matrix-esque butchered version of a solid game.

I'll finish MGS1 then. Thanks, anons.

MGS 4 is shitting on everything that happened in MGS 1, 2 and 3, it's like ending to Mass Effect 3: The Movie. The game actually is 30 minutes cutscene, 5 minutes gameplay ad nauseum. It has some cool moments, but in my opinion it's just not worth it.

>dragons quest
See where I mentioned the series.

>Atelier
There are two starting points I'd recommend: Atelier Rorona Plus or Mana Khemia. Both of them focus on the crafting and gathering resources on a time limit - in the form of days, limiting how much you can rest/visit different areas. Combat is more a method of getting rid of enemies to give you free access to an area. Of the two, Mana Khemia was more difficult and put a bigger stress on failing soon, but was a lot more obtuse in telling you what forumlas would work. Atelier Rorona Plus was a lot easier in that regard, but it paid in the form of a fairly poor story and a shit main character.

Of which games to play:
>Mana Khemia
>Mana Khemia 2 (I assume, haven't played myself)
>Atelier Rorona Plus
>Atelier Totori Plus
>Atelier Meruru Plus
>Atelier Ayesha Plus
>etc
Just keep playing the newer Atelier games until you reach the current game, or until you start hitting the bad ones. I'm not exactly sure when, but the quality apparently dropped a bit in some later titles.

When possible, pick up the Atelier Plus titles - they have the extras and in the case of Atelier Rorona Plus, a much better combat system. The Atelier games pre-Mana Khemia are far more standard JRPGs, not really at all like the more current Atelier games, so let that help you decide.

I'd also recommend against Atelier Annie, as that was really unimpressive in handing out materials and so really annoying trying to do anything within the time limits.

Rune Factory.

I liked Harvest Moon 64 and Stardew Valley.

I only have PC though. I haven't looked into it and don't know if there are any emulators.

>Why not MGS 4 I bought it already. Is it that bad?
If your autism can't handle the occasional plothole, yes.
If you care about the actual gameplay, it's probably the peak of the series.
Protip: You can skip cutscenes.

Is it a meme that 4 has a 3 hour cutscene?

I'm pretty sure there's no 3 hour cutscenes but there are a lot of them and they are long, the longest one being at the end. I don't know why people get so upset over this since the whole franchise has a lot of cutscenes, that's part of what I love about it.

The longest cutscene is about 70 minutes long.

I believe the final cutscenes and credits total around 45 minutes.

Thanks, user. The Atelier fanbase has to be one of the most decent ones out there.

Age of Empire and Burnout

>Rune Factory
Rune Factory 3, Rune Factory 4, or Rune Factory Frontier are going to be the best entry points.

Frontier is the closest to Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley, but it also has the annoying Runeys mechanics which requires a lot of time-wasting micromanagement every day to get things efficient. On the other hand, the town is great in 3D and there is a lot to do and a lot of good characters to talk with in town.

Rune Factory 3 and Rune Factory 4 allow you to basically ignore gardening entirely if you want. They're much more about the wacky cast of characters in town, the various dungeons and areas you can fight in, and all the activities you can do. You can certainly farm and raise animals, but that will just take up a fraction of your time and stamina, and so you are free to run around as you'd like. The games are a lot of fun, but maybe not the first title you'd think about if you want something similar to Harvest Moon 64.

Of the others, Rune Factory 1 was the closest to a Harvest Moon game. Stamina was a big limitation, and farming was still a challenge and time consuming. However, the town was tiny (all the houses were lined up along three flat screens) and the dungeons could get annoying, especially if you ran low on stamina fighting a boss. Rune Factory 2 tried to do something different, with a generation system somewhat like Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. It was certainly interesting, especially if you were looking at playing as your kid, but the beginning of the game was incredibly restricted as a result.

please respond

I'm sold.
Thanks a bunch user.
Lookin' up Frontier

>I don't know why people get so upset over this since the whole franchise has a lot of cutscenes, that's part of what I love about it.
I fucking loved watching the debriefings. Maximum comfiness.

Emulate the first Clocktower, find a translated version. If you can get behind some very outdated lookss play the second game for the ps1.

Haunted grounds is very fun too

Metal gear solid
Fallout
Ultima

Persona i hear alot about on Cred Forums dont play japanese games but my gf made me watch Log Horizon also some Hyper Neptunia or something?

Fallout: Play 1+2+3+NV+4 and skip tactics the first playthough in all 3+NV+4 is good despite what Cred Forums says its just when you keep restarting is when you see its flaws

>Ultima
Ultima 4 is certainly still original, and worth checking out. It's freeware as well, a definite plus. You can get U4 for free off GOG. However, the system can be VERY old depending on which version you find. The version I had was still using NSEW for movement, along with a whole library of keys for opening your different menus. If you do manage to find and enjoy U4, then definitely try out Ultima 5 and Ultima 6 - they follow up on the events that happened in U4.

Ultima 7 and Serpent Isle - an expansion with a completely new location - are the other good Ultima games. They are more of a traditional RPG, with characters and a plot about stopping the world being destroyed, but it's all fairly good and some of the better old-school RPGs. The series quickly went downhill afterwards, though. Ultima 8 played like crap, even if the events in it were a good followup to what happened in Ultima 7. Unfortunately, Ultima 9 was complete garbage, basically throwing out everything that came before it for a blatant cash-grab.

Other than that, Ultima Underworld is a fairly good (and difficulty) first-person dungeon game.

>Hyper Neptunia or something
Hyperdimension Neptunia, and the best recommendation is to just stay away from the series entirely.

Play the metal gears in order of release. You should play the MSX ones but if you dont atlest look up what happens or all cutscenes on youtube

Yes, play them in order. You can skip the spin-offs unless you really love the characters.

AoE2 and Burnout 3

Megaman

Yes I didn't play that,please don't call me a fag

Senpai, I have autism, I need to start new series from the earliest release to the latest. Maybe some of you can convince me:

>Dragon Quest

Normally I'd start on the NES versions, but since there are a fuckton of remakes, can I skip all the originals and go straight to the remakes for the better gameplay?

>Kingdom Hearts

Buy a PS3 for the collections or wait for the inevitable PS4 releases?

>Suikoden

I only hear that II is the best, what the fuck about the others?

>Star Ocean

I beat Tales of Phantasia on SFamicom, will I like this?

Gen 6 is X and Y, Black and White are Gen 5

The original metal gears are good games by their standards, but can be hard to finish off nowadays,as they had some pretty frustrating flaws.

Play the the solids In order,3 Is a prequel, but the information Is more smooth when you play them In order.
Play 4 only If you really liked the story.

Play suikoden 1 before 2,both are linked and have reccuring characters, you have to grow a bond to those characters for events In 2 to really hit you.

Obvious introduction to it is Mega Man 2. Must plays are Mega Man 3 and X. If you like 2 & 3, try Battle Network 2 & 3 for an alternative spin-off. If you like X, continue on until X4/X5, or go straight into Zero series for being the "most mature".

Play Order:

Ace Attorney
Justice for All
Trials and Tribulations
Apollo Justice
Dual Destinies
Spirit of Justice

Eachbof these are mandatory, and it is also required thatbthey are played in this order, don't listen if someone says otherwise.

The two Miles Edgeworth games are optional, but can be played (in subsequent order) at any point after the first couple of games, though I'd recommend you finish at least Trials and Tribulations first, to complete the Phoenix Trilogy without any breaks in the story.

Good luck, Ace Attorney is one of my favorite franchises of all time.

wizardry series.

Thanks.

Adapt your anus to be capable of shitting bricks

Also start with 5 for the story,It's related until the 8th game.

Whoops,I mean 6,pardon me chap.

I was a big segafag and a sonygger back in the day, so I have never completed a SNES game or an n64 game.

Dept. Heaven games. Help me out anons.

Armored Core games. Are the PSP ones any good?

Atelier series, or Langrisser.

>Atelier series
Here are my recommendations.

Play super mario world, castlevania 4,A link to the past and megaman X games(on SNES).Also,Earthbound,Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG,If you like RPGs.

On N64,there's the obvious which Is Ocarina of time and Majora's mask, there's also conker's bad furday and banjo kazooie.

Well might as well start with something simple.

Really wanna play Ace attorney.
Please help.

Always wanted to play Silent Hill, I just never knew where to start. What can I do with a 360 and ps4 as far as SH goes?

Metal Gear Solid. How many of these things do I have to play to get the gist?

Go chronolgical and avoid twin snakes like the plague.

Don't miss Donkey Kong Country on the SNES. It's a superb platformer, even better than Super Mario World imo.

Why does everyone overlook the original?

Don't miss the original. Good times

The modern Ninja Gaidens

I've only played the first three, but they're generally considered to be the best ones, so I would play those. There's a copypasta people post in Cred Forums's Silent Hill threads about how to get the first three games running on your PC, and they're from the early 2000's, so even a shitty computer by today's standards would probably be able to run them fine. SH1 is also on the PS1, and SH2 and 3 are on the PS2, so you can just emulate them if you want.

Whatever you do though, avoid the Silent Hill HD collection for the 360. It's literally built from beta code (Konami lost the final builds of Silent Hill 2 and 3) by some developer team that normally does mobile games. As a result, it's a godawful port.

Play them all and enjoy, just be prepared for drastic shifts in tone and gameplay. Also just know going in that your choices don't mean much (in most cases nothing but some flavor text)

Play Ninja Gaiden Black or Sigma if you don't have an OG Xbox. Play 2 on 360 or PS3 the PS3 version has less blood if I recall correctly. Do not play vanilla Ninja Gaiden 3. Get a copy of NG 3 Razor's Edge; it makes the game actually decent. Avoid Yaiba at all costs.

Hyperdimension Neptunia.

I love the series, but it's not for everyone.

If you're looking for something with deep combat, then this series won't be for you.

However, if you don't mind simple combat and video game references (and memes) out the ass, then just play the RB games and then V-II.

Of course it's perfectly fine to just play RB1 and skip to V-II since you're not missing out on a whole lot in RB 2/3. It's also important to note the series actually starts from RB 2 onward since RB1 is it's own thing.

TL;DR version, play RB1 if you like it enough play RB 2 and 3, then V-II (and yes it's actually V-II not VII as in 7.)

Start with the first game and go throughout the trilogy. PW:AA, -> Justice for All -> Trials and Tribulations. Just pick up an emulator like Desmume and get to it. Best girl is Maya, no contest. Then Apollo Justice. AJ is a good game.

You CAN skip Edgeworth's Investigations, but I do not recommend it. Prosecutor's path is simply too good to pass up. You can skip the first Investigations, its not that good. You'd be a little confused with the characters though.

Someone will have to fill you in on the 3ds games, I've actually never played any of them.

Armoured Core, and mech games in general

Blazblue

i only have a PS3 and am getting a ps4 eventually
