I actually really like the game so far except for some of the new music. It seems really weird and messy, for lack of a better word. The main battle theme in particular is awful and sounds offkey, especially when they play the original battle theme from 4 in the domains.

Aside from that I like almost all the changes they made, aside from no demons that I've seen so far at level 22 having any nulls beyond i think archangel.

I'm playing IV right now but was the compendium always this fucking expensive? I played Nocturne, SJ, and all the other Personas before and I never remembered even low rank demons being so expensive to get.

You're about 2 major fights away from the next one. You get Skill Expansion 2 and Demon Skill Expansion 2 at the same time. Maybe 2 hours of gameplay.

IV's compendium places a lot more value in resist/null/absorb skills than the other games do. Means something like Pyro Jack with Resist Ice ends up having a high summon cost. The discount apps you can get for summoning help a lot though.

It reuses the best parts of the SMT IV soundtrack and has a better overworld theme. Definitely top tier.

Soul Hackers was my first SMT. I loved it. I got it when it first got rereleased and I love the cyberpunky feel to it. Paradigm X felt like summer wars to me.

I was surprised also but landed enough early debuffs and buffs on the first turn to make the fight a cakewalk. I was a little letdown so hopefully Odin is a better fight.

The system introduced in this game is is the one thing I hope all future Titles learn from this game.

I like being able to choose skills during Fusion, rather than dealing with Random skills (exiting the fusion and redoing it over and over), but Random had it's benefits by having certain demons prefer certain skills (Good luck fusing a good Thanatos in P3 if any of the ingredients have Mudo).

The System in Apocalypse is the perfect balance between the two.

Otherwise I have a lot of problems with the IV duology.

If you're talking about Classic SMT, there was no skill inheritance, and that's okay too.

If you're talking about IV, Any Demon could inherit any skill regardless of if it fit with the theme of the demon (Like, Agi on a Jack Frost), with no disadvanage. I believe Persona 4 Golden did this as Well.

Apocalypse has demons have certain affinities towards certain types of spells that affect Damage and Accuracy, so while you COULD put Agi on Jack Frost, the Agi Spell would be nerfed.

It did but they streamlined it for Apocalypse. Early on it was a pain to find certain places that quests required you to go to. Apocalypse vastly helps with connecting bridges and the ability to see names of places and smaller locations. It's a real godsend, no pun intended.

Atlus was ahead of their time

Nozomi is pretty good early to mid game since she has a few debuffs that are pretty effective on enemies. Used her until Toki showed up.
Asahi and Isabeau have heals. Isabeau has single target magic that's ok, Asahi also has status removers and helps save your own MP on healing spells.
Gaston makes Shesha even easier, and once he gets pierce, he's actually not bad.
Hallelujah shuts down Krishna, and once he reveals himself, True Agi and Bufu are pretty strong, along with Megidoloan (or was it Megidola)
Navarre is definitely handy on bosses, but once you start carrying around your own buffs you kinda forget about him.
I mostly used Toki though because her skills are really good for a physical attacker like her. Especially that instant kill on trash mobs.
