Well whatever caused the shadow bug in Jak was fixed. I deleted 2 and 3 so I can't see if that green skin issue is still present.

Emuparadise is really slow today so this thread will die before I can try Jak 2, but Dirge is totally fixed as of last week, that's pretty cool.

As I thought, the game has heavy slowdowns.

Ratchet bugs are minimal but it's runs so slow.

But it do.

Software is more accurate but slow and native resolution. Hardware is the opposite.

Software mode dumps all of the work on the CPU in order to be as accurate as possible. CPUs can't crunch as much data as fast as GPU though so it's slower.
Hardware mode is the opposite: the load is balanced between GPU and CPU but the instructions are modified in order to fully exploit the GPU, but that causes glitches and other inaccuracies.

Software mode works on the CPU. CPUs are made to be flexible so you can do pretty much anything there, but on the other hand CPUs are not optimized towards graphics processing so they're an order of magnitude slower than GPUs at rendering tasks.

Hardware mode runs on the GPU, which should be much faster but also less flexible since it's restricted to what the graphic APIs (D3D, OGL) and the drivers specify. This lack of flexibility leads to inaccuracies and also necessitates messy workarounds to try and get around API limitations.

No user, software mode has been fixed for years, it's hardware mode that's getting fixed right now. R&C runs fullspeed now with minor glitches.

Download the latest nightly and add this line to inis/GSdx.ini and make sure Mipmap support is turned on in software mode (it still shares code from SW mode, but this is for HW mode):

Software mode in Jak games had issues last week still and some of them have been fixed and more issues will be fixed soon.

This is the only shot in that scene where the game doesn't crash down to sub-60fps

It's strange but I tried emulating games I already played a couple of years ago and they all lag on new emulator versions. And they didn't back then and of course I don't remember what version I used back then.

Accuracy has improved and drivers have changed. Use opengl now, should be faster.

I tried everything, even changed resolution to native and it seems it had no impact at all. I tried nocturne and dark cloud2.

Proper mipmapping in the Ratchet and Clank games would be so fucking great. I really want to replay though at 1080p.

those games should run on anything so you should probably upgrade or reformat your pc.

Shit, current Naughty Dog thinks telling deep personal stories is priority number one these days anyways, so you definitely don't want them doing it
