conquest's maps

the fixing of pair-up

that's about it

The Ost is great as well, a lot better than awakening for sure

It was pirateable.

I couldn't even finish Birthright, it was beyond worse than I expected.

Ost was pretty top tier tho.

youtube.com/watch?v=tq0bxkvKVDI

you're right, I had forgotten how good it was

youtube.com/watch?v=Pz2LJ-4DDWU

I still remember being hyped beyond belief by this trailer

and immensely let down once I heard about the DLC strategy

and then how bad the story was

Conquest was still good though

Nothing it was awful I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. I even got the collectors edition all on once cartridge.

Awakening was better

So, i have awakening. Art looks fucking outstading. People here say its bad, but it looks good. Should i play it? Or should i play FE 7 instead?

good gameplay and big titty waifus

The porn went right

feet

play FE7 first because the tutorial will be a pain in the ass if you've already played FE before

reminder that he's /our guy/

That or path of radiance. I guess you could still get some kicks out of Awakening if you've never played anything else, I did anyway before playing the others.

>the fixing of pair-up
But it wasn't. You still had to do defensive pair ups everywhere to have the stats needed to survive, at least in conquest hard mode. At least they made pair up less RNG focused, that was a good change.

Literally everyone says this but I didn't give a shit and I played through Awakening twice before playing 7.

I REFUSE TO BUY THE NEXT FE IF IT DOESN'T LET ME SUMMON SKELLIES LIKE IN SACRED STONES

play it and go back and play 7 then go up

youtube.com/watch?v=N-K63ixr6ns

the story would be indisputably 1000x better if Corrin and Azura were completely removed and it was just about the conflict between the 2 nations

I'm pretty sure most people in this thread could come up with a better story than fates' in 5 minutes even

Gameplay of Conquest, OST and tits. Unfortunately it's still deeply flawed and desperately needs new writers for the next one.

Yeah most of the dumb shit comes crom those two somehow, not counting the general appeal to Japanese nationalism and Gooran. Xander and Ryoma have their moments but otherwise most everyone is passable.

Maniac Conquest was probably the 5th best FE game.

Everything else was trash

I beat the game on lunatic and there were countless situations where it was better to have units in an attack stance formation.

lemme try
>Nohr fights because living in mordor sucks and they want land that can actually grow shit and not pay taxes to the hoshidans for using them
>Hoshido fights on self defense after the numerous attacks on their innocent people
>World's #1 Dad isn't a literal slmieball
>Invisidad keeps fucking up any possible peace treaty with insiders
>Corrin grows from sheltered kid to competent leader and actually tries changing Nohr from the inside instead of listening to Azura's brilliant plan of waging more war to stop the war

>They brought back Anna as a possible Avatar support

don't mind me, just posting the best fates royal

>YOU ARE THE OCEAN'S GREY WAVES x8000000
Sure, man, sure.

Add "Azura is secretly working for Invisidad and keeps trying to fuck things up on purpose" and it sounds like a decent template.

These, plus weapons not losing durability, even if the system needs work. Maybe a larger variety of weapons like one that scales off of Def rather than Str would fix it as opposed to the ones we had that all gave stat losses on use.

Other than that, it was pretty shit. I finished Birthright and got halfway through Conquest and just...quit. I don't know if it was the bad localization or lack of customization since each character can't be re-leveled from 1 like in Awakening.

I wouldn't say that's true, even in conquest hard mode.

While there is still a ton of pairing up it's not because the units need the stats to survive, it's because you have the spare deployment slots and some units have no drawback when paired up.

The best Fates royal is the one who avoids getting too caught up in the retarded plot.

user come on now

He gets DLC that retroactively makes him one of the biggest retards in the game instead

How memetastic was Treehouse's localization?
Did they remove dual audio?
How awkward and stilted is the fan translation?

I really wanted to pick up these games up but the drama surrounding the release made me not want to bother.

What the hell did they do to Leo this time
>How memetastic was Treehouse's localization?
Changed a whole support for a ... exchange.
I wish I was kidding.
>Did they remove dual audio?
Yes, which makes zero sense since Awakening had it.
>How awkward and stilted is the fan translation?
As awkward as one would expect from a fan translation + untranslated lines right and left.

>the one who avoids getting too caught up in the retarded plot.
That's Hinoka, since she doesn't get much to do in anything.

Very, with some characters being changed for the worst, like Effie and the infamous "..." support.
Yes.
Pretty bad but not really any worse than the localization aside from some more typos.

Oh yeah, Hisame went from "serious battle dude" to "kid obsessed with pickles".
And Elfie went from Gentle Giant archetype to a /fit/izen parody.

>How memetastic was Treehouse's localization?
Pretty bad. Some characters had complete personality changes and in one case, a support was removed. Game should be playable though

>Did they remove dual audio?
Yes

>How awkward and stilted is the fan translation?
a bunch of untranslated supports, spelling/grammar errors (lol

I'd honestly take the awkward translation and read the supports that didn't get translated. Or just learn moon, since this won't be the only translation that treehouse fucks up

Any good translation fixer hacks for this game? I dropped it to play the older FE games and to do a no grind run in Awakening since I abused the fuck out of the DLC.

>customization since each character can't be re-leveled from 1 like in Awakening.
Cancer post-Awakening fan get out reeee

>Or just learn moon
It's really getting to the point where I might as well consider trying.

Almost all I play is weebshit anyway.

Story is not engaging, but the gameplay is fun.

I did it for my job, but playing untranslated/uncensored games is really nice

>since each character can't be re-leveled from 1 like in Awakening
This was an improvement, honestly.
Parallel Crests were too overpowered.

>customization since each character can't be re-leveled from 1 like in Awakening.

This sort of thing is why the gameplay lost all sort of sense of what the fuck it was going for. Fire Emblem used to be a strategy game with RPG elements, now it's trying to be Disgaea with its "grind and collect skills to deal moar damage"

The gameplay is improved from Awakening, but now it's breakable in easier ways.

Conquest has a handful of decent maps, but they're frontloaded in the campaign.

No more toliet knights? That's all I really got. Nearly everything else about this game was an utter disaster.

I already got to that point. Shit is fucking ridiculous, and half the stuff I want to read never gets translated anyway, or if it does it takes like 5-10 years.

Still no Amagi LNs completely translated, or White Album 2, or Amagami, or Mahoyo, or... fuck this shit. It may take me 4 years to understand it, but I will no longer depend on translation teams and meme localizations.

pair up

NOT the fucking story

>retarded dragon tells you to do something and fucks up your stats in the process
>carefully disobey all his orders, then go home
Seems like the smart decision.

I like the art, and I think Conquest has some of the best gameplay in the series

No need to spoiler that, I agree.
That plot though, why.
I mean, it's not like FE ever had any good writing, but Conquest is so bad in this aspect that I can't help but complain, that's how bad it is.

>I mean, it's not like FE ever had any good writing
I hope you know that you're a nigger.
youtube.com/watch?v=z5_T3tA6HS4

Joshua's supports were all great.

Come to think of it, most FE8 supports were great. That's what I really liked about the game.

4 and 5 was solid writing-wise. So was 9. Be fair.

The classes are cool, both the new ones, and the old ones with updated designs.

The battle animations are fantastic; there's a variety of cool animations within each class, like how every class has a unique killing blow animation. Some have even more variety, like Swordmasters dual-wielding, or certain classes getting different animations based on using Nip or Euro weapons.

I'd say they're the best in the series, if I wasn't so attached to the GBA sprites and animations.

why is there always a shill trying to salveage conquest's poor sales at the beginning of every thread

does noa think this is actually doing anything

Does Fates have better gameplay than Awakening?

Conquest's maps
the male voices for the most part
they fixed pairup
Lost in the Waves is excellent DLC, I highly recommend it.

Other than that, the game is cut up into three parts (four technically) and has a shitty story in all three parts. the characters are ass the scenarios are ass everything is ass. Do not buy this game. pirate it.

>posting a 0:30 long convo between characters that used to be comrades before the events of the game
That doesn't really prove anything, you know

Conquest's gameplay is better, but the plot is worse.
Revelation is alright.

>Psh, nothin personal, but I have to kill you now

Yes, though it's probably easier to break earlier on, and most anything not Iron or Steel is never going to really get used.

It's still a fine ass conversation nigga.

My only real problem with FE8 is the length; it just feels like a short game. If the part of the game after the reunion was longer, than it'd be my favorite FE.

I know the main issue with FE8 is difficulty, but that's personally not a problem for me. I tend to restrict myself from using the really big gamebreakers anyway, like Seth or the Tower.

Yeah, but you're taking a small conversation from a 15-hour long game here, son.
You gotta look at the big picture here.

I get to put my dick in two incarnations of crazy.
I miss my baby Noire.

It's a weird kind of answer where sort of but not entirely. They put more effort into trying to make it better, but there's still plenty of retarded decisions like not having Restore staves when ailments and debuffs are a bigger pain in the pass than they ever were before. Conquest tries to have maps with better variety of challenge but some are just unfun bullshit like the one against the fox people. Pair Up was fixed and feels like it could be applied so much better now, but it wasn't able to save the game to the extent it really should have.

True, but I was mainly aiming for the
>never had good writing
part of the statement rather than proving it has consistently good writing. 8's got good writing when compared to the rest of the series on average, but even then it's usually nothing special.

I still don't understand how 9 was so strong and 10 was 10. At least Elincia's part was cool.

here's the million-dollar question: how do we fix the supports to make them feel less railroaded into making babies?

Alright, sorry, you're right, let me rephrase what I said then
It's not like FE's writing was anything special, but Conquest is so bad in this aspect that I can't help but complain, that's how bad it is.

>The battle animations are fantastic
I feel they needed to calm down a bit, go with something a little more grounded. More similar to the Tellius games, but more polished.

Which is better:
Conquest, Birthright, or Revelation?
And are any of the DLC maps worth it?

Very simple.
Not make it an eugenics simulator and downsize the number of possible pairs.
That alone can make the dynamics seem more genuine.

You can't.
Blame Awakening's success for that.

Both have their ups and downs. Justice RIP playing 4 maps in a row no matter the route was gay as shit and ruined an otherwise OK song.

not at all. the game is anime weebshit and the animations reflect that very well.

my only real problem is how shit the Hero animations are. holy balls they fight just like the generic mercenary.

I feel a lot of the difficulty issues of the game are caused by the how distortingly powerful the Royals are (in both routes, but especially Conquest). Older games featured a large cast with lots of alternatives, sometimes with pre-promotes coming late in the game as potential replacements - the older generation games on the GBA had something in the 50+ range.

With how strong specific characters are compared to backups, the overall smaller roster, and the fact that children need the parents to be alive, the game feels far more punishing when you lose a character. With the inclusion of casual mode and more emphasis on giving everyone 10+ support partners though I think this shift away from balance around perma-death is here to stay.

Why not just go full on Wars of the Roses and make the plotline a succession dispute, with both sides wanting Corrin because he's the pureblooded heir? This might create a bit of dissonance with the notJapan vs notEurope aesthetic, but full on cultural nation-states is not all that medieval anyway.

10 was rushed as fuck, if the support system wasn't enough of a hint.

The only reasonable way is to no longer have a fuckton of supports for everyone. They can keep the removed support cap, but they're going to have to lower the number of supportees for any real sort of quality to shine through.

Have more Male/Female supports that end at A level.

Or just fucking remove children, the only game that they made sense in was FE4, Awakening would've been fine with Lucina as the only child unit.

I remember playing 10 as soon as it came out and being blown away with how ridiculous certain parts were. There was a fair bit of good, but things like the Blood Pact was just plain goofy. Then there were just completely incompetent missteps like the Black Knight reveal; it felt more like a character was spoiling the script rather than a proper reveal.

How about removing the babies? Then every male-female pairing doesn't have to be written as romance which gives a lot more opportunity to do something interesting.

I enjoyed playing Conquest and liked some of the characters in it, also I like most of the soundtrack including the English version of Aqua's shitty song.

Couldn't force myself to finish Birthright and have no desire to try Revelation.

PoR port/HD when? I want to play it but can't get emulation to work out for me

and it would sell decently I'm sure given Ike's popularity in smash

Conquest by a longshot, just keep in mind that it starts to drop the ball in its later end. And mind you, I'm talking exclusively about gameplay and map design. The story is absolutely miserable the whole way through because everybody is a retard for the sake of forcing a plot with conflict. Revelation tries a whole lot of dumb gimmick ideas for maps which just makes it too easy or too frustrating and Birthright has the exact opposite problem where it's rather barren in design by comparison. I haven't bothered with any of the other DLC to say anything about it.

I think all of the suggestions I'll ever have with the game is that it tries to tone down the weebshit a little bit to more reasonable levels. But if you like the weebshit, that's fine.

Conquest is literally the only route worth a damn, and even then it's a stretch. For reference, I pirated the (lol edition. and I still feel like my time was wasted a bit. The only chapter I really felt like I was having fun on was Chapter 10.

As for DLC, not really, even though there's a bit of DLC that even makes Revelations look like a bad end in the dumbest way.

Well, the obvious answer would be just not have babies.

But I'd say the easiest is just to restrict them more. Instead of making nearly every guy go with every gal, make it a more limited pool, like how Eliwood can only fuck three different girls.

Of course, that isn't a guarantee of quality, but it seems more likely to lead to it.

Well, I'm biased towards the ridiculous animations because the GBA ones were just as, if not more excessive. Personally, I found the Tellius animations to be a bit boring. That's just my taste, though.

You cut out each character having like 8 mating partners. Cut it in half and it would be solid.

>makes Revelations look like a bad end
That sounds terrible.
Which DLC is it?

this motherfucker

1: Knock it off with the kids.
2: Characters have only one or two support options that end in epilogue marriage and a couple opposite-sex friends, or same-sex if they're a token gay.

Cut the number of supports to 5-6 and remoe kids. I find that most characters have at least a handful of decent supports.

Lost in the Waves.

He's probably talking about the seafoam memories or whatever. Where it shows that the big bad dragon just escaped to another parallel universe or some shit and the kid units are the only ones left or whatever. I haven't really looked into it because I can't be assed to either get (lol revelations working and the dlc probably isn't translated.

I forget the name and details of it, but if memory serves it's literally an alternate version of the TRUE BBEG in Revelations that #rekt your team of mercury poisoning victims.

I think the Tellius animations just needed to be a lot more polished. They were trying to go with something a little more similar to the SNES games where positioning of the units during the flow of the attack would have different animations, including crits, but the PoR was a bit awkward and choppy while the SNES animations are fun to watch.

I think the SNES games are a good balance; grounded, yet at the same time flashy classes still manage to be flashy without looking too excessive.

For these fucking retards that can't remember a simple ass plot, the reason the game is called FATES is because every fucking scenario is literally an alternate universe. All these AUs exist simultaneously, each one having an "anankos" to fuck things up. What makes Rev look like a "bad ending" is that all the kids in Heirs of Fate are actually kids from separate deeprealms, meaning the ones that exist (or don't) in Rev aren't real...in a sorta kinda way. Essentially it's retarded AU bullshit.

>the reason the game is called FATES is because every fucking scenario is literally an alternate universe
To be fair, the only real indicator of that is Silas's bullshit, and even then that's easy to miss.

Interesting.
I remember the final DLC maps for Awakening taking place in the Dark Future that all the child units come from (The Future Past)

Ever since Ike was revealed for Brawl almost ten years ago holy shit I've wondered why the fuck they haven't rereleased/remastered the Tellius games. He got people interested, and then nobody could actually buy it unless they were willing to pay at least a hundred bucks for a used copy. It's stupid.

>implying Nintendo can make smart business decisions
They're too up their own ass to give a fuck about what other people want.

just another in a long series of mistakes and missed opportunities by Nintendo

IS was probably too busy with developing other shit to do it and they're probably pumping out another FE right now as we talk.

It's kinda fun to own the games from when they came out and feel smug and superior knowing there are a bunch of teenagers who started with Awakening that can't play the game with "that guy from Brawl." Petty, but kinda fun.

>silas's bullshit
Clue me in, I'm retarded and skipped all of the dialogue regarding silas lol.

look I love FE and all but they really need to get their shit together with map design and story. holy fuck, Fates had a perfect premise but that execution will always be fucking garbage. only reason why I enjoyed Awakening is because I hadn't played a FE since sacred stones in 2000-whatever.

Something about the lunch Silias brought for Corrin changes in each route. You'd have to look for it yourself.

This is probably the localized version of it, but whatever.
>The favorite food that Silas packed for the Avatar's picnic in their childhood differs in each route. In Conquest it is Veggie Chowder, while in Birthright it is Surf and Turf, and in Revelation it is Tangy Coleslaw.

LMFAO these fuckers can't even AU properly. eat my ass IS, fuck your games. Pirating that shit from now on.

>look I love FE and all but they really need to get their shit together with map design and story.
Kaga is showing them up with Vestaria Saga, maybe Nintendo can beg him to come back.

That's fucking gay, why do so many games try to pull AUs but suck so much ass at it? Is there any game other than the Zero Escape series that actually does it well?

>What went right?
Getting to marry and tittyfuck your stepsister is what.

Same. That shit got me so pumped. I cannot tell you how many times I watched that and it fucking pains me rewatching it because I know how awful it is.

Kaga can eat my ass.

you can't tittyfuck anything in this game. only rub face (JP only, too creepy for the west XD)

WHERE WAS MY JP VOICES
I DIDNT BUY THIS SHIT BECAUSE OF THAT

THEY DID IT WITH AWAKENING, DONT TELL ME THEY SUDDENLY CANT DO IT FOR THIS SHIT

>Kaga can eat my ass.
What's your fucking problem

>(JP only, too creepy for the west XD)
Oh you're a neo-FE weeb ok kys

The fact that they don't have them when they had no issue providing it before is likely due to someone in Japan being unreasonable, as they are legally entitled.

Are you sure you don't mean nu, underage? Fuck off and die. the JP VAs are too expensive. you can just undub it though.

I played Conquest for about 2 weeks after it came out, got to chapter 14 and just couldn't anymore. Not because I was having a hard time, I just lost all interest. Should I pick it up again?

IM NOT SURPRISED, SOME VA ASK FOR FORTUNE

AND HOW DO I DO THAT

I think Conquest had amazing gameplay, but I am not a veteran of the series. That said, maybe it has been better at other points in the series. I can only compare to Awakening.(I only dabbled in the other games as a kid, so sue me.

Otherwise, the production values are good, and I like the OST. Plot is laughably atrocious, which is honestly better than Awakening's story which bored me to tears

Elise

Maybe. There are some fun chapters ahead but if it's the story that's killing your interest Chapter 15 is the point where it goes beyond retarded.

so if i'm getting one I should get...?

I had this same problem. I was considering doing a play through where I just skip all of the story and make up one of my own

Correct.

Conquest. Story is shit but Birthright is nothing to write home about either and has infinitely worse map and gameplay.

Conquest. The story is objectively one of the worst things I have ever laid eyes on, but the gameplay is at least worth a shot, even if it's not as good as everyone claims it is.

Conquest is superior to Birthright. Why? One has objectives and enemy placement, the other is literally ROUT THE ENEMY USING AUTO BATTLE: THE GAME. Birthright is fucking trash.

I beat that shit on Lunatic and never broke a sweat. Don't waste your money.

Here's the final boss:
youtube.com/watch?v=3Y59TXlm0K4

Little sister

By comparison: youtube.com/watch?v=lKrcd8Z5jSY is Conquest' final boss.

Do you get the difference?

Shut the fuck up with your moeshit, retard. Kill yourself.

Not Revelations, that's for fucking sure.
>snow shuffling the map
>shamelessly recycled maps that were used much better in Conquest or Birthright
>maps that are literally choke points the experience
>massive wide open maps where fliers clearly have the most advantage because the map has fucking massive open gaps
>shitty "wait for your ride so I can waste more of your time" maps
>any map that combines the above

And Awakening was my first FE game.. Conquest is my favourite FE game by the way.

Conquest > Birthright > Awakening > shit > Revelations

Please tell me you've at least tried some of the GBA to Wii era games since.

Conquest has cool maps and better characters, for the most part. The Nohr royal family actually feels like a family

wrong as fuck.

>shuffling
it's shoveling.

>much better in...Birthright
Birthright fucks up literally every map it ever has. I can't remember a single map in BT because they're all fucking ROUT THE ENEMY LOL. no good use of map design.

>choke points the experience
git gud

>massive wide open maps
This is only a problem if you treat it like a problem. having a flier end a map early can be good if your trying to breeze through.

>wait for your ride
stop crying, the battle against sumeragi was badass. git gud and learn how to block the door that moves the mini room.

>CQ > BT > Awakening > shit > Rev
that's wrong, pussy.

CQ > Awakening (with Future Past) = Heirs of Fate >>>> Rev > shit > BT

And also has the shittiest unit balance of any game in the series. Except maybe the first three, but I know little about them.

Wrong

Very little

The first fire emblem I literally cannot care enough about to finish, it's so boring.

RD has shit unit availability and balance, but Revelations is that much worse.

So you're tryna tell me if this nigga was available every chapter of the game it would've been fine? Fuck no, half these characters were unusable.

It broke boundaries for how many people can get assmad as well as sales records

And 70% of Revelation's cast is flat out unusable due to both join time and bases.

I disagree, I think RD's shit availability (similarly to join time) contributes too much to the overall unit imbalance. But at this point it's just a dick-measuring contest. They were both garbo in that regard.

I'll get to it if I ever get of my ass. My friend already is trying to push into it and he's the whole reason why I got into FE in the first place. Was planning to pick up some of the SNES games because I;m a nostalgiafaggot for the SNES.

>choke points the experience
>git gud
>learn how to block the door that moves the mini room.

So I need to git gud because I shouldn't abuse choke points in order to clear the map but I should use choke points to block the incoming enemies so I can clear the map?

Which one is it, faggot.

>the battle against sumeragi was badass
Yeah, just as badass waiting for your elevator ride.

hey

Effie. Bitch is a fucking monster. Saved my ass countless times.

THIS CITY'S SLEEPING LIKE A SOLDIER TRAPPED INSIDE OF AN IRON LUNG

Why is Didi just staring at a pot?

>no eugenics simulator

You can fuck off mate. You are not going to take my super soldiers from me which i carefully and precisely bred.

I know Awakening made you think otherwise but FE isn't Disgaea

I genuinely believe the saizo and beruka support was just forgotten to put in

He doesn't need too, Conquests makes those games obsolete

weak bait

>So you're tryna tell me if this nigga was available every chapter of the game it would've been fine?

Yes, considering every character in RD is capable of maxing their core stats and then some without BEXP abuse.

I don't know which games you played but Fire Emblem is clearly just that now. Might as well get used to it or find another game to play.

The supports are way better than previous games. Just cause you can support nearly everyone with each other doesn't make them any less compelling. It means you are autistic if you can't handle it.

I know this is bait but it is kind of true that people view the older games with tinted lenses. Not saying some of them didn't have stronger writing but they certainly weren't all paragons of depth.

You wish, you see it in every game people using boss abuse or Arena abuse to level up characters like Est, Nino, etc. Hell with how easy it is FE7-FE10 are level up simulators since 80% of the chapters are far too easy.

>Thorn in You
That song got me in a couple missions. Betraying cute girls must be my achilles heel.

Camilla's titties.
Fuckable main character.
Cute little sister.
Femui's feet.

By that logic every RPG is which is retarded, you can min/max in everything but it is not necessary in any way in most FEs nor does it have maps and mechanics designed around it like Fates/Awakening

If anything limited levels and XP is critical to old FE game design

>Not make it an eugenics simulator and downsize the number of possible pairs.

Lol go back to Wyvern Knights supporting Generals? Not likely.

I don't particularly care for the writing but the being able to support a large pool of characters helps the gameplay and lets players choose pairings strategically. While also allowing other players choose based on what characters they'd like to pair together.

The only reason people like you say "Eugenics" simulator is that you want a system that the fewest people would actually like(People who enjoy FE's gameplay first like myself prefer the new system).

So you have to make the new better one seem worse when it really isn't.

Problem is that only a few eugenics pairings are usually ever that good, not counting the three or so characters that just happen to be the best at everything. Most people want some balance of writing and gameplay, and having everyone support everyone really makes the writing suffer.

>If anything limited levels and XP is critical to old FE game design

You'd like to think that but a substantial number of the fanbase even before Awakening released believed the opposite. So many people think characters like Wendy are good because they boss/arena abuse them. So many people will tell you if the option to level up or break the game is avaiable then there's no reason not to use it.

>By that logic every RPG is which is retarded

This logic does apply to every RPG because it's a fundamental flaw of the EXP/Level mechanics. But at the same time its also a giant draw for many players to have their weak characters turn into OP monsters.

Why do you think no RPGs or SRPGs remove their level up mechanics even though it would be significantly balanced if they did? It'd kill the sales.

>Problem is that only a few eugenics pairings are usually ever that good

That's still more than the old games there . In Fates and Awakening I got more supports unlocked in the 1st playthrough than I had across 8 or so playthroughs of Fire Emblem Blazing Sword and about 3 of Sacred Stones where the mechanic is worthless.

"Well the writing will be better" doesn't convince. Because the writing was never compelling enough to grab me in the first place and because it's at expense of the gameplay utility of the mechanic.

"Most" people want to be able to pair together their favourite units who aren't necessarily closely linked writing-wise. Most people don't want the gameplay to be controlled by the writing.

Did anyone else actually prefer awakening for some reason? The story and world felt comfier somehow

I somewhat agree actually, and would say for that same reason; Awakening felt comfier. If Awakening had Fates' animations, I'd probably prefer Awakening entirely.

Also, the Future Past trilogy is probably the best content from both games. If Awakening had gone with something like that as its second arc, it would have been way better.

No you're right. At the very least Corrin should have been removed.

Make Xander the protagonist of Conquest

Make Ryoma the protagonist of Birthright

Make Azura the protagonist of Revelations

But I hated Revelations so remove everything associated with Azura, Valla and Anankos as well.

Awakening has somewhat more enjoyable characterization, a less ridiculous plot and in some ways better balance, so it's not surprising that you might find it more enjoyable even if you view Fates as better in gameplay terms. Fates does get credit for trying to do something different with their ancient weapon mechanics, but it's not quite ready for prime time.

Anankos and all that the backstory around him is probably the worst part of any Fire Emblem plot.

Yet another out-of-nowhere dragon/deity that hijacks the plot, but one with a backstory that also comes out of nowhere, and is mostly locked behind DLC. Its just complete nonsense.

The issue with the GBA games weren't the supports themselves, but rather unlocking them. The system for getting supports was fucking retarded. But while you may disagree a big poin that draws people to the series are the characters, so when their interactions suffer they also suffer. That's also why I disagree with your idea that people just want to pair their favorite units. No one would pair Ryoma and Camilla if it weren't for their OP genes, for example.

Eh, the world is better because it actually has some degree of world-building, and the story is a little less retarded but still plenty retarded. I think that otherwise I prefer Fates though.

My biggest annoyance with Fates' plot is how terrible both Conquest and Birthright end.

>Corrin constantly attacked by Vallites in all 3 versions
>Garon goes back to himself when dying in Birthright
>"Wh-What was that?"
>"(lol who cares?"
>Corrin wondering what on earth could have made Takumi what he was at the end of Conquest
>"Wait where did Azura go?
>"(lol who cares?"

Corrin even goes to Valla in Conquest and the best Azura gives is "I'm not explaining this we have to go back now."

Might as well just say "Sorry you didn't fork out the extra $20 this part of the game is not available to you"

I think IS's scummy DLC practices is more the problem than the concept

It'd be like making people pay for Nergal's backstory or something

I REFUSE TO BUY THE NEXT FE IF THERE IS NO DUAL AUDIO

Meg isn't even the worse character in her game, that's Fiona

>Azura the protagonist
That just sounds fucking awful

Better idea. Remove Corrin AND Azura. Azura is actually responsible for most of the stupid decisions Corrin makes.

But then how will I know who's the ocean's grey waves?

Gameplay was fun but holy shit I'm never playing Conquest again. I've never played a game with such a shitty story. Haven't even played the third route yet because how awful of an experience that was.

>Haven't even played the third route yet
Consider yourself lucky.

Revelation's plot is even worse

How wasanybody meant to know that Hans and Iago would betray you (again)?
