Are these guys the most well-known and iconic "indie" video game characters?

Beck is well known, but not in a good way.

Of all of these, only Freddy and Shovel Knight are truly "iconic." The rest are niche as fuck when you step outside of the Cred Forums echo chamber.

Literally no one I know has ever played Cave Story. Stop assuming the shit you and your friends play speaks for the populace.

The reverse is also true, just because you know them, doesn't mean they're iconic. If I, who spends a lot of time on Cred Forums, don't know them, they're not iconic. Shovel Knight has been in only one game too, but he has been shoved down our throats.
Regardless of what you think, there are characters who are definitely more iconic than these 3, like Meat Boy or Isaac
