Buy 16gb ram instead of that small single ssd. Buy w10 if you are using windows anyway. Possibly nvidia instead of ati, well for games.
Christopher Price
Get 16Gb of ram. Some games need it already.
Asher Brooks
You have an unlocked motherboard and a locked CPU.You only need a z170 board if you plan on overclocking.
Andrew Young
Don't listen to this man >nvidia always online bullshit drivers
Brandon Bailey
Forgot to mention look up H170 instead of Z170. The only reason to get Z170 would be for SLI/Crossfire, but I generally wouldn't recommend two cards unless you have the top-tier card already.
Jace Lewis
Non k cpu z170 pointless. Either get k version or a h170 or whatever. Powesupply is complete overkill. Why buy windows 7 just pirate it.
Lucas Reyes
Thanks guys. I was thinking of getting W10 anyway since the price difference isn't much. I'll pick out different ram too.
Thanks for the heads up. I've been looking at builds on logicalincrements and pcpartpicker but it's always better to ask actual people.
Aaron Howard
>he uses the launcher to install drivers instead of directly downloading them from their website
Jaxon Gonzalez
Thanks. Let me shuffle some things around
Colton Thompson
>Spending $80 on a OS
user just fucking pirate windows but everything looks good i would get 2x4gb ram for dual channel also don't listen to videocard shills the 480 is good enough.
Angel Nelson
How's this build? I've been constantly revising it, but from what I gather, the case and mobo are solid, so I'll probably get those first.
No hdd, mouse, keyboard, or monitor because I have those already.
Nicholas Baker
>480 NITRO Get a MSI gaming x
>Paying for windows
Kill yourself. Use that money for a 8GB RX 480
Camden Nelson
If you live near a microcenter consider buying the cpu and motherboard from them as a combo, gives 30 dollars off the motherboard and their cpus are the cheapest you can get, $200 at microcenter will get you the 6600k instead of that 6500.
Lincoln Gray
Nice. Yea i'll probably pirate it. I just wanted it on the list. Here's the revised list. Is a 500W power supply enough or should I go for a 520, 550 or 600? The system draws 401W so I figure 500 is good. I'll look into getting a 8GB 480 as well
I haven't checked but I'll look into that
Thomas Murphy
You don't need a Z170 Mobo for a non overclockable CPU. Grab Win7 for 20 bucks from Kinguin or similar websites. Besides that, I like the i5 6500/RX480 combo. The GPU is still the bottleneck in the fast majority of games, but there's no significant power difference.
Your i3 will be a bottleneck, get an i5 instead. Same one as the OP will do.
Levi Harris
>Using a non-k processor with an overclockable mobo. >Sandmeme SSD. >Expensive case for no reason. >Buying an OS. Yes, you are retarded.
Andrew Green
Why get the 4GB 480? Why not 8?
Is there something im missing out on?
Luke Cruz
Fellow idiot here, been toying with a target PC to go for to motivate myself to get up in the morning and go to work, but I'm fairly clueless as to what to get and what goes well with what.
What should I improve? Was aiming for under the £1000 mark
Not sure on the case, for one. Completely clueless when it comes to cases.
Adam Hernandez
I've changed the mobo and PS now and I changed to a 8GB 480. What's a good case? I wanted to get one with nice airflow and maybe dust filters but there's a lot to choose from.
Josiah Scott
My pc built thread was deleteted but this cunt... stupid british cunts
Nolan Gonzalez
Nope, just retarded. I updated my list to a 8GB but I haven't taken a screenshot yet
Anthony Gonzalez
>ASUS E motherboard Get a A or PRO version.
Get a EVGA 750 G2 PSU and push the Sandisk Ultra to a 850 EVO.
Carson Reed
There's an easy way to get win 7 free straight from M$. Just do some googling. You bothered with reserching pc parts why not bother saving some cash? Though you will need Windows loader.
Connor Myers
you forgot 1 stick of RAM
Joshua Gray
Sandisk is not bad, is just that 850 EVO is that good.
>Draws 400W out a 480W PSU Always get a PSU with 30% overhead of what your current PC uses, stressing a PSU is never a good idea.
Rule No.1 of building a PC, never cheap out in the PSU.
Caleb Young
Don't get a haswell CPU m8. There's barely a goddamn price difference and it just isn't worth it.
Matthew Butler
All cases basically have the same kind of airflow nowadays, and dust isn't an issue if you have positive air pressure into the case, I have neutral in mine, and I have no dust at all.
Levi Carter
Americunt here, sorry.
Ok here's my updated list again. Just assume I won't buy W10. What else should I change? I'm still curious about the PS, case, and SSD.
Colton Long
get a 1200W PSU the rx480 draws a lot DUUUUUDE
Christopher Green
Get 64GB of RAM you idiot.
Nolan Carter
>buying Windows 10
Just download the .iso from the official Microsoft site and then activate it using KMS (be careful, there are few places to find a legit copy)
John Peterson
>Building a PC You didn't have to tell us you were an idiot user.
Adrian Jackson
Get 650W PSU
Either go Samsung for SSD or not at all. If you're so concerned with money. You dont even need the SSD at all. Its a luxury. You could just get it a few months down the line
Eli Sanchez
Why don't you move to the pc building general over at Cred Forums as opposed to opening new threads on Cred Forums?
Jace Miller
Get a EVGA 650 G1 or GS. Why not a Corsair 200R for something cheaper? Get a 850 EVO SSD, yours is good, but the 850 evo is better. Your motherboard cant SLI efficiently but is not like it matters (PCIe slots work at x16 and x4 instead x8 and x8).
Noah Morales
>MSI over Sapphire Holy shit you kill yourself Sapphire is the only brand that makes AMD right
Caleb Jackson
In yuropoorland the service is so-so. MSI and EVGA (Nvidia) are superior.
Wyatt White
Also one huge problem of that motherboard is the KILLER NIC ethernet. Avoid that motherboard for that alone, get a GA-Z170XP-SLI.
Jaxon Rodriguez
16GB RAM Pirate W7 get a GTX 1060 or an R9 Fury instead of the R10 480
>In yuropoorland the service is so-so. What the fuck are you talking about? I live in Denmark, one of the countries that pays the most in tax and VAT in the world and MSI is overpriced shit overhere.
Not only that but Sapphire makes the best coolers for eatch card and not just the same shit MSI alwasy slaps on
Levi Peterson
Dude get a better PSU 600 at least and make it gold. Don't cheap out on the thing that is literally powering you rig man
Austin Brown
Okay, I just had a closer look at your list. It's shit, scrap everything and start again. 960 is overpriced and outclassed vs RX480/GTX1060 unless you can get it for cheap, you went with a haswell mobo/CPU even though it's last gen and there's no fucking purpose to picking an older architecture, silver/bronze certified PSUs are perfectly fine if you go with a lower budget/watt build.. The rest is okayish, I guess.
Brody Butler
I might toss the SSD for now, yea. I'll continue to look at power supplies. Thanks for the advice Even though I only plan on having one card and I won't overclock? People argue more over here. I think it's easier to learn about things when people argue
Zachary Turner
the msi card is cooler and quiter than the sapphire
it's a rare case but it's pretty good
Jordan Morgan
I'm talking about returning a broken/non functioning GPU within warranty.
Owen Jenkins
Yes, the Killer NIC does honor to its name and literally makes your ethernet port stop working. So you cant have internet unless you buy a PCIe to Ethernet adapter.
Just google E2200 problems.
Kayden Adams
my 290 tri-x rattles, sounds like a fucking airplane and is always at 80-95 degrees
also the heat has worn off the paint on the front plate
My case has 6 fans and a cpu cooler
Levi Evans
How's the case in that build? Also, I would think I'd drop down to an i5 instead. Any reason to go for an i7? I only plan on doing 1080p and single card gaming really Thanks for the heads up. I know the PS is important but I'm not sure what's exactly underpowered and whats overkill. I'll check out a 600W one
Levi Sullivan
Some motherboard options are: GA-Z170XP-SLI ($110+-) ASUS Z170-P($100) MSI B150M Mortar ($85)
Jordan Perry
>Any reason to go for an i7? I only plan on doing 1080p and single card gaming really No, no reason whatsoever.
Brayden Taylor
Alright, thanks. That's something I'll definitely change around then
Gabriel Wright
First off please dont pay for windows 7 since it will be out the door in 3 years. Secondly take that money and get a 1060 6 GB Third, I would just get a 500GB SSD and get a 1-2 TB HDD later if you really need to save all that porno. And Finally get some sort of aftermarket cpu cooler, even if its a 20 dollar one, stock intel sinks are shit.
Noah Taylor
Awesome, thanks. I only plan to do single card still so I'll check out the Z170-P and the B150M
That's what I figured. Thanks
Landon Jones
There is no reason to get a I7 for gaming since you barely will see benefit from it.
Gabriel Green
I really think buying a PC to play vidya is not worth it. I went to that Cred Forums thread and they even said that PC parts barely hold out for 3 years and then you have to replace them. And the CPU and GPU alone are already way more expensive than the newest consoles and all you get is a slight edge in terms of performance, while still having to deal with crappy optimisation because games are made with consoles in mind.
If you don't give a shit about money and are able to put a shitload of effort into it, it's objectively better than consoles but if you don't, it's not a good idea.
Colton Nelson
Used a AMD FX-6350 and a 7580 for 4 years before upgrading to i5K and a R9 390 this year and i have never had any problems.
the only thing might be the sound as you said on the tri-serise but mine works like a charm alwasy keeping mine under 50C
Eli Brown
massive rips high quality rips
>Third, I would just get a 500GB SSD and get a 1-2 TB HDD later if you really need to save all that porno.
He can just cloudfare the porn.
Justin Wilson
Newer AMD cards run so fucking hot, my old 7950 (rebranded as the 280) runs at 65°C as the absolute max and by now it must be pretty dusty (haven't cleaned it for a while.)
I don't know when we started accepting upwards of 80°C as normal operating standards, the thing throttles at 95°C for Christ's sake.
Camden Watson
>7580 I meant 7785
Tyler Adams
The only part you have to replace every 3 years is the GPU, that is if you want because you bought a mid end one and not a high end GPU.
You can use the same CPU for years, way more if you can overclock it. People still use their I5-2500K from 2011 with no problems.
Cooper Garcia
Please recommend me a good monitor for $500-$600 CAD.
1440 and IPS are a plus, I won't hold my breath for 144hz.
Christopher Rogers
Not videogames user, as in Cred Forumssqt or Cred Forumsbuild
Your 4430. Get a Skylake (6xxx) series CPU instead, with a LGA 1151 mobo chipset (also for Skylake)
Isaac Butler
Despite making the best AMD cards performance wise Sapphire's customer service and warranty are pretty shit.
Henry Sanchez
I've been playing on consoles forever. Also, my computer is already 10 years old. I want to play more games and have a better computer. Win-win
Here's an updated list again. I'm pretty satisfied with it. Last thing I might change is GPU, case, and toss the SSD for now. Anyone with a 480 run into issue like overheating?
Landon Lewis
That sounds more reasonable. It's probably difficult to answer but how long would a GPU be good enough to keep playing the newest games with at least decent settings?
Parker Cooper
How bad is cheaping out in a motherboard?
Im planning to get a MSI Z97 PC Mate because budget problems.
Should i save and get a ASUS Z97-A USB 3.1 or cheap out and get a GA-B85M-D3H?
CPU is I5-4460.
Robert Cox
Honestly? I'm the guy with the 7950 and I can still play most games at medium settings. It's 4 years old now. I will replace it with a RX580(fingers crossed)/1070 soonish though as it's definitely needing a replacement by now.
Lincoln Stewart
>not waiting for zen/kaby lake which are 3 months away from release
???
Ayden Lee
Recent mid end GPUs can play games at high-highest settings at 60FPS at 1080FPS with no problems and will for some time.
High end GPUs are for people who want to play at 144Hz or higher resolutions.
Kayden Cox
Redpill me on AMD processors 4.7GHz seems like an awful lot compared for the price it has
What's the catch?
Landon Reyes
My brother has been using a GTX 660 since 2012. He's able to play all of the games he likes that GTA and Fallout with no issues. If you want a card thats going to match high-end games coming out now, you're gonna want to get a good GPU. Also, just getting a good GPU now is an investment that'll carry you for years
Christian Diaz
>core i5
You're doing on purpose aren't you?
Thomas Lee
>How bad is cheaping out in a motherboard? Second thing I wouldn't cheap out on next to a PSU
the mobo is something you don't skimp on, don't buy some cheap ass 60 dollar mobo, get a nice one
Has everything you're looking for but it's a third party manufacturer. The only bad thing I see is the stand (replaceable) and it has that weird glow. Personally i'd save up for a better one with everything
Owen Green
Which GPU is a mid end one? The Nvidia page has those up to 140€ as decent gaming GPUs, is that really enough to get a decent GPU? I was expecting more around 300-500€
Adam Campbell
meant to reply to
Leo Rivera
RX 480/GTX 1060 are this gen mid end GPUs.
GTX 950 is a low end GPU, replaced the old low end power saving GTX 750Ti.
And that's an FX8300 (8 cores), it can barely match an i3 6100 (2 cores, 2 hyperthreaded) in fucking vidya.
Logan Carter
SOME
Dylan Watson
Also GT arent gaming cards, are literally just werk GPUs to output video in computers with no IGPU like office machines.
Luke Gutierrez
Ah okay.
I've swapped to an Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor and Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H DDR3 Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard, but now I'm getting a compatibility issue that the RAM runs at too high a voltage (Operating voltage of 1.5V, whereas recommended maximum is 1.417V for skylake)
Nothing to be worried about though, right?
Charles Edwards
I'm using a Sapphire 480 8GB with a 6600k and I've only got a 450W PSU. I haven't had an issue. 480 doesn't draw a lot of power.
Joshua Turner
I see. The price for the GTX 1060 seems decent actually.
Austin Young
>I've swapped to an Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor and Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H DDR3 Micro ATX LGA1151 NOOOO! What the fuck? Why would you move from a 4430 to a 6700k. Those are not even comparable. Your i5 4430 haswell would be equivalent to a i5 6400 skylake, but I'd recommend a i5 6500 as the performance difference is significant for only 10-20 bucks more.
Also, the mobo doesn't allow for overclocks while the 6700k is an overclocking beast, but that shouldn't matter with the i5 non K.
Andrew Wright
user, get a I5-6500, you dont need a I7 for multiple reasons.
Your Motherboard is locked, and your CPU is unlocked, you need a Z170 motherboard and a really good HSF. I7 is useless for gaming, literally I5 performance, they are for video editing and other heavy stuff, games rarely max a I5 CPU.
And the memory issue is because Skylake uses DDR4 ram which works at 1.3v, and DDR3 runs at 1.5v. You need DDR4 RAM.
Jackson Wright
Heads up just get a clean iso of windows from here
You could spend less on case but looks really good.
Landon Nelson
I can always hold out for another month and accrue more cash for it. What range do you think I'd have to set my sights on? Around 1,000 or higher?
Alexander Martinez
cool. thanks for the info
Jayden Foster
Any better? Swapping RAM to DDR4 threw a compatibility issue with the motherboard, so had to swap
Mason Foster
Not OP but thanks for the tool, I've been dealing with that stupid "Activate Windows" watermark in the bottom corner for like two weeks because I didn't even know where to look to find a legitimate tool that didn't make me nervous that I was installing a virus or some shit.
Grayson Baker
Awesome. Thanks dude
Henry Sanchez
Get a 850 EVO instead 840, they are different SSDs.
Get a 2TB WD Black or Blue instead seagate. 600-650W PSU. Since you are from europe im probably EVGA wont be a option so check rosewill.
Elijah Rodriguez
Get your os from ebay if youre scared to pirate it, its way cheaper iirc I was because I dont know how to pirate and im scared to
Isaac Thomas
You don't need a Z170 mobo for a non overclockable (non K) CPU. Get a decent B150 mobo for a lot less.
Z170 is for i5 6600k or i7 6700k.
Benjamin Brown
Not him but if you are using W7 you are better using Daz Loader.
Z170 is nice to have but you could buy a B150 motherboard, you will lose some stuff but you save money. If you dont mind saving money and get something good keep the Z170.
Christopher Stewart
I'm not OP, but how do I go about properly OCing my CPU? I've over clocked my GPU a million times, but I have no idea how to do a CPU. I know you need to adjust it in the BIOS, and I've found the values, i just don't know the process and how to go about checking stability.
Nah I'm on 10 because the idea of Microsoft having to look through all my weird porn and search history makes me laugh
Brayden Richardson
CPU overclocking is kinda hard, just dont fuck with voltage a lot. ask in Cred Forumssqt.
In order to overclock a intel CPU you need a "k" CPU and a Z170 motherboard (Z97, X99 for other sockets).
Andrew Martin
>buying windows
David Torres
The B150 is great if you don't plan to overclock, the H110 is the cheapskate motherboard, not the B150. In my opinion the Z170 is simply not an option if you go with something like the i5 6500, it has a lot of bells and whistles that you can't really use as you wont be overclocking anyway. Wasted money.
Ryan White
>Not OP but thanks for the tool, I've been dealing with that stupid "Activate Windows" watermark in the bottom corner for like two weeks because I didn't even know where to look to find a legitimate tool that didn't make me nervous that I was installing a virus or some shit.
Yea if you type in mstoolkit in google the first few sites are literally likely spiked with malware.
For future reference the mydigitallife forum all has legit stuff. That tool can also activate office which is what I'm using it for.
Julian Carter
Awesome. I should probably get a cpu cooler and change my case to the 200R like another user said. Whats the direct benefit of a i5-6600k to a i5-6500?
Daniel Turner
Not you/him but.
Myidigtallife also was the place where they were developed.
Samuel Robinson
Well I've got a 6600k, but my Mobo is a gigabyte H110M-A since it was the only micro ATX one that I could find that wasn't sold out on Canadian Newegg when I ordered it. Am I fucked? I definitely found values in my BIOS for over clocking the CPU.
Christian Peterson
Thanks user, I'll have to bookmark this site.
Austin Evans
Also whats the benefit of the Z-170E compared to the B150M Mortar I have picked out?
Nicholas Perry
Highly fucked, since if you even managed to overclock a bit the VRM and MOSFET would blow up and turn on fire. Literally.
Camden Long
>reference RX 480 Aftermarket ones are faster, cooler, and quieter. Get MSI or Sapphire.
That's a pretty poor price for an 850 Evo. Mine was like $70 a year ago.
>Define R4 The R5 exists you know. It's much better.
>Z170 mobo and H212 Evo with a 6500 Either get H170 and no CPU cooler, or spend the extra for a 6600K
>Nvidia Don't. Nvidia is awful. Their drivers are trash, especially for legacy cards, which yours will be the moment the 1160 comes out. Buying an Nvidia GPU was the worst hardware purchase I ever made. You couldn't pay me to go back.
It's shit. Can't keep up with six core first gen i7s clocked 1GHz lower.
Leo Stewart
the H110 shouldn't allow raising of the voltage and only limited raising of the multiplier.
Yes, you're kinda fucked. Should've gone with a cheap Z170 Mobo instead, the 6600k is a beast that is wasted on your H110.
The H110 is a budget mobo, the B150 is mid, the Z170/H170 high end.
Hunter Brown
>Awesome. I should probably get a cpu cooler and change my case to the 200R like another user said. Whats the direct benefit of a i5-6600k to a i5-6500?
Overclocking. The i5 6500 isn't bad but since you have the cash, getting an i5 6600k can easily allow you to overclock it to 4.4ghz vs the 3.2 ghz on the i5 6500. It's just useful for games that might be cpu bound like say arma 3.
In order to overclock you need a Z170 motherboard. That's pretty much the difference. Z170 mobos allows overclocking but only intel cpu with the "k" suffix can overclock.
Jacob Gomez
>That's a pretty poor price for an 850 Evo. Mine was like $70 a year ago. For whatever reason 850 EVO got a price spike recently.
I got mine for $68 in mexico now its $99-115 in US.
Gavin Diaz
Welp. Are there MicroATX Z170s? I only spent like $60 on this Mobo, it wouldn't kill me to replace it.
Camden Sullivan
One of the cheapests ATX Z170 is $100, why not just save a bit?
Hudson Butler
Of course there are mATX Z170s. They manage to cram X99 into mATX.
Brayden Cook
what case would you rec?
Bentley Edwards
Real talk, are there any disadvantages to using a pirated copy of Windows 10?
Jason Wood
My case only fits MicroATX, I wanted a smaller computer this time around. Cool, I'll look around for a better mobo. Thanks guys.
Jeremiah Parker
Corsair 200, 300 or 500r.
Thomas Wood
>Don't. Nvidia is awful.
Then what should I get in its place?
Alexander Lopez
Ah okay I get it. If I've got it right: If i stay with my i5-6500, then my B150M mobo is preferable but if I go with a i5-6600K I should get the Z170?
Cooper Gonzalez
No. If you use the toolkit posted above to activate it's the same shit. Just make sure you install an official iso of windows from their website and not some shit you torrented off piratebay.
MS doesn't care about people doing that and don't bother blocking it. They only block enterprise versions of windows. Pretty sure they could easily block it if they wanted to but they prefer people using windows over linux.
Elijah Smith
Yea. Both cpus would work on both mobos but as the z170 mobo can allow overclocking, people only put the intel k cpus in them. Z170s cost more so people get other mobos for the intel cpus that can't overclock. But really your budget is in the ocing realm so there's no reason why you shouldn't go with that.
Carter Scott
It's win10.
Jace Nelson
Very cool. Thanks for being so helpful. I wasn't intent on overclocking since I'm not sure how to do it really, but it's something I'd be interested to learn later on for sure. An extra 50 bucks or whatever is worth that imo.
Carson Sullivan
Its not, its a meme shitposters use to start AMD vs NVIDIA wars.
Both are good. AMD was really bad last season, they came back into the game in the mid end market.
Parker Davis
>Cred Forums says i3 is fine >Cred Forums says it's shit, get an i5
WHICH ONE DAMMIT
Caleb Brooks
I3 as in the software you idiot, not intel I3.
Adam Lee
RX 480. The Sapphire Nitro+ OC has the highest out of the box overclock, the MSI Gaming X is one of the cooler and quieter ones. PowerColor Red Devil and Asus Strix are good too, although the Asus tends to be overpriced. Alternatively, there have been a lot of sales recently on Sapphire R9 Fury Nitros. I don't know if there have been any in Bongistan, but it beats the both 480 and 1060 by a decent margin and is even on par with the 1070 in D44M.
Xavier Wood
It could extent the lifespan of your CPU. Most CPUs last about 7-10 years and when overclocking you could make the most of those 7 years (it wont be 10 as overclocking reduces the lifespan of your CPU a little bit.)
As someone earlier in this thread pointed out, remember the i5 2500k. It's still in use today despite being 5-6 years old. You don't hear anything about the i5 2400 anymore, that's because those people have upgraded aeons ago.
>i just don't know the process and how to go about checking stability. start at a reasonable clockspeed increase and slowly raise the voltage until everything stops crashing
Evan Johnson
Unlocked i5's will run everything, overclocked 2500k still bottlenecks nothing after all these years i3 if you just want to play casul games for as cheap as possible
Dylan Kelly
Not a meme, my actual experience. I fucking hated my gimped piece of shit GTX 770 and I'm never giving Nvidia another cent. I've already had more performance improvement in the last two weeks of AMD drivers than the previous two years from Nvidia.
You should plan on overclocking, maybe not now but you will need some extra power in few years. i3 will be a massive bottleneck in some games and less bad in others.
Hudson Sullivan
Very cool. Thanks for the help user. I think I'll go for the i5-6600k and Z170-E setup.
Brody Lee
Okay, how's the following?
Ian Richardson
i5 6500's come with a stock cpu coolers
Only the intel cpus with the "k" suffix don't come with cpu coolers
Ryder Martin
You really want unlocked cpu and motherboard if dont want to upgrade in a few years, 8gb of ram and 4gb of vram is a problem on new videogames, expensive cases are a scam and a decent 500w psu is more than enough, 550 if you want to be prepared for video cards that might use a lot more power.
Hunter Jenkins
What do you plan on cooling with that 212? You will never need an aftermarket cooler on a cpu that cannot be overclocked
Liam Torres
>What do you plan on cooling with that 212?
Your mums pussy after i'm done with her
Juan White
Do this instad
Add in the SSD and monitor if you really need it
Charles Powell
>You will never need an aftermarket cooler on a cpu that cannot be overclocked They are still hugely beneficial
>lower temps regardless >less noise >much better aesthetics $30 well spent imo
Joshua Gray
It's fine, but honestly I would save a little money and get an i3 6100. Later on you can upgrade to an i5 6600K or 7600K (Kaby Lake is also going to be on 1511) if you keep the Z170 mobo.
Also you might have trouble installing Win7 from usb on Skylake CPUs
Looks good, but you don't need an aftermarket cooler for the i3. Stock will be fine.
The H170 is for multigpu, so I'd get a slightly stronger PSU so that the upgrade option exists. Also you might want to buy a 300W single GPU some day.
Brandon Garcia
Wouldnt say hugely, there is no real difference when running on stock clock speeds and voltages
Charles Brown
You dumb fucking cuck.
You don't need 650w for that setup.
I run 600w with a meh tier supply. And I have a 4.9ghz 2500k and an overclocked 1070. S
Adam Bell
Yes there is. Both temps and noise
Jose Brown
What the fuck are you even smoking with that PSU.
His setup will barely draw 350w from the wall under load.
He needs a high quality 500W.
Josiah Lopez
>Only the intel cpus with the "k" suffix don't come with cpu coolers Is that new? I got a copper blower with my 3570k. I believe the the 6600k for example should get you an aluminum blower included nowadays, just like all the other Skylake processors.
Brody Murphy
Bad choice of CPU. Just get an i5 6500, or an i3 6100 if your monitor is 60Hz
Looks good, personally I would upgrade the SSD to 250GB, enough for a few AAA games. Also consider the i3 6100, a great CPU for the price if you want to save money.
Personally if I were buying the 1151 platform, I'd buy a Z170 and just use an i3 6100 or i5 6500 now and upgrade to a 6600K or i7 6700K later IF I wanted to keep the platform.

No there isn't

Nothing practical on a locked CPU
Yep, new.

get a gtx750ti or gtx960 if you realllly want to spend the money for a better card spring for a 970
Logan Sullivan
But realistically CPUs don't function without a heatsink. I can't believe Intel would be that stupid.
Gabriel Anderson
If you're buying an unlocked processor why the fuck would you use the stock cooler?
Michael Davis
The i3 still bottlenecks 480/1060 tier gpu, all that video does is it proves that witcher runs at 60fps on whatever those settings are.
William Reed
To OC once it's necessary. I ran on my copper blower for 3 years.
Dominic Taylor
This, only got a decent cooler for my 3570k when i got my 480 and decided to overclock cpu to match gpu
Dylan Morris
If you buy an unlocked processor and don't immediately overclock it you're wasting your fucking money
The whole "cpu degradation" meme is bullshit if you keep the voltage and temps in check. It will be time to upgrade well before the cpu breaks down from the overclock.
Overclocking is a waste of money if it's not necessary. Why OC if your CPU is not the bottleneck?
Lucas Parker
If you are buying an "enthusiast" grade unlocked processor, Intel passes the burned of cost associated with cooling to you, since the stock cooler would be insufficient anyway.
Austin Sanders
>Why OC if your CPU is not the bottleneck? Because it's free extra performance? Even the base clocks are usually higher than the locked processor variants Plus for a lot of people it's just fun
Jose Sullivan
>Why OC if your CPU is not the bottleneck? Because, idiot, you can still gain performance from overclocking a CPU even if it's not the bottleneck.

>free >pay extra for unlocked >pay extra for mobo

If im never using all the power in my cpu why do i need more? >If you buy an unlocked processor

It must really suck to be forced online to download your drivers
Ryder Campbell
only if you pay for power and/or overclock lazily
it's not 'free' but you spend like $30-40 more, at MOST in exchange for a feature that'll give you an extra year or two on top of what you already have
>If im never using all the power in my cpu why do i need more? I'll give you an example.
X processor at 4.1ghz = 100fps X processor at 4.7ghz = 118fps
Even without a bottleneck, speeding up the CPU can increase performance.
Lucas Long
>I don't like your results! >Post different ones! Flag on the field Jim. user asked for more proof when proof was already given
Why don't you post something? I've made my point
Kayden Thompson
>If im never using all the power in my cpu why do i need more? So why are you asking about an unlocked processor when you aren't going to overclock it or use all of it?
Asher Barnes
Depends on the game. Yeah if it's really CPU heavy you'll drop below 60FPS, but part of building a budget oriented rig is knowing when to turn down that one setting that has almost no effect on visual fidelity. In GTAV you might have to turn down shadows and possibly draw distance, but that's it.
That picture you posted is a perfect representation of yourself
Benjamin Lewis
Actually you see a stupendous difference in Hyperthread vs non-hyperthread in CPU bound games.
Juan Jackson
Best build so far, looks really good.
People say you wont need the 212 EVO but trust me, its good having it. Makes your build more silent.

Remove windows 7 from your buy list. You can literally torrent a cracked copy of ultimate/professional anywhere these days, copy it on a USB stick and then install it via USB stick in new PC. You can then use that 82 dollars to get a slightly better GPU, more ram, a 500gb SSD instead of a 240, etc.

Thanks user. I swapped the case for a NZXT S340 (Black/Blue) ATX Mid Tower Case because it was cheaper and more visually appealing
And thanks to everyone who's helped out, now I've got something to aim for at least.

Are there usually good price drops for components on Black friday/cyber monday?
