Leaving an anchor post for the artist is usually fine, although there are some cases where people just say they're doing it as a trick.

Depending on the thread, you might be better off reposting a request until you get a delivery, or a WIP to attach onto your ref.

It's not unheard of for a requester to go on radio silence for a while when things look moot but it doesn't mean they no longer care for the request or aren't checking the board or booru every now and then.
