It's both. It is a pretty decent platformer game. Only problem I have with it is that while the games can be hard, the enemies CAN seem a bit too few and far on the levels/stages/worlds/whateveryouwanttocallthem which can be a plus to some, but for me it just makes it feel a little too barren at times, almost eerily so.

They're pretty decent metroidvanias.

Pirate's Curse is definitely the best so far.

If I where to be brutally honest.

GBC game was pretty decent for the time. It was competent but honestly like most games on early handhelds it was nothing to really write home about.

Risky's Revenge was knee capped during development. It only had three dungeons, and only the third really got my platformer juices going. But then it just ends pretty abruptly. Transformations where fun some times and "water temple light* at others. The game holds up due to great sound and visuals along with some decent gags but ultimately felt underwhelming (which makes sense given it was going to be a DSI title and have multiple parts)

1/2 Genie is the best by a good margin but if anything it waits too damn long to play ball and the first half of the game is a breeze. Second half is better but I still felt it could of been a bit tougher. Also has a bit too much backtracking for my liking, new items need upgrades to do any decent damage which in itself is pointless because upgraded hair whip shits damage. Platforming was ok to good, puzzles and exploration make the game WAY more Zelda than metroid (especially dungeons). The story has the most meat in the series and the character interactions a great. The "L-lewd" aspects are blown WAY out of proportion. Just about every major instance of lewd has a decent counter of comic relief (desert princess and spring break especially). Its lewd if you think chesty sprites and a couple of chesty talking portraits are the bee's knees. Fags make it sound like Neptunia or senran kagura. Hell half this thread is now "I wanna wiff Shantae's farts" posts. Ignore them as they ultimately set you up for disappointment. The music is poss and the game looks good.

TL:DR
If your a avid platformer fan then you'd enjoy these. If your looking for a fun game to pass the time sure go ahead (probably wait for a sale because they WILL go on sale). If your looking for lewds just go to sad panda and save some time.
