So what monsters can join your team?

Not even 50 hours in and already finished Vale, what the fuck y'all doing to get 20 more hours by this point?

Huh? I only hit 70 hours by the time I beat what used to be Disc 1
And that was with a LOT of fucking about in the casino

In the Big Book of Beasts, what's the slime icon that appear beside the monster's listing? I'd assumed it meant that I had tamed them, but it's not next to ones I know I've tamed.

I just reunited with Keif and Maribel after fighting fire giant

I left my game on so Idk my play time, but about how far am I in to this monster?

it means you tamed them

you probably pressed no or something when recruiting them

Can someone explain how monster recruiting works? I could have sworn I've told multiple monsters about the haven one in particular I remember was a she-slime, but the only one I have in my village outside of the human disguised ones is a babygoyle I got from the automaton island.

I just got to the first part where I can fight monsters

any tips for making a good tablet in particular? I made one with pretty weak monsters and im surprised that it gets me experience towards jobs for Gabo and MC since they're lv28 and 30 respectively.

the monsters you recruit don't go to Haven but monster meadow. you can use those recruit monsters to go out and look for tablets which fall under "my tablets."

make tablets with monsters that drop hearts or seeds

So you can either get an option to recruit or to tell them about the village?

is there a way of knowing which ones for sure drop hearts?

check the book with all the monsters, it tells you if they drop a heart

no, they always go to the Monster Meadow. For the Haven, getting new monsters to go there is different. you either download them or find them one by one in various towns

no

Haven residents are formed from specific monsters and from tablets received from streetpass or online

Monster meadows is like a storage space where you just have a bunch of monsters hanging out. You use these monsters to create tablets.

when the fuck is this piece of wonderful shit come back in stock at amazon? I live in the middle fucking nowhere and I don't want to order online from fucking GameStop because they won't process my order for some reason.

How do I get them to go look for tablets?
Every time I've gone back to the meadows it tells me there's no monsters to send out despite me having sent several to the meadows already.

Oh wow, thanks for the tip. that's super helpful

you have to save meadows island in the past first

you have partial access to it early so you can streetpass and get the monster munchies

try k-mart or lesser known stores like gamer's ect, even places like target

Can you miss doing that or is it required to progress in the story?

you have to restore all the islands to progress the story, so no you can't miss it

Nope, checked with a monster that I just tamed and made sure they went to the meadows. No icon. Maybe i need to actually go to the meadows and do something for it to update?

you need to restore the meadow island first

The Spirit of Fire looks like he got lost on his way to Namek, for real

oh wait nevermind

I remember what it means, it means that you have that monster stamp

>Going with monster vocations for the first time.

i love this.

>playing 4
>chapter 6
Is this worth completing? It seems like it only leads up to an even more beefed up Psaro recolor.

Nope to both, unless you mean the enclosures. I already restored the island with the meadows, and I have stamps that don't have the icon and monsters with the icon I don't have stamps for

Speaking of monster munchies, can you just shove 'em in the bag, or do you need them in your inventory to be able to recruit?

they can be in your bag.

>finally clear the flip game in Buccaneer
>leather hat leather dress
FUCK
How do I efficiently get tokens?

The orchestra version of the battle music fucking sucks. In changing back to MIDI.

The japs cant play music.

I pretty sure it's means you tamed the monster and you have the stamp for it

I just beat the sunken cathedral how much longer until I unlock the 5th party member?

tell me I don't have to climb another tower ;_;

Map camera type 2 is a game changer

what does it do

H-Hayai!

Basically lifts the camera when you collide with something.

It's much better

>Make a team with a scarewell as a leader
>Get 450 exp from most battles
>The boss gives nearly 3k exp

oh my fuck

pro-tip: befriend a scarewell

I think I'm around 40 hours in and I got Melvin a while ago but how much longer till I get lady Kiefer?
Will I need to be switching my 4th party member out or will I be able to roll with 5 from that point on?

What the fuck job gives kabuff and kasap? i need my buffs and debuffs and priestly stuff ain't delivering.

Don't worry, the game continues to steal party members from you at every turn. I'm 70something hours in and I've still never had all 5 at once.

Monster Masher gives both
Some of the other advanced jobs give one or the other

Sage definitely gits ya one or da other but i unno wich

Monster Masher gets you kabuff as does Paladin

Pretty sure it was played by the London Philharmonic orchestra

Is there a benefit to mastering monster classes besides getting their skills?

I heard you get permanent stat boosts for mastered classes but that may have been for human classes only. If that's the case, how significant is the boost? Is it worth it to master every class?

Nope, I have the icon for a ton more monsters that I've tamed but don't have stamps for (barely done much of the tablets). Pretty sure there's a connection to taming though, but not every monster I've tamed has the icon

I know Monster Masher and Hero class have both of them.
Armamentalist and Paladin give Kabuff but I'm not sure about Kasap.

The boosts only apply while you stay as that class, I believe.

Platinum King gets something ridiculous like +255 defense once you master it

the only other thing I can think of is that it means the monster is in their habitat in monster meadows

>Is there a benefit to mastering monster classes besides getting their skills?

The hilarious spectacle of watching monsters beat up other monsters

Hot damn that's one hell of a Def boost.

So I'd have to keep the Platinum King class equipped to get the benefit then?

What's the best way to casino in this one? Poker seems fucking terrible compared to older games like 5

where do you find platkings

No clue, I've seen regular Gem Slimes when you return to the Volcano after the "Disc 1" part of the game but no Platinum slimes yet.

I think someone mentioned you also unlock it if you master 16 other monster classes on a character (yes mastering certain monster classes can potentially unlock other monster classes too, not sure what though since I've only gone through Jawtoise and am currently working on Prism Peacock on Ruff)

>Maribel's martial artist costume
o bby

How do I get the fragment from Maximo's palace?

Is it just a reward after a certain amount of mini medals?
I just beat the Hubble area and I'm all out of fragments. I have no idea where else to get any and fairy guy is saying he has no guidance to give me.

Maxim's is 85 medals I think, for post game. Go to info and click on next tablet. The easiest one to miss is going back to the past in the desert palace

Oh wow I didn't realized you could check it there.

And you were right, it was the Palace.

Thenks.

Just finished the timeloop town and I'm missing two fragments. I can't find the one "at the end of a hidden passageway in the Temple Palace" or in Bravoure.

go back into the past and talk to the queen in the sand place

>The japs cant play music.
Dumbest post on Cred Forums in months. Congrats.

>Keep switching between this and SMT4 Apocalypse
>Have barely made progress in either

I don't even have jobs yet.

I'm waiting for them to patch SMT4A first before continuing. Crashed when running from a battle.

>Recruited a gem slime
Kaching! Metal King equipment for all!

>waiting for a patch

atlus.com/smtiv-faux-pas-calypse/

good luck mate

If DQX got a Western release, would we finally be able to have a constant DQ general on /vg/?

play slots
the 1 and 10 token slots have a few special machines that have two rows of seven, use them until you got enough to use the 100 machines

>anyone beaten the post game yet
I'm here where I just met Lala and the roamers. How the fuck you guys so far.

assign a beast barn to a gem slime so you can get more of them and make a tablet with 3 gem slimes

Not really. Since the FFXIV fans would just spam it in anger.

I'm about 55 hours into the game and I got it before launch day. I have no idea how some people have played it 80+ hours yet. But they're more hardcore than me.

If this was 10 years ago, I probably would have powered through the game as well. I must be getting old. I can only play about 8 hours a day.

Should I assign one for plat. kings too? If I shared a 3 plat tablet would I be ranked a god among men?

I'm only at the first casino, st the bottom of the well. Does it have those special machines?

And another unrelated question, when do I get another fourth party member?

I think I'm about to go to the Demon King's castle. This was the end of disc 1 on the PS1, right? Is this the halfway point or is this well past half?

just check them all, you should be able to see whether they have 1 or 2 rows immediately

>save notegypt in the past
>my heroics and visage are recorded for future generations and I'm regarded as a savior in the present, getting the recognition I deserve

This can't be right.

All I got are two 5-line ones and one 3-line-diagonal one. This early casino might just be for chumps.

The early casino is best off trying to win at the pair matching game (I think the present version has a couple better pieces of equipment). You win everything you flipped if you clear the board and it can include some great gear.

the "2 rows of 7s" should be on of the machines with 3 rows and 5 columns

The far right machine in the past has two rows of 7s

Thanks padres.

I don't remember how much is left, it's been a year since I've played it, but you're past the halfway point, though you've still got a fair amount of game left, I believe.

How do i investigate the whole poison thing in herb city part 2, speaking both to the maid and the mistress doesn't advance the plot anymore.

It's all good user. Just wait till Grondal in the present.

>Immediately get 5 watermelons

Goddess praise these keks

Can I save the casino tokens from the abbey casino for the second casino later?

Yes.

I just grinded 3 of the basic vocations for Auster, Maribel and Ruff. Slimetree Forest is great for that. Got like 80 Slime Hearts doing it.

theres some weird trigger

try entering dills house then going to the big mayor house

I went to the east village and finished up that story, then when I came back the trigger happened when entering the mayor's house

Do you guys think we'll get dragon quest heroes 2 over here or do you think its worth importing?

I think I fucked up.

I did the music festival first before present day buccanham so crispin is in my party now. So the old guy who wanted to see the guiding light in the beacon cant join my party now. What do?

All musou games are localized, it'd be really wierd for heroes 2 to not be.

Good. Not normally into musuo games but heroes was surprisingly good.
Maybe it was the fact it was DQ I dunno but I loved the somewhat tower defence aspect of it.

They're probably waiting until Builders is out before they announce anything.

>went to Providence before realizing I could get Mervyn
>missed any dialogue he had there

When's the first time you can get him, when you get the jewel for the carpet? I'm currently at offensively spanish town past.

I hope we get it on PC and Builders too.

What would the chances be for Builders to get the DQ Heroes treatment?

Yeah, you gotta take the carpet to Bulgio's house. I forgot it was at the animal town and thought I had to advance the plot.

There's never any alchemy pot right? So there's no reason to hang on to unique stuff like the noble garb or shellmet right? Just convert it to funbucks?

No Alchemy in VII, I think.
Unless they added it to the 3DS version.

Are there tablets that lead to the bosses of previous games like they did with caves in IX? The monster book has a special second with an awful lot of slots.

>Happy Hat from final casino pairs game converts steps into MP

YES

Is the bottlenose buckler from the first casino worth the coins? I wasn't aware there were any water attacks at all. I do have the 5k coins, and it's an upgrade...

nah man, nah. None of the prizes there are really worth it, stash your tokens for the better casino.

Rgr that.

how the fuck does this monster recruiting update shit work exactly?
I sent out a time just a minute ago, only had 4 pages of monsters to choose from, with a lot of recent ones missing
two minutes later, after doing some beast barn assigning, I go back in to find another tablet and now I have 7 pages to choose from

It's the true/good ending to the story so I'd say it's worth it.

Do you have to go to somewhere specific for the rankings in modern El Ciclo? Gotta get in the fancy ranking to see what that shop has.

ewwww MARIBEL is GROSS

Do you keep the stuff you learn from monster heart?

Go to bed Ron.

I'm kinda upset I missed the opportunity to take a screenshot at the "Stiff as a Board" rank

Yes. In fact, it's the only way to permanently learn a lot of powerful skills, since you don't get to keep skills from advanced classes.

Beat Aamon. That shit was hardly worth it. Literally the same as Psaro, but with extra bullshit in the last form. And the ending scene was hardly changed outside of a shot of Psaro and Rose looking at your hot air balloon passing over.

The tone of the DQ games make it feel as if every Hero is just some poor guy who can't get a word out and inevitably ends up being tagged along in some world defying shit.

Merv looks awesome as a hero, why does nobody go for it? yes the "hero" is a hero but hes way more suited for champion.
Is it the "hero" who fought by the side of the almighty for Christ sake?!, Merv is more suited to the hero life.

But
Thou
Must

Come on man, you don't want Psaro to be happy?

>unfreeze mervyn
>not even a master of any jobs
>is actually an old gambler who sucks at it to boot
Starting to think the Almighty just picked him at random

I wish Melvin at least had a class or two mastered. Aira at least comes with Dancer maxed for obvious reasons

Melvin should at least have Warrior checked out

The slime icon dosent appear on tamed monsters until you tamed them and have there enclosure in monster meadows atleast for some of them, i tamed a metal king slime and it didnt have the slime icon until got the tower enclosure.

Fuck yeah

I mean it doesn't pay out as much a four 7's but whatever

"After Final Boss: Get the Broken Lithograph under the well in Gran Estard. Put it in the treasure box you can go through the lattice gate under the town and get it later. (After loading saved data)" were the fuck is this, in this localisation.

Accidental post linking.

I'm going to fight the Final Boss soon, but first I wanna do some job grinding. The tablets I created don't have level caps, right?

>doing Poker shit
>double or nothing! Pick a card and if it's higher than the one the dealer pulls, you double your winnings
>dealer draws ace
>draw 2
>lose

The ace is the highest card in the deck, user.

I got a question about party members

I just got maribel back after god sealed away several islands. Will anyone leave after this?

I want to grind jobs using the DLC tablets because fighting the fire spirit is tough as hell since I don't have insulate

Ace is either the highest or the lowest, sometimes both.

Typically in a game like that the Ace beats everything but 2 to make it fair.

bait or dumb?

i believe you lose melvin for a whlie

Yeah he's not in my party right now. Is it even possible to have all 5 members at once?I think theres not enough space for 5 character info boxes in the lower screen.

Will animal magnetism from all party members stack up to the 10 time use for 100% recruit or does it have to be one person

Give it to me straight doc, how bad are the accents?
The lack of the jap ost is already making me want to just play the ps1 version.

>Ace is either the highest or the lowest, sometimes both.
Not in poker, ace is always high unless used is a straight from A-5.

How dose klepoto clobber work? nothing ever drops.

>Pretty sure it was played by the London Philharmonic orchestra
Are they weebs or something? I swear every time a Japanese game has orchestral music, it's played by them.

they're pretty much localized to their own regions and not too terrible. some can get annoying like one town everyone is frenchish and will say something in french before saying the same exact shit in english and it's annoying

S'il vous plaît, please, aidez nous, help us!

There are some accents but it's not awful like in the past

>grind for hours for Mervyn to get Multiheal as a Sage
>the cloud boss should be easy now
>got attacked by vacuum wave
>"it's okay, mervyn will just heal it"
>the fucker then went fucking first out of nowhere and use thin air again, wiping out my entire party

The fuck am I supposed to do now? Mervyn is stuck as a Sage. Can't change to a faster class. And yes, I already equipped him with Mercury's Bandanna.

Is there a reason why they even exist? Does the jp game have them?
I still get triggered when I see them after attempting to get through IV DS. Here's hopeing someone gives the ps1 remake some love and a translation

>having the slow dude as your healer
Why not make Ruff do it?

Because he's my second damage dealer other than the hero.

And he's still outspeed by the boss anyways in his paladin class.

Mervyn gets outsped by everything due to being a silly old man, healer doggo is a much better choice. Guess you'll just have to luck your way through.
At the very least hopefully you'll do better than I did, with the hero spamming Multifist while the other two twiddled their thumbs healing every now and then.

>Multifist

Is it better than Knucle Sandwich? My Ruff got that.

I don't think it is? I'm not too sure.
Oomph only powers the first hit and it hits 4 times for 50-60 damage.
I was using it because I was sick of missing all the time.

I see. It's like Sword Dance then.

Knuckle Sandwich hits like 600 fully buffed.

Yeah knuckle sandwich is a real winner, I have insanely awful luck though. Zing is not my friend for example.

>pomposo and salvador is an example that gay couple could be happy even in fantasy world
Whoa, didn't know Dragon Quest was this progressive.

>Oomph character
>Focus Strength
>Knuckle Sandwich
>miss
After having this happen several times, I've just decided to forgo the Focus Strength phase

anybody?

Where can I grind for Agility Seeds? Need that shit for my healer.

Is it just me who honestly prefers DQIX's vocation system to this one? And the reason is kind of dumb, but its one of the things I like the most about a dragon quest game: metal slimes.

During the story, you pretty much avoid metal slimes when grinding so that you don't get overleveled and I can only imagine that in post game you won't really feel any joy when you find that amazing platinum king jewel. All the joy of finding a monster of the metal slime family is sadly gone in this iteration and apart from IX, its the one that has all the metal slime family.

Game is still fucking great tho. And story is leagues better than DQ IX, its just that I feel like it impacts the gameplay.

What was the point of replacing random battles with overworld enemies, if they spawn on top of you or in narrow corridors constantly? This volcano at the start is far more irritating than I remember because it gives you the illusion of avoiding fights you can't actually avoid.

I feel like I'm overlevelled as well, everyone's at level 10 at this point but it still seems to early to be that high.

>mfw I know the reason why your dad is so buff while you are a cute shota

>poison dagger worked on the boss
>snooze worked on the boss

>boss with 2 minions spawns
>uh oh, better use counting sheep, hope those minions fall asleep
>boss and 1 minion fall asleep, other minion stays awake

that minion had no chance on his own, and the success rate of counting sheep was 100% for the boss and the other minion

Currently Main Guy and Ruff are Gladiators and Maribel is a sage. Any thoughts on what to do with RufF long term? I was planning Champion.

I dunno man, Ruff's high agility make him a much better support/healer in my eyes

he can really fill any role though

>buffing and debuffing actually works well and stacks
This game is a gem.

Remember being super excited for Final Fantasy 12 and then finding a demo of it would be in the new DQ8 release. (I played a demo of the first level)

Got it for christmas just cause of that, but damn DQ8 was so much fucking better than 12

and thankfully, unlike DQ8, not every boss learns Disruptive Wave halfway through the game

I feel like Metal slimes are actually much more lenient on how much longer they stick around for. I killed plenty of them around the time you go through the roots of ygg and I'm doing alright.

I really wasn't a fan of how DQ9 handled vocations

How you unlock the advanced ones are completely retarded and it doesn't help that the spells and abilities you get don't carry over. Same with stats. Having a base stat and having your vocation alter it with your vocation was a much better way of handling things

It felt like the real reason to grind vocations in DQ9 was pretty much for skill points and skill points alone.

It was also neat how many weapons types there were in DQ9 but some of the skills on them seemed kind of underwhelming.

Gotcha, thanks

I think the sidequests to obtain the advanced vocations were fun

stacks

Well, skill points are fine and fun to get. Having no skills that carry over makes the class itself more unique, kind of like they were in DQIII where a role was important and not just a thing to grind out to get another role. The sidequests were also quite alright in my opinion. I agree that the base stat multiplier in this game is better tho.

But the grinding itself is not as fun as in other games. The metal slime family used to be there to make grinding fun and planning the best way to kill them was fun too. Yet in this game you either avoid them in the story and they're irrelevant in post game, really makes me sad desu. There's barely any excitement of finding one of them.

Well, I guess its all up to preference though.

This.

Give him all your MP seeds. He'll need it since his MP is so low.

Anyone else find VII to be crack? I hust Mervyn and I have been grinding non stop and fucking love it. My hero and maribel just got druid and I'm grinding monster hearts and basic classes for mervyn. Can someone tell me when I should expect to go solo with Mervyn? I've heard its a tough section and right now Mervyn seems kinda shitty, I don't know if I should grind a intermediate class for him to master or get him to a intermediate class and hope for the best. I really don't feel like grinding paladin for him.

Fuck, meant to say "just got" and that my hero is at Hero now.

The equipment on the Sea Dragon seems pretty good for the endgame, but it's also not cheap. Is worth buying them?

Should I be grinding monster classes or real classes? I only unlocked alltrades abbey like 2 or 3 islands ago

That wasn't me you dumb fag

I can't bring myself to stop grinding slimes; I already have all the base vocations maxed and 51k gold. Send help.

Why would I want that proto-sephiroth to be happy? nigga calls himself the manslayer and probably was responsible for killing fifty men. The heroes should have taken his shins.

>just 51k gold
I grinded 3 basic jobs and I got 26k.

Do a few human classes first i'd say. The exclusive skills you get from monster classes is nice but it doesn't seem like you don't get as many as a human class.

Once you master the advanced class you want for each character, master the Healslime class for characters that don't have Multiheal.

yup. that's definitely a necessity

there are some other nice skills you can get like Multislice from Berserker

What does multi slice have on weird whacker/roundhouse?

Well it hits all enemies and does pretty high damage.

What are you going to do with your treasure? I was thinking of just investing it all into casino tokens, but I didn't know if I should wait until I get the monster casino.

I just stored it in the bank for now until I get to a large enough jump in equipment.

i waited so many years for this game and now i don't have time to play it

i want to go back to my neet life

>this and SMTIV and Final Fantasy XV are all coming out when university is gearing up to kick my ass
I want to go back too, I don't want to turn into a normie

I'm approaching the second battle with the demon king about 50 hours in. Who do I leave behind?

>play games all day erry day as a kid
>go to college
>studying no time for vidya
when I being work things will change!
>get employed work 60-70 hours a week writing code

fuck this life
the closest I come to games now is when I browse Cred Forums for 5 minutes

>Gabo damages a bag o' laughs
>It bounces back with that goofy grin
>the Ice damage from the dirk kicks in and he gets defeated from it getting knocked back again quickly

the monster animations can be kinda funny sometimes.

>those times where enemies trip and the game counts it as a miss

Wait, ca i actually put all bosses to sleep? I never even bothered trying

Wtf, Ruff, you're retarded?

What is with the monsters in the meadows having levels?

How do i raise the monsters level?

couple of bosses are also not immune to netloss, which can be spammed over and over.

He's laughing because he knows.

You have to put one in a bonus barn and then recruit more

What do these levels even do?

I think it makes them stronger if you make them a boss of a tablet, but I'm not sure

I'd recommend getting Oomph from Jawtoise too if your final class doesn't get it

None.

None but you can turn your party into monsters

It's a lot of defense but there's only like one or two areas where bosses have water attacks

>How you unlock the advanced ones are completely retarded
Excuse me? Doing specific quest to unlock the class is much more interesting than grind class x + class x to max.

Just have him spam Multiheal every turn regardless of what the boss does
When you have a slow healer that's usually the best way to deal with things

To be fair Tension abuse would've made the game a massive joke if they didn't

They really should've made Psyche Up a skill you actually have to learn or something

Does this reason have to do with Sharkeye? Because I'm pretty sure it has to do with Sharkeye.

What's the best item to trade tokens for to make money out of the casino?

Should I give all my agility seeds to Mervyn, or all my HP seeds to Maribel? I mean if I have Asihe and Hero as melee and keep Maribel/Mervyn as a focused healer with Ruff doing any odd job that needs doing, be it more hitting or healing, then would I be better off with Maribel or Mervyn?

Prayer rings, I believe

How Can I play this game while having a job?
It seems so grindy

the same way the millions of japs who also have jobs do?

One of the cats in Sharkeye's ship gives you a Yes/No prompt, say Yes for a mini-medal

My order finally came in from Amazon

I'm so hyped to start Cred Forums

Is there any chance we will ever get DQX in the west? Heck, I might even think of learning japanese for this game. Watching a playthrough and it looks so good, definitely feels like a Dragon Quest game despite being a MMO. The thing is that with all the patches, it has a ridiculous amount of content and monsters compared to others DQs.

And it looks quite fun.
youtube.com/watch?v=Bil9aHNquno

Have fun user kun, but remember, your in this for the long hual

There's been a lot of Metal Slimes around ever since I reached Gröndal. I'm not grinding them or anything, but should I outright make an effort to stay away from them to avoid ending up above the job leveling limit or is it fine to kill ones you come across normally?

I don't mind the idea of doing a quest to unlock them but the quest themselves were bothersome. Getting Armamentalist in particular was pretty bad. My least favorite part of the vocation system in 9 is having to start from level 9 when you change to a new vocation.

I've killed all the ones I've run into normally and the only time I've never outleveled the story areas I'm supposed to be in. And that's including fucking around in some tablets that also had Metal Slimes.

They're literally like normal monsters in this game. Kill them whenever they appear.
Preferably avoid them when grinding classes in a place with them.

No it's never happening ever. The only possible chance we have to get DQX is if they make a remake a decade from now and DQ has managed to get super popular by then.
Better start learning Japanese.

Probably not. Which sucks because it's a mainline game! I'm mad enough about not getting some of the spin offs!

All those Dragon Quest Monsters games on the 3ds...

If Mervyn is the legendary hero why he sucks so much?
Even his equip sucks, why couldn't they have done something like the Zenithian legendary gears from the previous DQ?

Btw is he going to leave forever at some point like Keifer? Should I use my precious hearts on him or should I just give them to my hero?

There's bound to be an unlocking quest that's harder than others, otherwise there will be no challenge at all. But I agree Armamentalist was rather underwhelming compared to how hard it was to unlock it.

He leaves temporarily in disc 2, you solo with him for a single dungeon, and he comes back later.

Did I miss something? Where did you get that Pomposo and Salvador are gay for each other?

i find the selection of what he can and can't equip rather odd

Also this game doesn't seem to like giving Gabo new armor at times.

He got it out of his ass, user. He baited you.

For how long does Maribel leave?

Maribel is going to leave too, right?
Is there any point in keep grinding jobs with her at this point (just freed Mervyn and haven't done anything else) or should I just let her be a maxed up Sage and enjoy the multiheal?

>pomposo didn't marry another woman after his wife died
>instead he was raising his daughter with his "best" friend
>his most important paintings are the one with his daughter and his "best" friend in it

Why is Thin Air so ridiculously strong? I didn't even slime-grind to get it early, but it's still really strong for where I am.

...

Maribel leaves at point A, then the entire part splits up and no battles happen in this time, then the party reconvenes with (You), Ruff, Aishe, and you can go tell Maribel to come with you. Mervyn is on the run for gambling debts, and will rejoin with you later.

The best part is it scales with your attack it seems, my Hero's Thin Air is doing almost as much damage as Ruff's Scorch

so it's not true that Maribel leaves forever?

Only Kiefer leaves forever

I don't think so. It seems unaffected by Oomph and Focus Strength.

oh shit. I'm giving her the healslime heart right now

>Only Kiefer leaves forever
;_;

>Press B

>No one has anything to say

Well it definitely does more with my Hero than it does on Mervyn. Only other thing it could scale with would be level.

so the book in haven said that it absorbed my blueprints, the message said the building will be ready in the morning, I zoomed to an inn, I slept and there are still no new enclosures.
What do?

>Mervyn is on the run for gambling debts
Shit, I'm almost finished with all the colored fragments (just finished the Vale), can't wait for this part.

...

Are there other thiefs keys other than the one in pilgrims perdition? I have no money to buy it at the moment. Or can you return there later?

Why is platinum shield cheaper than magic shield despite having the same effect and better def? Are there different tiers of magic reduction?

>return to Al-Balad
>the Queen told us to safeguard a certain item
>Maribel has no idea what she's talking about either

Oh god what the fuck.

You shouldn't since sage gives her the same healing spells, and you wanna make her your main magic user.

Druid doesn't keep Multiheal if you advance her to that later, unless you make her a Healslime first.

That just means you didn't get it in the past, but time fuckery makes it that you eventually will be picking it up.

Present Queen hasn't given you shit. So by process of elimination...

>past Queen didn't give us anything
>present Queen says past Queen did
>this means we're going back to the past at some point again

Fucking time travel.

Does DQ7 does the whole fight big bosses from previous games with the tablets like they did in 9?

>Kiefer wants to stay behind with the girl he likes
No no no, I have a bad feeling about this, don't you dare do some dumb shit, you little shit

I need you. You are my friend.

Didn't she give you the Blood Eye to safeguard?

How exactly does retaining abilities from classes work? I just switched to Sailor on my Hero and lost all my Monster Masher abilities. Is there no way to have access to any of those abilities unless I'm in Monster Masher specifically?

I Just completed greenthumb, please Tell me im close to Jobs

Yes. The only skills you retain are from basic or monster vocations

You can only retain abilites from basic classes (i.e. those without prerequisites) and monster classes. Monster Masher is an advanced class, so you don't retain shit; if you want those skills permanently, you need to find monster classes with them and then train in those, or just stay as Monster Masher.

That was really screwed up.

Set him to A.I control with "Focus on Healing"

see

Who should I give Emilia's letter to?

Nope

Wait there is an in game reason? I figured it was just jrpg logic that a sixteen year old was a lot smaller than his dad.

>get ruff on a class with thin air
>set tactics to "Don't use magic"
>random battles over in less than 5 seconds
If I only knew beforehand that the AI was decently smart, I'd have done this much sooner.

bump

Don't use magic is a pretty good AI tactic actually.

The only reason I can come up with is that he was born 4 months early.

There is. It's involving three letters. NTR

Why the fuck does my party order keep getting switched around?

>weak enemies don't count toward job advancement
>stronger enemies don't count more
>fighting multiple enemies count just like fighting a single enemy
why is this job system so retarded?

>Inside the Time Frame

This is surprisingly complex for a DQ dungeon.

The hero is small because in the Dragon Quest universe, you get 'buff' through experience. And his dad is the equivalent of Fishing God. He must have a ton of hidden Sailor skill levels unavailable to the normal character.

Because this game has a really weird way of handling party members and lacks a wagon for no real reason.

is glitzy glombero a rare item? it cant be sold.

There's an even weirder one later on

fuck, seriously
>going through the cave with Florin
>cutscene comes up
>suddenly my party goes from Hero/Ruff/Maribel to Hero/Maribel/Ruff
it's a really minor thing, but it throws me off a lot

It was bad in the PS1 game, but works fine in the 3DS remake. In fact, now its abusable thanks to the monster tablets. Many people are grinding out 4-5 classes before even hitting level 25.

The reason they did it is pretty simple. They calculated how many battles the playtesters had by the end of the game and then adjusted the class system to that. So if players had like 5,000 battles between Dharma and the end game, that means each class should have about 500 battles to level up. Of course, its not perfect. Especially all those story events that don't let you return back to the Dharma Temple. Or maxing out a class right before a boss in a 10 story tower. Really wish they gave Sage the ability to change classes on the field like DQIX had.

are there any optional islands that I can miss by not exploring enough?

>and lacks a wagon for no real reason.
This is the real flaw. All the shit about Keifer and Maribel leaving could have been avoided if they just had a wagon. Dragon Quest Vi had a wagon and that game had you going into a dream world where the horse shouldn't even exist. There's no excuse for DQVII, which just has time portals in the same world.

What does Spooky Aura do? Make status spells/abilities more like to work or increase spell damage?

Because it's per battle, and not per monster as you're thinking.

Only one in the postgame.

How do I beat hybris?

Already took 20 tries to beat envoy and now this cunt keeps wiping my party in 2 turns.

I got to the Altar of the Almighty, but what do I do now?

It's all the more baffling because the previous three games all had it. They even reintroduced it in DQ8 and the original PS2 game only had 4 party members.

Dragon quest 7 only has 5 party members by the end of it but you're forced to leave one behind (who i assume gets no exp or anything.) But since your party is just Hero - Maribel and Gabo for a significant chunk of the game the person left behind will probably be Aishe or Mervyn.

I wonder how different it'd be if Kiefer stuck with you for the entire game, going back to live with the Roamers after your beat the final boss.

You're on the second fight with him, right? The first one is unwinnable

Magic Barrier helps a lot again, then just have someone with Multiheal or Hustle Dance and you're set

Jesus fucking christ. I've called every single eb games in Toronto asking for a fucking copy of this game and it's sold out everywhere. I'm about to off myself.

>The first one is unwinnable

I'm at the fist one and I've been restarting my 3ds every time he wipes my party because I don't really feel like losing all this dosh.

I guess I'll just lose to him then.

Final party member. Aishe or Mervyn?

why not go back and visit the bank at Estard

Just order it on Amazon.

what a small world. I just called a store close to me in Toronto and they said they had a copy.

Too far away and I'm too lazy.

Any tips on winning big in the casino?

So I get to burn Vogograd to the ground right?

Which one?

Less than 60 hours in and I've beaten Orgodemir for the first time. He was pretty easy. My party was
Hero (Champion 7*) lvl 37
Mervyn (Champion 7*) lvl 34
Ruff (Hero 8*) lvl 35
Aishe (Armamentalist 4*) lvl 33

Everybody knew Oomph, Focus Strength, and Knuckle Sandwich. Dishing out damage was too easy. I was hitting for about 1300 with the Hero with every focused and oomphed Knuckle Sandwich. This shit is crazy. I can't wait till I get the Ultrahit (or whatever it's called in this version) and the MP to spam it.

The one at yonge and eglinton. why? don't bother I already reserved it you piece of shit

I don't think it really matters. whichever one you like more i guess. Aishe seems better suited for physical attacking roles and Mervyn's pretty good with magic but not too bad at melee roles.

I wish Aishe joined you a lot sooner and Mervyn started at a higher level with better gear and at least some vocation progress.

She comes with Dancer maxed out. That's pretty much it and if you don't want her to be a Luminary then it's pretty useless.

Having Mervyn starts as Armamentalist and Aishe as Artist would have been better considering how late they join

darkness: theres missable mini medals lol
me: what?!?!?!?
darkness: here is list... hehe heh, see all you missed and fall to despair!!!
me: *checks* sh*t... damn...!!! *checks* wait.... I have nae missed a thing!!!!
darkness: noOOOoOoooOo *is defeated*

who else #winning here?! feels GOOD :)

Is there any reason not to give a boomerang to everyone that can use one?

I think you've had too much "tea" user.

Some of the dancer skills are decent at least.

It would've been cool if he started out like that. especially if he had some ranks in Priest

How hard is it to get automaton hearts? Should i make everyone thieves and just fight the damn things?

I heard you have to go to the demon kings past to get them.

Can you tame the automotons in the past demon lord lair or no?
Or should i just fucking grind bolt rat class and then grind automaton so i can get esterk

Does this mean I'm cucking myself by making Mervyn a Champion rather than a Druid?

please respond
I don't know what the fuck to do after getting out of the cave

Not at all. Though I was planning on making him a Hero myself.

Hero is another good thematic fit for him, but for some reason I'm autistic and can't let other people than the MC be a Hero.

You mean you weren't going to stick the hero as a Pirate?

The hero's gotta be a Hero, man. But I am going Paladin->Gladiator->Pirate->Hero so I can headcanon that he ends up as a pirate for obvious reasons, until he realizes his true potential and becomes a Hero.

I don't remember that part being complicated. Can you describe the problem you are having?

>mfw Luka brings in his dead mothers statue to make the priest feel better.

Just get it digital or pirate it.

>yfw that priests life is suffering

Atleast he had some good times.

Vogogrod is a shit hole. These fucking people.

I just don't know how to advance the story. Rom Baro is talking about how the Torban of Truth and the Vestment of Virtue are inside the Altar, but I can't get in.
Rosa mentioned that Lala and the others should arrive soon and how I "must lose no time in entering the Altar."

I THINK I've talked to everyone, and Party Chat doesn't give me any information other than the fact that I need the two sacred items.

They're not in the cave I was just in, are they?

Wow, the Ear Stone part of the Earth Likeness puzzle was some fucking bullshit. I can't believe I figured that out on my own just now, I was about to ask for help.

they should've gone with an AP system or something like that.
Also getting rid of the whole "backtrack everytime you need to change job" wouldn't be bad either. A progress bar for the number of battles needed would be good too but the menu doesn't even have exp progress because of "muh immersion muh church" so whatever

Have you examined the image on the right of the altar, in front of Rom?

oh, fuck me
I just assumed he was too close for me to go ahead of him.

Im at that First Casino in the Well, whats a good Way to make some Money?

>mouth stone
>clue mentions passage of time
>think using the sands of time will open it
>you actually have to just wait a few seconds

The slot machine on the fight right has two rows of 7's. Build up some tokens on the 1 token machines first though so you don't need to savescum too often.

If you want the best tokens -> money ratio there's cheesing the flip game by writing down cards and selling anything you don't need (there's some fucking good equipment in there too) or just buying Prayer Rings to sell.

Wiggles just died, and then immediately after Maribel up and left.
What's next, game? Is the Demon King going to present me with Kiefer's and his girlfriend's heads on a plate? Is Ruff going to get diagnosed with cancer? Fuck.

how does the blueprint thing works?
The book absorbed the bluprint, I slept somewhere but I still have no new buldings

Does anyone know what the use effect of a Godaeas Sword is? There's one for sale here and I don't remember seeing it in other DQ games, don't wanna waste my money on it if it's not anything good.

Do you mean the One next to the One where the big Dude is sitting at?

Don't forget Rocky, user...

Use the one the buff dude is sitting at. He's not in your way at all.

Is there a particular reason Body Slam hardly ever lands?

How do you get the kids in Vovogrand or whatever to let me in the house?

Talk to everyone in town and try again

are menus transitions actually slow.
will there be a patch

>Try to use the Skystone to land on top of Ventus Tower
>It just drops me off on the ground outside it

Whats your highest damage in one turn Cred Forums?

>give Ruff some knuckles
>he jumps off his wolf and punches the shit out of enemies

Why does Ruff have the coolest animations?

The image is oddly appropriate considering what comes next

nottagen.

>Give Ruff/Gabo every seed of agility
>MULTI-WOLF DRIFTING

What's a good class for Ruff? He's fast so I'm thinking something with healing, but he also has low MP.

he also has the best class costumes.
together with maribel martial artist, too bad she sucks at pysical

>Carraway ran off without Lavender like a cuck
>future greenthumb
>assumed that Lavender was some sorry bitch who left her family and had her body buried next to Carraway's after he died

>kind of in the future from the past greenthumb
>found out she was the one who died first and spent years watching him from afar
>he was the one who had his body buried next to her instead

Also where do I go after Cayenne gets kicked out of the manor

Make him max out Priest, and after that go for Monster Masher (Thief + Shepard)

Girlfriend? thats his wife they have great great great great great grandkids.

Since he's the only party member that never leaves, you should definitely at least put him through priest/healslime so you never run out of healers

Does anyone else love finding mini medals? I dunno why, but it's always satisfying for me to find one.

Aishe with a sword is rad though. She does the jump spin slash

Yes, but I think you can permanently miss some and not have enough for the final reward.

>Ruff using Wind Sickle

2291. I just beat Orgodemir for the first time and I'm getting some casino tokens in the second casino.

Any class with Thin Air, a move that hits all enemies for beyond reasonable damage without costing any MP. So Pirate, Paladin, and Champion.

Shit. what's the final reward?

>Aishe uses Flame Slash.

>If I died, you'd remember me forever and ever, wouldn't you?
>Yes
>You would? Good. In that case, I suppose I'd remember you too

cute desu

A platinum metal king heart

Most notable thing about it is that it's the only monster heart that gives you Omniheal which i think is otherwise exclusive to the Hero class.

Where do you find platkings

You cant even find a platinum metal king, gem slime int he wild can you?

How do you level up your monsters?

>Missed several minimedals
>Missables included
>Can't remember which ones did I miss

I'm going to have to backtrack every single minimedal spot.

That aside, which cat gives the minimedal aboard the marle de dragone.

I'd say in one of the postgame dungeons..

Either that or a future SQEX traveller's tablet

>that Greenthumb Gardens revisit

Damn. That's depressing. Is there any more to it after Dill and Cayenne get kicked out of town?

You can go to Wilted Heart in the past too.

>Dill and Cayenne get kicked out of town
Huh? I didn't get this part. Last thing I saw was just Dill get into his house after his son told him to work.

>The metal slime gets up and looks at you expectantly. The poor thing just wants to be looked after!

Neat.

Where do I get the other fragment from the Dig Site? I've already gotten the one from the well.

>Mervyn as a Armamentalist

Looking pretty dapper there.

Yeah, I already showed Carraway Lavender's grave. It just still feels like there's something left to do. I haven't even gotten a single item or anything out of it all yet.

I'm looking at some JP gameplay of DQ7 and 8 on the 3DS. I really hope DQ8 doesn't suffer from the slow menu problems that DQ7 has. I swear it's the like the game stutters every time you do something in the menu. Battles seems so much slower than the JP version of DQ7.

That's pretty much it then.

You'll need a card from the site's professor.

You'll get it as the story progresses

Just started the game yesterday. It's my first DQ game. What am I in for? Any general tips I should know about from the start?

Look for the missable minimedals

Don't give Kiefer any seed

Dont grind early game. Wait until jobs are unlocked.

>fighting gracos
>worry because many anons asked how to beat him in previous threads
>turns out he's not that hard, even Setesh was harder when I fought him
I guess that's thanks to kabuff and multiheal I got since the tower.

Yea idk if i over leveled but i beat alot of things prity easily, apart from rasher and the cat

Huh. Well, all right then. I just figured there'd be a shard at the end or something since this was a pretty lengthy quest. But the story was enjoyable so it's fine, I suppose.

Found the fucking cat

Below deck, front of the ship

Also, check behind Estard's Castle once you have the ultimate key

>"After Final Boss: Get the Broken Lithograph under the well in Gran Estard. Put it in the treasure box you can go through the lattice gate under the town and get it later. (After loading saved data)"
I still want to understand this.

You got up to the part where Cayenne poisoned the dog and the maid is looking for proof, right? Go talk to the maid, then exit the house and enter again through the main entrance. After that it should be obvious what you have to do.

>just won 3k tokens at the slots

when do I move on to the 100-token machines

Honestly, the fact I constantly need to go to church to save is really dragging this game down for me. Ugh, just let me save anywhere.

>those robots going weeeee

Get five watermelons on a 100 slot machine at full token usage and your set.

>You got up to the part where Cayenne poisoned the dog and the maid is looking for proof, right?
Not yet. I was at the part where the maid giving leftover foods to the dog, but after that I find no other scene, so I went along with the story. Now I'm at 2 islands after, can I go back and see the scenes?

Not sure, but it's worth trying.

I think that refers to the treasure in the cliff.

If I remember well, in PSX's version, you needed to keep a specific tablet fragment there so you could recover as a legit fragment for one of the extra dungeons.

I don't really know if they kept this feature, but if you find some fragment that you can put in their place, go do it.

Will I get constantly stuck in this game or does that Info thing do a good job at making sure you know what to do? I fear with a game this large I'll be getting stuck constantly and I don't like using guides.

Basically, do you always have a good idea on where to go?

That no longer exists. Just after you beat orgodemir you have to jump into the estard well.

The game has a inbuilt guide for finding fragments now.

It's pretty easy. Just remember to rotate your camera

Yeah. The info menu really helps.

>Pretty thorough when it comes to searching every nook and cranny in new towns and dungeons
>Clear the desert island and go back to the future
>Visit the digging site first to get the tablet fragment there
>Continue to the desert in the present and visit the village and palace
>Go back to the Shrine to place the tablet fragments
>One short
>Both the spirit and old lady at the mech base don't tell me shit

Fuck. Where the fuck did I miss a fragment?

What do I do to make the serpent appear in Al-Balad? The guy by the vase gave me a prophecy saying something along the lines of I would find what I need in another world. But I guess I haven't been paying close enough attention because I have no idea where that would be

Which pedestal?

Ya gotta go back to the past Jack

There's a quick save.

Videogamesplus might have it in stock.

check the info menu

Get its skull at present dig site.

Go to the dig site.

Ohhhhh

I was wondering what the point of that dig site was. Probably would've taken me forever to remember it on my own.

Thanks

The bottom left yellow pedestal is the one I'm missing only one fragment for, the rightmost fragment to be exact. So it seems to me that's the next island I need to go to.

is there an easy way to obtain hearts from monsters?
I have had hundreds of slime hearts but the other monsters drop them so rarely, wtf?

what's the limit of tablet you can download from the bar?

>'Quick' save
>it closes the game after saving
Bravo!

I have literally never gotten a heart from a monster and I'm 60 hours in the game.

maybe there's a certain level per monster?
I've been trying to get a Drake Slime heart from the reformed monster tablet to no avail, fuck

They only drop with a good chance if your in a tablet dungeon dumbo

I spent an hour grinding automatons in a tablet for a heart.

You get them from traveler's tablet monsters only. Or pots/chests. Or casino.

I'm also 60 hours in but I'm grinding a lot of jobs (just obtained Mervyn) and I swear every 2 or 3 encounter with a slime I got a heart.
Maybe the drop rate is higher for monsters you already have in the meadow?

lucky panels pretty much always have one

it's like 40 or something

It doesn't erase the quick save when you load from it though

Monster Masher for Scorch

>it doesn't erase
save scumming at the casino here I come

You can't quick save in towns

is there any difference between muster strenght and focus strength?
Damn these useless descriptions

I think that fragment is in Vocationis.

Is it a four fragment pedestal?

...

Did you ever take the Monster Munchies off the table in the Monster Meadows? This is easy to miss and required before anything will drop its heart

>get to Alltrades Abbey
>all my spells are taken away
please
I just want vocations

Nope. There's plenty of useless skills or skills that do the same thing as another.

Oh on the little island tour after orgodemir is when you can get it?

I did. I've had monsters come to the meadow, but none have dropped a heart. I have tons from casino and chests, but none from an actual monster.

Have fun user. It's a wild ride.

You havn't even begun to suffer

Yes and for the love of god use the water amulet when the time comes. Its required for the final dungeon.

REQUIRED for a tablet piecee

Also go through the waterfall

>past Vogograd connects to past Al-Balad via bridge
>it's the same time era so there's nothing new to do
Boring

Grind monsters in tablets for hearts.

Frankly i recommend doing it lategame so you can skip all the intermediate monster vocations and jump to the advanced ones.

I assume that was in so you could get the tablet piece they have for you?

>Two bonus dungeon
>Need two more for the first one
>only one tablet left on the map and its maximos mansions
The fuck do i need to do?

Wait are certain monster jobs locked behind mastering another monster job? I have to do that and get it's heart?

Oh and as for lategame, I've beaten Orogodemir for the first time. Is that late enough?

That would make sense. I got the piece beforehand from the info hints to make sure I didn't miss anything. Still boring though since there's no major story developments like in other instances

Get 85 mini medals

How do you increase monster levels at monster meadows? I recruited like 15 stainless scrappers and their level hasnt gone up. I've beaten the tablet like 5 times too.

ALL I GET IS MEDICINE

Yeah. You can become a Slaughtomaton if you master automaton and purple dragon something rhakashva. Then if you master drak slime you can become a platinum slime.

Sorry i wasent clear, i need two more but theres only one that the things detecting, im wondering how im supposed tio unlock the first bonus dungeon if theres only one tablet left.

Yeah I thought it was really cool when you got to go back to the herb town if it would happen other times but nope, you only revisit a place years later once.
For a game all about time travel, the mechanics are very underutilized.

How long until I get another character to join my party after Kiefer leaves? Aishe is next, right?

You can skip monster job levels by getting the heart directly though.

But esterks are in the 2nd postgame dungeon. You can't get a slaughtomaton heart either.

But you can get a platslime heart from king maximo

To be fair the game had already been delayed 2 years.

Yeah, there's one there I missed. Also missed one in the hidden passage in the Temple Palace (desert island) in the past after you beat Satesh.

I know where the hidden staircase is but I can't get it to open up.

Mervyn is next. You can get him right after you beat Gracos in the past.

>get into an encounter
>Fingers immediately uses a medicinal herb
>it does nothing because everyone in my party is at full health
this is really epic

Is there any reason given for why frobisher and faraday castle are empty, including ellie, old maid bot, old and new vacuum bots and the inventors skeletons.

>get into another encounter
>two armored scorpions immediately single out Ruff, dealing 45 damage each
what the fuck? who thought this was a good idea?

RNGesus.

Man, Buccanham is kinda fucked up.
But i really like it.
It's my favorite city, probably my favorite island so far.

Yuji Horii.

He's a gambling man.

How do I get the Prism Dew, they say I have to go back to the MC's hometown island but, where would it be?

>Grind an hor and a half for automaton heart

>2 drop in less than 2 minutes

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH

go to the blue teleportal in the shrine of mysteries.

Use the blue teleporter room in the shrine

That part's bullshit, nobody ever hints at that, it's the only way into that area, and you'd never think to try it

This so much. I consulted a guide at that point. I had no fucking idea. The Hero tells some guy in the past that it's on his island, but I still had no idea where on that island. I didn't think of using the portals since they all transport you to places that aren't on the island. I guess the blue one doesn't.

>Ruff learns a new ability after our spells were stolen
>still can't use it
mamma mia

I think you have to recover an object from the queen first. If you have done so, inspect the statue on the right in the room behind her room

>Finish earth and wind spirit
>Want to go to alltrades
>Sharkeye makes us turn the world back to normal first
>Wake water spirit
>Reveal who the Almighty REALLY IS like a scooby doo villain
>I just want to change classes
>My feet hurt
>I bet mom made some sweet pilchard pie I could be having if I weren't here

>you find the grave of the Medal Detector and obtain his life's work
RIP in peace

Is Dragon Quest VII the first open world game on the 3DS?

In the PS1 game you could access that beach from one of the long winding cavern paths within the Shrine itself. Since that was all removed they just left the teleportal and nothing else.

I wouldn't say its fully open world, but there's been a bunch of RPGs on the 3DS with the same style of over world.

I've given up at alltrades abbey, I wasn't enjoying the game bit everyone said to make it there at least.
Only plot point I enjoyed was frobisher but it wasn't enough to keep me hooked.

Should I keep her as an Armentalist she just max ranked the vocation or should I change her for some other vocation?
Like her basic vocation was Dancer which was already maxed, I maxed Warriors and Mage only.
Because it's feel I got her really late and I'm already 70h+ in the game.

OK

Is Pip Fighter's design supposed to be based off of DQ3 Hero?

Yes, obviously

I had her as a Luminary for a while for Hustle Dance but now that I've got a Sage's Stone I'm working on making her a Champion

As soon as I got her I had her grind Troubador and Jester and then just left her as a Luminary until I got Maribel back and dropped her

I hate Melvin. I can't believe they get rid of best girl for the this old faggot until endgame.

Why are the graphics, art design and writing so shit?

Is Sir Mervyn just his title, or is that actually what the game lists as his name so everyone calls him that? I might change it to just Mervyn if so.

Toriyama is not shit, you shit.

I didnt think I would lose another character after Keifer

Maribel leaving fucked me over so so badly

she was my healer, I spent forever getting her to a sage and gave her cureslime powers

Now I have no spells to heal or buff my whole party

Im fucked

I just beat the game, clocking in at 55:01. What should I do now?

You'll have to make kusojiji your healer.

We're you skipping through all the text or something?

Make Melvin a Paladin, start by grinding Priest class.

I like Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. I don't like this. The artwork looks recognizable, but bad.

I mean it was OK back when the original versions were coming out, but it barely looks updated.

Hell, the ingame graphics look worse with this 3D obsession. Who would paid for this garbage? It's a complete downgrade in every aspect.

No, I just didn't bother grinding vocations until the end. I must have spent the last five hours getting a party ready to face the final boss, which mostly meant getting the girls to the intermediate classes needed for their advanced ones and getting Ruff and Auster to Champion and Hero statuses.

It's more like they got rid of Maribel to make room for Aishe though

Kick gods ass.

Oh you're back again

That's just getting the rest of the mystery fragments, right? I'll have to get back to the game for that much.

*Aira

>55:01

Ok so besides the Main Character is there anyone who stays in the party

It seems pretty pointless to make anyone a dedicated type and every character has to be good at everything cause the party keeps changing

Just make Merv a Paladin

Ruff never leaves

Everyone except Kiefer comes back sooner or later anyway

>and every character has to be good at everything
Not really
A lot of different classes get the group buff skills you need

one of the god fragments is in the well in estard after you beat orgodemir during the island tour

Here you go.

Damn, I forgot to pick up that piece. Guess that means I'll have to fight Orgodemir again. I might have better luck the next time if I promote Maribel to a Druid instead of having her fight as a Luminary.

You don't lose money unless it's a normal game over, i.e. you wake up in the church. Forced losses (and even one unforced loss by the bandits outside alltrades) don't impact your funds at all

God damn man. I'm the same level and around the same time and I just beat Orgodemir for the first time. You're pretty fast man.

I beat Orgodemir for the first time around the 40 hour mark. It was at that point where I asked how much of the game was still left, and someone told me another 40-60 hours. I'm still pretty happy with how much I got out of this game, and there's reason enough for me to get back into it, but it wasn't the 100 hour long adventure that I believed it to be.

At least the Slime Hill should make grinding move pretty quickly. I was grinding for gold on Gold Golems before I found out about the Gem Slimes spawning near Yggdrasil.

Please don't. He's slow as molasses.

If you have slow healers you just need to preempt the damage.

You could also set his AI to "Focus on Healing," and he'll target who needs healing once he gets his turn.

In my town, it is completely sold out at Fry's, Target and Wal Mart.

Amazon has a 1-2 month back order. Its sold out everywhere (which is a good sign for the series).

I've clocked 76 hours and I don't think I've beaten the boss your speaking. "Orgodemir" doesn't sound like I fought it yet.

>Its sold out everywhere
Does this mean we will finally get the rest of this pic?

I didn't fight Orgodemir until like the 70 hour mark. I did a bit of grinding to get Merv and Aishe caught up but otherwise I've been playing normally.

You sure you didn't play the PS1 version before this or something?

Well, we didnt get DQMJ2: Pro but maybe we'll get DQMJ3: Pro

>In my town, it is completely sold out at Fry's, Target and Wal Mart.
That's a good sign for sales, right?

If you switch into another intermediate class, would you lose the abilities from that class you switched from?

I remember in the ps1 version you need to get prism dew in the beginning for something. What was it for?

Another DQ thread hits bump limit. Thanks for the thread Cred Forums.

I am considering getting this game. Haven't played a dragon quest game in a couple of years, but VIII totally changed my life. I've never been as invested in a game world as an adult as I was in that one. Does the story compare at all to VIII? I mean in terms of that kind of sentimental, tug at your heart strings kind of storylines that VIII did so well.

There's a fan translation of DQM Terry's Wonderland that is almost done.

I can only hope. We should have gotten all the 3DS games 3 years ago anyway. SquareEnix is just being stubborn. And with Final Fantasy XIV subs tanking, they should at least give DQX a try. Take half the servers from FFXIV, which are pretty deserted, and use them for a trial run of Dragon Quest X. Then you don't have to spend more money on server costs and only have to deal with localization.

I would assume so. Can't think of an example where a game selling out was a bad thing. Except Dragon Quest IV and V, which totally sold out and SE still complained it didn't do good enough.

I really miss the gameplay of older dragon quest, this class system is so bad. It seems that the only classes really good are those with multiheal and thin air/inferno.

what is puff puff supposed to do? Is it a joke ability?

DQVIII is my favorite game of all time, so I'm bias as to thinking it has the best story. But DQVII has a very different story. More like Dragon Quest V and IX on steroids.

I travelled in the Emberdale past to get the Guiding Light, but I'm not sure what's the Beacon.

Puff Puff is a hold over from Akira Toriyama, who uses it in most of his manga (Dr Slump, Dragon Ball, etc). Its basically Pazuri (girl using her breasts to rub someone off). DQ turns it into an attack and an ongoing joke.

What, did you grind out every class super early or something? Focus Strength/Oomph/Knuckle Sandwich and defensive buffs are far more important.

I miss DQ III's class system, honestly. It was simple but every class had its own value and role. I'd also be fine with no classes but with the skill point system from DQ VIII.

DQIII has always been and still is my favorite Dragon Quest. Everyone can say whatever they want about all the other DQs, it might not have the best story, it might not have the best gameplay but there's no adventure like III.

>Focus Strength
waste of turns

Yes

I remember in DQVIII, I maxed Jessica sex appeal and it worked on making lose the high tension of a pirate boss (which I completely forgot the name though) by using PUFF-PUFF.

I like all the DQ games. DQIII, IV and V are all tied for my second favorite after VIII. And this 3DS remake of DQVII is probably gonna be tied with those games for second place as well.

Dragon Quest wins for being the most consistently good game series.

I bought DQ5 on my phone to play at work and I am enjoying it more than DQ7 2bh

DQ3 has an amazing sense of adventure imo. Maybe it's because the world is modeled after the real world. It just feels so vast and diverse.

If DQVII is selling so well DQVIII should sell even better since it was so goddamn good.

I don't really give a crap about DQX (wiiu lol) but I truly loved DQM1, it was like pokemon but good and I was really looking forward to DQM2.

His name is Captain Crow. And his boss fight is hilarious because you can also put him to sleep. Most bosses leading up to him aren't susceptible to sleep, but randomly he is. Plus, he's a ghost and he falls asleep? Great joke Horii.

I guess the overworld theme is half of the experience. Its also probably the least linear of all the DQs. And when you get your boat your only indication as where to go is some rumors from last town. Some people don't like that, but I love it.

DQX is out of Wii, 3ds, PC and is probably also coming for PS4. Not only that, but it looks amazing despite being an MMO. Shame on you!

DQX is also on PC. Which is all the more baffling why it never got a western release. Because like 10 people in Japan will buy it on PC.

In the remake, there are super boss versions of every boss, and a tactic I see on that superboss version of the pirate boss is have Jessica use Puff Puff like every turn so the guy looses an attack and looses his tension. The guy attacks like 4 times a turn though.
