Found your problem. You need to play hard carry characters like Tracer or Genji. McCree is good if you have really good aim but I doubt you do, and I'm not sure if Soldier is good enough anymore, haven't played since S2 and that spread nerf kinda ruined him. If you are forced to play as a tank or healer then pick Zarya or Zenyatta, but you will always be better off carrying your team as an offensive class. Tracer is great because she's self-sustainable and Genji just has crazy mobility although is probably the hardest to get good at. They can both shred through healers though or basically anyone with less than 200 health and that's vital.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You have to be good at the game for this to work. If it doesn't work you should probably just face it that you are a shitter.

Ana is widely considered to be the best support by pros right now along Lucio. Also, you believing that Mercy is a better pick than any other support shows all too well your below-diamond level.

No, on attack Mercy is dogshit and I wish people would play any of the other supports. I'd take attack Symmetra if it meant people would stop playing Mercy. Just bringing heals isn't good enough on attack and the way it ALWAYS works out is you ult one or two people before dying and your team gets wiped anyway.

Ana bring great pushing and nullification as well as healing, Zen bring damage, a teamwide damage buff to a target and healing, Lucio brings speed and passive heals for your entire team as well as a great shield ult.

I just had a high platinum comp match that left me as Zen being the only healer. I notice halfway before the round starts and run back to switch to Ana so I can at least keep our tanks up. I barely make it back before shit hits the fan and people start dying. They then have the audacity to blame my healing.

I can understand people in QP thinking one healer is fine but goddamn, even at the gold level people should understand that two healers is pretty much the minimum.

Your tanks are going to be dropping fast if you only have a Lucio, but he's probably the best option if it's something you have to do. Either way 1 healer is a shit comp in most situations, unless you have a couple of other heroes that can self heal.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. At least I'm seeing a lot less shitty players flocking to DPS now. thing is I'm pretty shit at most DPS characters considering how infrequently I get to play them. I can roll with Reaper but he's situational and I'm almost always ass on McCree and every other damage dealer feels so weak in comparison to those two

When the 1st season started, all my wins on placement matches were zen because of team effort to keep me alive while I did the same.

I also had a Reinhardt bitch for a solid 10 minutes about me accidentally nano boosting a Lucio, then he muted the team when he couldn't figure out why no one on the team liked him. I then worked fucking miracles as a Reaper and whiped out both enemy healers in one life along with multiple tanks and attackers and we still ended up losing the game because we had a third attacker doing nothing as a Junkrat. I also lost another because my team couldn't comprehend or hear the enemy Roadhog and Reaper flanking them and instead just pushed towards their spawn expecting them to still be slowly walking out from there.

Blizzard needs to add a Valve style cool down system for people who quit out comp matches. First quit results in a half hour ban, if the second one happens within a week it should be a 5 hour ban, then 24 hours, then 7 days. Shit really works to prevent people from rage quitting out, especially since OW games are short as shit.

I went from high silver to high platinum and it's still a lot of luck in solo q. One brain dead teammate will end up fucking you over so hard that it's insane.

Granted I'm sure a lot of people here are all under the Dunning Kruger effect and think they're only losing because of their teammates. I've definitely had games were I under performed or just outright sucked. One major thing in winning is realizing when you're doing lackluster and switching to a different role. I've once bounced between 3 character just to find something that was working and barely managed to bring a game back for a win.

It is casual as fuck, but it requires teamwork to get shit done. If you're not coordinated you're going to lose out hard.

1 - performance matters
Your score per minute with each hero you used in-game is compared to the average at that SR and then scaled based on % of the match played. If you played all match as Pharah and vastly overperformed then you're going to lose very little or gain quite a lot.

2 - streaks matter
If you're on a winstreak of 3 in solo or 5 in group you're going to get entire levels (50+ points) every game unless you're being carried. If you're on a lose streak of 3 in solo or 5 in group you're going to lose whole levels.

3 - Role matters
DPS simply have more opportunites to overperform than support and tank and therefore have an advantage when it comes to SR gain.

And finally
4 - STRATEGY MATTERS
Gold and below are the wild west and if you're remotely good at shooters you'll solo Q out of it shortly by playing any offense character at all. Once you start knocking on the door of diamond, however, you've reached a point where most people do have a base level of mechanical skill. This is where individual skill takes a nosedive in importance and teamwork skyrockets. Not protecting Hanamura A with a proper Rein/Mei combo? Not sitting on the elevated areas in Numbani/Eichenwald? Team some kind of garbage deathball/dive combo? Ya gone.

Fuck, I pretty much did that. Issue is people will often still pick DPS when you already have those roles full, so your team will be lacking severely in another area.

Still, trying to get organized teams to break into Diamond is annoying. Most of the time it just feels like one person is dragging us down and like a quarter of the time it feels like we actually got outplayed.
