So I imagine the handheld will be $250, and the handheld + console station will be $350 or $400.

Console station might bring it up to around PS4 or slightly higher level power. Handheld by itself might be between Wii U and Xbone levels.

It's obvious as shit that the NX will be able to be 100% played as a handheld, if that isn't clear from the information we KNOW I don't know what else is.
So you're definitely getting that, and it'll almost certainly be a really high quality handheld too, something more along the lines of what a Vita 2 would have been like but possibly even stronger if all the hardware is in the handheld alone.
The question is if console fans will get the console they want s well. As long as it's at least as powerful as an Xbone I'll be satisfied, since that means at least Nintendo will be able to get third party support for the rest of 8th gen.

We've known it was in some way going to synthesize Nintendo's home console and handheld businesses because they unified the hardware divisions two years ago, but what Iwata was saying at that time was that the model they wanted to start using was like Android of Apple devices, how they can have different form factors like phones and tablets but they all run the same software.

That is a much more likely explanation for what the NX is than "it's just one system that's a console/handheld hybrid" and it is also supported by the statement you're referencing.
